The Sin

Rate this book
When Eve Bishop meets Lucifer Astor, she is drawn to him like a moth to the flame. The strength, passion, and intelligence radiating from him have a magnetic effect, but Eve doesn't afford to fall victim to his polished Wall Street facade. What she needs from Lucifer is not romance, but information that could make her career. An exclusive exposé on the most successful member of the Astor clan would turn her from a freelancer to a journalist.
It was easy to lie to Lucifer in the beginning, but the more Eve gets to know him, the more her heart starts working against her. The man has the world in his palm and he is offering it to her on a silver platter. What's happening between them is not something people just ignore and get over, and Eve is painfully aware of that. Lucifer is a broken angel with an army of demons torturing his soul, but he's her broken angel. Eve has a choice to make - she can go and trash Lucifer through the mud and make a name for herself or keep his secrets close to her chest and protect the man she loves.
In the end, the choice is made for her, but this is only the beginning of their story.

I never chose to be a writer... Writing chose me. In Romania, we have a popular tradition for when a child's hair it's cut for the first time. Friends and family gather to celebrate the future of the child and the little one is given a tray full of objects. Now, on this tray, you can place anything from money, car keys to food, and pets. Every object is a symbol and it's said that the first three things the child would pick will determine his or her path in life.

My loves, I picked red lipstick, a pencil, and a glass full of whiskey...I picked the romance writer's starting pack.

I was fortunate enough to put my work out into the world, become an author, and share this incredible and uplifting journey with each and every one of you.

Welcome to my universe, and Thank You for being here!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoy Diane Portman-Ray’s writing and I’m blown away by her skills considering she’s an indie author. There’s quite a few spicy scenes. I liked the whole concept coming from the Bible and the characters being named Eve and Lucifer. No, this book isn’t religious at all it’s just character names. Unfortunately, the characters themselves did not sit right with me.

Lucifer is rich, obsessive man that 1) falls head over heels in love with Eve almost instantly and 2) has stalker like tendencies. He would get her private medical information behind her back, would show up out the blue and continue to send her random gifts without her ever giving him the address. He would also just sexually put himself onto her.

Eve is a confusing character. Multiple times throughout the book I thought she had a goal and had her mind set. I was wrong. She flip-flopped so much through this story. She kept going back on her word. Every time she would get mad at Lucifer she would quickly do a 180 with a snap of your fingers. It was hard to have any emotions towards her. One major thing that turned me off was she would get mad at him, then he would push himself onto her and she would do nothing about it?? Even though in her head it seemed like she was against??? She confused me on way too many levels..

It’s kind of hard to tell both of their maturity levels too. You think one time they’re acting their age immature, and then the next time they’re acting like they’re five years old. There is just so much toxicity between the both of them. They’re trying to overrule each other, there seems to be no communication skills (which is a huge red flag for me) - and if there was any one or the other completely lets it go over their heads like nothing was said.

Diane is amazing in every trope she writes. Mafia? check. Contemporary? Check. Every book is different but never fails to hook you in. The blurb doesn't reveal much so I didn't know what I was getting into and I was happily surprised.

Eve is a starving journalist who's working for her ex bf who cheated on her but the job is horrible. She decides to show her middle finger and walk out but to get a job elsewhere she needs a piece which is unique and what better the subject than a business mogul who's skeletons are squeaky clean? But when they do meet, will she be able to resist him?

Usually I get bored halfway while reading books which aren't dark but there was something or the other which made me want to keep reading. There's plot, suspense and I liked Eve and Lucifer. Well, there were times when I wanted to smack him and make him see sense but I like the fact that this is a trilogy and we'll get to see more of him and hopefully he sees the error of his ways. Eve was a practical woman who didn't give up. When Lucifer decided to be a jackass, she stood up for herself and when his insecurities made him push her away, she went in breaking them down. I'm super excited for the next book and that ending had me jumping up and down with joy cause the next book is gonna have one of my fav tropes! Totally recommend this!

Hold my purse, because I want to ki!! Diane.
I'm kidding I love her, but it's really hard not to hate her right now.
Why you ask ? Because this mother-fucking amazing book ends on cliffhanger and my brain is dead.
Do you know how quick read this was ?! I hate that i love that kind of books. They just pull you in, and you can't put the book down until you are at the end, and in this case want to ki!! author 😂

This book was AMAZING! I loved the twists and turns and the way it kept me hold my breath until the last page.

Eve and Lucifer were a match made in hell, but they were so fitted for each other. They chemistry was oh my god! And they were surely hot together too.

Regarding characters, I loved Eve's determination and the strong way she loves. Lucifer was a huge charmer and I didn't stand a chance. The man is hunted and I can't wait to see his demons and fully understand him.

All I can say more is that I need book two right now!

OH man this was next level. I couldn't wait to read this. I devoured it right up. So many secrets and twists and turns that keep you glued to the pages.

Eve and Lucifer were a match made. The chemistry between these two was off the charts HOT!!

Eve is a journalist and is stuck at a job not being able to reach her potential working for an ex boyfriend. An opportunity presents it self and she jumps to make the most of her career. What Eve didn't expect was Lucifer and the reaction this man has made her feel...

Lucifer. Oh man this man was next level HOT. Sexy possessive business man who never hears the word NO. He is relentless in his pursuit to get what he wants and what he wants is Eve..

" You'll always be mine. Even if I'm not with you. Even If I'm dead. You'll only be mine."

Ugh I was so not ready for this to be over...This ends on a cliff hanger and will leave you wanting more...

I had so much reading this book and Diane slayed with this and her amazingness in writing books!

Eve and Lucifer we're such interesting characters I felt so much for them so deeply and their complexity was written beautifully by Diane. She explored their relationship while showing the hardest patches in it.

I cannot wait for the second book to come and consume me whole.
