Enchanting read!
The author weaved this intricate and intriguing plot twist in this book #2 of the 'Falling Castles' series. Ms. Lynn Miller takes a more laser look at the many strain relationships their (Syd, Alex & Andrew) father had with everyone around him -- and why he was the way that he was. Maybe his behavioral ramifications towards a few might have even played a part in his murder or not. Trickling into this plotline is a whodunit role that should excite readers because it well give them this task of reading along to try deciphering who the real killer is.
The heady romance between Alex & Tyler do continue and even explores how close they continue to become which sometimes has this feel of cheesiness but at least readers do get a taste of that nice chemistry from book #1. There are times while trying to stay focus with all the negatives that was surrounding her trial that all Alex wanted to do was grab a hold of Tyler and everyone close to her and never let go but there was this determination to prove her innocence. Then brewing under all the chaos and investigations is a growing romantic relationship between two unlikely characters. Additionally, Ms. Lynn Miller tells of the lives of being privilege, some of the unspoken sibling rivalries and the many small acts of vengeance that sometimes leads to a wide range of repercussions. The storytelling should be pleasing to many of Lynn Miller's fan base because it's good. For me, i had this high anticipation waiting to see how the plotline would pan out because the previous book #1 was so well told and i must say i was not disappointed.
So overall, 'BLIND SUSPICION' which is the perfect title is part hopeful and is filled with loyalty, Love, good family dynamics, good budding relationships, the whodunits and the what nots from policing procedures in New York City --- plus it looks like this delicious series will continue.

Alex Castle is finished pleasing her father by not living out and proud. Realizing she is in love with Tyler Falling and wanting to begin a life with her, Alex is ready to walk away from the family empire if necessary. Nothing could get in her way except the murder of her father and her subsequent arrest as a suspect.

Blind Suspicion is a very satisfying follow up to the cliffhanger from Despite Chaos. Without any preamble Miller jumps right into the story where book one ended. The murder and the mystery which follows is an enticing story. There are a lot of moving parts to the story which holds your attention and fills your imagination.

4.25 stars. With the first book ending on a cliffhanger I was very much looking forward to reading this sequel and it was so satisfying. Lynn Miller knows how to keep things interesting and I’m learning that the different volumes in her series never feel repetitive.

Let me start by saying that these books have to be read in order. It’s all about the family dynamics of the Castle family. In book one you learn about William Castle, who’s spearheading the Castle luxury resort chain, and his children, Alex and her brother Andrew, who are fighting to gain his favor and be second in line. And there is so much more going on in this family, it is complex, but a lot of fun, I like a bit of soap opera drama and these books have it in spades.

Part 1 ended with a murder and now they have to figure out whodunnit and with all these family secrets it’s not an easy task. This book is not all about the mystery though, the first half of the book is where Alex’s life is turned upside down and we get to see a different side of her now that she loses control. Luckily for her she has Tyler, so this part of the book is also heavy on the romance, it’s a bit sappy even, but I like them as a couple and it makes up for the late start of the romance in book 1. I was also glad to see Ethan, Tyler’s ex, return to the storyline, he’s the best and I am rooting for his HEA too.

The second part of the book is where the actual sleuthing starts and the stakes are high.

In summary, drama, romance and mystery what’s not to like? I hope to see more books in this series.

Who's the murderer?

Blind Suspicion is the second book of the Falling Castles Series. These books cannot be read as a standalone so if you want to start, read from the beginning.

I hope this series never ends. I'm not a big mystery fan so if there's a really long drawn and complicated mystery tied to the story, I'm out. But this one was simple enough to follow and interesting enough for me to actually enjoy so I had such a great time with it. I loved the story building in the first book and the introduction of the characters. The background of these characters are complicated and unfortunate but it set a strong foundation for a good story and the murder mystery in this book.

I'm in love with the two main characters too. I'm a sucker for sappy relationships and this is what Alex and Tayler have. It was love at first sight in the first book though it was a fairly long journey for them to become a couple. But this book more than makes up for it. I love their intense soulmate relationship and I really love seeing them together after everything.

Honestly? Stacy Lynn Miller is probably one of the better authors I’ve come across in the last few years. If you want something fresh, gripping, entertaining and keeps you guessing to the end, this author is for you. Blind Suspicion is the sequel to Despite chaos, another fantastic read, I recommend you read it first.

Blind Suspicion is the 2nd instalment in the Falling Castle Series (the 1st one being “Despite Chaos” Despite ChaosDespite Chaos in which we witness Alex Castle falling head over heels in love with Tyler Falling and deciding she’s done pleasing her controlling & homophobic father even if it means, if necessary, walking away from the family empire the way her big sister did a long time ago…). Book#2 is a great follow-up to what happened in “Despite Chaos”. It begins with a couple things about (and happening to) William Castle prior to the events related in the cliffhanger at the end of Book#1… Alex doesn’t care about her father’s money, she is ready to be free of him. But, of course, all Alex’s plans are sent in jeopardy when she learns that he has been killed and following the leak of some information that makes her look guilty, the police arrest her. Now out on bail, she scrambles to clear her name. Thank God she's not alone to face this more than unpleasant ordeal…

This novel is a very enticing and captivating story full of Love, drama, loyalty, family dynamics (both good and bad ones), romance, mystery and so many other things …

I am totally hooked on this series (that I highly recommend BTW) & I can’t wait for Book#3 to be released … Seriously, it can’t be soon enough.

After a cliff hanger ending in the first book this mystery family drama continues. The wealthy powerful father who built up the Castle hotel empire calls two of his children to meet with him. The next morning he is found dead in his office. Suspicion falls quickly to Alex and there's pressure from her father’s powerful friends for an arrest and indictment to happen quickly. This soap opera type story is pulse pounding and the book continues procedurally following Alex through arrest, booking and making a new friend when in lock up. Alex is in a brand new relationship with Tyler and that is the main thing sustaining her. And they turn to a new attorney and an old friend to investigate privately trying to clear her name.

I’m not sure if this series will be ongoing as everything is resolved and answered neatly. But the characters are great as is the attention to details. I think you need to read Despite Chaos (the previous book) to understand Alex and Tyler’s relationship and to get background on the other characters. I will gladly read another episode if the series continues or try anything new from the author. Thank you NetGalley and Bella Books for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

OK I am giving this a 3.5 rounded up, because the writing and the mystery was quite well done. I wouldn't say it was an "edge of your seat" kind of mystery, it was easy for me to put down, but there are enough colourful characters that kept me guessing "whodunnit." I admit I was surprised at the end! There are some real heart wrenching emotions weaved throughout the story.

Where it lost major points was the utterly over the top incessant love language between the two mains, Tyler and Alex. It went on and on and on. Their co-dependency was alarming, they can't breathe without one another, they can't walk into a room without intense earth shattering gazes, their souls are so aligned they are like a jigsaw. Hey I'll do a test, I'm gonna just open the book and randomly choose a page to give you a sense of what I mean.....

"Alex returned her attention to Tyler. As they had in the courtroom, Tyler's eyes held her in a warm embrace. Jesse had better be as good as Abby thought she was because she knew she couldn't survive one more day without this breathtaking angel. Their nearness breathed energy into Alex's weary body, enough to whisper, 'hi."

I just couldn't. It was waaaaay too much. I found myself eagerly skipping many scenes where these two were in the room, such a marked difference from their build up from book one. Maybe that's my own thing though, it rubs me the wrong way when relationships are described as "my other half, I wasn't whole until she walked in," etc. Barf. The two mains came across as needy and rather immature in parts, the confidence and strength back burnered. I am unsure if I want to continue to book 3 because the mains lost my interest.

But boy I hope Ms. Miller has ideas to create Harley's story. Anyone else falling for this firecracker?

I’ve read all of Miller’s books to date and I can say the author keeps improving with each and every book.

This is book two in the Falling Castles series and you definitely should read Despite Chaos (book 1) before reading this. I would even go as far as saying read that one and read Blind Suspicion directly after. This book picks up where Despite Chaos ended, at least if memory serves. I had a bit of a hard time getting back into the story because all the characters are back and this world is just a little complicated to keep track of. And because I read a lot of books it’s sometimes hard to remember exactly what went down in a previous book of a series. Maybe these books should come with a two page synopsis “what happened before”. Anyway, that’s just me. As said Miller’s writing is strong yet again and the story is entertaining. I won’t go into it too much because I might spoil book 1. I’m just going to say I thought I had the murder mystery solved pretty early on, but jokes on me, I didn’t get it right. I have to hand it to Miller for doing an excellent job.

I appreciate Miller’s character work as well. They characters show individual growth, but also as a couple, a family unit and on so many more levels. The communication in this book is excellent yet again and I really appreciate that. The way the author spins the story and has you interested in all the characters, even the secondary ones, is really well done. This, to me, is actual Miller’s voice, the author’s signature if you will. I’d recognise it anywhere, it’s a good thing for an author to have.

I don’t know if there will be another book in this series, but I’d be happy read more about these Falling Castles. 4.25 stars

This is a continuation of book one in the series- Despite Chaos, which ended on a cliffhanger who done it? In this story Alex is arrested for her father’s murder. She’s hoping and praying that Tyler will stand by her through the investigation and trial. We also get more of Ethan, Tyler’s ex, and once again he’s a saint. A new character Jessie is introduced as Alex’s defense attorney and she’s a sweet person. There are several flashbacks back to the night of the murder. We have our 3 bad characters who are all still making trouble for Alex, her tyrannical father, her looser brother Andrew and her ex girlfriend Kelley who is a giant pain in the ass.

I liked this story and it’s a typical Miller police/mystery investigation with some sweet romance on the side. If you are a fan of Millers work you’ll enjoy this one as well.

weeeeeellllllll

i was hoping i would enjoy book 2 (this one) more than book 1, which i also listened to on audiobook a few months ago. i rlly almost gave this one 2 stars, but felt too bad/ultimetly couldn't justify it. this author is... somewhat not for me, but also, somewhat does things i rlly like/crave in more sapphic stories, so it's a combination of frustrating experiences and mild enjoyment, for me. i had a lot of issues with the manhattan sloane series, largely surrounding how cops/police were portrayed and (in my mind) put in a favorable light in a way that was frusturating. (which upon finding out the author is an ex-cop/military, makes sense, but also made me mad).

this series, moving away from main characters in the police/fbi forces, made me more excited initially! what i DO like abt this author is the fact that she tends to incorporate more familial connections (kids, siblings, found fam friends, etc.) in a way that i enjoy. there is potential there in book series, for me personally, but there are a lot of (again, mostly personal) frustrating elements surrounding them.

book 1, i felt, did not need the explicit rape scene to convey tyler's trauma, which after the fact, WAS (to my eyes) handled really well. but i mostly found myself annoyed at the instalove between tyler and alex in book 1. they spend barely any time together, at the end of the book, and then there are Love Declarations with All the Caps and Bells and Whistles. i'mmmm a slow burn gal, which is why i was totally cool to read a whole book where the mains basically never see each other, knowing it was a series, and listening to the author's previous, i like that she writes series surounding sapphic couples! i wish there were more series that stuck with one couple more often! but this one was so quick and it's not my preference. i was really hoping book 2 would draw their newfound connection out more and i would get on board.

they are ALL IN, in this one even more so than at the end of book 1. there is also... way less tyler than i wanted? we had a significant drop in her pov that really bummed me out, since i think she's my favorite? we also had... a lot more of ethan, her soon to be ex-husband, and a side plot for his romance that i just... didn't really care about? the mystery felt not as compelling as i wanted it to be, despite alex's whole life hinging on it, it ended up fine, and wrapped up decently well, but lol, rip to papa-shithead but frankly, karma's a bitch, man. for me, this just felt paced a little oddly, the flashback cuts weren't my favorite, neither (as i said) was the focus on ethan (though he's fine, and i'm glad for him and jessie, like i didn't HATE it, but they are not why i'm here, and the lack of tyler at their expense was irritating). and i also.... like, this is def a personal preference thing too, but i found a lot of alex/tyler's dynamic and declarations pretty cheesy. i think the author and i just don't vibe in a sense in how we would approach romance, but there are also bits i like!! as mentioned, so, i'm conflicted. in all honestly, this one was probably closer to a 2.5/2.75 enjoyment for me, the pacing, povs jumps, lack of tyler, amount of cheese, etc. just left me rolling my eyes or wanting more often. here's hoping book 3 is the one that does it for me! i do think (and based on reviews) that others will def enjoy this more than i did, tho.

i AM in ways attatched to the characters, and curious where the whole new big semi-blended family goes from here, so i'll likely listen to the third book, but i'll def wait for the audiobook, as lori prince's narration reallllly adds up my enjoyment for this particular author, and is in fact the reason i tried her out in the first place.

Alex and Tyler are still growing closer when Alex father is suddenly murder and of course Alex becomes the number one suspect. As we learn what made Alex father the way he is it might factor on who killed him. Alex calls on a friend to help clear her name while worrying about her relationship with Tyler who is there by her side. This was roller coaster of suspense and intrigue what people go through great lengths to get rid of someone just because you don’t want them learning your secrets. I enjoy this read I didn’t go into more details because I tend reveal more then I should but read it you know what happens.

3.5 Overall this was a pretty good mystery - not too easy to predict with plenty of viable suspects. I'm not overly fond of the plethora of POVs, but it was fairly well done, regardless. The romances were sweet if a bit cliché in their sweetness (but I only rolled my eyes a few times at the cheesy stuff, so it wasn't too bad).

There were two points that detracted from my overall enjoyment here...First, the writing style could be very play-by-play at times, to an excessive degree; there was a lot more detail than was necessary which became tedious. Second, towards the end when certain characters discovered who the killer was, they kept referring to him/her as they/them. It's completely fine that the author wanted to keep the reader in the dark about who it was, but revealing their gender still would have left plenty of suspects. Why this was an issue for me? In real life, after discovering who the culprit was, people would immediately have assigned a gender and said things like, "there he/she goes" and, "that's him/her". When multiple people repeatedly referred to this person as they/them, it was extremely detrimental to my immersion in the story because it was weird and unrealistic - it pulled my focus away from the story toward the fact that the author was just trying to hide the suspect's gender. It was annoying.

Overall, a good listen - Lori Prince does a great job of the narration - and a solid mystery that's balanced well with some (saccharine) romance.

Alex Castle’s overbearing father has, months earlier, made her the CEO of his international empire of hotels and resorts with the caveat that she stop seeing the love of her life Tyler Falling. Alex can’t and won’t stop seeing Tyler, so her father tells her in a late-night meeting in his office that he has revoked her multi-million-dollar trust fund and called a meeting of the top executives to tell them he is removing her as CEO of the company. When she returns to work the next morning, there are police everywhere and two detectives tell her that her father has been murdered. As they begin questioning Alex on her whereabouts the night before, she gets the distinct impression that they’ve already made up their minds that she killed her father. Those same detectives arrest her after her father’s funeral a few days later. Alex’s nightmare becomes her reality.

This is the second book in the Falling Castles series. Luckily, the reader need not have read the first book in this series to enjoy this one. The author gives her readers just enough information to understand the relationships between the well-drawn characters. Readers will be unable to put the book down because Miller is skilled in keeping the tension caused by Alex’s arrest and the reader’s lack of knowledge about who really killed her father.

Miller has two strong women, who obviously met in the first book, falling madly, instantly in love in this second book. The reader is given their backstory in detail, but fails to develop the secondary characters, except for the private investigator hired by Alex’s defense attorney and Tyler's ex-husband and then she makes him into a super sensitive good guy while the other secondary characters remain amorphous,

There was one issue that will cause readers to pause. A key piece of evidence found at the crime scene by the police isn’t accounted for by the end of the book because the author inadvertently has it appear two weeks after the murder in the possession of a very minor character.

If you’re a mystery fan, you’ll enjoy this book and you may not guess whodunit until the characters find out.

The second book worked out a lot of the issues I had with the writing in book one. Not all of them, but it was greatly improved. It did still have very dated speech that made me question the actual ages of the characters and made reading it a little odd, but I liked the overall storyline. The way this series handles trauma and PTSD was really done well. I really didn’t like how the jail scenes were portrayed especially Alex’s interactions with the other people in with her. I think there’s a difference between a character doing, or saying something as part of their storyline or personality, and the book itself doing or saying something and the way these scenes were written felt like it was an issue with the book. The way the main character Alex interacted with the people around her in jail came off as pretentious, condescending, and savior-ish. It wasn’t necessary to the characters, or the plot and could have just been written differently to make the book better. I did enjoy this series overall, but it had some issues that were hard for me to over look.

What an entertaining whodunit read. I really like Alex and Tyler. There friend and family group is awesome. It is hard not to like Sydney, Ethan, Harley, Abby, Indra, Erin and Bree. And of course Callie. This character driven read provides details that help to fill in some of the thoughts and reflections from the others that were not provided in book one. The police and court proceedings with the hot romance was well worth the read. The read was also informative which in my opinion is a good thing. I like when I learn something when I read. The ending is definitely set-up for a third book in the series. Bring it on.

Blind Suspicion by Stacy Lynn Miller is a novel I’ve been looking forward reading. It is the second book in the Falling Castles Series, and having read and loved the first book, Despite Chaos, I’ve been eagerly awaiting this one. I’m happy to say that I enjoyed this second addition to the series as much if not more than the first.

In this tale, Tyler Falling and Alex Castle are a couple, and Alex is looking forward to getting out from under her father’s control and demands. What she did not expect was the sudden suspicious death of her father, or that someone who knows the Castle family secrets would leak information that makes Alex look guilty of murder. Arrested and placed on bail, Alex now has to clear her name before she ends up spending decades in prison. She needs help, but she doesn’t know who to trust.
This is very much a gripping, intriguing murder mystery added to the continued romance between two characters that I fell in love with in the first novel in the series. We see this story mostly through Alex, and boy is she having a bad few weeks. The storyline hits Alex with a murder mystery she must solve, or she loses everything from her freedom, her business, her family and friends, to possibly even Tyler.

There are also some really good descriptions in this story. I’m still shivering from reading about Alex’s night in jail. The murder and the questions of who did it and why is also quite fascinating. The love story of Alex and Tyler continued to draw me into the story and fit well into the mystery and suspense.

I am totally hooked on this series, and I can’t wait to find out what is going to happen next to this couple. If you have not read these novels yet, I recommend that you read them in order. They are both exceptional books and I recommend them both.

When Tyler Falling and Alex Castle take the steps to be together they are met with some resistance, mainly from Alex’s father who can’t accept the fact that his little girl grew up with a deep sense of not being like other girls… she liked, no, changed that to she loved women. Having a lesbian run his business isn’t in the cards even though no one else is ready to operate the company. Her sister has moved on while her twin brother has gotten himself deeper into a life of gambling, which leads Andrew into stealing funds from the company. Syd is living in California growing grapes, making wine with her husband.
Tyler is still nagativing the realities of being an out and proud lesbian. She has broken up with her husband Ethan, leaving him for Alex. Now her and Ethan are trying to do what is best for their daughters and Ethan is trying his best to get over Tyler. It does help that Tyler has fallen in love with Alex, someone Ethan likes and respects.
Upon being told to meet with her father Alex went to the meeting, only to find out the next day her father had been murdered. Now some are blaming Alex for the murder but with Ethan’s help they are finding out more people wanted William dead then they’d though.
Ms Miller’s follow up to ‘Despite Chaos’ is every bit as good if not better than the first book in this series. Great plot with great characters make for a great read, Very enjoyable read.

This is the second book in the series which made it a bit harder for e to fill in the blanks. It is doable but I do suggest reading the first book before reading this one.

When Alex's father dies it doesn't take long for the police to consider her a suspect. With the help of her lawyer and a PI she sets out to prove to them she is innocent.

This book is a good mystery with some romance as it's also about the growing bond between Tyler and Alex. I liked the mystery and even though it wasn't sit on your edge mystery, it was good.

The romance between Alex and Tyler was a bit harder for me to follow as I did not read book one. The attraction for sure is there and they are still in the hot for you with a glance fase.

Alex and Tyler have a very new relationship but Alex is ready to stand up to her controlling father. The night she has a confrontational meeting with him, he dies. Alex knows she didn’t do it but there’s a lot of evidence saying she did. The story of who did and how is interwoven with family drama and some excellent ancillary characters.
There is more than enough here to keep you turning the pages as Alex and Tyler navigate through new love. The scenes with Alex in prison are very well done and there is genuine angst within the various family dynamics.
Recommended if you’ve read the first book but even if you haven’t there is enough to keep you engaged.

When I read Ms Miller's first novel in this series, Despite Chaos, I just loved the story and characters and thought the book was very well written. This book just reiterates all those same feelings and thoughts. The first book in this series spent a lot of time getting to know Alex Castle and Tyler Falling as individuals, this novel really shows them as a couple going through a stressful situation as Alex fights for her freedom and life when she is arrested for the murder of her father. I really love these two women and they seem so right for each other. I am looking so forward to reading the next book in this series. I give this novel 4 ¾ stars.

This was an intriguing sequel to Despite Chaos. The romance moves along but things are falling apart for Alex and her family, especially when she’s charged with manslaughter in NYC. This takes place in New York, with even Ethan showing up since he’s hired to help Alexa again. There are plenty of red herrings; I was wrong about who the murderer was until very late in the novel, but I’m often wrong. I enjoyed the book and its resolution. I hope Miller releases another book soon.

A well written murder mystery romance with an amazing plot. The main characters were fully developed and relatable. I enjoyed every minute of it. I recommend.

Eagerly awaited this sequel to Despite Chaos which ended on a bit of a cliff hanger. Is Alex the killer? Is Tyler’s ex as nice as he seems. This story did not disappoint. Now awaiting next in the series.

This was a lovely book in what looks to be a trilogy I am looking forward to finishing.

I like the narration and the author and how elements of family and character development grow.

Loved book one and two.

Not big on spoilers but highly recommend.
