An age-gap lesbian celebrity romance about how much you’d risk to have your dream.

However, as the chemistry sizzles between them, Rachel struggles with the harsh reality of being linked to a famous actress. Paparazzi keep dragging her into the spotlight when all she wants is to be taken seriously in her medical career.
Is falling for a superstar too much to handle? Even if sexy Cate Whitney is the one everyone wants? Even if she’s everything Rachel needs?

3.5stars! Even though there were a few parts that were both tedious and tiresome -- it's still a nice readable story. Recommended book!
What can a mid forties famous Hollywood actress have in common with a mid twenties medical physics student working on her Masters? I’ll take Madam Currie for 200 Alex. Rachel Janssen arrives home to discover a movie is being filmed across the street from her apartment. It stars her favourite actress, who she has had a longtime crush on, Cate Whitney as Madam Currie.
From Fan to Forever is a wonderful romance and while there is a large age gap it is a nonissue. The baggage Rachel and Cate bring into their budding relationship is what becomes their stumbling blocks. This is a refreshing look at a relationship where there are multiple external imbalances between the two yet it is their past experiences which stock the minefield.
Warner is an accomplished writer of fantasy who has successfully turned her eye towards pure romance in this novel. The characters of Rachel and her best friend Abby are fun, funny and incredibly quirky together. They make the first few chapters fly by.
From Fan to Forever is a really well written romance which entertained and amused this reader.
I received an advance review copy from Ylva Publishing and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a wish fulfillment story about dating an A-lister actress and I absolutely love it.
Both characters were great and likable. Cate was charming and despite her fame and fortune, is so humble, down-to-earth and normal in the best way. I love that she doesn't use Hollywood as an excuse to hide her sexuality, relationship nor her feelings for Rachel, which to me, is a breath of fresh air from other celebrity romances. I like that Rachel is understandably star-struck when she meets Cate in person, but at the same time, isn't carried away by the glamour that comes with being friends with and dating a big celebrity. I like how despite feeling that she isn't in Cate's league, Rachel is still pretty straightforward and honest with her romantic feelings. Their relationship was easy and it started out smooth and I really love them both as individuals and as a couple.
This story is easy to read and it can get light-hearted and funny at times, but this is not always the case as dating Hollywood isn't exactly easy and we see the couple deal with issues that are exacerbated by a cartoon villian ex.
But all in all, I must say that this is a really enjoyable celebrity romance story. Totally love it.
I received an ARC from Ylva Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
dalej nie wierzę, że znalazłam przypadkowo TAKĄ książkę (*is this play about us?!*)
bsjxjcjjc to było takie dobre😭🤌🏼 ciekawa i szybko lecąca fabuła, fajniaste bohaterki, GŁÓWNA POSTAĆ WZOROWANA NA CATE BLANCHETT AKA GODDESS, przepiękny wątek miłosny między Rachel a Cate (tak, aktorka nazywa się literally Cate), trochę słodko-gorzkich akcji, show-biz i dosyć sporo slay 🌶️🌶️🌶️ scen
gdybym dostała tak choćby 100 stron więcej, to czuję, że byłoby max gwiazdek, bo ta historia mocno mnie hitnęła
This book is a collection of some of my less favorite tropes; a celebrity romance, fandom, and an age-gap, so I initially skipped this book. But after reading some positive reviews I decided to give it a go after all and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed reading this book.
Rachel, a medical physics student has a massive celebrity star crush on Cate Whitney, an A-list actress. Meeting her crush is a wish come true. I think I was a bit afraid that Rachel would be acting like the big fan she is, but she actually acts rather down to earth (even when she is definitely a little bit fangirling). I liked their interactions. Cate is also portrayed well as a big celebrity who is still humble and likeable. I also liked how sexuality being a big issue was avoided, which is something I associate with celebrity romances. The story is generally pretty light and funny although there are a few angsty moments and it’s a bit over the top with a terrible ex-husband. This is my second book by Warner, I like her writing and will definitely be reading more.
I listened to the audiobook and the narration didn’t work as well for me as the book did. It wasn’t bad but the sound and cadence of the narrator was not for me. My rating is based on the book only.
"You were... exactly who I needed. You're smart, interesting, fun, sexy..." "Wasn't I on the ground covered in mustard and cobwebs when we first met?"
Everyone imagined at some point in their life how it would be if their celebrity crush actually fell in love with them.
I certainly did - and wrote a highly embarrassing fanfiction at 13 where I was snowed in with a band in a cabin in the woods where we flew to with a helicopter after being shopping in Paris.
And that's what happens in "From Fan to Forever", in a more adult but equally dreamy way.
Medical physics student Rachel meets her celebrity crush when actress Cate Whitney is filming a movie in Rachel's home town. There is chemistry right away, Rachel becomes sort of a science consultant for Cate's movie, they spent time together and fall in love.
And yes, there are also similar experiences to my 13 year old dreams, where Rachel is charted first class to Hollywood and Cate takes her to a fancy gala in a designer suit after a spa day. But besides all the glamour, Rachel learns how hard it can be to date a celebrity.
I loved the book. The pace is good, the dialogues are smart and funny, the characters are relatable and it has a nice balance of romance and conflict.
I also want to note one aspect that I enjoyed: For most of the story, Rachel is happy that Cate wants to be around her, but always questiones why exactly this beautiful, talented, famous start would ever be interested in a normal woman like her. And later on she realizes that no matter the money and fame another person might have, she is worth being worshipped and she IS good enough.
Rachel Janssen is a medical physics student with a huge celebrity crush on actress Cate Whitney. It just so happens that Whitney is shooting a movie – a steampunk interpretation of Marie Curie’s life, titled Clockwork Curie – right below Rachel’s Vancouver apartment. After her roommate dares her to approach her crush, Rachel ends up on her hands and knees before the star. Her knowledge of Curie’s work comes in handy since Cate has questions. One thing leads to another and before she knows it, Rachel is catching feelings as the seemingly-straight older woman flirts in an increasingly open way.
As sometimes happens, I liked this story a lot more by the end than I did when I started reading it. It reads like Cate Blanchett fanfiction and I’m having trouble deciding whether that’s a problem or not. I didn’t check the synopsis closely when I added this book to my TBR, and the actress’s name didn’t register. I may be totally wrong but Cate on top of “if someone were to poll all lesbians and ask them to rank their top celebrity crushes, she would win the popular vote” screams Cate Blanchett to me, and do I need to mention how Whitney looks like a variation on Blanchett? Don’t get me wrong, I love Cate Blanchett and I would never judge a celebrity crush but the introduction felt a tad lazy. Alluding to a real person and letting our collective lust do the heavy lifting isn’t what I look for in the books I read. From then on, the author had to work just that bit harder to get me into the story. It took until I reached the second half. Not that the first one was bad, but I wasn’t overly excited either and Rachel’s stalker-like attitude at the beginning didn’t help.
The second half, however, was much more to my taste, the pace picked up, all sorts of things happened. The chemistry between the two MCs is fantastic and I enjoyed their scenes together a lot. The age gap is real (Rachel is twenty-three, Cate is forty-one) but never an issue, and it allows for tender moments, like the scene in which Rachel tells Cate that she was instrumental in her coming out when she was a teenager. The interactions between them are the best part of the book. Their reunion after the requisite 80% black moment is spectacular and for a second, it felt like the movie from the book had come to life.
If you’re in the mood for an age-gap celebrity romance, check this one out. 3.5⭐️
I received a copy from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I like a lot age gap romances & appreciate celebs novels. So this book seemed to be a perfect choice … But it was way too miraculous at the beginning and predictable after that (the black moment wasn’t even a surprise, as a matter of fact, it was expected) with too much "screaming" involved at the beginning (it really got on my nerves) and too much “fat tongue” all along …. IDK you you guys and glas but for me it was like reading a fanfiction about Cate Blanchett … one where the author seems to tell us about her own (not secret anymore) fantasy about this actress … It was pretty disturbing ‘cause fantasies are better kept to yourself, not shared with the world …
In addition, I didn’t like:
° the total lack of character development ... it’s like the MCs (who appeared to me as being pretty much immature) connected only through sex. Which makes the love story even less credible … Way less sex scenes (and they NEVER talked about “love scenes”, only “sex” ones) and more get together time sharing activities and conversation would have been appreciated (you know, to show US, readers, they had more in common than their total oppostite status let us show). OK, they didn’t have a lot of time due to their respective plannings but they could have done something else than getting sweaty between the sheets …
° the supposedly steamy sex whereas which overtook the 2nd half of the book. Seriously, it was like reading a marathon of sex scenes but they left me unmoved (they were pretty unsafe/unhygienic (they don’t seem to know how to wash their hands before aiming straight to the G-Spot 🤢🤮 ) and IMO, they didn't help moving the plot forward either. And don’t get me started on the insta-pornstar effect where Cate is concerned …
° the too rushed time frame to make the love story with the "right woman" credible (especially coupled with the points evoked right above)
° the overdone drama coupled with Phil, Cate's ex-husband, who's way passed bordering on caricature from my POV.
° the absence of epilogue talking about a real HEA. I mean … Both women would have been a bit older, it would have been easier for me to buy in. But since they seemingly bonded mostly through sex, it's really hard for me to see more than a HFN for those “lovebirds” … Well, at least there were a few touches of humor …
It’s a shame because some scenes were really well written which means there’s some potential here. I hope the author will, someday rework her novel and make it the great book it deserved to be.
It just so happened that I was listening to and reading two stories at the same time that involved paparazzi. And not only that, one was about a royal involved with a commoner, and this was about a movie star getting involved with a graduate student - both very opposites attract. So it was kind of difficult not to compare them in some way.
Here's what I liked about this story. It's definitely fantasy material - no question about it. Student Rachel Janssen is an appealing, intelligent character with great integrity. I also enjoyed the quasi coming out story of stunning actress Cate Whitney, although there's not a ton of focus on that aspect - because sometimes it just takes meeting the right person to awaken that in you. It also includes both celeb and age gap tropes, which are two of my favorites. There are also appealing secondary characters in Rachel's roommate and her parents as well. The mains have good chemistry. This also highlights the challenges associated with celebrity regarding privacy and public perception.
I do wonder, though, if maybe I'm not the target audience for this book. Perhaps it may have greater appeal for those in their 20s and 30s. While I did generally enjoy it, there were some things about the story that detracted from my experience. While I'm certainly game to do this generally, you really have to suspend disbelief here. The way Rachel meets Cate on set is pretty implausible. While one might sort of believe Rachel gets away with it because on some level Cate is attracted to her, still - sets are usually quite a bit more locked down than that. There's also a villainous ex of Cate's who borders on caricature. While I can certainly understand jealousy, his behavior was a bit over the top. Especially for someone who was so concerned about image. He's definitely easy to hate though.
And while I'm a fan of age gaps - and there's a pretty significant one between these two with Cate in her early forties and Rachel in her early twenties - if the women are both a bit older, it's easier to buy in. Certainly for a HEA. That doesn't mean there couldn't be attraction, certainly, or even an affair. But would characters like these survive in the long term? After the physical wears off, would they be able to relate to one another being at such different places in their lives? It's hard for me to see more than a HFN for these two. But that's okay - nothing wrong with that.
All of this said, I admire the efforts of any author who puts their work out there. From what I can see of other glowing reviews, I think it's just a matter of personal taste and I'm interested in more people's thoughts on this one. Give it a read! I look forward to reading other perspectives.
I received an ARC from Ylva Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
Honestly, this title had me shaking my head and going no thanks. I’m glad some of my GR friends read it and were very positive about this book, it changed my mind about it and it’s actually a delightful read.
This book combines the celebrity and age gap tropes, the celebrity is clear, the age gap not so much. I for one thought the main characters seemed to be around the same age, not that it matters much, but the gap is 18 or so years.
The writing and the story are great. It’s a slightly different celebrity story and the humour in this book is great. The roommate is my favourite, she has the best, or maybe worst, job as well.
For any fans of age gap and/ or celebrity trope, read this. It’s super fun
This book is a total departure from the author's previous trilogy and will be an excellent surprise for readers of that series. Is it possible for a star struck introvert to date a celebrity and remain grounded? That's where Rachel finds herself when fate intervenes and a movie sets up for filming in her Vancouver neighborhood starring Cate Whitney (Rachel's celebrity crush). Trying to sneak into a restricted area finds Rachel caught in an embarrassing situation but Cate takes it in stride. Fast forward a bit and they're getting along famously with some flirting thrown in. Since Rachel is a medical physics student and the movie being filmed is about Marie Curie, she ends up giving Cate snippets of info to help get her into character. Age gap aside (neither seems bothered by it) a romance escalates but Cate's ex scumbag husband can't bear to see her happy. There are bumps in the road ahead - issues from the past laid bare. Beware of social media!! Some drama, angst, doses of humor and heat plus roommate/B.F. Abby and Assistant Sean make for a nifty, quick read with a HEA.
I rec'd a copy through Ylva Publishing and this is an unbiased and voluntary review.
Well, I’m and will forever be a fan of age-gap celebrity romance….so no surprises here. We have an A-lister actress in Cate Whitney filming a movie on Marie Curie’s life and work, and Rachel who is a big fan of Cate’s and whose apartment is smack in the middle of where all the filming is taking place. So when you know your idol is somewhere close, what would you? Try to get a glimpse or even better, an up close and personal encounter with your idol….and that’s what happened. Rachel not only get to meet Cate but get to advise/consult Cate on her portrayal in the film given her ‘expertise in all science’ 😊 Some flirting between them leads to more with feelings involved (yes…some may say that this is bordering on insta-love). And throw in an ex in the mix, who tried to worm his way back into Cate’s life. Cliché much? Yeah but I enjoyed it.
This is definitely a cute love story, one that has a tiny bit of fantasy involved too. I'm sure we've all crushed super hard on a celebrity and wondered about whether we'd hit it off with them if we had the opportunity to meet them. I feel as though this was the basis of the story - a mix between fantasy and a dream of meeting your celebrity crush and getting to date them.
Although its a cute story with interesting characters, there were aspects which I didn't particularly enjoy. The angst and miscommunication was a bit frustrating, as well as the ex-husband's involvement. I would've loved to have had some discussion of the two main characters large age gap, as I think this would've solidified their connection just a tad more. Their relationship felt superficial at times, which is a shame as they seemed lovely together.
Many thanks to Ylva Publishing for a copy of this novel. ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a cute book!!! I love these kind of stories, a love story between a celebrity and a fan 😍and this one was done very well 👏🏻 Cate and Rachel were the sweetest and they had chemistry FOR DAYS and I loved “watching” them fall in love with each other and get their happy ending 🥰 best way to spend my Sunday afternoon 👌🏻
I really enjoyed the first half but the drama later in the book was a bit too far fetched for me, even in a celeb romance. I had a hard time getting back into the story as a result. 3.5 stars, mostly for the first half.
Rachel finds all her dreams coming true when she gets the chance to meet Cate Whitney, her favourite actress who just happens to be filming a movie about Marie Curie right on Rachel’s street. Cate offers Rachel the opportunity of a lifetime, to be a science consultant to help her with her character and suddenly they can’t deny they have a connection, but with Rachel having a fear of the publicity being with Cate brings and what it might mean for her career, can she handle it all.
What an amazing story! I was so excited to read this, celebrity age-gap romance and I was not disappointed. Tiana has delivered a story that most of us dream about, meeting a celebrity crush or someone who influenced our lives and being able to have a connection with them. I was hooked from the very beginning, loved Rachel’s career and all the fun science things being discussed, but I loved the natural drama and hesitation that surrounded Rachel and Cate’s growing relationship.
Cate was fantastic, very charismatic but down to earth and definitely just trying to find a happy balance between her career and her privacy after a messy divorce. Rachel was a breath of fresh air, inquisitive and making decisions based on hope, which was a wonderful feeling. All those initial moments when they were getting to know each other, and that anticipation when she first realised who was filming on her street and getting to meet Cate. It was hard not to get swept up with the whole story and just enjoy every second of it.
There were so many great moments, ones that made my heart race, others that had me on the edge of my seat, and ones that just made me smile and laugh. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and know I will again, it was just great going through everything with both Rachel and Cate as they tried to figure this all out and find happiness. A great story that I can’t recommend enough, hopefully we’ll have future stories about Cate and Rachel, and I’m excited for Tiana’s next story!
If you're looking for a romance between a famous actress and a next door girl, then this book is for you.
The romance between Cate, an A-lister, and Rachel, a medical physics student working on her doctorate, is fun and enjoyable. Wonderful in my opinion. And yes, rather implausible.
My only complaint is that Cate's asshole ex doesn't get a well-deserved public humiliation. Or sort of...

Cate is newly divorced and never acted on her feelings for women. Rachel hasn’t ever had a girlfriend who was out and sure of what she wanted. Cate is a celebrity. Rachel has panic attacks when her photo is taken.
I wanted a feel-good story and this delivered. I really enjoyed it. I was worried the fan-turned-lover thing would be weird, but it really wasn’t. Rachel quickly realizes Cate is a whole person, and isn’t a creepy fan. This book had me laughing from the first page. There were serious moments but nothing super angsty. MCs are pretty damn sure about it from the get-go. It was a nice change that no one had to be convinced to give it a go.
The Sex:
One thing to note about this book is the storyline is very, very tight. We jump from scene-to-scene in a direct path through the story. There is no winding, weaving, and getting to know the characters in-depth as individuals. Sometimes I like that, sometimes I want more than that. You do not have to wait for the next time the characters will see each other, the book jumps right to the next time. This makes is hard to put down and pretty fast read.
FROM FAN TO FOREVER Author TIANA WARNER MC Cate Whitney & Rachel Janssen
This is my first book by the Author and it was such a delight. I love age-gap Romance books.
Rachel is recovering from a bad fallout from a young lady that she thought was interested in her, but was really just experimenting.
The book is about Rachel who found herself after watching a movie by her crush Cate. The story is interesting and will definitely keep you entertained. It is a light hearted story with two characters that were sweet and very cute.
It is centered around Hollywood, so that always makes for a intriguing story. I don’t want to give away the story just know it is a wonderful read. I really enjoyed the story and the characters.
I highly recommend this book, I would like to thank YLVA for the arc 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I probably would have skipped this one if I hadn't read this author before (this is something like the fifth or sixth book I've read by them), and even then, it was the part wherein this was in the Kindle Unlimited program that got me to add it to my shelves (and even then . . . still took a while to start the book). What was the hold up? What's the issue? Age gap. A massively huge one. I'm not really big on reading age gap stories, especially when they involve someone who is in the beginning of their adulthood, and someone else who is technically already passed middle age.
Here we have a solo point of view book from the point of view of Rachel Janssen, a woman closer to 18-something, than 30-something (eh, I know she's in her 20s, if I put the hints dropped together . . . I think she's supposed to be 21 in this book). Rachel is extremely camera shy due to a very bad experience involving getting caught on camera with her only serious relationship of her life, and also is extremely distracted getting her science graduate degree.
Meanwhile, the other main character in this book, though not point of view level, is Cate Whitney, a 40-something A-list actress who is known for playing roles that has her kissing women, despite all hints from her real life suggesting she's straight. That whole package is important, of course, because Cate is in town, literally beneath Rachel's balcony, filming a movie. And Cate, or Cate's scenes in a particular film, are what reinforced for Rachel, when she was a kid and Cate was a full grown adult, that she, Rachel, is a lesbian.
Right. So, naturally . . .. There are about 3.9 trillion things that require suspension of disbelief for this story to work. If a reader is willing to believe in this fantasy laid out here - the story involves the ~20 year old dating the super famous ~40 year old. Bunch of issues come up, like exes, and cameras, and stuff. Angst and drama be had.
Interesting enough story. Happy enough that I was able to read this one here.
If you love the fantasy of a celebrity crush romance this is for you. Rachel Janssen is a working on her masters thesis for medical physics in Vancouver. On the street where she lives a movie is filming featuring Cate Whitney who is Rachel’s dream crush. Cate is 18 years older and after and is intrigued by Rachel’s forced meet cute. Honestly I never understood Cate’s initial attraction other than here is someone smart, young and out of the industry. I just decided to go with it as the story moves along.
It is just a summer fling or something more? Cate has issues mainly around her ex-husband using media to woo her back. But Rachel has her own issues about being in the spotlight. The age-gap is seemingly a non issue for anyone including parents. And Rachel’s roommate and friend Abby adds some humorous moments.
I read this feel good, uncomplicated story in an afternoon. It is entertaining but for me not overly memorable. Thank you to NetGalley and Ylva Publishing for the ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.
