He’s playing the ultimate game. And he’s playing it with every female around him.
He's only supposed to use her to create a stir.
But her scent capitivates him. She’s just so tempting to tease. One taste is definitely not enough.
Then she goes into heat and his plans go up in flames.
He longs to bite her.
Claim her.
Keep her.
But he’s shown her he can’t be trusted. And now the little human is slipping from his grasp. And his tricks are coming back to bite him.
Malik is a full length romance with a guaranteed HEA and no cliffhangers. It can be read as a stand alone. If you like feline aliens who are big pussy cats for their ladies, this series is for you.

Listeeeeen!!! This is what we wanna hear from our bookboyfriend and fictional mate and Malik delivered it. 💣💥🔥
“I want you to tell me all the dirty things you’d like me to do to you first.” ... "Sweet, my goal is to make you come harder than you’ve ever come. I’m going to make you come so hard you can’t scream my name cause you’ve forgotten the word.”
" Any other naughty little fantasies you want to share?... I want to hear them all." -Malik
See this is why book boyfriend do it better!!! ------- I've met Farrokh, Amir and Hesam and they're all howt! 🥵. To be honest I do admire Amir BUT Malik has my heart for now😁; and Charlise? I'm so proud of her, of how her confidence grows and her achievement.
The world-building, characters, and originality make this a must read romance! ***** Rating: 5 stars Steam: 3 flames Genre/Tropes: Alien/Sci-Fi Romance, Fated Mates, Heat, Steamy ***** Malik was the gladiator with the most "meet and greets," if you catch my drift (wink wink). He's a player, never staying with a woman for longer than it takes for them both to have pleasure. That is, until an attack occurs, forcing the Ardun males to protect the human females, and he smells Charlise.
Charlise was outstanding. She is strong and intelligent , but she was duped and betrayed by a previous lover’s lies and manipulations. She vows never to be duped again. I felt an instant connection to Charli, and as the story progressed, I developed a bond with her.
As they escape the chaos in the city and work their way to the palace, their relationship starts to develop, however, they have secrets and baggage to work through if they have any hope of a future.
I truly enjoyed the journey these two took me on.
Want to know what my favorite aspect of this book/series is? The women do not have to change who they are because an MMC has entered their lives. They do not have to give up their aspirations in order for the MMC to have his. She is his fantasy. It's important to me that the characters stay true to themselves; and the FMCs in Ami Wright's series do just that.
This series gets my recommendations and I will definitely keep reading!
🔥 “I’m going to make you come so hard you can’t scream my name cause you’ve forgotten the word.” ~~~ I loved Charlise so much! She’s kind, sweet, feisty and really smart. But she’s also shy, very self-conscious and crowds terrify her. She doesn’t have a good track with men, especially handsome ones. So, she’s determined not to let some pretty guy walk all over her again, especially a cocky Ardun guard.
Malik is one of the winners of the Gladiator games and a future Royal guard. And he’s such a smug tomcat! Malik is brazen, confident and irresistibly charming. But there is more to him than his flirtations facade. Malik is one really wonderful male - strong, brave, caring, fierce and protective. And he’s a lot smarter than he appears. I just adored him so much!
The development of Charlise and Malik’s relationship was magnificent! Malik wants to create a scandal, the fame bringing him credits to help his father’s failing business. So, he chooses a shy human to be his target. Well, he definitely bites more than he can chew. And from the moment they met, their attraction was undeniable. But Malik really had to work to convince Charlise that they belong together and prove to her that he’s worthy to be her mate. Even more, I loved that he was honorable to admit all the wrongs he’s done and willing to work earning Charlise’s forgiveness. Those two were amazing together and such a perfect match. I loved that both could be their true selves with each other and their banters and teasing were such fun to read. And I was so happy how Malik was so supportive of Charlise’s career. Moreover, the spice was absolutely spectacular! The passionate moments Charlise and Malik shared were off-the-charts hot - chasing, knotting, biting… Oh, all the yummy goodness!
In addition, the storyline was fantastic! I enjoy reading about ancient history, so I really loved that we got to explore ancient Ardun ruins and be part of the unexpected discoveries that were made! And I also really liked Malik’s father - what a wonderful and quirky male!
Overall, the story is another marvellous addition to the series! It’s filled with action, suspense, humor, scorching hot romance and amazing characters.
I absolutely loved it and cannot wait to see what happens next!
Charlise is a very sweet and lovely person but she hasn't made the best choices in the past when it comes to men. She allowed herself to be swept up and was very hurt with how the relationship ended. She has sworn never to do that again and has gone to have some quality time with her very best friends but then everything goes wrong and she is suddenly in the care of a devastingly charming Ardun male. All her resolutions not to be a fool again were made before she met Malik. He falls into her handsome lothario category which should have all manner of flashing lights and warning signs assigned to it but there is something about him that she just cannot resist. Malik for his part has a very strict agenda that he is working to. Nothing has been done with extreme calculation behind it and all to achieve a specific end. He was, however, totally unprepared for the arrival of Charlise. At first he thought that she would be a wonderful way to while away the hours until he needed to return her to the palace but the more time that he spent with her the more he realised that he wanted far more than that. This was something that absolutely terrified him so he acted impulsively and pushed her away. What he couldn't know is that this would have far reaching consequences. Would he be willing to fight for her when the time came? Would she want him to?
The return to this series is most appreciated. The original dangerous situation leads to different paths for each of the friends. Because of a previous disastrous relationship, Chalise has retreated into herself. She occasionally makes herself go out with her girlfriends or give a lecture but she is happiest away from crowds and noise and all alone. Malik entered the games fully expecting not to win, but to create great interest in him so he can make credits. He wants to save his dad's business. A very honorable male that has catlike features, mannerisms, a very interesting tail and purrs- just for Charlise. Malik rescued Charlise from danger, and overwhelming noise from the crowds. While they are near each other, she goes into heat and he goes into rut. Now he just needs to convince her he wants her and not because of the rut. "There was no plan, no games, no tricks. Only the feelings, huge and all consuming" I loved watching their relationship grow and our author knows just the right words and phrases to lead you through her scenes. Had to take a break and a few deep breathes to try to cool down my imagination. OMG. the world building is great with descriptions of pyramids, the statue by the pool, mysteries, suspense and Ardun history that fills out this world. 5* is not enough.
“He hadn’t felt this floored by a simple kiss in years.”
Ah, Malik. The ultimate Ardun male: charming, confident, handsome. He was everything he promised to be based on the glimpses in the earlier books and yet so much more. To be honest I was less interested in him than any of the other gladiators because I couldn’t see there being much story there. Well, I admit it now, I was wrong. There is so much more to him than a dazzling smile.
I really enjoyed watching the Ardun playboy (playcat?) fall for sweet, beautiful, brilliant Charli, the last woman I would have paired him with. Suddenly Mr Confidence is tripping over his words, doing everything wrong and desperate to claim and keep the one female who he was shocked to discover truly means something to him. I truly wanted things to work out for the best for them both.
Next up is Sattar and at first I was disappointed to hear as I’m most looking forward to Ikkad and Anya. But then weeks ago Ami sent out a sample of Sattar in one of her newsletters and got me interested. Then, at the end of Malik she includes a sneak peek and now I’m excited. He and Natlea are looking to be an intriguing match. I can hardly wait for the October release!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A really sweet and hot little read. When I read the preview for Malik at the end of Hesam's book I knew he was going to be a flirty and frisky Tom cat, but I was not expecting his other side and I loved it. Give me a scholarly bad boy anytime. I also appreciated that both Malik and Charlise we're open and communicated and built each up when they were feeling vulnerable. They were perfect for each other.
There is some slight OW drama in the book, but it's resolved fairly quickly and occurs mostly off-page.
I loved this book! Great world building and wonderful characters. Malik definitely charmed his way into my heart. He's confident, flirtatious, caring, honest, honorable, supportive, and kind. What began as a stunt turned into so much more. Charlise was so sweet and I really felt a connection with her. She and Malik had such amazing chemistry even from the start. I also loved seeing some of the ancient history of Arden. Overall a fun, steamy read. This is my favorite book in the series so far. 5 stars.
I was the editor for this wonderful creative and thoughtful (and hot) scifi romance from Ami Wright. Cat hybrid gladiator (entertainment) rescues human woman from chaos. I loved the intellectual subplot to this one. Those Egyptian-influenced ruins... so cool. Set in the same universe as Wright's The Lost Romans series, this focuses on political upheaval on the planet Ardun. And cat-men who will purr for the right mate. And rip apart anyone else.
I enjoyed the subplot but I could not find a single thing to justify this romance. Malik is not a good guy. He would never have chosen to change. He was physiologically compelled and it had nothing to do with Charli as a person. Big ick from him and it made me think less of the FMC that she would touch him with a ten foot pole. Next book will probably be more my speed.
Not good enough to recommend. Found myself skim reading through several parts. Dislike the insta-love angle and it wasn’t done as well in this book as it was in the first books. It begins to feel as though her FMC are just waiting for someone to accept and worship them and that’s good enough. But it’s not good enough for me so it’s hard to accept.
What an entertaining story, it's full of action and betrayal. The characters are great. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a Free ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
He was teasing the women around him but it is about to bite him on the bum when he meets her. She is now in heat and she pushes him away even though he wanted her so much. Will she ever trust him? Will he break through her walls? How will it all end? Follow them to see where this tale will take you
While danger separates the two main characters from their friends, it also pulls them closer together. The heat between quickly approaches scorching, but trust is such a fragile thing that can easily tear them apart.
Charlise has been rescued by Malik and now they are on the run. Charlise is a professor of ancient history so when Malik takes her to his father's site...Enjoy
Malik, the male feline humanoid gladiator lead, entered the games to generate publicity for his father’s debt-ridden business. He initially plans to use Charlise, the female human lead, as a foil to generate additional interest. Then he realises he’s desperately attracted to the shy female, and that she’s going into heat, which is sending him into rut. Now he needs to convince her he’s sincere, not just playing with her, though he’s convinced she’s way too smart for him.
This story is dual POV, well written, and a great erotic addition to this series. I really enjoyed how the relationship developed and how Malik had to genuinely work to convince Charlise of his interest. I appreciated how Charlise was willing to work on her debilitating fear of crowds. The character and relationship development was significant, and I genuinely felt the pain of both characters at various points. I appreciated the integration of secondary characters, especially Charlise’s friends, that helped build the world the characters were in. I also enjoyed the continuation of the overarching plot - whilst the romance stands alone, the background is enhanced by having read previous stories in the series. And I definitely enjoyed the intimate, erotic scenes between the lead characters. I also appreciated the banter and chuckled at the culture clash and negotiations between characters around what acceptable behaviour in various settings. The fact that Malik actively supported Charlise’s career made me very happy.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
Malik, the Ardun of mystery! He might be a silly and graceful cat but this story will show you just how awesome he really is.
This story takes place at the same time as book 1 and 2 and, let me tell you, thinking these things are occurring at the same time is mind blowing!! And the little lady will not disappoint either.
This book is part of a series that is worth reading completely. Each book has information that aids in understanding their universe/world and how Andur (cat people) society works and their biology.
