Rate this book
Dr. Alexandra Edison lives a life that many would be envious of. A beautiful world-famous fiancée, more money than she could spend, and a career that she loved. To honor her grandfather’s wishes, she moved from L.A. to Seattle to take over one of her family’s hospitals. When her perfect life fell apart, the last person she expected to be there to help her pick up the pieces was Dr. Blake Westmore. The woman who was cold and indifferent towards her since the day they met. But one touch from Blake made Alexandra question everything she knew about her life. In the end, life forced her to make choices that could end up costing her more than she bargained for.
Dr. Blake Westmore thought she had all she needed. A career that she loved and her fill of women with no commitments as she did not do relationships. When her very engaged new boss arrived on the scene, the last thing Blake wanted was to be attracted to her. Despite doing everything in her power to stay away from Alexandra, when her world fell apart, Blake could not stay away. When she got her first taste of Alexandra, she knew there was no going back. Always in control of her emotions, Blake felt anything but in control around Alexandra. Consumed with lust and possessiveness, she just had to have her. Consequences be damned.
One night of passion turned into a week of romance in Paris. A week of romance in Paris turned into a love affair filled with passion that will change both women forever. Circumstances beyond their control forced Alexandra to choose between her past and her present and Blake thought she had no choice but to let her go. In the end, life made choices for them and maybe it was just not meant to be, or was it?

**'If your storytelling is smoothly acceptable by readers and it's not hideously critique then consequentially, you're doing something good with your words/sentences/paragraphs -- so keep on telling your stories..'

Elating read!
A nicely and efficiently told book #1 in this ongoing series. It might appear that this slowly developed and i mean slowly -- friendship to romantic relationship took forever but as the storyline progress, it was worth it --- because of that dramatic cliffhanger towards the ending.
Recommended book!

Interesting read indeed and something which I wasn’t expecting. Slow burn romance between 2 thirty-something MDs…Very rich, very smart, very beautiful Dr. Alexandra Edison who took over running of a hospital in Seattle owned by her family where a certain Dr. Blake Westmore heads up the General Surgery Department.

When our 2 doctors met, Alexandra was happily engaged with an A-lister before things go sideways while Doctor-I-don’t-do relationship Blake always keep her distance and was aloof when Alexandra is in her presence. Our 2 doctors eventually became friends and before long things heat up between them. And when I say heat up, it really was...all sizzling hot 🔥 Things can’t be all good and dandy between Alex and Blake; and like all good romance, things took a turn for worse with the book ending in a cliffhanger. Luckily Book 2 is out so you don't have to wait to read what happened next to the good doctors.

A medical romance? Count me in. This was my first book by Skye, and I was really curious about it.

I loved the passionate storyline about Alexandra and Blake. Both are strong women who are highly successful doctors and know exactly what they want out of life. There’s a long slow-burn period, and at some points I wondered how the two of them would ever end up together. I also liked the pace of the plot, the drama at the end, and the resulting cliffhanger. The book was hard to put down, and honestly, I’m already itching to read the second book in the series.

Now for the downside: The writing wasn’t the best and was sometimes really bumpy. I had trouble with it especially at the beginning and had to get used to this choppy writing style. For example, the two would be in one situation, and in the next sentence it was suddenly the next day, or there was an important surgery they’d spent weeks preparing for, and it was wrapped up in two sentences.

Nevertheless, I found the love story between Alexandra and Blake beautiful. There’s great chemistry between the two women, and even though it really takes a while for them to get closer, it’s worth the wait. The spice? It was fantastic and electrifying. Definitely worth recommending.

Thanks to Emmi—this buddy read was another delight!

I was intrigued by the rave reviews, and because I saw it being pegged as a sapphic Grey's Anatomy. The storyline was intriguing but I found the writing style to be a bit too simplistic.

Did Not Finish
May 18, 2026
I really tried to finish this one, and I thought taking a break and coming back to it later would help, but this book didn't not reach any expectations I had for it.

The writing is so clunky and stilted and the chemistry between the characters feels so lacking and so dependent on their sexual attraction to eachother. The central conflicts have almost no weight, and the setting feels half baked at best.

But the largest gripe for me is that Alexandra and Blake are the most remarkably perfect characters I have ever read about and its just......boring, truly boring.

There was none of the suspense, action or angst that I expected to find in a medical romance, a matter a fact I would call this a very cozy lukewarm read and not in a positive way.

I don't know, I guess I just wanted so much more out of this.

5 stars. I finished this book and the first thing I said was “I know you lying! Is that really the end?”. Talk about a serious cliffhanger! I wanted to be petty and take a star off just for that (rude af) ending but this book was so damn good that I couldn’t do it. It deserves all five stars.

This book was a little over 500 pages and it still wasn’t long enough for me. I wanted more and I did not want the book to end. I loved it that much. The writing was great and had me hooked from the beginning. Alexandra and Blake are both doctors and are both apprehensive about relationships. Alexandra is in a longterm relationship with a celebrity in the beginning but then that falls apart and Blake likes sex with no attachments. The two of them develop a lovely friendship and the chemistry between them was so good. They go to Paris together for a week and start up a friends with benefits situation even though they both were so into each other and the sex scenes were hot and the emotions between the two started to get intense even though they were trying to play it cool.

And then bam! I got punched in the face by that (again, rude af) ending and I need book two right now. This was such a fantastic read and I cannot wait for more. I definitely can see myself re-reading this because the romance is good and the characters are very likable and endearing. Highly, highly recommend.

This was definitely a sloooow burn, but once things finally started coming together, it was absolutely worth the wait 😜. The tension kept building throughout the whole story, and even if it took time, the payoff made it satisfying in the end.

That ending though… I’m still annoyed about it. It left me frustrated! because now I need to know and safe to say I’ll be picking up the next book in the series.

If It's Meant to Be

MC Dr. Alexandra Edison & Dr. Blake Westmore

From the beginning of the book there was a  fire between Alexander and Blake. Blake felt like Alexander could see everything inside and knew just what she wanted and needed.

Alexander felt so deeply for Blake she wanted their relationship to move forward.  The love scenes were omg 😳.  Fire!

There is a lot going on in this book, and it kept my attention.   I couldn’t put it down. I don’t want to give anything away but you should definitely read this book!

The ending of the book definitely is somewhat of a cliffhanger.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I highly recommend it.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank the author for the arc. This is the author‘s debut novel and it’s definitely well written and holds your attention from start to finish. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️  and definitely looking forward to book 2!

The narrators good, why I finished the listen, but this is a completely bonkers book. The settings so unrealistic that you just roll your eyes. Alexandra is a billionaire, CEO, surgeon, amazingly beautiful, her IQ top notch, she cooks like a master chef and on top of that a wonderful person. This is not an author I plan to revisit.

what?!?

The ending? Really?!? The book is so good that I have to start with that… the protagonist characters are beautifully written.. so much so that I’m disappointed about the ending.. which is a set up for the next series. Well written bravo..

Skye Von Triessen’s debut is a total win. Blake and Alexandra’s shared passion for medicine helps close the distance Blake puts between them from their very first meeting, and watching their relationship grow from colleagues to something more had me completely hooked. This story is emotional, passionate, and undeniably steamy. The audiobook narration by Quinn Riley and Charlie L. Wood elevates the experience even further—their performances add incredible depth and emotion, and each voice perfectly captures Blake and Alexandra’s unique vibe. I couldn’t stop listening and heading into book 2 now!

I love a good medical romance, and this one has doctors using all that anatomy education to perfection. All was just ducky until that last page. How dare you, Skye Von Triessen! Oh, book one. Ok. I'm not going into plot details, just read it and enjoy that last page for yourself. 4.25 stars. See y'all in book 2!

U can't end the book like that.seriously i had this big urge to give this a 1 star just for the way it ended but I'll be lying if I didn't say that this is one of my favourite reads this year.

Please don't let us wait for another year for the sequel.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! IT'S A FAVORITE!! Alexandra and Blake are Doctors, Alexandra is the new chief, and recently broken up with her fiance' after she cheated on Alex for over a month. Alexandra slowly becomes friends with Blake and then more. Then after months, Taylor shows up to try to reconcile. When Taylor is brought to the hospital after being in an accident Alexandra is forced to operate on her. Then things get complicated. This book is a page turner! I can't wait to read Books 2 &3! Worth more than 5 stars!

This book grabbed my attention and had a good enough storyline, but the writing was so clunky. It’s in dire need of an editor. I can’t really decide if I want to move onto the next book or not. On one hand, it’s a cliffhanger and I do care about the characters to some extent. On the other, it was a slog to get through some of the writing and there are so many other books I want to read right now.

Here’s my least favorite quote:
> She knew the situation must not be easy on Blake. If the tables were turned, she knew the impact it would have on her. She understood their current predicament must be challenging for Blake. If the tables were turned, she knew the impact it would have on her.

I read this a few times to make sure I hadn’t accidentally read this a few times/lost my place the first time.

Wow

The drama is crazy. That Taylor accident is karma. I hate Alexandra's decision because really... why? My baby Blake...girl... you golden. Alexandra doesn't know what she is giving, better yet, she does but she just being stupid. I love Victoria, I wonder if she's married.

Good story. Intense emotions. Hot 🔥 intimacy...🤤 Part 2, let's go.

I usually don't write reviews after reading a book, but for this one I absolutely HAD TO make an exception.

I just finished reading it and I AM IN SHOCK. It ended with a cliffhanger SO GOOD that I whispered "what the fuck" and "no fucking way" to myself at least a dozen times and ended up staring and the void for a whole fucking minute and had to RUN for a cigarette to alleviate the tension (pardon my french, and I'm not in any way promoting smoking but as a matter of fact I am a smoker and smoking a cigarette after this book was just imperative).

I wasn't entirely convinced I would end up loving this book as much as I did, but once I reached the 30/40% mark I knew it would not disappoint. Little did I know that I would actually end up having such a strong reaction to it.

The slow burn was incredible, as well as the overall development of events. It just kept building up, plus the spice??? SO well written and steamy. I could not put this book down, and I hope that the beginning of this review alone will convince whoever is reading this to give this book a chance. I promise you will not regret it.
