Bronte Security Services #2

SEAL's Fake Girlfriend

Rate this book
Danger and desire go hand in hand…

When her little sister Robyn is kidnapped, Rhianne Carlson promises herself she’ll do anything to bring her home safely. Even if it means reluctantly teaming up with private security agent and former Navy SEAL Eric Cruz.

Despite his smoldering good looks and undeniable talents, Rhianne has never trusted this sinfully sexy agent. And she definitely doesn’t like his plan to pretend to be a decadent couple, in order to lure out the organized crime syndicate who’s taken Robyn. Eric’s taking his role way too seriously. All that touching and kissing. It’s enough to drive a girl mad…with lust.

Eric has always admired Rhianne. And now that they’re working together, he finds his admiration turning into something more. They’re getting way too good at pretending to be a couple. Their kisses seem all too real. But the danger they’re in is real too. And even though he knows Rhianne can handle herself, he can’t help feeling protective of her.

Can they fight for their lives, while also fighting off their mutual attraction? And if they manage to survive, does their growing love have a chance?

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing a free copy in exchange of an honest review. So I was expecting Eric to be with Sofia’s friend in book 1. Also the plot was interesting but it felt short. The FMC was also kinda rash and not thinking straight so that made me annoyed.

Rhianna is close to her family so when they needed her she gave up her job with the Coast Guard to work for local law enforcement. When her sister is missing, she believes it wasn’t by choice despite what others may think so she approaches Bronte Security for help.

Eric is a former Navy SEAL who is now part of Bronte Security. He has been attracted to Rhianna for a while and is more than happy to help her with her investigation despite her attempts to keep him at a distance. As the danger escalates so does the chemistry between them but will they be able to rescue her sister and escape with their lives?

Rhianna and Eric are very different both when it comes to their personalities and their emotions but there is no denying that they make perfect partners both at work and in life.

For the sake of her sister, Eric and Rhianne have to work together and act as a couple. It will take trust, determination and planning to rescue her sister from the Cartel who lured and kidnapped her. Eric and Rhianne have worked together before and his flippant manner is more than she can take when she thinks of the danger her sister is in. But Eric and the team at Bronte Security Services take the situation seriously and make a feasible plan to rescue her sister. Trust comes hard for Rhianne as she trusted someone before and was betrayed and though she works with a team herself in search and rescue, this is not a regular rescue operation. This is very personal and everything in her is telling her that time is running out for her sister. Acting as a married couple is hard at first until it’s not, as attraction sparks and unexpected feelings are burgeoning. Eric has never known what being part of a family feels like unless you count his team and colleagues, his best friends and brothers in all but blood. His feelings for Rhianne catch him by surprise, but then everything about her is more than he expected. Can he rescue her sister and claim Rhianne’s heart too?

This book is fast-paced, with a gritty story line to go along with the romance. Rhianne and Eric seem to be an unlikely couple at first, until it becomes clear that they actually have a lot in common and complement each other well. I would recommend this book to all who love some danger and suspense with their romance. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Book two in the series brings Rhianne and Eric's story. It's an entertaining story with Rhi hiring Eric to rescue her sister who's been kidnapped. The author pulls you in with all the action and suspense as well as the romance. It's well written with descriptive scenes, moves fluidly and is a great read.

This is book two of the Bronte Security Services series and the main characters are Rhianne Carlson, who now works in the San Diego Sheriff’ Department’s Search and Rescue team and is former Coast Guard, and Eric Cruz, former Navy SEAL and now one of three men who head Bronte Security Services, along with his comrades in arms and friends Charlie and Ian. She left the Coast Guard to help with her younger sister Robyn, who went off the rails after their father died and Rhianne had left home. But now her sister had gone missing, when she was supposed to have met up with Rhianne. Even the local sheriff’s department she works for didn’t take it too seriously, as Robyn had a history of running away when she was younger. She arrives at Bronte Security’s offices, hoping to see Charlie, who she knows from her time with the Coast Guard, but has to try and get past their determined gate keeper receptionist! Charlie calls in Eric, someone Rhianne doesn’t trust, having only seen his flippant side before, but once he is on a mission, he puts on his game face. Robyn disappeared with her phone, so no one knows who she was meeting earlier that day, but thankfully, Rhianne managed to grab her laptop from her mother’s home.
Eric uses his skills to access the laptop and they find a suspicious email inviting Robyn to an interview, but tracking her phone’s current location leads them out to somewhere there is no likelihood of an interview site. She has been taken from there by a vehicle and her phone discarded and the email address soon sees them looking at a Mexican cartel and people trafficking of young women, from all over the area. They find out on the darker side of the web that there are secret auctions going on, where these girls are being sold off to wealthy couples and singletons. Eric and Rhianne are going to go down and play at being a wealthy and decadent couple looking for a girl to clean for them. Others want the girls for more seedy reasons, some to feed their husband’s alternative appetites, so they don’t have to themselves. The people they meet are not exactly first timers at this sort of deal either. Rhianne is finding it difficult to follow Eric’s lead and to take things slowly, as they try to get invited to the next auction by this dangerous organised crime syndicate. Eric has always admired how strong a person Rhianne was when they met before and working so closely to her has made other feelings grow. She had started by flinching every time he tried to touch her, as they pretended to be a couple and now it seems they are both falling for the other for real.
Maybe it was a way of blowing the stress of the situation they find themselves in, but Rhianne keeps chomping at the bit and gets impatient with Eric and doesn’t want to trust him. She doesn’t know what Eric, Charlie and Ian have concocted behind the scenes and there are a lot more dangers to be found at the cartel stronghold, that make the plan to escape with Robyn, that much harder than first imagined. Eric knows that Rhianne can handle herself in dangerous situations, but when it involves her little sister, her motions are getting the better of her. When she finally blows the plot, it all comes down to her not trusting Eric, but mainly because of her past relationships and damage from them. He also has his own issues, never having had a family of his own, until her joined the military. They are left having to rethink their plans and fight their way through the mid-level cartel boss and his forces, in an effort to get Robyn and try to save all the other young girls that were about to be trafficked into a nightmare. Their mutual attraction may not quite survive the lack of trust and the possible loss of her sister. They are having to fight for their lives and place themselves into the centre of the enemy’s stronghold, making themselves targets for the boss and come at him and his men from all sides! If they survive, it looks like their strong attraction may not be enough, but Ian has a few wise words for him, having gone through his own problems when he connected with Sofia. Another exciting and dangerous job for the Bronte Security Services team, as they team up to save the sister of someone they worked with in the past! One more member to find their perfect match and I can’t wait to see who they find. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Leslie North has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Rhianne and Eric. Rhianne's sister, Robyn has been missing for two days and the local police are not concerned since from her record they think she has just taken off for a few days. Rhianne knows this is not the case. She goes to see Charlie, a friend who now owns Bronte Security Services. She tells him what is going on and he tells her that he will help her. He calls in Eric to take her case. Rhianne had worked with Charlie and Eric when they were all in the military. Her in the Coast Guard and Charlie and Eric were Navy Seals. At first, the meeting with Eric doesn't go well and she walks out of his office. She was talked into going back in and Eric apologized to her for what he had said. Charlie has found some information and tells Rhianne that it is going to be hard for her to hear. He said that the email address that was used with Robyn has come up a few times in connection to getting young girls to come for job interviews and were never seen again. Charlie brings in Ian to give her more information. Now they are coming up with a plan to go and look for Robyn. The plan is for Rhianne and Eric to pretend to be married and to go to Tijuana and try to get into the auction. Rhianne is not one to wait and she thinks that Eric is not doing enough to find Robyn. When they get invited to Arturo's compound for the weekend and the auction. Again Rhianne doesn't want to wait on finding Robyn but Eric tells her that they need to wait since they are the only ones there without backup. On the night of the auction, Rhianne hears one of the bidders say something about Robyn and she goes nuts. This causes the plan to go down the drain and Eric has to get Rhianne and himself out of there alive. Rhianne says some nasty things to Eric and he says some things to Rhianne. She tells him that they are over. They were just starting to become close. What Rhianne didn't know was that Eric had backup in Charlie and Ian. Eric gets Rhianne out but has to leave Robyn and this upsets Rhianne. Charlie and Ian are there to get them away from the compound and somewhere safe for the moment. It takes a little while for Rhianne to realize that what she said to Eric was not true. When Charlie talks to her, he tells her that Eric knew what he was doing and he had her back but she didn't trust Eric to know what he was doing. Rhianne knows that she needs to talk to Eric but she just doesn't know what to say to him just then. They come up with a new plan to get Robyn and the other girls out. Things don't go as planned and Eric has to go back to his seal days when Arturo holds a gun to Robyn's head while he is talking to Rhianne.
Can Rhianne and the team get the girls out safely?
Can Rhianne and Eric work things out between them and get back together?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

SEAL’s Fake Girlfriend continues the Bronte Security Services trilogy with a tense situation between Rhianne and Eric who seem to annoy each other from their first meeting. While they know each other from working together back in their military days, they don’t really understand each other as they have totally different opinions on life and family – which is going to create some major issues between them now. Rhianne left the Coast Guard when her mother and sister needed her to be more present in their lives and although she’s working with the local police as a Search and Rescue officer those who should have trusted her instincts about her missing sister simply brushed off her concerns because of Robyn’s history. Now she’s turned to Charlie, and his new security operation for help in finding her missing sister… and ends up in a situation that she has little to no control over, and that rankles her already on edge emotions, big time.

When the only way to track and rescue Robyn is to pose as a married couple then the flames start to ignite between them. Rhianne instinctively wants to rush in, Eric knows the way to save Robyn is a plan with backup in place. Their arguments over this will escalate to the point that neither is really listening to the other, in spite of the passionate relationship they’ve begun. And that fact just might end this mission, and relationship disastrously for everyone.

The villain here is particularly vile and it was quite easy to loathe him on sight, let alone his actions throughout the story.

I enjoyed SEAL’s Fake Girlfriend even though Rhianne was not my favorite character in this story. I tried to put myself in her shoes, but her lack of trust issues and the way she went rogue on Eric simply didn’t endear her to me. And, to be fair, Eric has a chip on his shoulder that could rival a boulder about family interactions, and it shows. Frankly, this wasn’t my favorite couple of this series yet aside from that, what they faced in this situation kept me glued to the pages and getting over my discomfort with them rather quickly.

If you love a story with high heat between the couple, a very dangerous situation, and complete opposites finding a compromise, eventually, then SEAL’s Fake Girlfriend is a perfect match for you.

Rihanne knew something was wrong when her sister Robyn did show up or call. Her mother brushed it off as Robyn running away. Rihanne felt something was wrong. She came to Charlie and Brontë security for help. Charlie listen to all she had to say and assigned her to Eric. She was not the mood for his jokes. He asked questions and she got pissed off. Charlie talked her down. Rihanne and Eric went undercover as a married couple to find Rihanne’s sister in Mexico. They found so much more. They went to this bar and was asking around. They got invited to a club owned by the cartel. The owner invited them to his resort. Doing undercover work they found the compound and was looking around when a bus load of girls pulled up. These girls were going to be used in the auction. When they went the next day they met other couples attending the auction. They had activities planned before the auction. Eric and Rihanne started getting closer the fake couple was turning to so much more. Both had their own issues but they seem to work through them. Everything was going according to plan until the day of auction. Rihanne was getting impatient. Eric told her to be cool. Arturo had rules to the auction none of they women were allowed to bid only the men. The men were allowed to go up to the stage and inspect the girls. Robyn came on stage and Rihanne lost it. She blew their cover and a gun fight broke out. She kept trying to get to her sister but Eric held her back so she wouldn’t get killed. Rihanne didn’t care. The rest of the Brontë team was outside dismantling the compound. Rihanne called him all kinds of names and was pissed she didn’t get her sister. This book was deep. Rihanne was not use to depending on anyone and didn’t listen. Eric had a plan and she was mad she was not told what the plan was. Charlie had a conversation with her. Eric was hurt and upset. He was thinking clearly and Ian talked to him. These are perfect for each other. They have issues but when together they are stronger. Amazing story. It’s sad but human trafficking is real.

The guys of Bronte Security Services are on a case again this time for a friend, they once worked with as SEALS in a joint action with the Coast Guard. Rhianne goes to Charlie with the concern that her 16 year old sister, Robyn was missing. No one else would believe her, since Robyn had gone through a rough patch before Rhianne left the Coast Guard and came home to help control her behavior. Eric was assigned to help Rhianne, which she was not happy about. She knows he has the ability to do the job, but he just rubbed her the wrong way. Finally, they got down to business, and Rhianne had the foresight to bring Robyn's computer which Eric had the ability to hack his way into learning she had a job interview. To learn anything about the interview, they needed Robyn's phone which Rhianne remembers she can track from her phone. They take off to find the place where the phone was pinging while Charlie checked the web address out. They located Robyn's phone in the middle of nowhere. Charlie discovered the address was connected to some other young girls disappearances that had been associated with human trafficking. There was to be an auction in a few days across the border where Eric and Rhianne were headed to pose as a married couple looking for domestic help. In the beginning she could not stand his touch, but all to soon she was begging for his touch. The longer they played a couple the tougher it would be to leave the other one behind. Going undercover was not for the weak of mind to see how the criminals as well as the buyers treated these girls. Life to them was expendable. Action plentiful and danger always on the horizon, this was a muscle clenching read if there ever was one from being to end.

When Rhianna Carlson's younger sister Robyn disappeared no one would believe that anything was wrong, Robyn had been a wild child and had disappeared before but Rhianna had given up her job with the coast guard to look after Robyn, she had steered her back on track and she was looking forward to starting college, because of her past the police weren't interested but Rhianna's gut told her that something was wrong.
Rhianna turned to Charles Bronte, Charlie had worked with Rhianna when she worked for the coast guard alongside Charlie and his navy SEAL team, Charlie had since left the navy and, along with his team, had set up Bronte Security Service.
Rhianna was delighted that Charlie believed her instinct but dismayed when he put Eric Cruz on the job. Eric's striking appearance made him attractive to Rhianna but she didn't like him, he was loud and obnoxious but Rhianna would take any help that she could get, even if she fake a relationship with someone that she couldn't stand.
This story unfolds to show that things were even worse than Rhianna had imagined, she began to see Eric in a different light, he was good at his job and Rhianna was drawn more to him, the chemistry was rising until........was Eric to blame for things going pear shaped, Rhianna thought so and she now despised him. Eric had never let himself get close to a woman before and Rhianna had hurt him, he couldn't understand Rhianna losing her head when it came to fighting for her sister, he hadn't had a family to compare with but Eric was a protector, he would protect Rhianna and her sister even if Rhianna had unfairly accused him. This is a lovely romantic story with a very dark background.

This book give me the perfect summer holiday vibes.
The story is set in a resort with villas, spas, bungalows and swimming pool ... too bad it's run by human traffickers.
Rhianne and Eric are not on vacation but rather play the part of an undercover married couple to save Rhianna's sister, kidnapped by traffickers.
Obviously at the beginning Rihanne can't stand Eric and there is the one bed trope (a great classic 😂)

This is the second book of the Bronte Security Servicies Series and can be read as stand alone. In fact I haven’t read the first one and I had no problems understanding the plot.
The story is interesting, I’ve finished it in two sittings

It’s not the most original book, which is why it deserved three stars but to read on the beach it is perfect!

**********************

Rhianne needs to find her sister after she disappears. She approaches Bronte Security for help only to be teamed up with Eric Cruz. She doesn't have a positive opinion of him from the time they spent together years earlier so she's not excited to be working with him.

I think that this story picking up where the prior story left off was good. I thought the harebrained rescue at the end was fun even if it was ridiculous and hard to believe.

I had a lot of trouble believing this story. Once Rhianne and Eric identify the human trafficking ring and infiltrate it, I struggled with the story. I do not like Rhianne at all. In my opinion, her attitude and actions can not be redeemed. I understand Eric not sharing every little thought in his head with her but once she shows her hand that she is reactive and doesn't trust him, he needed to change the operation immediately. I wanted Charles Bronte to give them both a dressing down for their actions.

I recommend reading this series in order since the bad guys are all interconnected. This is a contemporary romance with a little intrigue and excitement. I will read the next book in the series because I am interested in seeing how it ties in with the prior two stories.

Action and emotion packed
The SEAL’s Fake Girlfriend (Bronte Security Services Book 2) by Leslie North brings the former SEAL, Eric Cruz and former Coast Guard officer, Rhianne together for a highly important and personal rescue mission. As a member of the Sheriff’s Department’s Search and Rescue, Rhianne should know all about trusting your partner.
Despite their rocky start, Rhianne and Eric do work well together. Working well together develops into giving in to their physical attraction amidst the emotional turbulence and dangerous circumstances as they locate Rhianne’s sister. But all is not well, trust in the plan as well as communication fails and these two find themselves in serious hot water. Not only with the mission, but with each other.
Overall, this is an action-packed romance with edge of your seat suspense nearly non-stop. The added element of Eric and Rhiane’s romance on the skids creates some high-strung emotional fall out that is eventually overcome. Never fear, the mission is successful and a happy ending in its own right with Eric and Rhianne find their way back to each other for their HEA too.

I really enjoyed this book about two opposites attracted to each other with there fighting the attraction between them. Rhianne Carlson is ex military and now works for the local police and has just found out her sister Robyn has been kidnapped and she asks her friend Charles for help who gets his friend Eric who works for Bronte security services and agrees to help but Rhianne is not happy about having to work with the Eric the sexy and sinful man that drives her crazy and did so many years ago in the military. Eric Cruz is ex military and works for Bronte Security services and when his best friend asks for his help he happily agrees and when he learns it’s for Rhianne he is all in because I could be the second chance to get close to the gorgeous woman that got away. They find out that a crime syndicate organization has kidnapped Robyn and that they must pose as a couple to infiltrate the ring but with any undercover operation you must act the part but what happens when looking fake turns real and desires are acted upon. Do they save Robyn in time and what happens now can they have a future together or do they go the separate ways.

Rhianne met Charlie and Eric on an assignment when she was with Coast Guard. When her mother and little sister needed her, she left the job she loved and stayed close home with local police force search and rescue team. Now her little sister has disappeared. Her local police force won’t take her seriously. She has no choice but to go to Charlie, who is a former Navy SEAL and now running his private security firm with his SEAL buddies. Eric is assigned to her case. She thinks Eric is a handsome player who doesn’t take things seriously. She is wrong. Eric is the best at what he does. Eric always admires Rhianne and now he has a chance to get to know her better. They go undercover as a couple to approach a Mexican human trafficker ring. I real like Eric. He keeps cool under pressure and set his sight on saving lives. Rhianne, on the other hand, loses her heads when she sees her sister on the auction platform. Their lack of communication and misunderstanding almost cost people’s lives. The story is action packed, and intertwined with friends/family and hot romance. It is a very entertaining page-turner. I enjoy it.

Bronte Security Services book two continues in the same thrilling, nail-biting, relevant storyline as book one. You just can’t put it down! Eric is a big strong former SEAL working now as an agent for Bronte Security. In this assignment, he will be working with a partner, Rhianne. She WAS with the Coast Guard so she does have some training but still, she is mostly a civilian… and to make matters even worse they are trying to find HER missing little sister, Robyn. The team pulls out all the stops to find Robyn and it looks like Robyn has been kidnapped and may go up for auction in Tijuana?? Someone has to go undercover. Eric and Rhianne are both strong-willed and frequently butt heads but Rhianne has the added disadvantage of being emotionally involved which sometimes messes up with the rescue.
This story is filled with strong characters both good and totally evil. Eric and Rhianne are damaged from rotten childhoods but form a bond and I think it’s going to be a happy life for them. I received a free advanced copy of this story from Booksprout. I am leaving my review of the story because I review everything. Linda

Rhianne works for the police, but when her younger sister go missing and they don't take her concerns seriously she turns to her ex colleague's security, ex SEALS protection business for help. Eric is assigned to work with her a he promises to find and rescue Robyn. Their uncover routine takes them into serious consideration with trafficking and auction of young women. Not nice people to be around or to pretend to be like. Rhianne's impatience and lack of control at the auction puts everyone in danger, including her sister and the security colleagues.
Eventually things do come right and alls well that end well.
I liked the characters, the setting and build up to the rescue. There was drama and it is well written. The only thing I did not like at times was Rhianne's impatience ,her decisions and her lack of realisation how she impacted on things, especially as her background should have had her acting without being so impulsive. Her behaviour and attitude was irritating when associated with her lack of trust, notbto mention jeopardising the whole mission.

Rhianne and Eric are thrown together on a case when her little sister is kidnapped. Eric has always admired and desired Rhianne, but she has never trusted him. She is even more unhappy with the plan he comes up with to catch whoever took her sister.

Eric comes up with the plan to pose as a couple to draw out the crime syndicate who took Robyn. The problem? Rhianne thinks Eric is taking his role too seriously. The kisses. The touches. Their undeniable chemistry. It’s making her want things with him she has never wanted before. She tries to keep him at arms length but Eric has other plans. He wants to be the man for her. He wants her to realise they are meant to be together.

But as things heat up for them in their relationship, the danger they’re in is all too real. Logically, he knows Rhianne can handle herself, but he wants to be the man she leans on. He wants to protect the woman he is quickly falling for. Will they be able to survive the danger heading straight for them, as well as protect their already fragile relationship? Will Rhianne open her heart and take a leap into what could be the best thing to ever happen to her?

SEAL’s Fake Girlfriend is book two of Bronte Security Services series. Rhianne and Eric’s story. A military suspense with off the chart chemistry between two unlikely characters, the story is completely non-stop action dealing with cartel, female trafficking, kidnapping, murder. Rhianne’s sister Robyn has been taken by the cartel, Rhianne and Eric are posing as a married couple to infiltrate the compound where Robyn and other young women are being held in order to make this highly dangerous mission work the most important task before both of them is TRUST and unfortunately due to their pasts that is the one area they both have issue’s with. The author knows exactly how from the first word right up to the very last word how to keep us the reader enthralled and turning pages to find out what happens next and to keep sitting on the edge of our chair wondering what’s happening? I Really enjoyed Rhianne and Eric’s story, If you like this genre and storyline I have no doubt you will enjoy as well. I am looking forward to Charlie’s story. There’s a lot of emotional turmoil in this book and it makes for a dramatic and angsty read. I loved Eric right from the start. He hasn’t had an easy life and that made my marshmallow heart immediately reach out to him. Rhianne is very self-contained which made it more difficult for me to connect with her. I was also left stomping around in frustration with her couple of ‘too stupid to live’ moments, but I did really appreciate that we saw her reflect on the mistakes she made during the first of those moments. I loved the way this pair brought out the best in each other; they were able to be open, vulnerable, and trusting. I hated when their connection went sideways, but I think the author did a very good job of explaining it so I could sympathize with why it happened. It also meant I was heavily invested in seeing them get everything straightened back out again in the end. Now, I’m more curious than ever to see what the next book in the series will bring.

Seal’s Fake Girlfriend is the 2nd book of Bronte Security Services. The team has to deal with another Cartel member trying to move up in ranks. This time the team work to save young females from human trafficking.

Rhianne Carlson left the coast guard to be closer to her sister. Her mother continues to give her grief for leaving the family to join the coast guard. When her sister, Robyn, goes missing, Rhianne reaches out to Bronte Security Services for help. Her attempts to go through other legal channels to locate her sister prove disheartening.

Eric Cruz is a retired Seal. He joined his former teammates in working for Bronte Security Services. He enjoys his work. When he is given the assignment to work with Rhianne, he is happy to get a chance to work together again. They share the same goal to save Robyn and the other kidnapped girls. Their first attempt proves challenging both strategically and emotionally.

We are back with the members of Bronte Security Services. All former Navy SEALs who are determined to help those in need.
This time the story belongs to Eric Cruz. A man who seems happy go lucky , but whose childhood and past, leaves him not trusting anyone can truly love him for whom he is.
That all might change when Rhianne Carlson, former Coast Guard helicopter pilot and now working for the local search and rescue , needs their help in finding her younger sister Robyn.
Though these two seem at odds, Eric and Rhianne go undercover in order to find Robyn. She and other girls have been abducted with the goal of selling them.
What happens when things go haywire? Will they be able to save Robyn and the girls? Will Eric and Rhianne take a chance on love?
This was another engaging story filled with bad guys, good hunky ones and a strong female character.

This is the second book in Bronte Security Services series. I almost stopped reading the story around chapter 17 and it was all because of the actions of the female lead. How stupid is she - a former coast guard who now did search and rescue fails to follow orders and completely puts the mission at risk and then blames her partner instead of recognizing that whatever happened was solely a result of her actions. I know the scene was written to be move the plot in a certain direction, but it was irritating. Since this is fiction, I decided it was worth finishing the story since the author does write well and can really tell a tale. In my opinion, by the end of the story the female lead hadn't really redeemed herself and I felt the male lead could do better and this colored my perception of the story. The story does contain violence and scenes with human trafficking.

I think Eric's character was Ok. I liked him in the first chapter. It seemed to me that once he was paired up with Rhianne, all of the fun, spark, and life seemed to disappear. I felt like he spent his time walking on eggshells because of her behavior.

I don't understand why so many female main characters have to be so unlikable. Rhianne was one of those fmc's. She had a problem with Eric from the beginning. I was kind of surprised at her behavior having been in the Coast Guard. I understood that it was her sister at risk, but I would think she would defer to the people with the expertise.

There was a nice amount of action, danger, and suspense. The romance didn't do much for me. I think this would have been a much better read for me had Rhianne not been so off putting.

When Rhianne’s sister Robyn goes missing, everyone believes she has just run away like she did when she was younger, so she turns to Charlie, an ex-SEAL and member of Bronte Security. She has worked with them before but when she is told Eric will be on the case with her, she is not happy. She doesn’t trust his constant happiness and especially after she has been let down many times.
Eric is determined to get Robyn back for her sister and when they get a lead, they have to go undercover as a couple, but soon the attraction is all too real.
Both Rhianne and Eric have a past to overcome and a need to be accepted, this causes problems and misunderstandings which they have to suck up and deal with before they can stand even a chance at happiness.
Absolutely loved the interaction between these two and the suspense in this story.
Next is Charlie’s story, can’t wait!

Rhianne's sister is missing, she goes to her friend Charlie who is part of a security company and also an ex SEAL hoping his company can help her.
She ends up being put together with another member of the team, Eric, who Rhianne has never gotten along with.
They find evidence of where her sister may be, among a cartel who deal in human trafficking. They pose as a married couple looking to hire some help to get them into the auction and spending time together lets their attraction to each other build. But when Rhianne doesnt follow the plan during the auction after seeing her sister, she causes a rift with Eric as its looks like she doesn't trust him and his plan. Have they lost their chance to save her sister and the other women at the compound. Will Rhianne be able to prove to Eric that she does trust him.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend reading it.

Faking it until it becomes REAL! This is about Eric and Rhianne. They have known each other in the past as she was Coastie Girl (Coast Guard), and he was a SEAL. Now she needs her friend, who is like a brother, Charles Bronte from Bronte Security, to help her out. Her little sister, who is getting her life back in order, has disappeared, and the police are not taking it seriously. She knows in her gut that something bad has happened. Of course, Bronte Security will take this on, and Eric is now assigned to it. The question is, can these two work together as she has major trust issues. Eric has always been fond of her but thought she was way out of his league; well, now is the chance of a lifetime, and he is going to take it. Love this couple, although it is still a toss-up with Ian and Sophia! Now I can’t wait for Charles to get his match-up!.

The Compound.
Fantastic book. Eric and Rhianne are going undercover as couple to rescue her sister from Cartel traffickers. Their rouse becomes too real and they get more involved in each other during the mission. Once they get the attention of the man running the show it puts them in danger that they have to play out now. When Rhianne sees her sister about to be sold she blows their covers. Everything goes wrong and Eric barely gets the two of them out alive with the help of the rest of the crew. Rhianne is furious with him that they left her sister behind and breaks up with Eric. When she is almost kidnapped the team makes a plan to take down the operation. Rhianne and her sister end up caught in the crosshairs. When the bullets stop flying there’s still a couple relationships to be fixed. Beware of Internet scams.

This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed the interaction between Rhianne and Eric. There is so much action and suspense in this book. Rhianne was in the Coast Guard with Charlie and Eric. Now as a member of the Sheriff’s department, she seeks help from Charlie. Her sister is missing and Charlie believes her and wants to help her. Charlie puts Eric on the case.
Rhianne is hesitant to work with Eric but Charlie believes in him. Rhianne reluctantly works with Eric. Both have issues that definitely need to be worked out. They pose as a married couple and lines blur.
This author can draw you into the book with what seems like little to no effort. I truly appreciate her talent.
