The year is 1787 and thirteen-year-old Jake Cooper, has lost his father during the American Revolution. Having supported the British during the war, his family is no longer welcome in New Jersey. When the government seizes the family home, Jake’s mother reluctantly sends her sons to the British Colonies in search of a place to live. The Price of Loyalty is a story of adventure and about starting over. Jake and his seventeen-year-old brother trek for months through dense forests, crossing dangerous rivers and encountering wild animals. Jake is angry about having to leave. Over time, he learns about himself and his capabilities. He must grow up fast when it seems he may lose his brother to typhoid.
