Keira Montclair is the pen name of an author who lives in South Carolina with her husband. She writes fast-paced historical romance, often with children as secondary characters.
If she’s not writing, she prefers to spend time with her grandchildren. She’s worked as a high school math teacher, a registered nurse, and an office manager. She loves ballet, mathematics, puzzles, learning anything new, and creating new characters for her readers to fall in love with.
She considers her work done well when her readers shed tears over her stories, but there’s always a happy ending! Her bestselling series is a family saga that follows two medieval Scottish clans through three generations and now numbers over fifty books.
Molly’s lack of confidence and Tormod following her around like a lost puppy are just too ridiculous. And for Molly to have NEVER looked at her own reflection in her 27 years because her real father told her she was ugly is ludicrous and for her to be soooo uncomfortable in a dress was just too stupid for words. And, oh yeah, here’s just a few of the players in this book: Sorcha, Gwen, Logan, Jamie, Jake, Braden, Coll, Art, Magnus, Ashlyn, Brigid, Maggie, Gavin, Torrian, Lily, Bethia, Jennet, Quade, Brenna, Davinia, Ranulf, Gregor, Bearchun, Shaw, Lyall, and I don’t know how many I might have missed. That’s a lot of characters in a 200 page book. I was lost too many times.
I did like a few of the other’s in the story but I just couldn’t like Tormod or Molly. They were flat and dreary characters. Nothing at all to like. There was nothing alpha about our hero. His brother was mean to him growing up and his father always took Lyall’s side so all he wanted in life was to be better than Lyall at something and make his father notice him. Really? That’s nothing much to strive for, in my opinion.
Anyway, at 35% I quit. Too boring and too many characters.
I have no idea if there was sex, but there was none up to the point that I quit, and definitely no swearing.
As to the narrator: Paul Woodson was this entire book had going for it. His voices were good and he read with lots of emotion. I would definitely want to listen to him again.
This is a good Highlander romance, and a good addition to the Highland Clan series. This one gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars.
I liked Tormod, and thought he was good for Molly. I also liked how he realized that helping her meet her goals was more important to him than meeting his own -- he had to truly love her to make that decision.
I liked Molly, and understood how her past drove her behavior. What happened to her as a child was sad, and she still dealt with the trauma as an adult. I liked how Tormod was able to get her to talk about it, and helped her to understand that she was not ugly/useless like she had been told, and that she had a lot to offer her adopted family. I did think, though, that her recovery from her self-esteem issues was too quick -- she had spent years believing she was ugly/useless, so I think it would have taken a long time for her to get past that.
I was glad that Molly and Tormod found their HEA -- they were good together, and they both needed someone who understood them, and would always be in their corner.
I also liked most of the other characters, especially little Jennet, who was so smart, feisty, and adorable. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
I just loved, loved, loved Molly and Tormod's story. It was great to see her overcome her insecurities as were his. What kept me laughing out loud were Jennet's antics and most of all... something I always knew would happen...were Gwyneth and Logan's reaction to any male who would attempt to get close to any of their daughter's. Those were LOL moments for me. Anyone who has ever read Logan and Gweynie's story (Highland Sparks) and Journey To the Highlands (this one first) knows that they would receive their pleasant comeuppances when they would have their own children. I thank this author for allowing me the opportunity to witness part of it through Molly's story. I always knew Gwyneth and Logan would be very protective of their own lassie's and I pitied any male that would attempt to get close. I so look forward to their other daughter's stories, just so I can LOL some more. I think the funniest one will be when it is Brigid's turn. I also look forward to Jaime's story soon.
The Highland Clan series continue to be a worthy read. I often look for changes in my reading habits. Becoming bored with supernatural. romance, mysteries, etc, etc. But. I always come back to Keira Montclair Highlander's . The strong women characters has a draw for me. The author makes them capable of completing with highland man and remaining sexually appealing . . . soft, ruff and tough. The storyline still has a different optimal highland pull, with damsels in distress or hunky highland man in trouble or causing turmoil with other clans. Molly. has all of the norm of a great storytelling and a worthy read
So many of these books are blending together in hindsight but that's what I get for reading them all together, in a row, and writing the review like a month later. But Molly is the adopted daughter of Logan and Gwenyth who are also favorites from the Clan Grant series and probably some of the most recurring characters in every book after. Molly is dealing with low self esteem and the rejection of her birth parents and still trying to prove her self as worthy to her adoptive parents after all these years. Tormod is in love with Molly but also intimidated by her dad who is supposed to be super well respected and powerful. Overall a fun read.
Awesome read!!! Have loved all the books in this series. So hoping that there will be more to come. After all there is many more characters I have grown to love and have followed in these books that I would love to read more about. Would highly recommend this whole series! Can't just read one. (Would like to see what Glen of Buchanan is planning and how he will be stopped. )
This may be my fault. I've read this entire series, starting with Alexander Grant, all in a row.....without stopping. This story was good, I didn't think it had the depth of the previous books. I liked it but if it had been the first book, I wouldn't have continued reading the series. Will I continue? Yes, I will. I'll take a breather for a few weeks first.
I enjoyed this book on Molly because she was a very insecure young lass that gained her confidence from her drive to make something of herself. She needed to be loved and recognized and with her drive for that need she became a person that everyone treasured and respected. ,Therefore she developed the same feeling for herself. This was an exception read,
The saga of the cousins continues. So much has happened since the first story of Alexander and Maddie. Kiera's writing makes her stories come alive like your right in the middle of the story. I thank you for the 1st book in this storyline that you offered for free. It started me on an exciting journey.
I have enjoyed reading through the generations of the grants and Ramsay’s beginning when they were mortal enemies. I especially enjoy how the books evolve to include new members. Keitra has a gift for keeping the personalities of clan members intact as they were originally introduced.
Enjoyed the book 6, as I have the others. Full of adventures and then the finding of love. I suggest you give it a try. I like the finding of one's self to over come the harshness one's own family can cause.
. The Highland clan series is a wonderful series each story has its own plot yet include the same actors I like that they are out in a timely fashion and look forward to the next
I liked this book even though some of what is in other books in the series, I found a bit tedious to reread. I guess that is what binds them all together. Well written just not as exciting as I had hoped therefore I didn't give it a 5 star rating.
Maybe I’m a hopeless romantic, but I’ve enjoyed all of the Clan Grant and Highland Clan books. When I finish one I look forward to starting the next and love how past story lines and characters weave in and out of each new story.
Very much enjoy the characters and how they are developing from previous book into current story. Still bit of conflict/mystery and romance but not overwhelming. Looking forward to next book in this series.
I do enjoyed this book about Molly and Tormod. This series gets better and better with each book. There was so much action, suspense, drama and romance throughout it. Can't wait to read the next book.
Highlander Molly (Clan Ramsey)and Tormod Moriston (Clan Grant) had to go on a journey to discover trust, team work, and love. That's exactly what happened while searching for her kidnapped wee 👪 members, Jennet and Brigie.
I love a story about a strong heroine. This tale was no different. It was filled with good vs. evil, love and laughter, memories of had things from the past and how they were overcome.
I don't know what I can say about this book that U haven't already said about the other books I have read by this author, Keira Montclair. Its amazing. I loved this story!!
I really liked this book but I love anything Scottish. This is the only book of the series I've read. I am glad Molly was able to make peace with her mama. This is a honest review.
