Dr. Alexandra Edison lives a life that many would be envious of. A beautiful world-famous fiancée, more money than she could spend, and a career that she loved. To honor her grandfather’s wishes, she moved from L.A. to Seattle to take over one of her family’s hospitals. When her perfect life fell apart, the last person she expected to be there to help her pick up the pieces was Dr. Blake Westmore. The woman who was cold and indifferent towards her since the day they met. But one touch from Blake made Alexandra question everything she knew about her life. In the end, life forced her to make choices that could end up costing her more than she bargained for. Dr. Blake Westmore thought she had all she needed. A career that she loved and her fill of women with no commitments as she did not do relationships. When her very engaged new boss arrived on the scene, the last thing Blake wanted was to be attracted to her. Despite doing everything in her power to stay away from Alexandra, when her world fell apart, Blake could not stay away. When she got her first taste of Alexandra, she knew there was no going back. Always in control of her emotions, Blake felt anything but in control around Alexandra. Consumed with lust and possessiveness, she just had to have her. Consequences be damned. One night of passion turned into a week of romance in Paris. A week of romance in Paris turned into a love affair filled with passion that will change both women forever. Circumstances beyond their control forced Alexandra to choose between her past and her present and Blake thought she had no choice but to let her go. In the end, life made choices for them and maybe it was just not meant to be, or was it?

Elating read! A nicely and efficiently told book #1 in this ongoing series. It might appear that this slowly developed and i mean slowly -- friendship to romantic relationship took forever but as the storyline progress, it was worth it --- because of that dramatic cliffhanger towards the ending. Recommended book!
Interesting read indeed and something which I wasn’t expecting. Slow burn romance between 2 thirty-something MDs…Very rich, very smart, very beautiful Dr. Alexandra Edison who took over running of a hospital in Seattle owned by her family where a certain Dr. Blake Westmore heads up the General Surgery Department.
When our 2 doctors met, Alexandra was happily engaged with an A-lister before things go sideways while Doctor-I-don’t-do relationship Blake always keep her distance and was aloof when Alexandra is in her presence. Our 2 doctors eventually became friends and before long things heat up between them. And when I say heat up, it really was...all sizzling hot 🔥 Things can’t be all good and dandy between Alex and Blake; and like all good romance, things took a turn for worse with the book ending in a cliffhanger. Luckily Book 2 is out so you don't have to wait to read what happened next to the good doctors.
I really got hooked on this book. I so want to read the next one! Please hurry and finish it! I highly recommend this book. I loved the steamy parts. Great story and characters.
I was intrigued by the rave reviews, and because I saw it being pegged as a sapphic Grey's Anatomy. The storyline was intriguing but I found the writing style to be a bit too simplistic.
5 stars. I finished this book and the first thing I said was “I know you lying! Is that really the end?”. Talk about a serious cliffhanger! I wanted to be petty and take a star off just for that (rude af) ending but this book was so damn good that I couldn’t do it. It deserves all five stars.
This book was a little over 500 pages and it still wasn’t long enough for me. I wanted more and I did not want the book to end. I loved it that much. The writing was great and had me hooked from the beginning. Alexandra and Blake are both doctors and are both apprehensive about relationships. Alexandra is in a longterm relationship with a celebrity in the beginning but then that falls apart and Blake likes sex with no attachments. The two of them develop a lovely friendship and the chemistry between them was so good. They go to Paris together for a week and start up a friends with benefits situation even though they both were so into each other and the sex scenes were hot and the emotions between the two started to get intense even though they were trying to play it cool.
And then bam! I got punched in the face by that (again, rude af) ending and I need book two right now. This was such a fantastic read and I cannot wait for more. I definitely can see myself re-reading this because the romance is good and the characters are very likable and endearing. Highly, highly recommend.
From the beginning of the book there was a fire between Alexander and Blake. Blake felt like Alexander could see everything inside and knew just what she wanted and needed.
Alexander felt so deeply for Blake she wanted their relationship to move forward. The love scenes were omg 😳. Fire!
There is a lot going on in this book, and it kept my attention. I couldn’t put it down. I don’t want to give anything away but you should definitely read this book!
The ending of the book definitely is somewhat of a cliffhanger.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I highly recommend it. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the author for the arc. This is the author‘s debut novel and it’s definitely well written and holds your attention from start to finish. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and definitely looking forward to book 2!
Thank fuck there’s gonna be a second book after that ending. I loved this book, I felt like the ending was rushed, but knowing there’s a second book I don’t mind now lol.
The ending? Really?!? The book is so good that I have to start with that… the protagonist characters are beautifully written.. so much so that I’m disappointed about the ending.. which is a set up for the next series. Well written bravo..
U can't end the book like that.seriously i had this big urge to give this a 1 star just for the way it ended but I'll be lying if I didn't say that this is one of my favourite reads this year.
Please don't let us wait for another year for the sequel.
Skye Von Triessen’s debut is a winner! Blake and Alexandra’s mutual love of medicine allows them to bridge the chasm that Blake established the first time she laid eyes on Alexandra. As they move from work colleagues to more, I hung on Von Triessen’s every word. This book is emotional, passionate, and steamy. I can’t wait to read book two next!!
I have been on a streak of average books till I chanced upon Von Triessen’s If It’s Meant to be. I am pretty surprised by the caliber of writing, flow and plot. I am now proceeding to the second book in this series.
The drama is crazy. That Taylor accident is karma. I hate Alexandra's decision because really... why? My baby Blake...girl... you golden. Alexandra doesn't know what she is giving, better yet, she does but she just being stupid. I love Victoria, I wonder if she's married.
Good story. Intense emotions. Hot 🔥 intimacy...🤤 Part 2, let's go.
For anyone contemplating … read the book.Excellent story line. Character development and dialogue is excellent. The book reads smoothly with a decent pace to where it was hard to put down. New fav author
I did enjoy reading this and looking forward to book 2. I am writing this review a few weeks later and I think my biggest complaint is the errors in the book. I wish someone would have really just read back through this one slowing to catch some of the typos. Either way, I will read book two.
The book was great but if I would known it was a series I nd I have to wait for the next book I would not have read it . I hate waiting to find what happens I cried at this and I don't have closure I PUT 5stars cause it is good but i am pissedp WHEN IS UR NEXT BOOK. FB. BARBARA J CONNOLLY
➬➱➫➩➪【3.75 Stars】 This was Skye Von Triessen’s debut novel and I expected a lot based on the positive reviews. It did live up to them. Based on the blurb, yes, it is very similar to Grey’s Anatomy. However, the medical side takes a bit of a backseat. They are in a hospital and working, but the book primarily focuses on romance. I enjoyed the representation of femme femme and Blake and Alexandra’s chemistry. I received this from Kindle Unlimited.
I became easily biased towards characters named Blake from Loved and Lost so I knew I’d love this Blake as well. I think what made this book successful was the slow burn and the chemistry that builds between both Alexandra and Blake.
I do wish the book wasn’t quite so long. There was a lot of repetitiveness and I think it dragged a bit midway. I think there were some odd instances of jokes and eye contact too. The language was also a bit lacking. Nothing blew me away with the writing and I wished it was more complex. Still a great first book. Recommended if you love Grey’s Anatomy. ➢Happy reading!
This book grabbed my attention and had a good enough storyline, but the writing was so clunky. It’s in dire need of an editor. I can’t really decide if I want to move onto the next book or not. On one hand, it’s a cliffhanger and I do care about the characters to some extent. On the other, it was a slog to get through some of the writing and there are so many other books I want to read right now.
Here’s my least favorite quote: > She knew the situation must not be easy on Blake. If the tables were turned, she knew the impact it would have on her. She understood their current predicament must be challenging for Blake. If the tables were turned, she knew the impact it would have on her.
I read this a few times to make sure I hadn’t accidentally read this a few times/lost my place the first time.
Definitely in my top 10 books I have read recently. I usually like books with dialogue but this one had just right amount I can't wait for part 2 of the journey
i know my rating is low, but i hope that wouldn't cloud anyone's opinion or interest in reading this book. i actually liked this one and would love to read the second book soon, however i did find the writing a bit lacking.
I’m genuinely surprised by how highly rated this book is. Going into it, I had high expectations, but they were quickly dashed in the very first scene, which felt completely unrealistic.
The core issue for me was that the writing came across as... I hesitate to say "juvenile," but it felt underdeveloped, like it was written by someone new to writing. I struggled to connect with any of the characters, which points to a lack of character development. The supposed chemistry between the leads also didn’t land for me—it just felt flat. Additionally, the setting didn’t feel well-realized either. The book is supposed to take place in Seattle with presumably American characters (I don't think we even found out exactly where Alexandra is from??), but the way the characters spoke was oddly formal which made them feel disconnected from an authentic American voice. I would bet money that the author isn't American/doesn't live in America as you could tell based on the dialogue.
Another significant problem was how often the perspective would switch, sometimes even mid-paragraph. This made it confusing to track whose thoughts I was reading and disrupted the flow of the story.
Overall I think the author has a good baseline but I do think she could benefit from some technical writing classes to help clean up some of these issues.
I read this because algorithms kept suggesting books in this world, and I figured I’d start at the beginning. And to be honest, I was all over the place with it.
I almost put it down at the start, for two reasons. 1. Alexandra attempts to impress her subordinates with her professionalism at an all-hands meeting AT WORK… by making out with her girlfriend in the middle of her speech in the front of the room. 2. Other than her questionable choices in meeting behavior, Alexandra is rich, a genius (her IQ is specifically highlighted), a world-class surgeon, ALSO a CEO, super hot, dating an Oscar-nominated movie star, her mother is all this too (except the movie star), and oh yes, she’s beautiful on the inside as well. Really? Like, five of the eight wouldn’t have sufficed?
Anyway, somehow, I couldn’t quite put it down. The story was intriguing enough, I guess? Then the typos got to be a bit much. Dad is both Colin and Collin within four lines, for instance. Then finally the slow burn rolled on and came to fruition and that whole middle section was the happiest I was the whole book! Then there was a bunch of drama toward the end that alternately felt cliche and awfully far-fetched. And then… it ended on a cliffhanger, and it looks like it’s not resolved in the next book, either.
At a high level, I liked the story plenty. Slow burn, a character with over the top walls, the its-not-a-relationship relationship, that was all great. But the roller-coaster of other things was tough.
I’d like to read a more recent book by this same author and see if it fits me better, I guess. There was definitely something there, I couldn’t walk away, just all in all this wasn’t the one for me.
Be warned that this book is the first part of a book serie. You won't get the closure you are expecting. If you think you don't have the patience, just wait for book 2 that will be out soon. Now that it is said : Two surgeons in Seattle...as a grey's anatomy early fan, i signed up immediately. There were less medical details that i was expecting. The book really focus on Blake and Alexandra relationship and does it well The first part of the book is pure sexual tension and slow burn. Blake hides her feelings so well, that Alexandra totally misread her at first. Then the other part of the book was so steamy my brain almost melted. Now let's talk about that cliffhanger ending : I know some readers were baffled by it. The writer pulled a telenovela twist ending and personally, I loved it. I think it was clever for her to not choose the easy way that would have made the reader feel instant satisfaction. It would have felt rush when you think about the relationship and emotional stage both MC are in at the end of the book. This way made sense, and gives it a realistic and so dramatic dimension that will bring way more depth. Moreover that means a book 2 and a world of possilities : the harder the journey is, the more fulfilling the end will be. I can't wait to read the next book to follow Blake and Alexandra's journey. The whole book is well written and easy to read. Excellent debut novel, i recommend it.
My rating is based purely upon the content of this novel and not it’s genre. Personally I do not enjoy cliffhanger endings. After investing the amount of time and effort to reach the “final word” of a story, I frankly need the feeling of an “afterglow “ from my the experience 😉. I also feel kind of manipulated by an my author who uses her skills into reading her next work. It’s like sitting in a gourmet’s kitchen for hours, and then being asked to comeback next week to taste the final results. You know it will be great, so why make me wait? Perhaps I will masochistically accept her invitation to return, but it will be grudgingly 🫤. The characters here are all well constructed and the dialogue is both intelligent and often humorous and I will read the sequel…. But it better be good 🙏.
