This was an ARC from Netgalley and I thank the author and publisher for providing this advanced review copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily. This was a cute (short) collection of stories following the patron saints of grandparents, Norrit and Hale, as they take up the mantle of "private eyes". This was cute and it was short and I don't have much else to say. Check it out for yourself in December...or don't. I wasn't blown away (by this or the first collection of stories)...both were equally as non-sensical so I can't really tell you which I liked better...but this gets 3 stars...

Cozy Fantasy • Short Stories

A big thank you to NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for this ARC.

Another short, cute read from R.S. Kellogg continuing the adventures of Norris and Hale. This was a creative way to continue their adventures as the patron saints of grandparents by becoming adoptive grandpas to a curious young boy who solves mysteries. Just like the first volume, it only took an hour or two to read all five stories included in this book. These stories would be perfect for a younger age group and would make for fun bedtime stories. Short, sweet, and cozy.

This sequel was a really enjoyable return to Norrit and Hale, and I ended up liking it even more than the first book.

The same lovable cast is back, and the cozy, feel-good vibe is still very much here. This book is warm, low-stakes, and comforting. This time, instead of a set of adventure tales, the story follows the characters as they solve mysteries to help a local boy in the town where they’re vacationing in. That shift in structure worked really well for me and kept the book feeling fresh.

One of my biggest takeaways is that this installment felt far less repetitive. The first book had some recurring descriptions that started to feel a bit recycled from story to story, but this sequel moved more smoothly and didn’t lean as heavily on repeating the same details. Because of that, it was an easier, more satisfying read overall.

The only thing I was a little disappointed by was how little we saw of the patron saint of grandmothers. After the last book, I was really looking forward to getting to know her better, so I missed her presence here.

Overall, if you’re looking for a cozy, low-stakes mystery with a sweet tone and lovable characters, this sequel is a great pick. And, for me, an improvement on the first.

Thank you to Xpresso Book Tours for this digital ARC!

This sequel was a really enjoyable return to Norritt and Hale, and I actually ended up liking it more than the first book. The same lovable cast is back, and the cozy, feel-good vibe is very much intact. Warm, low-stakes, and comforting.
This time, instead of a collection of adventure tales, the story follows the characters as they solve small mysteries to help a local boy while on vacation. That structural shift worked really well for me and kept the book feeling fresh.
I also found this installment far less repetitive than the first. The earlier book had some descriptions that started to feel recycled, but this sequel moved more smoothly and didn't lean on the same phrases. That made it an easier, more satisfying read overall.
My only real disappointment was how little we saw of the patron saint of grandmothers. After the last book, I was really looking forward to getting to know her better, so her absence was felt.
All that said, this was still a cute, short collection. Neither this nor the first book blew me away, both were equally nonsensical at times, so I can't firmly say one is better than the other. But if you're looking for a sweet, low-stakes mystery with lovable characters, this sequel is a solid pick.
A big thank you to NetGalley, Xpresso Book Tours, and R.S. Kellogg for providing me with a copy of this eARC!

A very cute book about two patron saints of grandparents, Norrit and Hale. This is Book 2 of a series but it is a stand-alone book. I did not read the first one and it was not necessary (though I will now go back and read 1!) Norrit and Hale take a much-needed vacation. In order to not get too bored just getting R&R, they are offered a chance to help someone. The someone is a cute 12-year-old boy Fariin who is a detective solving mysteries. He wants to solicit their help and they oblige. What follows are several shorter stories of their escapades. It reads very well as it is apparent this author has supreme talent in writing engaging content. It is pretty apparent, the way it reads, this writer is a master at creating stories that entertain and engage the reader.
I found the characters quite likeable and the read just a nice break from the chaotic world we live in. This is a feel-good book with a calm underlying voice that underscores the simplicity of life and mysteries that will not leave you with nightmares or unresolved lose ends!

Thank you to Netgalley and Xpresso Book Tours for the ARC.

This collection of short stories are short, cosy and cute. Perfect for light reading with a bit of mystery. This was my first reading about Norrit and Hale and it does work as a standalone, but could also help to make sure you ready collection 1.

All the main characters in this book and very likeable.

Available in Dec 2026, don't miss it.

Thanks to NetGalley for a free copy for review.

Another delightful collection of stories about the patron saints of grandparents.

This time, Norrit and Hale are on holiday, when they meet a 12 year old private detective who asks for their help. N and H oblige, and this book tells the tales of their adventures whilst on their holiday.

Cosy, cute and endearing.

I didn’t read the first book, but this still worked for me as a collection of cute and quick stories! The characters were lovable, and the little mysteries made it an easy and fun read. Great for young detectives or if you’re in the mood for a light read.

There is cozy and then there is juvenile. These stories are like stuff I read in sixth grade. Read it to your grand kids.

I received a digital ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.com.

Another good book from R.S. Kellogg. Love the Adventures and mystery solving that Norritt and Hale find themselves getting into.
