Hanna Hamilton has been fascinated with the Regency era ever since she was a young teen, first discovering historical romance novels by famous authors such as Jane Austen and Lisa Kleypas. She believes that love was just so much more magical back then, more like a fairy tale. She always daydreamed about finding love herself that way, but since that is impossible in the twenty-first century, she decided to write about it instead!
Born in Texas, Hanna Hamilton obtained a degree in Creative Writing and has worked as a literature teacher before becoming a novelist. When she isn’t writing, Hanna likes to explore the countryside with her husband and two children, gaining inspiration from the natural world around her.
So, come on a journey into love, confusion, and redemption all within the Regency era. Hanna hopes that you will enjoy immersing yourself into her novels and that you too will find a love for old-fashioned romance, just as she has.
This book is a hot mess. First they’re kids, a horseback ride accident scars him as a boy. then they’re adults but the book doesn’t really specify how much time has passed. Then they meet again and she treats him like dirt because he’s allowed himself to gain a reputation as a rake but he’s not one. Then her and her sisters attend a ball and nothing happens. Then she goes out for a walk through the woods, trips and knocks herself unconscious on a rock. Conveniently, he’s close, hears her fall, takes her to his castle where she’s totally fine despite being out cold for an entire day. She returns home, but her reputation is ruined and he’s forced to offer for her. They get married in the most boring ceremony ever. Then maybe they might have feelings for each other, but they can’t because he’s got scars on his face. She mentions the scars, he’s very angry. She paints him, he cries. Then they go boating in which the staff is scared of the boats but nothing happens. Then her sisters are concerned about finding husbands but they’re also worried about her. Later they take everyone boating, and one sinks and his mother dies. Suddenly he’s a broken man and no one wants him and FFS he’s a whiny baby. He avoids everyone and he’s like “I have no one!” Despite her literally standing right there. He’s an ass, but then she paints herself into the painting with him and suddenly it’s all fine. Then her sister gets married, to celebrate they decide to go boating again. Wtf.
Throughout the whole novel, she says the most blunt and useless things. Like “this is a responsibility we must bear, and we can’t do it alone. You can’t wallow.” Yes, so helpful is getting him over his grief.
Like, there’s no actual plot here, and the character dialogue is so stiff it’s like reading a love story between two regency Vulcans!

An awful accident caused the young man to be scarred for life; an accident in the woods by the young woman who had come to the young man’s help after his accident, brought about a decision to help her in the storm, thus making it a scandal about his good intentions to assist her. It led to a marriage for all the wrong reasons, but over time made everything worked out for the best. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about blessings winning over conflight,
Oh Hannah! Thank you for sharing this story with us. From the beginning to the end this story kept me captivated. Veronica has been friends with Adam, the heir to the Dukedom of Arthstone, for most of their lives. Trouble came into there lives by means of an accident that Veronica helped Adam until help arrived in the form of Adam's Father. Several years later they meet again Adam is seeing Veronica in a new way. If you want to know how it all came out you need to get this book to read the story.
There are three sisters with Lady Veronica being the eldest. She has vowed to remain a spinster as she feels that others are using her to get to her sisters. Duke Adam isn’t ready to get married but notes that if he did that Veronica would be his choice. When a scandal is about to become reality, will the Duke ask Veronica to marry him as a marriage of convenience? This author has a way of writing her stories to keep you in suspense as to what will happen next. A heart-warming story.
Loved the story of a Duke who was disfigured in an accident in his eighteenth year. Veronica was a few years younger and. Her family had spent every Christmas at his families Castle until his accident. Ten years later when they were reunited when she was injured he took her to his Castle as it was closer than hers. Being forced to marry they were trying to make an agreeable life together. Did they finally fall in love and make everything all right?
There is a small problem with this story. At first the Duke is able to rescue Veronica while on horseback and ride to make her an offer of marriage. Later it seems he is afraid to ride ever since the accident. I do like that Veronica is able to reach out to Aaron through her painting. Also please check the use of the word 'attenuated ', perhaps it should be ' accentuated .'
Wonderful story, great story line, wonderful characters. Adam, was scared from a accident when he was young, self conscious about his scares. Veronica was his childhood friend. She was the only one to help him, as she held him after the accident. Now their adults and forced to marry, they must find a way to live together as man and wife. It's Veronica 's painting that helps Adam realize the truth, that he's not alone. Thank you ♥️
This book needs another pass with an editor to help create a more cohesive storyline and further develop the characters. I am not typically a reader who enjoys prologues, but the author’s decision to open chapter 1 featuring the protagonists as children was a very odd choice.
Three sisters the oldest sister is much overlooked. The hero Adam is cold and trying to take his responsibilities seriously after his fathers death. Adam helps Veronica after an accident, he brings her to his home but rumors start and they must have a marriage of convenience. They eventually realize their love. The storyline is good.
Adam and Victoria ended up having to get married because of the scandal when he found her passed out in the woods. He was on horse back when he took her back to his home but you say after they got married that he’s afraid to ride anymore and only leads them. Also they never consummated their marriage.
Well written story of a young couple who get married in a marriage of convenience. Adam had a unfortunate experience when .he was 18. This helped to shape his life until he falls in love with Veronica. Veronica was ruined by Adam despite having many chaperones in the Duke's house.
A beautiful story of love, life and forgiveness. Adam was weakened by his father's abuse but healed by Veronica's love. As it was written, "Out of tragedy something good comes."
Well written characters, with interesting backstories that help explain their interactions and responses to one another! The storyline is tangled and twisted…pulling the reader along, while hiding what the final outcome will be!
Traumatized by a riding accident ten year’s ago, and brow beat by his cold and arrogant father, our hero can’t believe anyone could ever love him! A marriage of convenience, and she slowly tries to help him! Very good book!
The usual story but with a twist I found myself with tears 😢running down my cheeks at the last few chapters.I enjoyed reading the story line and the characters within developed slowly 😊.A nice piece of work.
There was such a huge flaw in this story that I almost didn’t finish it in silent protest. The heroine was rescued by the hero ON HORSEBACK - a crucial event early on. Then, in the “reconciliation” part later, the heroine worked very gently with the hero to overcome his fear (since way before he had rescued her) of riding! Such an enormous disconnect should never have made it past any beta readers or editors, much less been part of the author’s storyline in the first place. Or did I misread something during the rescue event? Frankly, I didn’t care for the hero at all. He was much too weepy and passionless.
