Save grandma without falling in love with my enemy. Easy … right?

Princess Lisette is determined to rescue her grandmother from the Kingdom of the Wolves. Sneaking through an enemy kingdom won’t be easy, even with a guide. Markus can’t be trusted because he’s one of them. At least, that’s what Lisette tells herself when he makes her laugh, or sets her heart beating faster.

As they face danger after danger, their bickering heats up in a way she never intended. Falling in love isn’t part of her plan. Even if they save Lisette’s grandmother, their relationship would be doomed before it began.

But fate—and their hearts—have other ideas. And when secrets from Markus’s past are revealed, it puts Lisette’s grandmother and her kingdom in even greater danger.

What will Lisette do when she’s forced to choose between her family and her chance at happiness?

This is such an incredible read. You find yourself drawn into this amazing and beautiful world from the get go as we join princess Lisette on her journey to save her grandmother from the wolves. Lisette Is a fantastic character, strong, brave and loyal and Markus, well he is a wolf and is strong and smart but has a secret or two! Their journey is fraught with danger , secrets, laughter and romance and I very much enjoyed the adventure I took with them. A fantastic fairytale retelling of red riding hood that I just loved!

I really enjoyed this retelling of little red riding hood. The author took a classic fairytale and flipped it on its head. She does a great job creating the main characters to fit her story, but still keeping with the fairytale.
The story has just the right amount of action to keep you pulled in. I enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters. It is a love hate relationship between two people that have hidden agendas and secrets to protect. I love the way the whole story comes together at the end.

Wolves and Blades was a wonderful rendition of Red Riding Hood! This beauty had such an original spin on it; with twists and turns that keep you on your toes every step of the way. Lisette was a really easy character to relate to, and seeing her grow into herself throughout the story was an adventure all it's own.

Amanda Kaye takes the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood and twists it upside down and inside out. I loved this story, and I hope there is more to come. I think this could be a wonderful beginning of a series, or at least 2 or 3 books more.

A beautiful story featuring Princess Lisette. Will there be love in the future for her, even though he’s the enemy. A fantasy that will draw you in until you get to the end.

After about the third time rereading Wolves & Blades I decided it’s time to make a review. I love this story so much. It’s become a comfort read at this point.

Let me start by saying that I adore the world building in Kaye’s fairytale retellings. The different cultures and kingdoms that are reminiscent of reality make me so happy. Wolves & Blades has a distinctly German feel which I have a huge weakness for. There are so many little details that add to the charm and fun.

On to the characters! Lisette is such a fun character. She is playful and fun-loving yet determined. She can be a bit impulsive but in this case, it was slightly understandable. Markus is a wonderful mix of wild-mountain-man-recluse and honorable-and-brilliant-gentleman. He is up there in my list of favorite MMCs from retellings. Together, Markus and Lisette are cute, sometimes awkward (in the best way), and so precious.

Wolves & Blades is what I like to call a roadtrip adventure (another weakness). Most of the novel is spent traveling and traversing wilderness before a very satisfying climax and ending. All in all, I love this story and will be rereading it again and again.
