Winter Love knows how to give. He gave himself his own name after all, and he’s given love to many young men who later moved on with someone they wanted more. Too many. So he’s stopped putting himself out there to be hurt by the young little birds he prefers, though he does still enjoy going to the gentlemen’s club where he has a membership. He’s older, old-fashioned, eccentric, and content to be more about people watching these days.

Harley McBride is new to New York City, having left his home in Texas for a more welcoming town. He’s hard-working, friendly, and has a curious nature, which means he’s having a great time meeting people. When his roommate takes him to an interesting new club, he decides to introduce himself to a man who is fascinating to him, even from across the room.

Caught off-guard, Winter takes a chance in return, and asks Harley to let him make up Harley’s dark eyes. Things begin to heat up, and the two of them connect in ways that neither of them could have anticipated. But Winter knows he needs to tread carefully, and Harley is used to being independent and handling things on his own. Will they be able to find a path that suits them both, or will their relationship stay simply sin deep?

Sin Deep is set in The Cowboy and the Dom universe and features an opposites attract, May-December relationship.

JODI spent too many years in New York and San Francisco stage managing classical plays, edgy fringe work, and the occasional musical. She, therefore, is overdramatic, takes herself way too seriously, and has been known to randomly break out in song. Her men are imperfect but genuine, stubborn but likable, often kinky, and frequently their own worst enemies. They are characters you can’t help but fall in love with while they stumble along the path to their happily ever after.

For those looking to get on her good side, Jodi’s addictions include nonfat lattes, Malbec and tequila however you pour it. She’s also obsessed with Shakespeare and Broadway musicals. She can be found wearing sock monkey gloves while typing when it’s cold, and on the beach enjoying the sun and the ocean when it’s hot. When she’s not writing and/or vacuuming sand out of her laptop, Jodi mentors queer youth and will drop everything for live music. Jodi lives near New York City with her beautiful wife, and together they are mothers of dragons (cleverly disguised as children) and slaves to an enormous polydactyl cat.

I was a big fan of The Cowboy and the Dom series, so it's really great to get back in that universe with new characters. Winter Love, a librarian, has been a member of a NYC BDSM club for years. He's had various lovers, but they've always left him. Now, he's rather lonely, withdrawn, and more of a voyeur to the club activities. Harley McBride, a mover, is a Texan who has recently arrived in NYC and is subletting a room from the friend of a friend who it happens attends the same club. On Mardi Gras, the friend invites Harley to come to the club with him and although Harley knows nothing about BDSM he agrees. There, he meets Winter and their relationship begins with a strong attraction. Winter is scared of being hurt again and Harley is concerned with fitting in and learning more about the lifestyle that he finds he likes a lot. Can these two men overcome their fears to form a long-lasting relationship?

This book is unique because Winter is dominant, but he doesn't identify strongly with the Dom/sub dynamic. He is more of a sensual dominant who enjoys making up his boy and dressing him in attractive clothing. He enjoys a more simple lifestyle of good meals, strolls in the park, leisure at home, soft music, and good books. He is low-protocol with only a few of the behaviors of the D/s relationship. Harley is a delightful character who is honest, open, willing, and affectionate The love between Winter and Harley is the real story and makes for a great book.

I wasn’t sure if I liked this book at first because it’s a very slow burn story but I ended up being fascinated by it. Two very different men meet in this novel set in “The Cowboy and the Dom” universe by Jodi Payne and BA Tortuga. Winter Love is a rather jaded older man who meets new to New York Harley McBride at a party in a club. Harley is so new to all of this that he doesn’t even realize that his roommate has taken him to a kink club. This naivety is what I didn’t like at first because no one explains things to Harley as he stumbles through the world he is encountering mostly because everyone expects that he knows what is what. In lesser hands this could have easily been a disaster or come across as mean but these two authors do a wonderful job of having Harley retain his innocent way of looking at things even as he learns more about both town life and the type of thing that happens in the club. The whole book is marvelously sweet and low angst and would make a perfect beach read.

I was gifted a copy of this book from the authors in return for an honest review

Firstly let me say I got this book of gay romance reviews and this is me live in my honest review
Winter love Has been alone for a while now he is a dominant and enjoyed having a sub but they tended to leave him so now he just watched. It hurt too much getting left behind over and over again but on this night one young man kept catching His eye. And when that man came over with a bottle of water for him the attraction was their instant. But Winton knew he had to be careful and left quite rudely.
Harley was a Texan, born and bred. But he was never really accepted as a gay man so when the chance to move to New York came he jumped at it and subletted with a guy called Oliver and worked in Removals which he enjoyed. It was hard work good pay but he wished he had found somebody. When Oliver tells him he’s going out and he’s coming with him he is surprised at the club it’s a Mardi Gras night and everyone is dressed up wearing their masks and it is good fun Harley likes to dance and enjoys the vibe. But when he catches winter looking at him he feels an attraction and although a couple of the guys say he doesn’t really get involved anymore Harley find in self walking over with a bottle of water for him. They are getting on really well and winter even help him with some make up but then he gets up abruptly and leaves leaving Harley confused thinking he must’ve said something wrong. The next day Oliver gets a phone call from winter asking for Harley‘s phone number Oliver being a good friend he is doesn’t give it to him but lets Harley have his number so he can text him. And they start talking and then they going out for tacos and that is a start of this brilliant relationship between these two.
I thoroughly enjoyed the connection these two felt. I did think winter was a bit overprotective of him not explaining exactly what he needed from a relationship I found it quite confusing why he felt the need to hold back on that aspect. But I did enjoy the time they spent together I enjoyed the way they communicated. The passion and the chemistry is off the charts but I’ve Gotta say something was missing for me I don’t know what it is I can’t put my finger on it but it didn’t stop me from enjoying this book I just felt it could be fantastic. I think I wish Harley had a bit more get up and go about him because it shows that he did at times but I think that’s what was missing I think I wanted more from Harley.

I’m a total sucker for the Payne/Tortuga “East meets West with a side of kink” books, and I knew I’d be reading this one even before I found out it was set in the same world as their The Cowboy and The Dom series. One of the things that most impresses me about this author pairing is how the relationships they create can contain the same components but always evoke a completely different interaction vibe while still retaining the same lovely, cozy feeling I always get from these stories.

The highlights of this book are how Winter helps the younger Harley explore his true self. Harley had already made a pretty good start on his own, which is how he ended up in New York City in the first place, but he could never have imagined the possibilities introduced to him by his new friends beyond that. Conversely, Winter is already mostly set in his ways. He’s a fairly mysterious character, and even getting to know him as his relationship with Harley evolves, I wish I’d been able to learn more about his past and how he got “here” in the first place. His attitudes are also the point of conflict that ends up developing between the two men since Winter is sometimes oblivious to how Harley isn’t like all the romantic encounters he’s had before. Luckily, Harley embraces his uniqueness in a way that sets both men back on the path to their happily ever after.

The promised cameos from Thomas and Sam (the aforementioned Dom and cowboy) are as lovely as I could have wanted, especially since the authors slip some details about how their lives have evolved in a way that won’t leave new readers confused. How Sam takes Harley under his wing and gives him the information he needs rather than the information he wants was a great touch in how it added to the intricacy of the relationship developing between the two heroes of this story. And even though Winter and Harley met at a kink club where Winter is a member, I thoroughly enjoyed the subtle power exchange that threads through their interactions. This is different from the low-key power exchange of other “kink lite” books I’ve read, and another impressive facet of what keeps drawing me to offerings by these co-writers.

This novel isn’t officially tied to a series as far as I can tell, but I hope to see much more set in this amazing world. Especially since the club itself finally has a name!

I do love these stories from Jodi and BA. There's warmth, heat and that little bite of an edge that may not be for everyone but they show that everyone deserves what makes them happy.
Harley is new to town and goes along with his roommate, Oliver, to a club. Unbeknownst to him, a kink club but there he catches the eye of and seeks out Winter, someone who has become a bit of a loner after a string of lovers leaving him.
Their connection is instant and is quick to build to something they both need, though Harley's not too sure on what that is but Winter is more than happy to guide him in his exploration. I enjoyed these two together, Harley's basic joy in the life he currently has in New York and in the discoveries of new things that bring out a different side of himself. Winter is understandably reticent about trusting another young man with his heart but he also can't help how easy it is to fall under Harley's charm.
It's an enjoyable story that's low on angst. The only point I didn't really like was that the club wasn't explained to Harley, what it is or what goes on, either before they went or really at any time after. Even just basic knowledge would have helped him. Oliver is a sweetheart and I'm hoping we get his story next as he's in need of someone that looks after all of his needs.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

The Librarian and his moving man/boy…sweet and steamy
Winter Love is an original member of SIN DEEP, a kink club, membership only. Winter is also a watcher and turning 40yo soon. One evening as he is watching the crowded masses, he notices a young man ready to make a mistake. Winter intervenes and saves almost-25yo Harley Nathaniel McBride from Texas an embarrassing moment. Harley approaches Winter later with a thank you bottle of water and thus begins the romance between the watcher, Master Winter and the “hardworking Harley.” Winter has been hurt many times before after training his young men as subs, they go off and leave him. He expects the same with Harley. Although Harley is new to all this kink, he knows he wants Winter in his life. Can Winter get over his past to see what Harley wants to offer?
I haven’t read many Payne and Tortuga books so I was a little surprised that this book moved slowly in parts. Honestly, I kept waiting for the event that Winter was anticipating. Nice happy ending. I do worry about his friend Ollie. Will his future with Raymond get resolved? Well-written and edited study of two seemingly very different gay men and how they clicked. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews.

Whew! This book was on fire! I love these authors so I knew the story and the relationship would be good, but I haven’t read anything from the Cowboy and the Dom universe before. (They are on my TBR though as soon as I can buy them.). Winter is so starved for touch and affection, having been alone for a while, that he does really trust himself and keeps thinking that it can’t last because the young ones never stay. He had never met Harley before though. The right one would most definitely want to stay. Harley is fresh from Texas and working hard in New York, enjoying living his truth as a gay man and experiencing life in the open. Watching them find their way together was beautiful. Everything is new to Harley and he has to figure out what he needs as far as his own submission. Turns out what he needs is to be needed by Winter. And Winter just needs to give Harley everything.

“This has been the…the most fascinating and wonderful love.”

This is it, Winter. He realized with clarity that this boy was going to be the centerpiece of the rest of his life. He couldn’t bear any other outcome.

An absolute masterpiece!

I loved this book! The story of Winter and Harley is filled with love, past hurts, new experiences and was an absolute joy to read. Winter has been hurt by his past boys, all having left him after a time and it has caused him to keep to himself. All that will change when he meets Harley for the first time. It’s Harley’s first time in the Club when he goes with his roommate and best friend Ollie for a Mardi Gras party and that night will change both their lives. An unexpected encounter will leave Winter wanting more with Harley and Harley is more than willing to give it a try. It’s quite the journey for the two as they navigate this new relationship and Harley learning about this whole new world he never knew. They will hit a small bump in the road that will leave Winter being extra protective and Harley feeling unsure but Ollie will give Harley what he needs to help him feel secure and prove he can be everything that Winter wants and needs.

I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

The cowboy Harley, and the city Librarian, Winter... find a romance and home

Winter, 40, Librarian, only a few gray hairs,

tall, fit, belongs to a kink club, enjoys applying make-up. He hopes their feelings can last.
Harley, 25, from TX to NY, muscled, short,

unique and new to being free to live his truth. He works hard with moving company.

Harley is a guest at the club, and approaches a handsome man's table and strikes up a conversation, and it turns into the best decision he ever made.

They meet talk, have a misunderstanding, and get closer after that.

Their sexy times are sizzling hot, full of passion that grows. Harley is learning new things about himself, sex and Winter.

Harley is already a solid, wonderful soul, who has overcome a lot. Winter has done the same, and they have much in common, and they have a leap of faith, too.

I loved this story! It is a delightful read that warms your heart in every way, as we learn along the journey. The characters are strong, open, and deserving of their new life and feelings.

It's a deeply loving and understanding trek.

I highly recommend it, and I loved it.
ENJOY !

This story was written by the combined efforts of a married duo... I don't know how they do it, my spouse and I would be strangling one another 😉. This is only the 2nd book I've read of Jodi's and only the 2nd, non-shifter, book of B.A.'s.

This book is about Winter and Harley and how they met at a kink club, in NYC, and the progression of their relationship over a period of a few months.

Winter Love, also known as sir and Master Winter. He's been a member of the kink club Sin Deep for several years.

Harley McBride, Texan, newly arrived to NYC. He's been invited to Sin Deep by his roommate Ollie.

This a one on my favorite conversations between Winter and Harley:
Winter - “Don’t you worry, Harley. You don’t have to do anything you don’t feel comfortable doing. You shouldn’t, ever. Hm?”
Harley's response - “Oh, I don’t know. I’ve learned a lot by doing things that weren’t comfortable. Moving here. Learning to water ski. Hell, I was terrified to touch another man.”

You see personal growth, in both of these characters, as the story unfolds. I especially love how Harley doesn't mind stepping out of his comfort zone.

I feel like another book is in order to check in on these two to see how their relationship is progressing.

Age gap (15 years), little to no angst, some heat, light kink, sweetness abounds.

A sweet tale between someone a bit older who has been left behind too many times and a young, fresh and naive young man who is thriving in his newfound life and freedom in a new city.

Winter Love has been hurt way too many times that he is now wary of taking in another young man who will eventually leave him, they always do.

Harley is relatively new to NYC. He left his hometown in order to live his truth. He works hard and from time to time, he goes out with his roommate. One night they went to a gentlemen kink club where he attracted the attention of Winter Love.

Although these two couldn't be more different, somehow they complement each other. But Winter's wariness holds him back a little. He will be 40 soon and Harley is going to be 25. The age gap doesn't really matter to Harley, what is important to him ultimately are the feelings and how serious they are to each other.

Sweet, low in angst and a feel-good story.

Sweet, low-angst journey with two people who deserved a beautiful ever after and found it in each other

This is what I love about these authors’ books. They are so lovely to read. I think the best way to describe it is that feeling you get when it’s a little cold outside, you have nothing you need to do other than enjoy some time alone, you get a lovely cup of something warm and you snuggle down into a lovely soft rug. Reading this book was like settling into a fantastic hug. Yes both characters had their moments (poor Winter, I felt so much for him) but mostly we just got to see Harley and Winter find each other and then work to make their lives together wonderful. There were learning curves (there always are in new relationships) but those led to great character and relationship development. Overall just a lovely book!

I love this series! Winter Love is a quiet librarian. He has built a quiet life for himself after having his heart broken one too many times. Now he takes comfort in observing the kink scene from the sidelines. Harley is a newcomer to New York after being forced from his Texas home. He is pulled into Winter's favorite club by his roommate to blow off some steam. The men are instantly drawn to each other and their attraction is magnetic. I really enjoyed that even though Winter is a veteran of the kink scene he is not into what is stereotypically kink. The closest they come is a sexy Shibari lesson. And the sense of community that is woven through these stories is amazing. The love is not just limited to the main couples, there is a genuine family that has been built. Even the supporting characters are compelling. I am hoping that sweet Ollie gets his HEA next!

“Sin Deep was his drug of choice, his pleasure and his weakness, and Mardi Gras was always a good party, even for wallflowers.”

Winter loved Sin Deep. He was lonely, all the young men he’d known left him alone. Making him wonder if he’d ever find the perfect boy. Then Harley offers him a water. Harley, sweet, loves to be decorated, and very ready for adventure.

I like when these authors team up however I felt this book wasn’t their best. I thought Winter was to wishy washy and Harley to naive. They worked well together and their relationship was really hot, I just never really got into their head space.

Will I continue to read anything these authors write. Yes definitely.

2.5 Stars ⭐️

Unfortunately this book didn't do it for me, I always hate to write these types of reviews however ....I've got to give my honest opinion so here goes.......if you go by the cover alone, this book is nothing like you'd expect.....this book is sickly sweet and I love me some sugar but this was imo to much. Secondly the dialogue between these two was just....corny, and the winking...Omg so much winking between the two 😩 the intimate scenes were meh 🤷🏻‍♀️ idk....tbh I expected so much more from this book, I enjoy writings from both of these authors even though I'm definitely thinking this wasn't their best story.

This story is set in the same world as The Cowboy and The Dom universe. However, I didn't feel like you needed to have read those to enjoy this story. I did enjoy that this story wasn't as strong in the BDSM storyline as others. Winter is a bit of a recluse who sits on the side lines and watches others. Harley is the new to New York cowboy that is all manners and willing to try new things. I love the dynamic between the two of them. There is reference to the histories that make up who they are now but felt like they weren't overly explained. That said, I adored these two. I just want to wrap Harley up in hugs. You know it's a good story when you want to sympathize with the characters. Enjoyed this read!

This story is, at its heart, about new discoveries, caring, and kink. Both Harley and Winter are vulnerable in their own ways– Harley is just discovering the world that Winter has tons of experience with, but that experience has been, in some ways, bittersweet. Watching him realize that Harley is different, and wants to stay beyond the initial explorations stage, makes for a sweetly emotional reading experience. I loved the premise of this book, and there were moments that really shone for me, as well as some that felt a bit repetitive, especially in terms of emotional experience, but overall, I found this to be an enjoyable read.

A sweet, low angst age gap love story!

This is a very sweet love story for Winter and Harley. Harley is a naïve young man, trying to put his family far behind him by moving from Texas to NYC. He’s such a sweet and open man, ready to explore and find out who is out there. He meets Winter at the club and enchants him. Winter has hidden himself in his routine to keep from being hurt by having another man leave him. When Harley walks right up to him at the club, he can’t help but want and hope.
There is very little angst and all of it is internal. I found myself cheering for Harley and Winter to get past their internal issues and truly embrace their relationship. I enjoyed their fall and growth, individually and as a couple.

Sin Deep is about Winter, also called Master Winter and Harley, who meet in a kinky club. Harley is totally new in this field of love but he has a crush on Winter. For me it was the first book in the Cowboy and Dom series, but definitely not the last one.

I love the theme of someone doing his first steps in the BDSM kink finding himself like Harley is doing here. It’s also great to see how Winter explores that and finds himself in this relation ship.

Both authors have the gift to write very emotionally, you can follow all the developments the characters are going through.

I had the luck to het an ARC to read.

The story of Winter and Harley is very sweet. Looking at the cover I was expecting something more steamy and well sinful, but this one is actually more of a hurt comfort story from both sides. Winter is older and has been emotionally wounded from being left by other partners after putting his heart into the relationships. Harley is new to all of it, so they actually communicate well and are very sappy sweet together. I read an arc and this one is definitely an example of do not judge a book by its cover because I think it was much more of a caring romance then a steamy one. You will find yourselves really wanted just the best for these guys.

Oh my word I absolutely love this book. Winter may not know it but he's my new best friend. We have a date we're going to go shopping and have brunch and I'm going to love him. This book just melded with my heart. I don't know why it just really touched me. The storyline was really great the characters absolutely made this book for me. I think that's what it boils down to in the end is if I can feel a connection with the character I feel like I am in their story which just makes a book so wonderful

Winter is an almost 40 year old Dom, who enjoys making up his subs and dressing them pretty.. He has had a couple of disappointing relationships and thinks he will be alone for the rest of his life. In comes Harley, new to the kink scene, younger and very attracted to the older man. The story is about learning to trust, falling in love and discovering new things. It has a sweet kink that I haven't read before and it has two very likeable MC’s. I rooted for them to figure things out. I recommend this book for a sweet, kinky and low-angst read.

I loved the Cowboy and the Dom series and am always happy to return to that world in any way. This story of Winter and Harley is a gentle, satisfying love story about two men opening up to each other and taking a chance. Harley has left home to spread his wings and find himself and all the big world has to offer. Winter (what a beautifully apt name for this character at the beginning of this story) has enjoyed many relationships, but has always been left behind. He is enchanted by Harley's warmth and openness and melts into and is reinvigorated by his warmth.

Harley is like a kid in a candy store. Everything is sparkly and he wants it all. Even though he isn't so sure what is happening sometimes. He trusts in the connection he finds with Winter. The problem is Winter takes his time to realise that Harley isn't going anywhere and he can love his boy to his heart's content. I just loved this story!!! It is not often that a clerical person and a manual labourer find a common connection. these authors pulled it off when Winter a library archivist and Harley a skilled furniture and equipment mover come together at a club.
I must admit that I struggled through quite a bit before I found my happy place in the story. Perhaps it was not my time to see deeper into the characters and their doubts in themselves.

This is the story of Winter and Harley. It is part of the Cowboy and the Dom series. I loved this book and found it thoroughly entertaining. Definitely recommended.

A cowboy with a heart of gold meets an older Dom who is lonely and the sparks fly. Harley is new to New York and the kink lifestyle. Winter is an old hand at kink, but lonely. When they meet their lives forever change in an instant. Lust becomes love, and love becomes forever in this cowboy with a kink story. An easy read with no drama and filled with good times.
