Soldiers of Misfortune #3

Saved by the Marines

Rate this book
They never should’ve been protecting me. Now, they’re my only hope…

As the daughter of a US Senator, my life was never going to be normal. I thought I’d finally escaped out from my father’s shadow, but he dragged me back kicking and screaming.

When Daddy Dearest insists I accompany him on a dangerous trip to Columbia, I can think of about a thousand things I’d rather do—like dig my eyeballs out with a rusty spoon.

The only bonus?

My protection detail is hot with a capital H-O-T.

Three Marines—who might want to be here even less than I do—that follow me everywhere I go. Wolfe, Jas, and Kip have one job—keeping me safe.

The way they satisfy my every craving in the dark of night is something my father can never know, not if the four of us want to stay together.

When my dad’s enemies come for me, my protectors are ruthless in their desire to get me back. And when they vow to hunt down and eliminate every threat against me, I know things between us will never be the same…

This is my first book I’ve read by Cathleen Jones and Frank Jensen; I always love when I find new authors!

I immediately fell in love with all the main characters and also the sub characters and their personalities …… Well maybe not all the sub characters…….. I didn’t like very much Bailey’s father. the man just seem so very cold and self-centered….. oh snap I almost forgot about Bailey’s so called boyfriend, who just couldn’t take no for answer …. but besides that, I’m definitely looking forward to getting to know more about these characters in the future books

Now as for this being book 3 in the series, I didn’t feel like I was lost at any time with any of the sub characters since I never had read the Previous 2 books

Bailey was the daughter of U.S. Senator Michaels; her mother passed away years ago and was left with this over bearing father

Bailey had plans for her summer Vacation to do Internship as a baker, so she could fulfill her dreams of someday owning her own place, until her father Shattered those dreams and made her go to Columbia with him for the summer.…. due to some death threats……. Bailey learned long ago she couldn’t tell her father no, cuz she had to choose her battles with him.

Usually. Senators travel with Secret Service as their babysitters- oops bodyguards. Not having Elite Marines team as their guard, so you can just Imagine how surprised Wolfe, Jas, and Kip were when they were assigned to U.S. Senator Michaels for the summer…… they knew that they were Over qualified for the job. Who were they to complain when their Commander assigned them to this Task force.

But then they realize that were also going to be guarding the Senator’s daughter as well…….
.
Let me just say that this book was nothing like I had expected it to be, it had so many twist and turns to it …… this story had one those slow burns to it when it came to romance dept, but darn did it have somewhat of fast pace in all the other aspects of this story…… the author will have you at the edge of your seat all the way to the end……… as for wanting to read more

Saved by the Marines was a departure from the other books in this series with the heroine being strong in a different way and the setting being a little more civilized. Bailey is a political pawn in her father's life and when he forces her to come to Colombia with him during her summer break, she is less than pleased. Not one to rock the boat, she goes grumbling but finds that her security detail are three marines that make her hot and bothered.

Wolfe, Jas, and Kip are Marine Force Recon and being bodyguards to a senator and his daughter is not what they had in mind for their next mission. They don't like it and they certainly don't like the beautiful Bailey that pushes all their buttons.

When Bailey is thrown into a dangerous situation, these three marines realize she means more to them than they're letting themselves believe and they'll do anything to keep her safe AND make her theirs.

"She was ours. I never planned on letting her go, One day she'd be our wife. She would bear our sons and daughters. She was going to be the center of our family"

Twists and turns, suspense and angst, and a good dose of steam made this installment in this series enjoyable and wonderful. Wolfe, Jas, and Kip were alpha males that were possessive, jealous, and protective and I loved them. Bailey was more timid and classy but stood on her own when she needed to. I liked the growth of her character. The chemistry between Bailey and her men was hot and I would have liked a few more group scenes to be honest lol. But that's me being greedy. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

Ok.
I’m calling it.
This duo write good books, but terrible why-choose books. I’m not sure how they handle MF, but from now on I really need to force myself to only read those from these two. They just don’t understand how important it is to have equal connections with each partner in the group. They focus on one or two and leave the others off page, making me feel like they don’t see them as being as important as the rest of the group.
It’s so freaking annoying.
They’ll write groups scenes, but not give each character a moment alone to connect to the FMC individually.

I hate it.
It’s annoying as shit.
And that really sucks because most other parts of the rest of the books I really like.
Although they also seem to have a habit of ending their books very abruptly, and teasing different kinky things that they then, don’t follow through with on page.
Like this one.
There were hints all over the place, and even a chasing scene at the end, that all pointed to some Spicy primal play. And then it just cuts off with then carrying her somewhere…what bullshit.

I don’t know, man.
Some reason, I can’t stop reading this damn series, but just know, I don’t think this duo should be writing why choose. At best, they’d be good at MFM.
It’s disappointing as hell, but I can’t help picking up the next damn book with a hope and a prayer that it’ll be better..🤷🏻‍♀️(I guess I’m dumb like that😂)

Saved by the Marines is book #3 in the Soldiers of Misfortune series. This is a dark military reverse harem romance standalone and has some triggers, so make sure to read that before diving in!

“𝐒𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬. 𝐈 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐨. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐞’𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐞. 𝐒𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬. 𝐒𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲.“

This is my first book by Cathleen Cole & Frank Jensen and right from the very first page- I was hooked. The action starts from the beginning and you learn very quickly that Bailey is not happy with being the dutiful daughter for her overbearing father anymore. You slowly start to see her come out of her shell and stick up for herself, which is amazing to see.

Wolfe, Jas, and Kip are super protective and possessive right off the bat.. even if they don’t know why lol. I loved each of the guys’ personalities as they complete Bailey in a way that is super rare to see.

I am definitely looking forward to reading more by these authors!!

I love this series so much.
(It’s a series of interconnected standalones.)

In this one we have our FMC, Bailey, who is the daughter of a senator. The senator has hijacked her summer plans of working in a bakery by forcing her to go to Columbia with him.

The senator requests a team of Marines be his security. The Marines are just as unhappy as Bailey to be there.

Wolfe, the leader.
Kip, the golden retriever.
Jas, the grump.

They each know they shouldn’t make any moves on the senator’s daughter but can’t fight their attraction for her either.

When Bailey is taken they have some decisions to make.

Loved the build up and the different dynamics of the men with Bailey. Had me laughing out loud on some parts. A few heart squeeze moments.

The spice was spicing 👌🥵

•Why Choose
•Age-gap
•Forced proximity
•Alphaholes
•Light primal

Can’t wait to read book 4!

Loved it!!
3 delicious Marines that adore their woman, what's not to love?!!
There was action, suspense and steam! Bailey was such a sweetheart, despite the way she was treated. I liked seeing her stand up for herself and become more confident throughout the story. I liked each of her men equally as well. I couldn't pick a favorite. I loved the epilogue!!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

This is my first book I’ve read by Cathleen Jones and Frank Jensen, but it certainly won’t be my last! I am very impressed with the story telling and how the characters came together!

I absolutely adored Bailey, she wasn’t one of the badass type of heroine where she was capable of taking care of herself from the get-go, but she was definitely fierce and not a wilting flower. I love how she interacted with each of the guys and the other characters around her. The guys were great as well and I’m not sure who I liked more. They were not quite as overbearing as other alpha-male types I’ve read in other books, which was very nice!!

I’m glad we got to meet some of the characters for the next book! Can’t wait to see Suave and the rest of his team again! I hope Bailey’s friend Amy gets a book too!

I will definitely have to check out the other books in this series and I look forward to the next ones as well!!!

Another fabulous book in this great Military RH series. I will admit that it took me a little bit to warm up to Bailey as she was not as kickass in the beginning as Colby and Zinna from the prior two books. But as she found herself and stood her ground, she became a much more fun person to learn about. I absolutely adored her men Wolfe, Jas and Kip, but then I do love Military men. They were fun, they were believable, and they were protective. They would do anything for Bailey. And it was nice to see some surprises in the book, the villain wasn't as obvious as you would have thought. Such an enjoyable read. Can't wait for the next one

This book was awesome. When I started the book I didn’t know it was book 3 in a series, when they started dropping names I thought sounded like I should know, I figured that out. Even without reading the first two I was able to enjoy this book without any confusion. This is a reverse harem with no crossing of swords. Only trigger warnings I can think of would be kidnapping and some CNC.
I deducted half a star cause I felt some things were rushed in the last chapter and the epilogue, but in no way did that take away from the story.

I, honestly, was taken by surprise with this book multiple times. I’m, typically, pretty good at guessing how a story will play out and Cathleen kept taking the book in directions I wasn’t expecting. She did an amazing job with the chemistry between the characters and having Bailey’s character grow throughout the book. Watching Bailey find her inner strength with the help of Wolfe, Jas, and Kip and break free from the controlling ways of her father and ex-boyfriend was fantastic!! HIGHLY recommend reading!!

And Cathleen Cole does it again. I seriously can not get enough of her books. Like everyone is different and fantastic. So this one is the third in the Soldiers of Misfortune series, and each can be read as a stand-alone, but honestly why would you want to do that? This gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.

Happy Reading 📚

Cathleen does it again! One of my favorite series to read and re-read. This one keeps you guessing all the way to end. Which is always what we want in a good read, and makes it even harder to put down. Baileys story is top notch and her vibe is different from our other females. 10/10 always recommend!

Cathleen does it again, this is my favorite set of men in the series. They way they take charge , get her away from her controlling father. The journey of growth Bailey goes on through the whole story is amazing to see. The spiciness just rolls of the pages when the Wolfe, Kip, and Jas interact with her is great. They each have their own time with her and then together too! WOO! Definitely read this book!

What could be better than a hot Marine being the security detail for your Senator father?  Well, 3 hot Marines, obviously!

Bailey is trying to strive for a life of her own, when her father requires her to join him in Columbia, Bailey has always taken second place to her dad's campaigning and career and usually takes her 'place' with minimal defiance.

Wolfe, Jas and Kip feel like they are on baby sitting duty, something doesn't add up as to why they've been assigned as security detail for the Senator and his Daughter.   The Daughter with the tempting body and unexpectedly (in their eyes) kind personality.

Events take a dramatic turn with a kidnapping, rescue, simmering feelings and building heat. Full of drama and tension and plenty of action, both in and out of the bedroom! Guaranteed HEA. Plenty of grit and determination from our FMC.
Great read 📚

Finished my Arc read of Saved by the Marines and I really enjoyed it! I love Cathleen's balance of plot, action and spice in her stories! I think this is my favorite so far of the Soldiers of Misfortune series but I can't wait to read the next one! This is a why choose series and its wonderfully written. If you enjoy a great story plot with some action and spice then you'll really enjoy this book and the series!

Each story is written about different main characters with HEAs and no cliffhangers. We do get to see some of the characters throughout the books and that's always a fun little surprise!

I really enjoyed this book! The men were the soft on the inside but hard on the out! I loved the dynamic and how they operated. Author did a great job on our lovely FMC as much as she seemed weak, she was anything but. She handled everything more deeply and it worked well. The story line and plot were there. There were a few events that happened that didn’t have their big moment it just became a normal occurrence, which is fine, I think I’m so used to it the other way. Definitely doesn’t take away from the book being well done.

I have read everyone book of this series, and I think this one is the best so far. As usual, I couldn't put the book down from the first page. I loved the characters and how the story unfolds. This book follows Bailey and her marines, who are her security because of who her father is. Wolf, Kip, and Jas. Each of them has their own relationship with Bailey, which grows as the book progresses. They are possessive from the start over Bailey. Another great read.

Wow another one bites the dust

This book was amazing!!! I love that Jas had to fight his attraction to Bailey but didn't even realize he was being grouchy to do it. Who doesn't love a strong grouchy man? Then you have Kip who is the opposite of Jas and makes everything happy. Finally, you have Wolfe to tie them all together for a perfect couple with Bailey in the mix. This book couldln't have been written better!!!

Trope: Military Reverse Harem

This is my first military reverse harem by Cathleen and Frank and in Baileys words Holy… wow… 🥵 I loved all 3 men Wolfe, Jas, and Kip and would not have been able to pick between them because although they were all different there was also something about each men that made you fall in love and together they were everything you would want in a RH. It was the perfect mix of spice and story line and the antagonist was not someone I expected until the end and wow was that a shock. I don’t know what took me so long to read the Soldiers of Misfortune series but I will definitely be going back to read the first two. Since they are stand-alone there is no need to read in order. I can not wait to read Cat’s story in Kept by the Agents because my eyes are already on Suave.

Love story

This was a refreshing love story. Bailey life needed a bright light as she was forced to spend the summer with her controlling, unloving father and Wolfe, Jasper and Kip were that. They were drawn to her beauty and loving heart and when she was in danger they swore to find and protect her for forever. These three Marine just made me swoon.

Another good book in the Soldiers of Misfortune series. I absolutely loved our mfc Bailey!! She’s a strong female that manages to escape a kidnapping and stick up for herself, what she believes in and her harem!! I did knock off a star because I was going for more spice and sexy times but with all the action I can see why there wasn’t that much Action! Lol
