Have you ever inadvertently flashed fifteen thousand people on a live stream? No? Just me? Damn.
Hi, I’m Sage. MavenOfMischief, former escort, current junior at Steiner University. And four months ago, my carefully constructed online gaming persona went viral.
Since that lovely incident, my reputation has taken a nosedive, I’ve moved in with a maniac, and I had to give up my streaming channel because of a stalker.
So, what’s a gamer girl to do?
Determined to repair my reputation, I join an anonymous team to participate in a gaming competition. I don’t know who they are, they don’t know who I am, and that’s exactly the way I want it.
Only one question remains: Is it possible to fall for someone you’ve never met?
***** Vice is book one of the Maven of Mischief series and is a New Adult romance featuring some darker themes.
Ohhhhh - I was not expecting this!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's definitely different than what I am compared to, but I honestly loved it!
((This series takes place after the Maven of Mayhem Series. I did not know this at the time. I have not yet read that series and the author did a great job at explaining anything that may have been pertinent from that series. I do not feel like I missed anything by not reading that series, although I am definitely going to have to go read that one now!!))
Our FMC is Sage; With a troubled and broken past she is trying her luck at moving on with a regular life. She is a popular online gamer who does live streams under gamer tag - MavenofMischief! After an unfortunate, unexpected nipslip - she becomes popular for an entirely new reason. Trying to regain her anonymity and regain control of her gamer life is only the start. Starting a new beginning away from her sister at a college, she is trying to experience a new bound normal freedom.
With this, she quickly befriends her new roommate who is trying to get her to experience new things and meet new people. Their friendship blossoms into besties quickly and soon they include Sally. The three of them form a perfect friendship and at that point, Sage figures nothing could go wrong, right?
When one of her old clients makes contact - nothing is safe anymore. New romance seems way out of reach and her gamer life has become a joke. With the disguise of a new gamer tag, she decides to join a team with identities hidden and voices covered, it's the perfect solution for a new start.
These new relationships quickly turn into something more for Sage and when she is finally starting to get back to a normal life, once again her past catches up to her. Will Sage have what it takes to really live a normal life? Will her new romances leave her disappointed?
The ending comes way too soon, and we are left with a crazy cliffhanger that I for one, was not expecting at all! I can't wait for book 2! I have not read any books this in depth with the VR world and I am here for it. The book was perfectly written, and I loved it. Nate, I totally feel can grovel a little bit more. Jack is amazing and I can't wait to see more sparks. I can't decide if we already know Moreid or not, but I am looking forward to finding out. Pshhh that ending was crazy and I can't wait to see what happens next.
*Overall 5/5 *Heat? 4/5 *VR Fast Burn *"IRL" Slow Burn* *First person POV (Mostly Sage, but the guys make a chapter here and there) *Original storyline *Ends on cliffhanger
Okay then. The last time I read a reverse harem/poly book was in July. I was looking for a heist book which lead me to The Cleanup and then I saw this one. First chapter in, initial thoughts...ah. I've picked a sequel haven't I...So the Maven of Mayhem is mentioned, which I didn't click because I read the first book in that trilogy ages back and it wasn't very memorable. Saying that. Ivy and her husbands are hover family so The secrets we keep does need to be read first. Especially since the past comes back to haunt Sage.
It's an interesting set up with the gaming and the VR. I was not aware there were sex games and I am not googling to check. Sage is haunted by her past, trying to move on and in therapy. After a wardrobe mishap, and a stalker, Sage finds a new haven with a team where both sides are unknown.
It does end on a cliffhanger but it was going that way anyway. I didn't trust Sally from the start. I'm thinking she's the daughter mentioned right at the beginning. Guy wise the story is Jack heavy with Moreid used for virtual sex. Nate is pigeonholed as a bad guy. I'm sure about Gatekeeper. The connections are loosely there. I'm not sure if I'd read the next one or not. I might have to go back to the Maven of Mayhem first.
FMC - Sage Guys - ArachNerd (Confirmed Jack), Moreid (Professor Raga?), Petmydragon(Nate?) Support - Ivy (sister) and her husbands Bad guy - White knight, Sally (?)

Mila!!! How are you gonna do me like thatttt??? 😩😩😩 How am I supposed to wait for the next one?? Patience in NOT listed on my indeed resume! ——— I honestly have no idea where to start with this one. I literally just finished the book and I’m just… gobsmacked.
This new series follows the sister of the main character in Maven of Mayhem. I didn’t get a chance to read Maven of Mayhem prior to Vice (it’s been on my ever growing TBR🫣), but you better believe I’m about to start it immediately! There are some references to it throughout the book that made me kick myself for not getting to it before being blessed with this ARC, but only because I love the comfy feel of seeing characters again in spin-offs, NOT because it left me feeling like I was missing something. So Mila, bless you for that lol. ——— “Snacks are life.” 😏
Sage had a rough start to life, but with the help of her therapist, her sister, her sister’s husbands, and her new best friend/roommate, Lori, she’s on the road to being a normal college girl with normal college experiences.
New best friends Boy crushes & romance unfolding College classes.. Sage loves the monotony she’s found in college. But when her past comes back to taunt her and taint the new slice of happiness she’s found, she’s worried she’ll never be able to escape the life she was forced into and all her hard work in moving past the trauma will be for nothing.
NO SPOLIERS so that’s all the plot you get, but lord!! This story was FANTASTIC. SO original SO thoughtful The world building is PHENOMENAL!! Seriously.. there’s so much detail, but never to the point that you find yourself skimming. Every piece of information feels important leaving you pleasantly immersed in this incredible world!!
I want to talk about how impactful inner monologue is. In this book, it feels like a very natural string of thought, it isn’t leading or utilized to tell readers what they *should* be thinking/feeling, and it doesn’t ramble on into insignificant territory to help fluff a word count. To sum it up, it’s perfect!!
*I need to put the spotlight on Lori for a sec.: “Uteruses before duderuses.” 😂 Lori is the kind of best friend EVERYONE needs. Just a really down chick who backs her bestie 10000% no matter what. Everyone deserves a Lori 🥹.* ——— Um Mila… hi. Video game nerd? Halestorm? Rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock shirt. UNAGI!?!? Can we please be best friends?!?! 😅😩
This is the first book in a continuing series. It appears there is a series before this one that introduces the MFC but focuses on her sister. You don’t need to have read the previous series, but I imagine it adds an extra layer of enjoyment if the backstory is familiar. This book does end on a cliffhanger.
Sage is better known to the world as MavenOfMischief, a gamer who streams in disguise to try and avoid problems in real life. Her history is not great because she had a traumatic childhood, followed by a period of time in enforced prostitution. When her sister rescued her she lived with her and her husbands (she has three) for three years getting her GED, doing a year of online college classes and getting a boatload of therapy. Gaming was a part of her reaching out to the world in a safe environment. Now she earns her living through her gaming stream and she’s starting at college as a junior, but is still living down an accidental exposure incident online.
The book mainly revolves around her online life, but also with her trying to make her first friends since gaining her freedom. It’s a complicated path to weave, as she tries to balance how much to reveal to new friends about her past and how much to keep to herself so her past doesn’t taint her future.
Sage’s character feels so real. She’s lived with trauma and is working her way through it slowly. There is romance and sex but it’s exploratory and cautious as she is aware of her own emotional limitations. Her character is so well written and sympathetic. She’s a strong woman who has been damaged but has picked herself up again and started to climb out the pit. She recognises her weak spots and asks for help but isn’t scared to act either.
The other characters in the book are more unknown because some of them are from real life and some from online. The book is told from multiple POV and they slowly reveal more of themselves as time goes on. I’m pretty sure this is going to be a reverse harem series, as the previous linked series was one, however it’s a very slow burn one and the author is being cagey!
I really enjoyed this book and it’s emotion based plot that tipped into real life danger. I loved getting to know these fascinatingly diverse characters and can’t wait to read what happens next (and then go back and read the first series!)
It’s no secret that Mila Sin’s Maven of Mayhem series was one of my favorite reads last year. I absolutely adored the characters and have been (not so) patiently waiting for the release of this series once I heard that she was going to be doing a spin-off. This is everything I wanted.
Sage plays a pivotal role in the Maven of Mayham series and I love that we finally get to know her more. The series takes place a few years after those events, and although you don’t have to read that series, I would highly recommend it. Those characters do make an appearance in this book and I still love them as much now as I did then. I love seeing the changes that Sage has gone through. Mental health is a recurring theme in this book and Mila did great job showcasing it on the character’s journey. There are ups and downs throughout but it does not make anyone weaker, we see their strengths and struggles and love them more for it.
I wasn’t sure how I would feel about gaming playing such a large role but I love the way that Mila incorporated it. It’s like you’re actually playing, if that makes sense. It’s hard to explain but trust me, it works.
While I loved seeing Sage interact both on and off the screen, I really enjoyed seeing the interactions of her potential men on screen… But also off the screen. I don’t know who exactly is who and who to trust but I did enjoy that aspect. There’s also a mysterious man, but I have my suspicions.
Then, of course, the ending. The cliffhanger potentially had nothing to do with the men (I hope not) and we are thrown back into Sage’s past. I was suspicious as the book started to come to an end and I cannot wait to see how the events transpire and what secrets are revealed.
Congratulations Mila on the start of another amazing series.
Such a unique take on virtual reality. I adore Sage and all of her guys. I love everything by Mila Sin and this was no different, this story was intriguing and I was pulled straight in from the first word until the cliffhanger.
Sage is such a bada*s who doesn’t let one experience (no matter how embarrassing) knock her down. She finds a new way to enjoy life online anonymously. I loved that we got to meet the characters first and then got to find out just how hot they were.
Holy guacamole Ms. Sin does it again! I dont think love is a high enough accolade for this book, right along side with a heaping spoonful of nnnooooooooo! The cliffy y'all, stawp it, I need more! I absolutely adored Rogue's harem and book and was beyond curious what would happen with Sage and was not disappointed! (You do not need to read Maven of Mayhem before this one, but it would surely get your mind right and in the story more, plus its just a great series) After Sage gets her mind right and decides its time to start getting back in the world she enrolls in college and moves in with a hilarious roommate. We are slowly introduced to different men in her "real" day to day life and find that there is some cross over between the guys she meets and is falling for in person and the new gaming team she joined after an unfortunate nip slip on a live gaming feed. Every character adds something to the story, even Sage's grumpy neighbor, and they are so well thought out. Even the characters screen names are incredibly thought out and inventive. I adore her relationship with Jack and my heart breaks for Nate at this point. The interaction with Moreid in the "adult game", yes please, sign me up but make sure the A/C is on full blast because it is haawwtttt! I could go on, but alas I will end with you NEED this book, you will not be disappointed, well maybe disappointed in the major cliffy at the end, but I categorize that more as frustration for not being able to finish, everyone gets frustrated when they can't finish, right?! Happy reading! I was given an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Holy moly, this book was fantastic! It’s a spin-off of the Maven of Mayhem series, featuring Rogue’s sister Sage. This take place three years after the ending of that series, and Sage is a junior in college. She has just transferred to in-person classes at a university after taking classes online previously. She has been through years of therapy to get to this point, and has found a new outlet and passion - online gaming.
After a gaming mishap that made the news, Sage joins an anonymous gaming team in hopes of continuing her passion for playing while escaping the notoriety, and a stalker from her past.
While Sage, her sister (and sister’s husbands), and her lovelable maniac roommate all try to keep Sage safe and find her stalker, Sage finds herself wrapped up in virtual reality and the anonymous teammates she’s started falling for. Along with some real-life encounters that lead to confusion, frustration, and tension of the sexual variety, Sage is learning how to live her life like a “normal” person to the best for ability.
I adore Sage. She is so strong, still struggling, but actively working through her trauma and figuring her life out. The twists and turns are fantastic. I absolutely love that Sage develops feelings for these teammates just based on their interactions online, without knowing their real names, genders, or looks. Some of the revelations are a teensy bit predictable, but only if you’re paying attention. Others come out of nowhere and take you completely by surprise! I can’t wait to see where the rest of Sage’s story goes!
Ok so, I’m totally admitting that my vice right now is any book written by Mila sin!! Seriously, I can’t find a book of hers I don’t instantly fall into and get lost in….I love it!!
Vice is Sage’s story (whom we know from the MoM series) and starts off from her journey to college and back to a kind of normal life.
Sage is a mini bada** trying to get her shiz together after everything that happened under her “care” of king and just wants to experience the same things in life those her age would! She is fairly uncomplicated (if you don’t count SOME secrets - you’re safer that way ;) and very easy to get on with in terms of a main character! She teams up with a fiercely loyal bestie (I won’t say more because I’m slightly biased) and some wicked online friends who add such a great atmosphere to the whole story whilst never detracting from sage completely!
The book itself is full of humour (tittergate) , doused with plenty of mystery and “where is she going with this now”, alongside general shenanigans of kids their age, PLUS some seriously steamy virtual scenes that you never knew could be so haaaawwwwt!!! We get to see the appearance of some old faces that never fail warm your soul and OF COURSE, it ends on a cliffy because we all need more cravings right?!?lol
All in all this is a brilliant book, with phenomenal writing and you are seriously missing out if you don’t read it because it’s just awesome!!
Vice is book #1 in the Maven of Mischief duet. Its a dark reverse harem.
I can't wait for the next book!!!
Sage Montgomery is our FMC and she is also the sister of Ivy from the Maven of Mayhem series. She is working thru some things and letting go of her past. She is a gamer and has a huge following. She is also a freaking badass!!
When boob-gate (IYKYK) happens, her following grows even more, but not for the best reason. She takes a little break and decides to focus on enjoying being in college. She quickly becomes besties with her roommate Lori and a few other girls then when she gets the chance to join a gamer team with 3 people and be completely anonymous, she takes it.
New friendships start, feelings start to grow for some gamers and someone from Sages past comes back to take what they think is theirs.
I couldn't put this one down!! I can't wait for the next book! I love Sage and I love the guys, the story keeps you pulled in and guessing what's gonna happen next, the spice is 🔥🔥🔥, I just loved it all!!!
This book is phenomenal! No better word to describe it! I was hooked from the very beginning and it captivated me until the very end! (And I was so not ready for it to end!)
After reading the Maven of Mayhem series (which is not necessary to read beforehand), I was so happy to learn we’d get Sage’s story too! I was always curious about her before, wanting to know more about her past and what the future might hold for her, so I was really excited for this series! I absolutely love Sage! I also really loved the whole online gaming storyline and the anonymity of the characters she teams up with. Trying to guess who each gamer is/was was kinda fun for me! (I think I’ve figured them all out, but we’ll see! 😉) And an online stalker from her past, who tracked her down IRL too, just adds that extra level of suspense to this already mysterious storyline!
This was such an addicting read! Every free minute I had was spent devouring this book! Before I knew it I had blown through it, making guesses and theories along the way before crash landing at the end with that HUGE cliffhanger that I was NOT at all ready/prepared for! I can’t wait for the next book to release, ‘cause I’m dying to find out what’s going to happen next! Ad finem!
I was so happy about this. I was really hoping we would get Sages story. I gave it 4 stars only because I wish it came quicker with the guys (I'm a med/fast burn type of reader) but with Sages past it so so understandable and didnt mind at all . And knowing this has her sister and her guys in cameo was even better cause that series is so so much 🔥 🔥 🔥. I hope we get to see more of Ivy and her guys in the second book as well. And idk why but I had a feeling that her friend Sally wasn't good when it was revealed that the numbers were switched and she said Nate was hitting on her. Idk why I just felt it and knew what would happen when she gave her the redbull. And the charger being mentioned. I just knew. Ivy will rain down hell when she finds out. What a good book so far. Can't wait for the next one. I love this author. You guys will love it. Read the 1st series Maven of Mayhem 1st so you know who Sage is and who Ivy and her men are.
I've had the opportunity to receive an early copy of Vice and I devoured this book in one sitting. Mila Sin's Maven of Mayhem series is one of my all time favorites. Her main character Rogue gave me some much needed self-confidence and I will be forever greatful for that. Now we meet Sage, Rogue's sister who has been through hell and back, and she is such a badass. I fell in love with her instantly and our shared passion of gaming made this fall much easier. She is incredibly strong and fierce. I loved that she never gave up even when life got too hard. She faced challenges and came out stronger. And our other gamer friends...Let's say I need them in my Discord server ASAP. Doesn't matter what we play, I just want that Hoard experience. I cannot wait to read what happens next. The wait is going to be painful, although I know I will love whatever comes next. Thanks again for the early copy.
A gamer chick who has overcome so so much, ride or die bestie, off the charts sexual tension, hella hot and somewhat mysterious guys, shady characters and a stalker. What more could a girl want?!
Sex mad elderly neighbour you say? It's cool Mila has your back! 😁
So those who have read the maven of mayhem series you'll have been waiting on the edge of your seat for this series just as much as I have and my god is it everything we want. Sage is the perfect blend of vulnerability and bad assery as she overcomes her past and looks to the future. Add in a nip slip, finding the best bestie that ever there was and more than one drool worthy guy and you know this is going to be epic. Good job there's not a skeevy stalker hanging about right 👀
I don't want to spoil it because this is best enjoyed right out of the tin, but I will say that therapist is deff the shiz and knows their stuff 😉
Wow. This was amazing. As a person who plays video games, it was so cool to read about a video gamer. I really liked the female main character, Sage. She was funny and it was great to read her working through her trauma. I enjoyed reading about Sage playing games, the VR smut, and everything else. Who knew virtual reality smut would be so hot? I’m definitely all for MOREID. I need more of him in the next book for sure. This book had a slow build but it still kept my interest. It was kinda easy to guess plot points but it didn’t affect my enjoyment at all. I was excited when I guessed right! Also, Lori is the ultimate BFF! Love her!
I didn’t know it was a spin-off from a series but I wasn’t lost luckily! I am definitely going to check out the original series bc reverse harem helloooooooo.
And that ending was mean. I can’t wait for the next one!
We met Sage briefly as Ivy’s sister in Mila’s “Maven of Mayhem” books. This book follows Sage as she tries to take her life back after being freed from being an escort whilst a prisoner in Kings clutches. She is trying to live the life of typical college student. It is hard escaping from her past. I feel for Sage, it’s difficult enough trying to be independent without all the baggage and a stalker from her previous life. Love that Sage gains confidence from online gaming and uses it to make money and rebuild her confidence. This book is well written, can feel myself with Sage navigating thru college life and parties. The book ends 0n a cliffhanger, really hope all ends up well for in the next book, really can’t wait, this is such a great book. Hopefully Sage manages to acquire a harem like her sister. A slow burn so far but a fantastic story.
Only one question remains after finishing Vice: How soon can I get my hands on the second book?!? Not necessarily because of the cliffhanger, even though it finishes in one, but mostly because I love these characters so much! I devoured this book in one sitting, forgetting everything about the world around me and just flowing away with the story. Sage is a wonderful fmc, but the men that enter her life are truly amazing. I loved getting to know their personalities first, and how they looked later. It created a deeper connection with the characters for me. A lot is going on in Sage's life, and I loved the suspense, the gaming world, the new friendships and especially the ride-or-die BFF-relationship with "the britch". I absolutely can't wait for the second book.
So first off I have to say before even picking up this book I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it I’m not a big gaming person. But by the time I put it down I am absolutely head over heels in love with this book and can’t wait to get my hands on the second one! Poor Sage is put through the ringer in this book! She has to face her demons from the past as she try’s to move on and find new love! I’m in utter awe that the fact she finally finds her happiness will multiple men in her life and is thrown right back into the deepest darkest part of her past it’s so sad!! But unfortunately we have to wait for book two to see how it’s all going to unfold!!! What an amazing job Mila did writing this book the ups and downs will keep you pulled in and not wanting to put it down at all!!
This was a hidden gem that hit the ball right out of the park for me. I totally was left mind blown. This had an amazing storyline which was entertaining right from the beginning. Sage was brilliant, she was strong, intelligent and a gamer....I totally loved her and loved that gamer aspect of her - I, myself, am a gamer so I loved that this book had this subject. And, I liked the other characters too, some were supportive and others brought laughable moments. I also liked that a few characters had their own issues, this made the storyline even more real and relatable. Like I said, this book was great; it had romance, suspense, plot twists, spicy bits and gaming fun. I definitely recommend you start this series!
Vice is a dark reverse harem with a unique storyline and some interesting characters.
Sage is a kicka** FMC. She’s a gamer with a big following. When a nip slip happens and the creepers start to roll in, she decides to step back from gaming. When an opportunity presents itself for her to game and be anonymous, Sage takes it with the hope of starting anew. With friendships blossoming, VR & real, Sage feels like her life is starting to turn around. Until someone from her past comes back to haunt her….
Vice has so much mystery plus twist and turns that you’ll not want to stop reading. The cliffhanger is a doozy and leaves you hanging for more.
What an ending to leave us on that was cruel Mrs Sin. I need book two so bad.
I wasn't too excited when this book was announced as I was a die hard Maven fan and I wanted all Rogue all the time. But Mila's writing drew me right into this one and I loved every single aspect of the story.
From all the nerdiness, to the trauma, to the steam, to the intrigue, this book had everything I could want in a contemporary book.
I would have liked a bit more relationship stuff to happen before that cliffy, at the moment I feel she's only really with one of her guys so interested to see how it all gets pulled together for book two.
Oh My God!! I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into with reading Sage's story, but I must say this is my favorite one yet! This author is one of my all-time favorites now and forever. She has such a way of communicating emotions and getting you sucked into a story that it almost seems like you're there living it! Sage's story is one of tragedy and heartbreak, but I loved seeing her experience new things and actually get out into the world. You can tell that real research and detail went into writing this book and it definitely did not disappoint! The ending was one I never would've seen a mile away and I'm anxiously waiting for book 2!
This is a selfish review. I need you to read this book. I need you to love this book. I need you to also 5 star review this book. Because I NEED MORE.
Ok. Now that that’s over. Holy cow, I loved this book. This was a strong five stars for me. It was such a great balance of an h with a traumatic past but still super strong in her own way. I loved the guessing game of which anonymous online guy lined up with IRL guy. I loved the strong girl friendship with her roommate. I loved that the mental health game wasn’t invisible, trauma requires recovery and I love that it wasn’t glossed over here.
I'm not going to pretend to understand the world of gaming, but this book was something that I unexpected and loved it.
We get to meet Sage and see how strong she grows each day. She is in the normal world going through college, all the while trying to heal from trauma. Her alternate identity is where she is the most confident, and I gotta say this chick is badass.
The whole virtual world was incredibly built. I cannot wait to read more, especially now that we know some of the identities of who she's been gaming with!!!
Personally this book started a little slow for me but that very quickly turned into me staying up all night just so I could know what happened next. Next thing I knew I’ve finished this book at record speed!
I absolutely loved this book. I love all the characters and how they were portrayed. Of course Sage stands out to me for being a strong female gamer and just an all around badass!
This book will leave you with a twist you didn’t see coming and will have you screaming for more! Alas, we must wait for book two which, I for one, can’t wait to read.
This book seriously surprised the F out of me it was such a unique storyline and one I haven’t really read but thoroughly enjoyed. Sage and her guys are everything. I loved them. This author has an amazing way of writing her characters and giving her stories so much depth. Sage’s personality and who she is gives me so much life she is a take the bull by the horns kind of woman and doesn’t let anything hold her back. I was captivated from beginning to end with this one all the way to the cliffhanger. Lord give me all the patience to wait for the next book…. I cant wait!!
I really enjoyed this book. I love all of Mila’s books. She’s one of my top favorite authors. This story follows Sage. She is Ivy’s sister. Ivy is from the Maven of Mayhem series. Go check that series out as well. Sage is starting college. She moves in with Lori. They become best friends. Sage is balancing being a gamer/streamer and a college student. She meets Sally and some guy friends. While streaming she gets a weird message. She think she knows who it’s from. So her sister and her brothers in laws help try to catch him. Sage joins a group of gamers playing a new game. Read the book to follow Sage on her journey. It ends on a cliffhanger.
There isn’t anything about this book that I don’t love. Sage is finally learning things about herself she could never explore before, all the while dipping her toes into the dating world. This setting is obviously well researched, and I am living for the tension of not knowing who her teammates could be IRL. I have my hopes and theories, but I don’t trust that Mila doesn’t have a twist ready in Vows. 10/10 for the impeccable writing, the sprinkling of humor, the original premise, and the lovable characters.
