Shawn Mayhew's rodeo career has taken off, and it would be just perfect if things didn't keep changing back home. While part of him would like to stay and help his parents with the ranch, he knows his heart is out there in the arena riding broncs.
Jessica McClaine's life is picture perfect—on the outside at least. So when she's invited to her estranged cousin's wedding, she leaves her posh New York City life and an impending wedding to brave the wilds of Wyoming and maybe find herself along the way. What she didn't expect was having to be saved by a cowboy-in-shining-armor when her car breaks down. Even more bizarre, is finding that she actually enjoys the life he lives both on the ranch and on the rodeo circuit. As her blog's popularity grows, Jessica must decide what's more important, the parties and events back home, or the sense of freedom she feels whenever she's with Shawn.
Jaclyn is an Idaho farm girl who grew up loving to read. She developed a love for writing as a senior in high school, when her dad jokingly said she was the next Dr. Seuss (not even close, but very sweet). She met her husband, Steve, at BYU, and they have six happy, crazy children who encourage her to keep writing. After owning a bookstore and running away to have adventures in Australia, they settled back down in their home in Utah. Jaclyn now spends her days herding her kids to various activities and trying to remember what she was supposed to do next.
A surprise guest for Trevor and Wendy’s wedding has Shawn going in circles. He and Jessica McClaine have nothing in common. Her life circles around social media, Shawn’s not so much. Jaclyn Hardy had me laughing, crying and yelling at the characters. Being very familiar with stubborn rodeo cowboys, I know what they’re willing to risk to get the next ride. I loved this book and look forward to the next one.
Roping and riding. Mathew bloodline. A wedding and an escaped groomsman lead to a disastrous beginning by finding a long lost cousin of the bride on the deserted stretch of road. But roads often those less taken lead to change and this time all the changes are positive.
Jaclyn Hardy's series The Mayhews is heartwarming and wonderful. The characters are down to earth and engaging. Each sibling had their struggles but they always had family to encourage and support them. The boys have settled down so it's little sis turn. Can't wait for her story.
It is always fun to pick up a book that makes you smile and forget about your real world for a few hours. I realized I may have read this out of order in the series but it's definitely a stand alone book and I look forward to diving into the other mayhem books.
