A former Navy SEAL puts everything on the line to protect a brilliant scientist.

Dr. Sophie Ivanova lives for her work--developing ground-breaking treatments for PTSD. She’s happily chosen her career over love until one day she overhears a conversation, and her carefully constructed world comes tumbling down.

The problem? Her research is a lie and veteran lives may be on the line.

Pursued for what she knows, Sophie turns to the one man she trusts. Tyler Meyer.

Former SEAL, Tyler Meyer’s career ended when a mission went wrong. He survived, but has the scars, physical and emotional, to show for it. He’s chosen a quiet life in the depths of Alaska as a security guard, living alone, unwilling to share the demons of his past with a woman.

But when Sophie comes to him for help, the woman he’s been secretly crushing on for far too long, he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

As the bullets fly and lawless forces hunt Sophie for the incriminating evidence she possesses, Tyler vows to protect her and they go on the run. But as the net closes around them and their options dwindle, will it be enough to keep her alive?

If you're the kind of reader who loves high-stakes romance grounded in real-world research—with damaged military heroes, complex plots, and women who won't be rescued—hello. You're my people.

I write intense, tightly plotted protector romance with covert ops, real-world threats, and hard-won love. My heroes have protection in their bones and loyalty in their hearts. My heroines are smart, self-reliant, and ready to fight—for others, for justice, for love.

Still mad Ripley never got with Hicks? Me too. So I fix that—with heat and redemption.

The couple: Tyler and Sophie

Romance trope: romantic suspense
Series: Heart of a Wounded Hero
Length: 112 pages

Plot: Tyler is a security guard at the scientific facility where Sophie works, and the two look forward to seeing each other every day. As they get closer, things start to get a little dangerous at the labs, as Sophie is pulled into intrigue because of some of her work. Tyler will need to be on high alert to protect her from people who will stop at nothing to get the plans for her discoveries.

Commentary: I think this would have worked better in a longer format (most romantic suspense does, I think), but it was still a solid story. Sophie was sweet, and for once, didn't sound like the "she's so beautiful but doesn't realize it" supermodel-looking scientist trope. She seemed normal, and every now and then, I like that.

A gripping and suspenseful read with plenty of heat and a well-developed storyline all packaged inside this quick read. First story for me by this author and has whet my appetite for more.

With 112 pages, this was in my opinion more a fleshing out of key points in a layout for a book, than a proper book. A checklist to see if everything was covered: introduce the protagonists - check; steamy bed scene - check; pursuit - check.
But how? How did the villains find them? What happened to her boss? Who is the police officer besided a friend of him? Who is the pilot?
I was missing such a lot of fusing the different points/incidents/occurences/ etc., of combining the key points of a layout, which for me is the art of writing a good book.
It's a pity, as what there was of writing was not bad at all! And the wounded heroes, all those soldiers risking their lives for their countries (not only in the US of A) - their sufferings were hinted at, but how can love heal PTSD in 4 or so days? They deserve more details.

Tinha potencial

I enjoyed this book, I didn't feel any connection to any of the character. It is written in third person, not something I enjoy in a book!

Tyler and Sophie work together, he is a security guard and she is a Biotechnology. She is working on a cure for PTSA for soldiers who return home. When her boss gets in her face, Tyler steps in and help her only because the man grabs Sophie. Tyler asks her to go out for coffee with him and she accepts. The company Sophie works at is going to merge with another company in a few days. Tyler takes Sophie to see the glazers in a helicopter ride. He prepared a picnic for them to share when they touch ground. Sophie later seeks into her bosses office and steals some files, then she has to hide but overhears a conversation she shouldn't. Her boss calls her to hit office and gives her a flash drive and tells her to take it to the police no matter what happens to him. Then two guys show up in her lab, they aren't in scrubs and can contaminate there findings. They get rough with her assistance, so Sophie leaves she believes this has to do with the flash drive. Tyler finds her running and he wants to know what is going on, she explains the two men who are after her. They leave in his truck and she tires to tells him what her boss said. Tyler takes her to her apartment, soon they find the men looking for her there. Tyler knows there's only one place they can go. He heads to his cabin, Sophie falls asleep. After they arrive they both take a shower, she tells him she wants to know what is on the flash drive, so he gets her a laptop. When she finds out she tells Tyler they have to go to the police. Tyler calls one of his friends who is now a detective and he sets up a meeting. Sophie tells Tyler she wants to forget about everything, so they get physical. When they wake the next morning they head out to their meeting with the detective but are stopped and are offered money for the flash drive. The guy pulls a gun and then Tyler has to fight with him. Tyler is able to tackle him and tie him up, they leave and head to the police station. Soon Sophie tells Tyler to just drop her off at her apartment, she doesn't want anyone getting hurt. Tyler tells her they are in this together and convinces her they go to the station together. Sophie finds out her boss was killed, from her assistant. They give the information that they have to the detective. Six months later, they sit in the waiting room waiting for her name to be called, Tyler looks at the magazine on the table. The company that they worked for is no longer and had to pay back several families for what they did. Sophie was offered another job and only took it when she requested her assistant come with her. When Sophie's name is called they both go back to the the room, they are expecting and get an ultrasound of their child, they find out it's a boy. Sophie asks Tyler if he like the name Wyatt, he tells her he loves her and she tells him she loves him.

I know I keep saying the same thing over and over for this series, I'm just so in love, obsessed and addicted to it. I really can't put them down from start to finish.

These are fantastic, inspiring, sweet and sexy, instalove short stories written by various different authors. They tug (no rip) at your heart strings and set off almost every emotion possible, laughter, tears, horror, rage, sadness, happiness and love. Did I mention I'm addicted to this series? Like seriously I can't read them fast enough!!!

They have great characters that are realistically flawed, emotionally broken, physically damaged and have some demons but they are beautiful, determined, dedicated, fun, strong, committed, loyal, loving and by various means find that special someone or go back to the one, who makes them feel alive and whole again, then they start healing and are rewarded with their Happily Ever Afters!!

I highly recommend this series. I haven't been disappointed yet and it's for a great cause. Our US soldiers who fight for our freedom. I can't wait to start the next book!! Happy Reading!!!! Another action packed love story

Enjoyed reading Ty and Sophie's action packed, intrigue and corruption love story. Ty an ex Seal worked security at the company Sophie worked. He had been injured in the line of duty and left with a lot of scars. Sophie saw the man beyond the scars and Ty saw a beautiful woman. She was working on creating a micro chip implanted in the head that would help soldiers with extreme PTSD, etc. It was in the processing stage no approved trials. Things were unstable at her company but she didn't know what was going on. Read what the company had been doing, how far they would go to stop the info from being made public and how Ty kept her safe through it all. It's pretty action packed and good. Written by Cindy :)

♥️💕 I loved it!

Sophie Ivanova was driving towards her place of work.
She made her way with difficulty through the horde of journalists present.

She parked and hurried into the building. She was late...

She came face to face with the incredible security guard Tyler Meyer, as imperturbable as he is attractive...

-----------------

An addictive, action-packed short read with a totally thrilling background story!

This medical-thriller embarks the two main characters, Sophie and Ty, on a crazy escape...

I loved everything: the plot, the characters, everything, everything...

Thanks to the author, resolutely to discover and follow.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. This love story has betrayal, enemies, conflict and plenty of obstacles for Tyler and Sophie to overcome. I liked how the characters had that pull towards each from the beginning. They don't act on anything until her problems start to come to light. Tyler is dealing with issues that she can understand. It is hard for him to fully accept that though. Their story is suspenseful at times but the sweet and steamy parts are there also.

Wonderful story that was fantastically written. Tyler was an injured ex serviceman and Sophie a doctor/scientist. He worked security on for the company she worked for and though both felt an attraction to the other neither was brave enough to do something about it until Tyler stepped in when her boss was abusive towards her and then was brave enough to ask her out. There was danger, intrigue, suspense, love, romance and a wonderful HEA in the enthralling story. Great 5 star read.

Sophie's career is her life she has no time for relationships, but if he gave her the time of day she would make time for Tyler Meyer. He rarely talks until one day, her boss is abusive to her and he steps in. Next thing she knows she is agreeing to go for coffee.

When things go wrong at work can the former Navy SEAL be able to protect her?.

Loved this book. Unlike the others I've read in this series, this book has plenty of suspense, danger, heat and intrigue. When someone takes Sophie's chips to a deadly level, she'll do whatever it takes to make things right. Tyler was a Navy Seal and he'll do anything to protect her. Excellent story. HEA. This is another well-put-together short story. Fast paced, developed characters, and some hot spices in the bedroom. But, I was expecting the ex-seal hero to be a tad more action oriented and a tad less mouth. There also wasn't any followup on the hero's injuries or the weapons that are mentioned and then forgotten. Definitely some missed opportunities to add more depth to the story.

Ty and Sophie

This was great. I loved Ty and Sophie's relationship development. Sophie didn't even notice Ty's scars as anything more than part of him. Ty was her own personal hero. I loved the two of them. This one was just the right balance of steam, suspense, and swoon.

Sophie is smart and sweet but also kind of shy. I like how she falls for Tyler and knows what he is, isn't confined to the scars on his hands and face. I love how strong and protective Tyler is and how sweet and how he treats Sophie. Very nicely written action and suspense in such a short story.

Great liked that their relationship was built on friendship. Which grew quickly into a strong bond.
