Sharma has a typical way of writing history. He systematically traces archaeological sources of the past and keeps them at check while reading the textual sources. He then makes a comprehensive analysis of what might or might not have happened in the past!
This is what he does when he looks for the Aryans in the ancient Indian past. He carefully evaluates and analyses their presence and absence in certain cultural and geographical contexts in the subcontinent and beyond. The Cameo is a brief essay that looks for Aryans in the world through their material and textual presence.

Ram sharan Sharma puts archaeology in the center in his historical investigations, unlike other historians.
