Having curly hair and being mixed race myself, it always amazes how little I know about my own hair type. So I have loved this quick read in the history of Afro haircare and fashion around the world.

Although illustrated and written for teens and older primary school age children, this book is a great read for anyone looking to know more about the history of Afro textured hair. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a bitesize history background to Afro hair fashion and the development of the Afro hair industry around the world, but especially in the UK.

4 stars is an average of my rating (3 stars) and my 9-year-old daughter’s (5 stars). Beautiful little book - love the colours and illustrations (though wish there were more!). Think this is a really nice, more basic but engaging story for kids to begin learning about Afro hair styles throughout history.
