Your Best Skin is your essential skincare manual, breaking down the science of your skin in a friendly, trustworthy and accessible way.
Pharmaceutical scientist and beauty writer Hannah English takes an unbiased, science-backed dive into everything you need to know about caring for your skin, as she destigmatises skin conditions and asks us to stop blaming our diet and hygiene.
Including quizzes to help you understand your skin, Hannah teaches you how you can heal yourself with your own beauty ritual that is actually tailored to your own needs. You'll even learn how to read a skincare label by decoding all the science jargon. Skin issues are legitimate medical issues and Hannah teaches us that science is up for the job of healing them. The best part is that there is a miracle cream, you just have to understand what’s right for you.
Including photography, infographics and diagrams, Your Best Skin makes caring for your skin easy.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book! I have followed Hannah for a while on Instagram, and I love how she cuts through all the nonsense that can come with the beauty industry. I value her honest opinion and knowledge, that she shares throughout this book.
Although the book comes across as a beginners guide and I consider myself to be an intermediate skincare expert, I still really enjoyed this book and learnt a lot about the how and why of skincare. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in skin health, I particularly love the suggestions for products.
This book will educate you on how to build a routine from scratch, how to work out your skin type and skin concerns and how to treat them. It will also unpack some of those ingredients that you’re just not sure if you should be using or not and what they actually do.
The technical side of skincare made easy!! I love this book so so much 😍
I thought I had a good general idea of skincare and active ingredients etc but this book helped me understand so much more of the scientific stuff and even just the basics! It's really transformed the way I think about my skin and what I use.
All the language used is so easy to understand without dumbing anything down. It's a different (and better) side of skincare compared to what you see/hear from mainstream brands and on tiktok.
I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more or is a complete novice to their skins needs.
So good! It made the science feel accessible and interesting and made sure to refer back to proven scientific studies in all she wrote about. Her chapters about diet and injectables were refreshing - we shouldn't have to cut food groups out or age gracefully as society says! Her writing was funny and relatable too.
Very good, really helpful! I loved how simply the author put everything, it makes creating a routine that is actually good for your skin very helpful. Only thing i would add is more affordable recommendations and more brands, I think the book may have been sponsored so that would explain why there weren’t many different brands. Overall loved though 10/10 would recommend
super helpful and educational, the author covers everything about skincare and helped me understand y skin better💗
people will most likely continue to buy skincare products and take care of their skin for the rest of their lives, so everyone might as well just learn about their skin and which products/ingredients suits them best
Your Best Skin is informational, easy to digest, and most importantly discusses all things skin-related in an uplifting and motivating tone. Such a great read, and I specifically enjoyed how Hannah’s science background informs her ingredient discussions!
Absolutely love this book. As an esthetician, and a giant skincare nerd, this book is exactly what I wanted it to be and is full of all the things I try to educate people about daily. If you're thinking about maybe reading it, just do it. I promise it's worth it.
Some information missing in parts. The author would briefly recommend a step or product for a skin routine and not mention the reason nor benefit of it.
