This is supposed to be a stand alone book and it kind of is and kind of isn't. Great characters and the author does a terrific job explaining the backstory in a quick and succinct way. But I think for me at least I need to read the first books to understand the alien/human dynamic and background. Dom and CJ are great but their lousy communication took away from the story. They had chemistry but if you are hoping for alien/human sexy times, you'll be disappointed.

CJ is one of the few survivors of the Mars attack. And she is dealing with so much guilt and pain now. But, despite everything she’s been through, she’s such an amazing woman. I really loved her fiery and cheeky personality. And that sarcasm! Even more, she’s such a caring and compassionate person and such a dedicated medic. I loved her so much!
Domik is the brilliant weapons specialist in the Taurean forces. He’s one huge, strong, dangerous, lethal and brooding male. Even more, he’s notorious for always being very level-headed. But there is so much more to him than his grumpy appearance. Domik is so honorable, protective, dependable and a genuine sweetheart. And he has such a way with words! He’s a magnificent male who just wants to be loved and I absolutely adored everything about this mighty and scowling warrior!
The development of Domik and CJ’s relationship was so wonderful! From the start, both had such strong feelings for each other but both were afraid to act on them and ruin their friendship. Oh, talk about tension… Then they’re forced to crash-land on Earth and need to survive together.. and there is only one bed. 😏 I loved their chemistry and their teasing and banters were so good! Even more, I loved that, with her positive attitude, CJ managed to slowly erode the walls around Domik’s heart. And I absolutely adored that he was always there for her, being so patient and respectful and so supportive when she needed to deal with her inner demons. CJ and Domik were so amazing together and when they finally gave in to their undeniable attraction, the passion they shared was scorching hot!
In addition, the storyline was fantastic! The people of Earth and counting on the Taureans to protect them from the Xakul. But not everyone is on board with the plans. And there might be more to the Earth’s resistance and the Taurean Purists than anyone expects.
Overall, the story is another marvellous addition to the series. It’s filled with non-stop action, danger, suspense, humor, adventure, blazing hot romance and characters you can’t help but fall in love with.
I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved it!

To look at, Domik is the stereotypical huge brooding silent warrior that can send people scurrying away with a glare. This facade hides a wickedly smart male who has been hurt and has vowed to never let that happen again. He has worked very hard to build up his walls and keep pretty much everyone, including at times his own brother, at a distance. The one person he cannot do that with is Clodagh, or CJ. She never seems to be afraid of him or put off by the gruffness of his manner not even when she gets grunts, silence or monosyllabic answers. He very seldom smiles, more of a quirking of the lips to be honest and only ever when he is with her. He is totally hers and she is totally oblivious. He has settled for friendship because that is better than nothing and does soothe him somewhat but he just cannot get a read on her. Does she like him? He would do pretty much anything for her but could he leave if it turns out she doesn't want him? CJ has slowly but surely been falling for the gentle giant who plays chess with her every day. She sees that there is so much more to him that he lets others see and she has it as her side mission to try and make him smile. She cannot get over her own belief that she is a coward when I think in truth she is suffering from survivor's guilt. She did what she had to in order to survive and it was not without cost to herself. If she could only see how strong she is. Then again being forced to spend time with Domik, just the two of them, after they crash the escape pod that they had to share seems to be messing with her head. He couldn't like her, could he? Would he lose him if he found what she felt?

With this story featuring leads Domik and CJ the third book in the series evolves into another winning read. The insectoid Xakals are currently homed in on Earth with an attack imminent.
Aboard their space cruiser the team of Taurean warriors and their human mates attempts to formulate a plan for Earth’s defense after receiving a communication that the Taurean battle fleet would not be arriving to aid them.
Domik their weapons specialist has harbored secret feelings for medic/communications specialist CJ whose name is actually Clodagh, and he is the only one who calls her that, and oh so sweet when he does is unaware, she feels the same way about him.
While these two dances around their feelings for each other the war for Earth rages and the adventure begins when they both end up on Earth after ejecting in an escape pod together when their vessel is destroyed by the enemy.
I really enjoyed this new story as I have the previous and became fully vested in its outcome while rooting for these two great characters to wise up about their attraction for each other! There were plenty of surprises and suspense amidst fast paced action scenes populating the pages and a slow intensive build up to the lead's final revelations on their feelings for each other, will they, or won’t they?
This was a well written entry and provided quite a few hours of pleasurable reading as I’m sure it will to others who have followed this storyline so far.

Wow I loved this book and the attraction between the main characters had me on the edge wondering if they would ever get together even with all the danger, action, suspense, drama, adventure, humor, sexual tension and teasing banter that they go through throughout this book. Clodagh (CJ) is a medic / communications specialist who works along side a sexy and grumpy Taurean warrior and weapons specialist Domik who she has always wanted but would never crossed the line because it could ruin there friendship. Domik Vo’Ress is a weapons specialist who works with Cj who he has always loved and desires like no other but would never act on it just in case she rejected him but he wanted her badly. Now the ship has been destroyed by the Xakul who are at war with his people taureans who want to save earth and so they make it to an escape pod and squeeze into together and crash land on earth and make there way to hotel and with only one bed there desires for each other come to light and there blazing night together brings unexpected pleasures the both want but will it last or do they regret it. What happens next between them do they have a future together and can they work together with earths people and save the planet from the evil Xakul. Brilliant book.

Domik and CJ's Adventure . . .
These two characters seem to be made for each other. Domik Vo’Ress and Clodagh Jones (“CJ”) have amazing chemistry drawing them to each other. Yet they are afraid of ruining the wonderful friendship they share, so they pull back. A little communication would help, but apparently those skills are not in their toolbox.
When the two of them crash on Earth and have to share one bed, you will definitely be entertained. He is a wonderful, patient, protective male. And CJ’s positive outlook offsets his grumpy moments just perfectly. The reader always gets the sense of both of them being there for each other and their obvious passion for each other brings out a huge smile from the reader who has been cheering them on the entire time. Grab your copy and share their growing relationship despite their trying to fight it all the way. This is the third book in the series and I can't get enough of them. The world building is amazing and each book adds to the previous. All the books in this series give the readers clues to the possible couple that we will learn about in the next book. There aren't any cliff hangers and all 3 tie together fluidly. I love how Melody includes ALL the characters, not just the main couple, in all of these books. You are never left wondering how things worked out in the future. By this third book the Taureans and humans are like a family with the best friendships and they are always working together to protect Earth. I honestly can't say enough about Melody as she has such a fluid aspect to her books and they all pick right up where the other left off. I don't have to go back and do a reread as nothing is lagging. I can't wait to see which couple we get to learn about in the next book. :)

CJ and the quiet stoic Dominic have developed a friendship that neither wants to risk, even though they both have stronger feelings towards each other. When their ship is attacked and they are the only two remaining with only one functioning escape pod, they each refuse to leave the other. Shoving themselves into the too-small-space, they have to survive a space battle, an EMP, a crash landing, and finding their way to the nearest base.
Of course they encounter enemies and friends in the process, and they each find themselves having to rescue the other more than once as they both continue to realize they can't live without each other, but become even more afraid of losing what they have in hopes of gaining something more.

This is an absolutely awesome read. I couldn’t put it down, I loved reading it. The characters are brilliant, Domik is a very large, well muscled male who knows how to scare people off with a look. Underneath all that grumpiness is a male that has been hurt badly in the past and made him swear off females for life…until he meets CJ. CJ is a feisty female I think suffering from guilt for what’s happened. They both have strong feelings for each other but aren’t brave enough to ask the other and are a little clueless to be honest. The storyline is exciting and entertaining and I am really looking forward to the next book in the series.

CJ, the female human lead, and Domik, the male alien lead, are friends who are deeply attracted to each other with neither willing to ask for more and potentially ruin what they have. But when war is on top of them and they’re under threat from another alien group, they’re pushed together and move towards more.
This story is dual POV, well written, and the awkwardness between the lead characters was palpable. The integration of secondary characters who have been leads in other stories was lovely. I enjoyed watching these lead character support each other and take turns being strong.

CJ/Clodagh (h), a Space Force medic, and Domic (H), a Taurean weapons specialist, are friends who are secretly attracted to one another but don't dare to hope that the other cares for them. The two will have to flee together in an escape pod during a battle between the Xakul and Taureans and then will have to continue to fight together when they crash on Earth. There's lots of alien fighting action, as well as hot, intense sexual action too. The storyline was interesting, and the characters were both strong individuals who finally realize their HEA. Nive to see other characters from previous books playing a part in CJ and Domic's story.

CJ and Domik are with their friends and shipmates attempting to stop the Xakul from destroying Earth with the Taurean fleet. During an attack the ship is damaged and CJ and Domik have to share a life pod and land on Earth. While trying to get to the Space Force compound they come across human resistance who are convinced this is all a hoax who may have something to do with the Taurean Purists. Throughout this CJ and Domik are uncertain of each other's feelings. A well written story that had me hooked from beginning to end. I look forward to reading more by this author.

I loved this alien sci-fi romance with CJ and Domic, CJ hid away when everyone else was being murdered on Mars so now she has survivors guilt but with a sexy warriors support (Domic) he slowly knocked her walls down. These two had so much trouble communicating with each other so their romance was stop and start quite a bit of the time but they eventually reached their HEA. Fantastic story I enjoyed it immensely and I highly recommend this book.

August 16, 2022CJ may be prickly with others, but she works to get grumpy Domik to smile. Domik secretly loves the lengths to which CJ will go to get him to smile because he loves her. When their shuttle explodes and they are forced to share an escape pod and then a single room in a sketchy hotel, they must work together and trust each other to survive. The chemistry is amazing. I was so lost in the story I forgot to put it down.

I really enjoyed this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. Domik and CJ had such great chemistry together. Both are attracted to each other, but hide it rather then risk driving the other away. They have horrible communication skills! However I did enjoy watching their relationship develop and how they supported each other. The story was well written and well paced. An exciting adventure with action, danger, and suspense. I couldn't put it down. 4 stars.

A really excellent story and entry into the alien mates trope. A battle in space culminates in two chess fanatics together in an escape pod, a crash-landing on Earth, an abduction, a rescue, an alien attack, and confessions of love. Action, adventure, and angst are woven into an exciting tale. I stayed up several nights reading this book and was definitely not disappointed. If you like this genre you'll enjoy this book. Wait for it -- like a spicy dish, the heat arrives at the end.

I didn't set this book down until I read it all. I was so caught up in the danger and drama of the war but mostly with Domik and CJ's friends to lovers relationship. These two secretly loved one another dearly, but was so afraid to ruin their friendship if the other didn't feel the same.

Two emotionally scarred people meet in space and fall in love. But the past and the present are holding them both back, each thinking they are alone in how they feel. I enjoyed the story and the characters of Domik and CJ. It took them a while to get to the nitty gritty though.

This book is filled with action and adventure, the interaction and chemistry between the characters is amazing. I can't wait to read more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.

None stop action I was biting my nails trying to read faster to find out what happened next. I thought cj was a bit whiny in the beginning and with her severe panic attacks in surprised she was allowed in the military otherwise loved the book can't wait for more.

Oh my! This sci-fi romance is absolutely brilliant!! I truly loved it! Domik is big, muscled and growly... and a complete sweetheart.. C.J. is so brave, and she doesn't even realize it. Wonderful story.. Packed with honorable warriors, danger, and romance!

Domik is absolutely so sweet. I fell in love with him in the first chapter which is rare for me. I haven't read the other books in the series but it didn't make it harder to read/understand.

An excellent sci-fi romance. Domik and CJ are in for one heck of an adventure when their shuttle explodes. There are a few things that may make some readers uncomfortable but an excellent read overall.

Dom was a great hero - intelligent and tough, while also vulnerable and protective. Exciting story and great world building. Fairly lighthearted easy read.

Domik and Clodagh
Too short but the utter sweetness of the big Taurean Domik just melts the heart. CJ is a woman who survived an alien attack from the bad guys by hiding in a morgue cooler and she is stationed on a Taurean warship.

nice short series
