Save the lonesome lion! The one standing up against the final boss is the strongest man of Bofurin, Umemiya!! Furin high school is known as the most powerful delinquent high school, as well as the heroes of the town. After joining Furin, Haruka Sakura finds himself surrounded by strong friends as he continues to strive for his goal and become the top of the school.
The final battle of the one-on-one tournament against the devotees of power, Shishitoren, is finally starting. What sort of answer does Umemiya have for the power-hungry and obsessed Choji Tomiyama?
i’m sure it comes as a surprise to no one that my favorite character in this series just happens to be Umemiya.. it’s not like he has white hair or anything 🤫 (i actually do love his personality tho i promise lol). this volume was so good!! loved seeing exactly why Umemiya is the leader of Bofurin, the healing was very much needed for these angry boys. 😭
I did not expect to cry as much as I did while reading this volume, but that just goes to show you how much I’m enjoying this series. The fight between Umemiya and Choji did not go at all like I thought it would. But that was for the better. This series really is The Power of Friendship: Shounen edition. It was nice to see other characters, in addition to Sakura, learn about what it means to be friends.
This series is not concerned at all with being subtle. This is usually not a bad thing, but the post-fight discussion between the Furin and Shishitoren boys did feel a little long at times. Mostly because of how on the nose the whole thing was. But it made up for it by being so sweet. And that final line by Choji about the anpan was the best way to end this arc.
I’m very excited to learn more about the rest of the first years at Furin High.
Wouldn't it be great if the fist therapy also worked in real life? Just a few right hooks and all your insecurities, depressions and other problems gone, because it rewires your brain and makes you look at things from a different perspective. Oh how wonderful that would be. That aside, love the life lesson's in this vol. Standing up to your friend when they're doing bullshit is goddamn difficult and scary, honestly can't blame Kame for how he handled it. Good thing there is Ume and Sakura to knock some sense into them :) But Sakura has a lot to learn on his own and watching him struggle through the revelations is just... Hnnn, you go bebi, you got this!
Direct nice in the story is getting interesting if you like action and some comedy this is definitely a real laugh it doesn’t slow down for very long which is fine
Éste me da bastante curiosidad.
Seguiremos leyendo 👊

It's Umemiya vs. Tomiyama. One wants neighborhood domination and the other is here for a fight club therapy session. Insert one cathartic pummeling, tears of regret, and a lot of apologizing and the Furin vs. Shishitoren comes to a close.
Umemiya is now officially my favorite character. Sakura, Sugishita, Nirei, and Choji are close seconds. And that was one of the best spit-takes I've ever seen in a manga. Then we end it with two new character introductions and every reason to keep reading.
I LOVE THIS KIND OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!!!!😭 So what i understood was that the mentality of a leader effects the group so the leader should work on himself first because having physical strength isn't enough to lead people.
Everyone from outside seeing Sakura's appearance like different hair color and eyes and Everyone thought he was weird but in buffrine it's completely different they're seeing inside of him that how pure he is and how good of a person he's. So Sakura don't know this feelings before so he's confused. Potential bromance is high in this manga. Sakura blush so easily even the thought of he maybe like someone surprise him xD so cute so pure.

Who needs a therapist when Umemiya exists ˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖
In this volume, it became clear how Umemiya got his position as Furin’s top. He cares a lot for those around him and even managed to calm down Tomiyama’s bizarre (borderline-psycho) antics. Bro was gentle even when he got bitten on the neck, I’m truly impressed ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧
Another reason to love this volume is that my baby boi Kiryu finally makes his appearance ㅤ♡ྀི ₊ ⟡ ݁₊ . I love myself a cute soft pink-haired boy with piercings ❤︎
amazing fight. amazing set of ideals. hajime is him and was taking blows and giving choji therapy LOL. love how they all just chowed down after the battle like what is a better way to bond. and we got introduced to new characters! i am loving all of this and bofurin and shishitoren UGH LOVE THEM ALL!!!
ate. every fight scenes are giving the action so much. i just love the diversity, the back story, the way everything executed .... so good. i like it and i'll look forward to it.
"After all, I've never allowed anyone into my life."
"And it looks to me like you want to accept others."
Sakura, Sakura, Sakura. I want to know more about his backstory. Where are his parents? Was he abandoned or neglected by them because of his looks?
Also I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because of Choji. I'm sorry but I don't feel bad for him. Not really. He said it himself. He's the one who destroyed everything. I only feel bad for Togame.
CHOJI, THEY CAN NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU. I LOVE YOU 💖😭💖
In all seriousness, I truly adore the way that the Shishitoren arc wraps up in this volume. It takes a second but, by fighting Umemiya, Choji finally realizes how both his action and inaction were harmful to those around him. He reflects on what his goals were when he became the top of Shishitoren and wonders why it all became so meaningless to him. Choji realizes that what had made things so fun for him before was the community he’d surrounded himself with. When he was just having fun, not taking things as a serious competition to the top, he could just enjoy himself while around his friends. Fighting could still be fun because he was doing it surrounded by boys that made him happy.
It was beautiful, really, seeing Choji apologize to Togame. He finally understood the harm he had caused. Togame also feels guilty and profusely apologizes to Choji as well…and for both of them it comes from a deep well of love and care. They know they BOTH had a role to play in how things went to shit in Shishitoren. If they had both done their own part, it wouldn’t have gotten so bad. Togame wouldn’t have had to become the vicious second hand of Choji, and Choji wouldn’t have been so alone and slowly eaten alive by his growing feeling of emptiness. They both needed each other, and they now commit to being better not just for themselves or each other but for Shishitoren as a whole. It’s, after all, what the boys of Shishitoren deserve from their leaders. We love to see it! 🥹
As for Umemiya, I loved how much we got to learn about what it means to him to be the top of Furin. He strongly believes that he wouldn’t be their leader if the boys of Furin shared his vision. Ultimately, what Umemiya wants is for everyone in his community to feel safe, cared for, and spend time happily around each other. With this in mind, Umemiya also knows not to take his leadership for granted. He knows it’s not something he’s taken for himself, but something that has been given to him. It’s by striving towards a goal as a collective that not only he finds his own happiness, but he supports the Furin boys in finding their own happiness. It’s BEAUTIFUL.
Frankly, the only reason this volume is getting a lower rating from me is because about 2/3 of it are absolute perfection and I wouldn’t change anything about it…but then it takes a turn towards the end that feels abrupt. The boys are just suddenly back in school, and we’re focused on learning more about Tsugeura and Kiryu. This doesnt feel like it flows naturally in the story. In theory it makes sense because it’s simply the next day, hardly any time has passed after all, but suddenly just getting hit with two characters becoming important just made the end of the volume lack finesse.
Anyway. As always, I will continue reading 😌 I cannot let go of my beloved boys 💖
P.S. CHOJI AND TOGAME SUPREMACY 🧎🏻♀️➡️ THEY’RE IN LOVE, I SWEAR. EVEN UMEMIYA KNOWS IT. THAT’S WHY HE SAID CHOJI WAS TAKING TOGAME FOR GRANTED BECAUSE WHAT “MADE HIM HAPPY” WAS ALWAYS BY HIS SIDE. HE WASN’T GRATEFUL THE SAME WAY MOST OF US TEND TO NOT BE GRATEFUL FOR THE AIR WE BREATHE BECAUSE IT’S ALWAYS THERE. BUT WE SHOULD BE GRATEFUL. BE STILL MY GAY HEART 💖😩💖
ch 24 umemiya vs choji, cont i get that he's lost the life in him so his hits mean nothing, but also he's like 5ft tall and like 20 lbs meanwhile umemiya is like 6ft tall. "it doesn't look like you're having fun" oh shadeee not his hair...
ch 25 umemiya vs choji, cont first of all, who DOESN'T umemiya have chemistry with. and second of all, he is such a good therapist. yeah let's give him a concussion to spark back those memories <3
ch 26 togatomi nation RISE. also incredible discussion of depression i wasn't expecting that at all. the visuals nii chose as well are so well done. choji saying he was the reason togame's been like this the whole time and apologizing in tears yeah this is one of my fav chapters fr
ch 27 choji's eyes are back. we all cheer. i've never liked dazai (yeah i've finally dragged a diff anime than bllk into this, now it's bsd) and his one minute he's cheerful and goofy and the next he's mafia serious and smart. i'm not too much of a fan of gojo's propensity to do that either. (sure they're written well i just personally can't stand it). and so both those characters led me to believe i'd never like that kind of character ever again. but i think the difference is that here umemiya only ever seeks to fight people to have a conversation with them. he always seeks to understand them and get to know them better and help them. and so despite his seriousness and minute overpoweredness he never grates too badly on my nerves. ... oh sakura that was embarrassing lol. trying to make everyone be cool and not lame.
ch 28 maybe the power of friendship really does solve everything. "it's because what you like best has always been by your side, like it's natural." WHAT. this wasn't in the anime. and guess who's by choji's side? togame.
ch 29 togame crying like the day in the rain. except this time the sun is out bc choji is back. we are being fed this symbolism so well.
ch 30 omg sakura is such a cat. his first time having ppl who care about him and he's overwhelmed. we can all agree we love blushing sakura. i never thought much about sugishita but i love the guy.
ch 31 tsugeura intro! sakura only knows how to talk to ppl with his fists lmao
ch 32 kiryu intro! tsugeura knows no social anxiety meanwhile that's all sakura is. kiryu: tsuga-chan tsugeura: it's actually tsugeura kiryu:.... tsuga-chan this was hilarious. also tsugeura doesn't want to scare anyone what a gentleman.
I love this series. The anime is great. The manga is great. Sakura is great. Ume is great. Suo is great (and kind of terrifying, although in this volume he's more sarcastic than scary). And now we've met Kiryu and he's great too. Honestly, I cannot recommend this series enough.
In this volume, we see the conclusion of Ume's fight with Shishitoren's leader. Sakura has a lovely conversation with Ume. Sugeshita tries to throttle Sakura with a chair (there was no actual danger, he was stopped very quickly, but the way Sakura immediately squared up made me cackle). We also met Tsugeura and Kiryu. The volume ended at a bit of a cliff hanger, but I saw the anime and I know what's coming and I can't wait. I've already requested the next volume.
This did not go the way I was expecting, and I kind of like that.
So the big fight is over, and it ended in a very different way than I thought it would play out. Sakura still has a long way to go with changing his mindset if he wants to be a part of Furin, but at least all of the guys accept him already. I have a feeling that just being a part of the gang will start to make him see the world in a different way, and he may reconsider wanting to take over as the leader of Furin. Either way, this is still a fun and interesting read.
