I am such a huge fan of the SADDLE KEY mysteries series set in the Florida Keys. In FIVE DIAMOND RESORT, we get Sheriff Matt Ryan’s book. Matt is the Sheriff of Monroe county, and the father of a young daughter. He has a complicated family relationship with a military father who was very controlling and who got into some trouble years back, and needless to say, family relationships have been strained. The murder mystery in this book was really interesting. Matt and a fellow detective go out for a night of drinking and Matt finds himself in a predicament when he wakes up the next morning. He turns to Audrey, who is the director of the Five Diamond resort. I really liked Audrey and Matt together and liked how strong Audrey was as a character. This had some interesting twists, fun 80’s movie references and I think we haven’t seen the last of the Russian mafia! 5/5 stars.

I enjoyed this story a lot. It was well written and the mystery was very suspenseful and full of surprises. The book featured Matt Ryan and Audrey Lawson. I was happy that the Lawson and Malone family members and the police and hospital staff that we met in the prior books were included as well. It is great that the author has a romance in addition to a mystery.
