Casper’s salvation lies in the hands of a savage biker bear…
Rock bottom. Casper Holden finally knows what that feels like. He’s watched his father and brother die before his very eyes. The bloodthirsty new leader of his pride wants all the members of the Holden family dead, and that includes Casper. Hunted by the same people he once trusted, Casper has to fend for himself. But a lone omega without a protector can’t survive on his own. As Casper readies himself for death, fate assigns him an unexpected protector.
Vicious. Venom and his monstrous crew of grizzly alphas have been called worse names. A simple visit to a lion shifter pride turns complicated the moment Venom crosses paths with Casper. Casper is marked for death. His pride knows it, and so does Venom. That doesn’t stop Venom from committing the unthinkable. Venom doesn’t believe in mates. He’s incapable of love. Deep down, he knows he’s just a killer, but Casper believes he can be more.
Venom is an m/m shifter romance and the first book in the Moon Burrow Bears series. It contains mpreg, a possessive and ruthless bear who’s sweet on his mate and a happily ever-after.
I really enjoyed this story. I like the characters I like the plot. I mean, there’s nothing I didn’t like It was really amazing. I liked the slow burn. I liked the characters development. I like the side characters. I’m excited to read the rest of the books and the series.
I love a great bear shifter story. This gave me what I needed. Feared grumbly grizzly. Who’s protective over the ones he love. Big teddy bear insides unless you cross him. Omega shifter who not only needs protecting but can calm the inner grizzly. A journey of love that saves them both. This isn’t quite an insta love story but it’s close. The writing was good. Just may need a reread for a few editing errors. The smexy was good (I could have used more. A little more detail maybe some knotting) the side characters where a hoot. I’m interested in Axels story.
I loved this book, I really did. Venom seemes very scary and bad and all but it was the exterior. He was loyal and a good leader to his clan and loving and caring to his mate. Casper had been through a lot and Venom showing up just made everything seem worth it. They found each other and that was that. I loved them as a couple, they were just perfect together
I really liked this story, the characters, the plot, there was so much potential.
Too much telling instead of showing. Simplistic writing, not descriptive enough. A lot of the dialogue felt stiff, especially when not using contractions.
I’ll continue the series because I liked the characters but it saddens me that it could’ve easily been such a higher rating if it was even just a tiny bit more descriptive and fleshed out.
My ratings always reflect my enjoyment of the story. ❀
Before I wax lyrical about Venom and his feisty little mate, I've got to return to my least favourite subject. Once again, so many errors spoil the story and the reading experience. Typos, missed words, wrong tenses, wrong names, all the usual suspects that come with a Fel Fern book. Please, please please, Fel, use an editor and proofreader, if you have any respect for your art and your readers. Ever since we met Venom in the Exiled Pack series, I've been desperate to read his story and now, here he is in all his grumpy glory. Venom has a hard shell hiding a soft heart when it comes to his mate, a sad and bereaved lion omega, who he will do anything for as soon as they meet. Venom is definitely my favourite. Casper sees beyond Venom's gruffness and grumpiness to the good man capable of extraordinary love for his mate, and loves him without reservation. Casper is the perfect fit for Venom, sweet and supportive, unafraid of both man and bear. The story is violent and bloody, but the love between Venom and Casper shines throughout, as does the love of the other mated pairs we've already met. The love and affection between Venom and his best friend, Mayhem, made me smile and the way Mayhem can talk to him because of that bond cracked me up. No one else gets away with any of that with Venom and it's so funny to see. Axel is up next and that promises to be good (if almost unreadable, probably).
Could be decent enough if edited, something that apparently also goes for everything else written by this author. Turned into a frustrating read thanks to misspelled or weird word choices, awkward sentences and some random info dumps about other connected series wanted to like it but really couldn't
Loved it! This gave me all the snuggly, warm shifter feels! I enjoyed the fact that there were multiple shifter species and that there were high stakes and just so much love and community piled into one story and one MC! It was an adorable tale of a grumpy finding his sorta sunshine and it was great.
This is not your mamas omegaverse read. I’ve never read one about an alpha in an MC. Venom happens to be in the right place at the right time to help Casper and realize that they are mates, unfortunately it’s after Casper has lost the last of his family and is marked for death. Definitely a good read.
* Storyline was ok - drawn out in places where half the drama would have been enough * Grammar and typos littered throughout * This didn’t feel like a M/M romance - why have a M/M romance and then make one character’s mannerisms and reproductive system exactly like women (self lubricanting, pregnancy and childbirth, obsession with how their chest looks) And yes, slight difference (he was concerned about the scars on his chest and how they would look naked and the self lubricanting is the wrong hole) but seriously you could read the Omega character as a female for the whole book and it wouldn’t change the storyline
Had real great potential but if it wasn’t in Kindle Unlimited I would not have been happy if I had paid for this (especially in AUS $$)
Dnf 45% --- It's really rare that I read a book written in such a stilted manner as this one. Zero investment in the characters, zero engagement with the plot. Despite things happening, the author completely failed to generate any emotions. Even the death of Casper's brother and closest friend couldn't evoke stronger emotions in him. And his conversation with Venom about the tragic death of his parents had me rolling my eyes so hard I almost went cross-eyed. I haven't read anything this stilted/stiff and unnatural in a long time. The author completely lacks the ability to describe emotions related to grief, compassion, warmth, and support. The story is written in a bizarre, machine-gun style, sentence after sentence, with some sentences not even seeming particularly connected to each other. Not to mention the sex scenes—zero engagement, zero chemistry. It was soooo boring and dragged.
One of the worst writing skills I've seen presented in a book. I know authors who have worse English skills than this one, but at least they can describe something that stirs emotions. I love emotional books that delve into the nuances of feelings between characters. There’s none of that here. I'm not giving a rating because I'm not the type to rate a book I didn't finish, but I simply can't go on. It feels like a Wattpad story, written without much effort. I definitely won't be picking up another book by this author.
You don't believe me? Check this dialogue: Venom blinked, then said, “My alpha dad, Ray, had been gunned down during a fight with a rival MC. His body had been so riddled with bullets, there wasn’t much of him to bury.” “I’m sorry to hear that, Venom,” I said, recalling Venom rode Ray’s Harley. “Were you two close?” “Ray often left on MC business....” ---
Yes, because after hearing about somebody's father being riddled with bullet it's so crucial to remember Venom rode his father's Harley. Who cares about trauma. And "I'm sorry to hear that?" That's all? Not even a touch to his hand? A description of his saddened face?
Yes, Venom took Casper to his father grave and is emotional and that's all what Casper can offer.
The next part is not much better, don't take me wrong. After hearing his other dad died from drug overdose and Venom found his body, the most important question to ask is : “You found his body? How old were you?” Casper asked me. I studied him, a little distracted, and wondered what he thought about what I told him. I always got this way when I thought of the past.
Yeah, he has to wonder, since Casper surely doesn't show any particularly strong emotions when his mate is sharing the most traumatic moments of his life. There is just one line of such description at the beginning of the chapter. ...
Thank you, no! That's just bad writing skills, period.
This is the first book in the moon burrow Bears series. Wow I always thought that venom had this soft side but I just could not wait to meet the real him. And in this book we see the real venom and we see more of an in sight into the grizzly MC. Casper has just lost his father. His dad used to be the leader of the yellow valley pride but he was challenged to be leader and in that battle he lost to a very evil guy called Kurt. Then his brother went and challenged Kurt and he lost that battle meaning Casper was all alone. But it seems he did have an angel that was looking out for him and his name was venom. Venom was not looking forward to going to meet Kurt the new pride leader who was after some of his guns. He didn’t know why but he had a bad feeling about this. But as they got into the pride he went for a walk and he came across a little Omega who was tending to a grave and he was putting out flowers that reminded him very much when he did the same. When he found out that the Omega was Casper the son of the previous leader he got the sense of dread he thought trouble was coming his way and it was quickly proven true when Caspers brother challenged to the new leader thankfully somebody had approached venom so if the challenge went wrong he would get Casper out of there but it seemed he wasn’t in time, you see Kurt knew he would win so he had planned to make Casper pay and he sent one of his alphas called Finn to find him. When venom came across him Casper was virtually dead. Finn had been bleeding him out slowly venom killed Finn with one sweep of his claw he could see that Casper was in a bad way and he asked his bear to help him. could venom keep him safe?? what would happen when Kurt realised that venom killed one of his own??
All that I have told you happened in the first couple of chapters of this book so there is a hell of a lot more for you to find out but let me just tell you now this big bad Grizzley that we heard so much about in previous books , you think you know him but you don’t. He open my eyes as well as the grizzly MC and I am so excited for this series. We got a little insights with diesel and mayhem and Sam but I’m really excited for this series. There is something very special about Casper and venom and I really hope that you enjoy it as much as I did. A brilliant read, really didn’t wanna put it down had to read in one sitting.

Half a star... Maybe. If you're looking for an immersive, spicy paranormal omega verse read, don't stop here. Why does it always feel like certain genre authors completely skip over the developmental editing phase of their book. If this were given to a professional, it would have handed the manuscript right the fuck back and told her to go back to Creative Writing I, to master the art of show versus tell and passive versus active writing. And that's just the beginning of of the insurmountable mountain of issues with this story. The entire story is supposed to be written in first person past tense with a dual point of view. However, I often find that the author switches from a first-person perspective to an omniscient narrator perspective randomly. The main character will be privy to other characters. Thoughts? Emotions, feelings or perspectives in an almost god-like way which is not realistic and it takes away from the experience of being inside the main character's head. Another pet peeve is the overuse of characters names. This happens in the writing as well as the dialogue where the characters are always referred to by their name. “ Venom sat down. Then venom grabbed a cup of water. Venom's hold on the glass tightened as if he were angry." There was absolutely no sentence diversity and no use of literary elements that would make you feel like you were in the story. Like come on can I get a metaphor, a simile, alliteration... Anything?. I'd even settle for complex sentences.
As if the actual writing weren't bad enough, the dialogue brought me back to teaching creative writing to middle schoolers. A lot of it was unnatural. It was awkward and anything remotely related to being sexual. Seemed like it was put there based on an idea of what is supposed to sound sexy. This was a zero on the spice scale and the one sex scene that did happen was definitely written by a 12-year-old boy with his first boner. There was no part of that that would have lasted in a bathhouse in the '70s. Let's move on to the romance, there was. There was no emotional growth. There was no character development. The secondary and tertiary characters were low to mid at best and the action was like reading about two geriatrics fighting over tapioca pudding. If you were looking for a decent M/M Paranormal romance trust me you can do better.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I'm on the fence with how I felt. To start with there really is a decent enough story here and, for the most part I thought it had interesting characters. But all of that is almost completely drowned out by all the editing errors. I'm not just talking grammatical or simple punctuation either - I'm talking about serious mistakes that could easily have been avoided by proofreading and having a decent editor. Fragmented sentences. Forgetting the name of the town you just mentioned two sentences ago and calling it something else. Throwing in random bits of character backgrounds with no context and then just throwing in random characters that have no bearing on the story, we've not met before, and have no idea why they are even there! Now, I did actually like the majority of the main characters. Venom, as the head alpha of a bear shifter motorcycle club/pack, is a surly, grumpy, tough guy that finds his mate in the abused and sweet omega cougar shifter, Casper. As they grow closer there is a threat from Casper's old pride that adds a bit of drama and definitely amps up the action. I found both of these MC's to be true to character throughout the book and a few of the other bear bikers, like Mayhem. Unfortunately, they were one of the only true positives, as the story floundered under the weight of the poor editing and the inconsistencies in the peripheral information. It's like, the plot is a really nice piece of steak but then a bunch of random stuff like cake frosting and cottage cheese and other equally disturbing items are tossed on top of it, that do nothing to enhance the steak and end up just smothering it in weirdness! It's hard to focus on the meat when you're so busy picking all the crap off the top! So, in conclusion, I'm giving this 3.75* stars, because I did see the potential and I liked a bit of it, but I'm not sure if I'll take a chance on the next book in the series. I'll have to see if the reviews mention the same issues that are present here. It's really a shame because with a little work it could have been so much better!
Revisiting Venom was like stepping back into a story that delivers exactly what it promises. This romantic thriller strikes a balance between intrigue and simplicity, with enough depth to keep you engaged without overloading the plot or prose.
Venom and Casper’s relationship is not your typical grumpy-sunshine dynamic. Instead, it’s grumpy meets spirited. Casper, the underdog omega, shines as the selfless heart of the story. Despite the challenges and complications thrown his way, his strength and determination make him easy to root for. Venom, on the other hand, is the misunderstood antihero with a dark past. His brooding demeanor is layered with pain and complexity, making his connection with Casper all the more compelling. Together, they embody the idea that opposites attract, balancing each other in ways neither could have anticipated.
Venom is a solid start to the Moon Burrow Bears series. The plot is straightforward but engaging, with enough twists to maintain interest. While it doesn’t dive too deeply into complex themes or prose, it doesn’t need to. This book knows its audience and delivers a satisfying blend of romance and action. While it’s not a groundbreaking read, it’s exactly what you’d expect from the cover: an enjoyable, romantic thriller with just the right amount of spice. The chemistry between Casper and Venom drives the story, and their journey together feels authentic and heartwarming.
Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 3/5 A straightforward, enjoyable romance that’s worth revisiting for fans of the genre. Casper and Venom’s story is both heartwarming and exciting, leaving you curious about the rest of the series. The 3/5 spice level is well-suited to the story, enhancing the romance without overpowering the emotional arcs.

An ok read with likable characters. I won't go into detail conc. the editing cause English is not my first language... just beware.
For a big bad biker gang who sell weapons the bears are actually all pretty chill and sweet... except for the anger issues they seem to have when dealing with each other. It's like they are nice granny's only to turn around at someone insulting your roses and bashing that person with your purse.
Casper came out of his shell but there was not much change in him that I could see. He somehow was the same person from start to finish IMO. He is sweet, likable, a bit blind to certain aspects of life (no reaction to two people just randomly bashing each other in front of you? Just a ok, lets sit down and talk about what you did just now...).
I can't see Venom's supposed psycho personality. Everything he displayed, I would say is normal if you consider him being the alpha of a supposed weapons dealing biker gang. Ruthless in battle, yes I would guess it to be a must. Not being overly sentimental when seeing his bears fight in front of him, well he is not their papa and as long as it doesn't impact the group as a whole. Not wanting many people in his private space, well I don't either, there are actual people out there not wanting their home to be some sort of train station.
The storyline for this book was good, but the execution needs a lot of work.
There are errors on almost every page, so I can only assume that this book wasn't seen by an editor or beta readers for proofing. The tense of verbs, including linking and helping, are used incorrectly throughout. Additionally, adverb use is also an issue, but less prevalent. The amount of missing words is staggering, as is the amount of incorrect words. There are also several comma mistakes.
The writing style is fairly simplistic and a little repetitive. There isn't much description nor world building. It's all kind of surface level. There were a few times when I felt a character's emotions, but not often. I was hoping to see more interaction between Venom and Casper, as well as better descriptions of their intimacy and love. But, again, everything is just sort of bullet-pointed rather than fleshed out. The couple of times that Casper and Venom are intimate, they are very rushed and perfunctory. Sadly, there's also no knotty fun in this world, even though most shifter romance, especially mpreg, includes knotting.
It's unfortunate that it's written so poorly, because the storyline itself is good. However, because of the glaring issues detailed above, I don't think I'll be reading books by this author again.
- a MM shifter romance! bear x lion, omegaverse, fated mates, motorcycle club, MPreg, found family, hurt/comfort! - i was so stressed in the first part, just wanted Venom to take Casper away 😂 - this has been intense from the get go and i am a big fan - although i hope Venom doesn’t deny his feelings for too long - the fact that Venom has an air fryer has really tickled me - love that Casper is becoming friends with the other omegas! - ooo we keep getting a few cheeky and intense kisses between these two!! - i really love that Casper did not give up on Venom, he was so patient with him!! - and then Venom finally opened up 🥹 gah i love them - this one is super violent and super graphic, i knew it wasn’t gonna be fluffy but DAMN 😂 - i never know how to feel about the chapter from the POV of the villain it means we don’t get the surprise yannoe? - i liked all the things with the crows - their sex scenes are really really good - hehehehe he’s pregnanttttt - that third act conflict was SO intense but written so well, like was second guessing myself for a second there - SO VIOLENT OH MY GOD, the heart thing?? - love that we got a couple of chapters after all the big scary stuff - and the epilogue was perfect!! just what you needed - okay so i am 100% binging this whole series hehe was so good!!
I was deceived by all the good reviews. Look, if you are looking for a wattpad classic MM OV with a tortured tragic omega and an overly aggressive protective antihero alpha who resists the bond because he is “so bad for him” then this may be for you. But if you value originality, world building, good writing, chemistry, good smut, or interesting plot development then this book is skippable.
It was reparative, felt like it was written for a teenage audience by a teenager, limited in scope and depth, and overall incredibly predictable. At no point was I kept interested in chemistry, plot, writing style, smut, or romance. I cannot stress this enough, the smut SUCKED.
The whole story centers around a very cartoonishly evil alpha that kills the omega MCs father and brother and almost kills the omega, and his road to recovery (which is shockingly fast and overly simplistic) and the overprotective bear shifter that rescues him multiple times, who pushes the omega away because “he isn’t good for him”.
Omegaverse. Shifters (bear and mountain lion). MM. OV. Fated mates. Torture. Scenting. Sending life force. Trauma. Loss of loved ones (brother and brothers best friend on page, other off page). Violence (killing evil lions). Marking. The most boring smut ever. No virgins?no OMD/OWD. No cheating. No breakup. Mpreg. Epilogue a year later with an alpha daughter.

The long awaited mate for Venom has finally arrived. After seeing Venom in so many books, I was so interested to see who his mate would be. Casper lived up to billing. He was spunky, strong and so adorable.
Venom, president of the Grizzly Reapers MC, has never thought he deserved a mate. He felt he had done too many wrongs to deserve something so right. Casper slowly changes his mind though and I really enjoyed seeing Venom be soft for Casper. It was nice seeing this other side of Venom for a change. Casper is coming from a lion pack that has marked him for death. This book starts out on a very tragic note, with Casper losing his father and brother to an unhinged alpha intent on taking over the pack. One thing the new alpha learns is not to mess with Venom or his angry bears. I thought the way Venom ends up taking care of the rogue leader was very apt.
Both Venom and Casper deserved this well won HEA. They stuck with one another even when things got tough. Venom learned his worth and Casper learned that second chances are not to be wasted. There were some grammatical issues, name switches and continuity errors throughout which became tiresome after a while. The story itself was wonderful though. I am so happy that Venom finally got his story.
This is book 1 of Moon Burrow Bears but the characters continue on from the Wright Auto series. You can read it without having first read the other series but you will definitely enjoy it more if you do. This is the story of Venon and Casper. Venon is the president of the Grizzly Reapers MC and is an alpha bear shifter. Casper is an omega mountain lion shifter. They meet when Casper is running for his life. Venom does everything in his power to help him but doesn't really understand why. Venom firmly believes that love and mates are for other people. He doesn't deserve one. Well it is a good thing that Casper is as strong as he is. He can stand up to Venom and help him see the error of his ways. This is their story. I have to say that I wasn't a big fan of Venom's character until this book. The chemistry between Casper and Venom was off the charts. They both have many trials to get through before they get their HEA. This book is well written and easy to read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Dont ask my why I got this far into the book before putting it down, I can't tell you.
What I can tell you is that this book is not good. Absolutely needed a good editor, unfortunately it didn't get one. The writing is so stilted, conversations between characters are awkward, and there are almost no scenes showing you happens, it's all the characters telling you. One good example of this is Casper being self conscious about his scars, wonder what Venom would think, if he'd be turned off etc etc. Cut to 50 pages later and the next mention of the scars is that Venom didn't have a problem and kissed Casper better. There absolutely should have been a full scene about it, and there wasn't. Things like this also mean there was no development of the relationship between Casper and Venom, you don't read about them falling in love. You're told they are in love.
So much happens in the book but nothing is ever actually explored.
Also, just one random chapter in the middle from the antagonists POV, why???
