Return To Wolf Creek #1

Claimed By The Alpha Pack

Rate this book
When you hear hoofbeats, think of horses not zebras. That’s what our mayor said after a series of bloody attacks rattle the citizens of our otherwise quiet town of Widow’s Peak. My fiancé is a deputy and they are all firmly behind the Mayor’s claim that there’s a pack of feral wolves who have settled on the outskirts of town. The police say they’ve got it under control and given how much Hunter was working, I believed them. Until the fateful night I was up comforting our colicky baby and he stumbled home with his clothes in bloody tatters. His eyes were glowing faintly in the moonlight, and my breath caught in my chest when it hit me. Hunter is the monster. It took me months to plan an escape for the baby and I, but somehow, we managed to make it out alive without him tracking us down. I knew we would need a refuge so we didn’t have to stay on the run forever, but I didn’t know it would be the small mountainside town of Moon Creek where I grew up. My grandmother welcomes us with open arms and before long, we are safely settled in my grandfather’s old hunting cabin, but she makes me promise to heed her warnings if I’m going to stay. Her words echo in my head as I fall asleep every Hang silver on the door. Don’t leave your house on a full moon. Whatever you do, stay away from the Murphy boys—they’re animals.

I think this may totally be a me thing but the starting storyline was making me kind of too anxious to keep reading.

The FL is in an abusive relationship with her fiancé and just had a child. She calls her grandma who organizes a detailed plan to get her out, things are set up and in line, her relationship is getting worse and worse, but she's just not ready to leave yet. I get it...and I know she obviously does get out...but yeah it made me anxious.

description

Also, the mate story line was a little strange. Her mother moved her away so she would never know about werewolves-but the grandmother and all of her mates know about her possibly being their mate (but some just don't believe she's their true mate?) They still go to meetings year after year to find a mate and grow increasingly messed up over it-but still never pursue the FL or try find her just incase? ...I dunno.

description

Also reading some reviews to see if I should push through -made me call it quits. Mostly because I don't like when there is an established relationship (ie. the brother's and the relationship with their male omega) and then adding another lover in the mix. It also looks like the FL is the brother's fated mate but maybe not the omegas? And that he get's left out at some point? (don't quote me on that)

Obviously won't rate this because I'm DNFing but also because I'm not 100% where the relationship drama starts and ends (feel free to LMK) But for sure check it out if other review's make it sound interesting--this is just my DNF thoughts.

Contradicting plot and inconsistencies for plot, history, names and characters.

These guys all know they have a mate, saw the vision in the pool but just didn’t believe it?

They know where she is but still take an omega and become manwhores because?…..there’s never a good reason given for staying away from their mate. Instead they watch her have a baby with someone else. Oh and even though he’s an alpha he doesn’t have a knot but her mates do?(bc she doesn’t know what one is).

Then we find out later the heroine and one of the manhores bonded through blood as kids…so technically he shouldn’t have wanted another female.

None of the story makes any sense. There’s one contradiction after another and they keep coming through the series. Also I really dislike favorites in the harem.

“Barrett is phenomenal, but he’s no Grace. I can’t wait until I can make love to my mate again. For now, Barrett will have to do.” Poor Barrett the packs Omega

3.5⭐️’s…

I felt disjointed while reading this. It jumped around. Timing was off and I just felt like it was choppy. The plot was good but not executed in a good concise way.

Grace has a fiancé that’s a rogue wolf(that she doesn’t know about) and has a baby by him. We get a few months of her preparing to leave him and go back to her original hometown where her grandmother still lives.

Then we get a fast forward of her going to her grandmas and then meeting her fated mates that are wolves. 3 alpha triplets or are they twins with an older brother? I don’t know it was so confusing in their description. Conrad, Griffin, Ethan and their already established relationship with an omega male named Barrett know that Grace is their fated mate and have known for supposedly 20yrs. They become manwhores during this time because she moved as a child with her mom across the state and didn’t bother to find her as an adult. (Yeah that didn’t make sense) So there is slight OW drama but Grace becomes a badass she wolf supposedly over night after an attack by her rogue ex. It left her torn to bits at deaths door, so she gets bitten by one of her fated mates to save her life, turns into a wolf from the bite and fights to the death with one of the OW very shortly after her transition.

I’m sorry but this just fell flat for me overall. I enjoyed some parts and skimmed over the parts that dragged on.

I will try to read the next book hoping for a different pacing, less time and sentence choppiness.

Apparently I read this author’s Aurora Marlup series last year and had similar issues with her writing. She is going on my no fly list.

Edited to say I love anything and everything wolf shifter and also loved the promise of what this book could have been. The execution was poor.
I feel at times there is a disconnect bt what the author was trying to express and how it ended up on paper.
That being said, I paid for the series and will keep it and read it.
I am hopeful it gets better. I know she based this a bit off of her current or past situations and maybe being too close to them emotionally affected how she wrote her story? Anyhoo

Poly harem MMMMF ✅

Harem is triplets and a male omega in an established relationship prior to having fmc✅

Single mom fmc w a baby from another wolf✅

KU but I purchased story✅

Ok so. This book feels disjointed at times. Characters aren’t fully fleshed out. Sex is not sexy.

Even the MM at times feels sad. Like it is written as if they are using this poor dude for sexual release. Maybe it was meant to be that way? Idk. Because there is no relationship building happening to help us see what is there. At one point they are all together w this dude but then later on Conrad and the male omega have more of the relationship? Whuuuuttt??

I honest to g-d stopped reading so many times and said what the actual f. It could have used a good beta reader or two before being published or sent to ARC readers.

At some point we learn the three alphas are triplets but not before hearing twins used several times over. Author didn’t really explain any of that so who knows wth is going on there. Twins and a single baby??? Does the author understand birthing triplets that unless two are from the same egg they are all just triplets? Which would mean identical twins and a baby but they are still triplets. You cannot have fraternal twins but also have triplets. You don’t hear how the twins look exactly alike. You don’t get a ton of features described. It’s weird.

And one triplet talks wistfully about a “Maggie” then a few paragraphs later calls her “Maddie”. But then same dude had a Roxy. Then a Leah. Ok. He’s a manwhore but why even mention Maddie or Maggie? Why have four random females mentioned in the story but then fmc only fights one and the other one helped to get her kidnapped? It was written as if the names were set up to then be in the next scene.

We get a POV chap by fmc’s gram which was cute. But then we have the fmc growing up being told by her gram to avoid the Murphy boys and wear silver? Gram is warning her off of these men but then gram herself was mated to a wolf from the same boys pack and are sons of the Luna??? Then grams KNOWS they boys are her fated mates? Again. None of this makes sense.

So much in this book is off kilter and reads poorly. Poor transitions from one scene to another. Characters feel flat and one dimensional. Roxy is one example. Just your regular old mean whore bag ready to knock off anyone who tries to take her not her man, man. 🥴🤦🏻‍♀️

Fmc makes a 180 from being an abused fiancé to a leader and she wolf Luna after one bite? Make it make sense. It was like a switch turned and boom-she is a leader, an alpha and fights. And she had like 2 hours of training but now all of a sudden she can fight anyone and everyone bc she is a moon wolf??

Whuuuttt???

I think as this author writes and grows her ability to be more nuanced will grow too. She has a lot of good ideas but they either get lost or shoved in and the reader isn’t ready for them or understands. Sometimes things need to be spoon fed along. Even more seasoned authors can fail. But I think this book has a good heart to it. Just needs major edits to tie things together more neatly and flesh out characters better. But as I mentioned previously, this is my second time attempting to read her work (last year) and I think having seen no change in the quality of her work, I will be passing on her books moving forward.

I loved the way Serenity Rayne build this book from the ground on up. These characters where something🥵🍆💦 hihihihi.
I loved the way it’s not all revealed in this book. Love the characters and world building. I liked Grace a lot as a Fmc and also liked Ethan a lot. I loved the plots twists a lot. And can’t Waite to read book 2 of this series!!

This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed the plot of this book!

Grace is a single mother to a daughter who is ultimately the love of her life. When her boyfriend, Hunter starts acting weird after their daughters birth, red flags come popping about out of no where. Soon, Grace is afraid for her and her daughters life. When Grace discovers, all the stories she's read about wolfs and shifters are true, she runs to her Grandmas when she finds out Hunter is one of those "monsters."

Now back to where Grace grew up when she was young, she is faced with the boys she left behind. Battling feelings she's not sure what to do about, she once again comes to a new realization that things aren't always what they seem. Soon a new relationship forms and she quickly finds out not all the "monsters" are bad.

Fast forward and she is the new Luna of the pack with not one, but four mates. She is now faced with more than she ever thought possible. Rogue wolves are attacking and a new war is on the horizon. The end leaves you reeling when she finds out she has yet another mate.

------------
I honestly, genuinely, loved the story line. I hated the FMC and how scared of wolves she was in the beginning to being all nonchalant about it to a few guys she barely remembers from her adolescent years. She also seemed so docile and weak in the beginning but then became a bada$$ warrior overnight, fighting and leading people to a victory during war. I felt like there was no lead up to it, it just all of a sudden was.

IDK. I really am not trying to dis the author or anything, I just thought the execution of it all needed a little work. I will be reading book two and look forward to continuing with that ending.

*Overall 3/5
*Heat? 2/5
*Multiple first person POV
*MMFMM Romance, leaving it open to add more.
*Ends on cliffhanger

I am hoping I have time to read another book so this isn't the last book of the year for me. Spoilers I guess?

First off, this needed an editor more than any other book I have ever read. Misspelled words, random nom deleted sentences, names being changed, and scenes jumping from one place to another and not being coherent ruined any possibility of this being a good book. The potential was there and then was thrown out the window. It made it impossible to care about character development, and I almost stopped reading it multiple times.

We don't have any of the major scenes in a POV that gives us a real look into the story. All major events are retold to us through one of the mates including her transition to being a wolf, which seems like it would've made sense to have a first hand account from her.

This book was also on super fast forward and did not make a ton of sense. We skip a ton of build up and just throw everyone into a middle of the story rather than doing any of the leg work to make you care about the story.

Lastly. I didn't feel connected to anyone because this book just did not make connections but I was really annoyed with her picking Ethan and being whiny about it when getting married. They are all equal right? So why did it matter so much. How shitty did you make Griffin feel about that? I disliked that more than I can explain.

Overall, I'm mad at myself for spending the time needed to read this book.

So it was rough but it kept me interested to keep reading to know where it was gonna go. It was kind of all over the place with the things happening and got kinda repetitive!

The biggest ick I had was that she called one of the Alpha Wolf’s “Wolfie” and the omega male wolf “cutie”… A LOT…. And I truly HATED IT!

A great start to a new series. There is some great world building that the author does throughout this 1st book. Grace has a difficult backstory that is following and affecting her constantly. The men have been unraveling until her arrival. Having Grace return rekindled the mate bonds. There is some well written character development and storyline. The cliffhanger leaves me wanting more.

This book is a why choose paranormal romance. They’re a content warning at the begging of the book so if you have any triggers please make sure to check this out before you start reading. So glad this book has a playlist along with it as well. Another great thing is this has been done in MPOVS which I love. The police say they have everything under control when a pack of feral wolves settle outside the FMC town of Widows Peak. But everything was far from under control. The FMC only realised this when her fiancé Hunter stumbled home with his clothes ripped to shreds and covers in blood. His eyes were also glowing in the moonlight. That is when she realised that he is the monster. After that point she started planning her and her child’s escape which took her months but when she finally did, she found her self back where she grew up in Moon Creek. She is welcomed with open arms from her grandmother but is given a warning and must stick to it. Always hang silver on your door, never go out on a full moon and stay away from the Murphy boys. Dam what a book I really can’t wait for the next one to come out I just couldn’t put it down from start to finish, it was that good I read it within a day.

At the risk of being mean but at the need to be blunt, this book was bad. Like, Bad. The plot was all over the place and full of holes, the characters were boring and annoying, and the writing is in some serious need of editing. If this author would like to continue writing, I definitely recommend taking some lessons or classes on English grammar and editing. There were run-on sentences and fragments galore. Words misspelled, the wrong word used, etc. etc.

It’s one thing to write for fun, but seeing as this was published with the intent to make a profit, there needs to be a level of accountability and effort put into the writing.

And y’all that’s not even touching the surface on the horrendous, near violent misogyny this book holds. I don’t have the mental capacity to delve into that mess. Just know that if you’re looking for a book with a “strong female character” and “LGBTQIA+ representation”, then pick a different book.

2.5*

I struggled to rate this as a lot things were choppy and disjointed, fast paced and yet this story had great potential.

Few questions I need answering are;

why was grandma so insistent on hanging silver on the door (it’s not like the wolves would harm her, especially after their mother told the Pack to stay away from her)

She also mentioned about staying away from the Murphy brothers? It says that the boys told her grandpa that she was their mate when they were young kids and he was happy they were together so why does grandma now tell her to stay away from her fated mates?

Are the brothers triplets or twins and a younger brother? Or are they two identical and one fraternal? The mixture of using ‘the twins’ and ‘the triplets’ annoyed me so much as it was never clear what the hell was going on.

It was really shitty of them to basically leave Barrett out in the cold once Grace arrived. The author made if feel like she was only the Alphas mates and not Barrett’s and he was only there was a substitute for her during those years. There is a moment they speak about them making it up to Barrett but we never see it.

WHY THROW ANOTHER MATE IN AT THE END?? it seems unnecessary and we don’t even know who it is, is it someone we have previously met? This is meant to be older characters but sometimes they act like teenagers.

I feel like Grace does Griffin dirty so much by her much stronger love for Ethan. I know it’s explained because she he turned her but seriously she should love all her mates equally. I feel bad for the other brothers as she clearly would choose to just be with Ethan if she could. I thought Griffin was a bit of a dickhead at first but honestly I feel like Grace is the biggest dickhead.

Poor Barrett, he has endured so much and yet gets the least attention and his omega status really should put him on a higher pedestal.

I don’t think I want to read the next book and as it isn’t coming out for another year I’ll likely forget what has happened but I won’t read the book again to recap so I don’t really know what to say.

Honestly, this has a great amount of potential, but fell flat in MANY places.

Serenity Rayne's newest series, Return to Wolf Creek, kicks off with the first book, Claimed by the Alpha Pack. What a read this one was. The mfc is learning she has more power than she thought, the alphas have a touch-her-and-die vibe, the sweetest male omega in existence is present, tight family bonds, abusive ex, mean girls, and crazy amounts of action. I didn't know what was gonna happen next.

The mfc Grace, started off in an abusive relationship, and while I wouldn't have made the choices she did I understand the fear and anxiety Grace found herself in. I'm just so glad that she found her courage and continued to grow throughout the book. Grace excepts things pretty well considering her past. By the end, Grace has grown into a strong (emotionally, mentally, and physically) capable woman who stands on her own two feet but isn't afraid to find happiness in her new life.

Alpha triplets plus the cutest omega equals one hot pack. Grace is a lucky gal, being mated to all four of them. Barrett is the omega and he is just the sweetest thing, I can't help but love him. He's pretty calm and very open to Grace. There's no jealousy just an understanding that a poly-relationship is gonna take work. The twins. Griffin, is the head alpha, a very serious and responsible leader. He has some communication issues to work on. While Ethan is a bad boy with a temper who only has a soft for his mate. Ethan was struggling the most without a mate and was kinda going crazy but his reactions to Grace are the most adorable. Finally, there's Conrad whose personality is somewhere in between the twins and Barrett's. Conrad can be harsh if needed but he's pretty much a cute cinnamon roll. Grace brings about a lot of changes in the guys, all for the better.

I really enjoyed delving into Serenity's wolf-shifter culture. In this world mate bonds are a sacred thing if they don't find them they will go insane. If they do find mange to find their other half the bond is so strong one will follow the other into death. Now that's a serious bond. There talks of Lunas and rogues, and the Moon Goddess along with her chosen Moon Touched. Serenity has a lot of interesting tidbits that she can either expand upon or use to take the story in several different directions.

Claimed by the Alpha Pack was a marvelous read, low on the angst but high on drama. It was fantastic. At the end, Serenity drops a nice little surprise on readers and then ran away. Ugh! Now I have to wait until the next book to see how that little bomb develops and I can't wait.

DNF 28%

The other books in this series have high reviews so I thought maybe people were just being harsh on this first one. They weren't. Would like to preface this review by saying I read A LOT of RH/why-choose fantasy, I get the genre is kitschy and campy.

This book needed an editor to come in big time. Lots of continuity errors as well as grammatical ones. However, I was willing to try to ignore that since the premise was interesting but holy choppiness. Somehow all the guys but Barrett were against her being home, but then in their POV's they magically were already smitten. Ethan was supposed to be nearly feral but none of that came across. At least not in the quarter I read. Seems weird that it would develop more though.

Having Barrett be an omega could've been interesting, however there was no actual love shown. The Alphas (brothers) just used him as an omega body. Three written smut scenes between Barrett and the other guys, but no actual intimacy beyond a head kiss. It just seems weird to throw that in the mix to basically write him as lesser?

My breaking point is just how unbelievable it reads. Not talking about the shifter aspect or any of the fantasy stuff, but rather the emotional side. The FMC, Grace, leaves an abusive relationship and then is 100% fine the very next chapter. The most it's talked about is "I need to date me for a while." Then she is flirting with guys, literally kissing strangers on the cheeks and mouth, and getting into a bar brawl with the stereotypical catty girl. She is also completely okay with leaving her 6 month old baby all the time, even bringing her out with her to meet a wolf just because a virtual stranger said its okay.

Not to yuck anyones yum, but this just wasn't it.

"Claimed By The Alpha Pack" is the start of a new wolf shifter reverse harem series, with the fmc starting off as a human woman without knowledge of the true existence of werewolves. Even though she does have an interesting link to the world of paranormal romance, it takes her a little while to find out about shifters, and her own connection to a pack of werewolves. I enjoyed the storyline, with a young mother trying to flee from her cruel fiancee, and how this ultimately leads her back to the boys she left behind many years ago...

Even though I think the storyline is quite interesting, I did have a hard time connecting to the characters in this series, and I'm still not sure if I'm fully grasping all of their different personalities at the moment. That's not the case for all of them; I really like Ethan and Barrett, and their characters are quite clear to me. However, I do feel like she needs to connect a little more with Griffin and Conrad to really understand them and their dynamics. Not all relationships are developing at the same pace, and I hope the author will pay attention to the relationship development with the other men in the next book. Grace evolves a lot throughout this book, and I guess this has to do with the evolution in connecting with her wolf, but I would have liked this to have been explained a little more instead of simply assumed.

That being said, I do love the storyline and I absolutely adored the plot twist at the end! I can't wait to see what this will mean for Grace and her harem in book two.

For being a why-choose "with poly elements" it lacked a sense of queerness that makes other polyam why-chooses work. I love why-choose books and I am polyamorous. I also love werewolves and shifters and power dynamics. Unfortunately this entire book so far has given me a vibe that the author has included just enough "gayness" to be considered queer without any queer feelings to support it. Werewolves and alpha/beta/omega dynamics often do include commentary on bioessentialism by having characters that are queer in their gender or sexuality or both. However the only commentary this book offered was that males are men and females are women except for the occasional omega man who seems to fit all the stereotypes of a "sissy." I just couldn't get into it. Everything rubbed me the wrong way. They even disrespect Barrett plenty and he seems to internalize that he matters less as an Omega, which just isn't a vibe that I can get behind. It feels almost as abusive as the abuser the FMC has fled from.

It might be for somebody, but that person isn't me and there are better options that celebrate queerness instead of having queerness to fill a quota that feels heavily stereotyped and nearly fetishistic. I couldn't get past that sense of unease. I am sure the author didn't intend for this to be the case, so no hate, but I simply couldn't push myself to read more.

I cannot recommend this book for most queer people.

Grace is trapped in a terrible, abusive relationship. She is terrified of what her fiancée – a dangerous man who’s also a deputy - could do to her and her baby and wants to escape back to her hometown. She hasn’t been back there since she was a child, when her mother got spooked by something and took Grace away. Grace’s memories of her time spent in Widow’s Peak are vague and/or missing entirely, but she knows she can’t live a life on the run with her daughter.

Grace’s grandmother helps her plan an escape, with the help of some of the locals; several of whom happen to be very invested in Grace’s safe return.

Without hopefully spoiling anything: when Grace was taken from Widow’s Peak by her mom, she left behind some friends – who might just be more important to Grace than she knows, assuming she even remembers them. But who are these men, and do they mean Grace & her daughter are safe – or did they just go from one dangerous situation to another?

Please note the trigger warnings for the book.
I enjoyed the story a lot, and I’m really looking forward to seeing Grace continue to grow & develop as she processes her trauma and continues to regain her self-confidence & strength.

I am excited to see where her relationships go with her pack, and learn more about the world they live in!

A Promising Start with Room for Improvement

Rating :⭐⭐⭐

Heat Level: 🔥🔥

I recently delved into Serenity Rayne's world with "Claimed by the Alpha Pack," the first installment in the Return to Wolf Creek series. As a newcomer to both the series and the author's work, I found the story enjoyable, earning it 3 stars. However, it left me yearning for more depth. The narrative lacked crucial details, making certain character actions confusing. For instance, a character would grab a mug only to suddenly be seated and facing another character, leaving me perplexed. Moreover, the constant mention of twins while the principal males are triplets caused some confusion.

Despite these shortcomings, the storyline held significant potential. The synopsis hints at a gripping plot centered around a small town, feral wolves, and a protagonist discovering her fiancé's monstrous secret. The narrative sets a captivating stage, but the execution fell short due to a lack of intricate details and occasional confusion in character actions and relationships.

In summary, "Claimed by the Alpha Pack" is a decent start to the series, but it could benefit from more thorough writing to fully unlock its potential.

Why Choose PNR. Amazing plot. Shifters. Drama. Lost-love reunited. Knotting. This book has everything you could ask for.

Our FMC was taken from her soul mates at a young age by her parents who were trying to keep her out of the shifter world and away from her wolfie mates. Years later, girl meets guy. Settles down. Gets pregnant. Once he finds out the baby is a girl everything changes. He changes. Turns out he’s a feral wolf, a rogue. He wanted a son to try and keep sane, when that didn’t happen he goes on a rampage and tries to force her to bare him a son.

She gets ahold of grandma, who still lives where she grew up and had a wolf mate herself, who helps get her out of there. Back in her hometown she runs into the boys she left behind…. Her true mates. Three alphas and an male omega. They fight for her, protect her and her baby as their own… They have to get through some ups and downs I won’t mention as to not spoil it, but it definitely keeps you on your toes! There is MM in the book with the alphas and their omega, and gosh are those scenes hot. I loved this book and highly recommend it!

I voluntarily reviewed "CLAIMED BY THE ALPHA PACK" I thoroughly enjoyed this start to this amazing new series full of heartbreak, danger, angst, secrets, betrayal, steam, suspense, intrigue, abusive ex-fiance, action, twists that has you turning the pages.
Grace's fiance Hunter is deputy in small town of Widows Peak where there have been brutal attacks, the Mayor says things are under control but when Hunters comes home covered in blood she fears for her & Ashina her baby girls life & gets the help of her grandmother up return to her old town of Widows Creek.
Grace finds she mated to four great men, Barrett an Omega, Griffin head Alpha his twin Ethan is headstrong & then theres Conrad all have different personalities & so happy she returned & are so good with Ashina.
I definitely recommend to get this riviting paranormal romance Grace & her men take you quite the journey, learning about Werewolves & her connection to the Pack it's a must read you don't want to miss.
I can't wait for "Embraced By The Alpha Pack" next up see what's going to happen especially after that cliffhanger.

Distinctive, special and captivating, this tale takes you on the journey which is difficult to leave ...

Introducing Grace a strong yet fearful mama who escapes back home to wolf creek. Where, unbeknownst to her legends aren't really just that and her mates are waiting. Mates who are missing their one, for differing reasons.

Introducing Ethan, Barrett, Griffin and Conrad...not necessarily in that order. These mates are more than meets the eye but the one thing they do hold is unique attributes which make up the whole, whilst all being equally protective, possessive, caring and of course hot.

The character and relationship development is deep and the pace is exactly right. The side characters add equal doses of laughter, anger / frustration and more to create this whole new world to get lost in .

As situations start to unfold the pack needs to face new dramas and old nemesis whilst learning who they all are as a pack and where they all fit.... A truly breathtaking shifter romance...and the best part? This is only book one!! Roll on more from Wolf Creek

This was my first time reading one of this author's books and it will definitely not be the last. I CANNOT WAIT FOR BOOK 2! The last chapter left me swooning, but the last page WOW, I need more.
If you are a lover of the single parent trope then you need to read this book. I loved Grace and how she chose the difficult path for herself and Ashina. Although this book is paranormal, Grace is relatable and her ability to handle obstacles that comes her way is something I could really admire. The triplets, Ethan, Griffin and Conrad all have different qualities that makes you fall in love with them. The thing I love most though is how they treat Grace and her daughter. I will say Ethan holds a special place in my heart alongside Barrett. Barrett is the sweetness that softens these alphas, and I love the bond they all have with each other, as well as a group and individually with Grace. I Cannot wait for the next book, I'll definitely be following this author for any details on book 2. Thoroughly enjoyed!

3.5 stars round to 4

Overall this was a good story. I relate so much to the relationship the FMC was in prior to meeting the wolves. The thought behind this story is great. Wolves are one of my favorites, I do look forward to seeing more in this world.

The very beginning was great. I really felt for the FMC. The go bag, the preparations for getting out, the fear level of being caught. All of that added up and made sense. The FMC started out very strong.

The story just felt really rushed to me. There didn't seem to be a ton of character development and everything just happened really fast. The characters were just sort of blah for me. There wasn't much depth to them, all just surface level stuff.

Even with a mate bond, I feel the relationships were all super rushed. There were a few inconsistencies with the story as well.

I would love to see all of these things corrected in the next book. Sometimes the second book brings more, so I hope that is what happens with this story.

Counting down the days until the next book releases 💃

Ahhh an author who writes abuse reapectfully and has people actually believe the FMC and stand up for her. So refreshing! Honestly I loved how Grace started picking up on the subtleties and was like “I gots to get outta here with my baby nowww”. She skedaddled so fast 👏🏻👏🏻.

The men were great 🥰. Brothers who loved, supported and communicated with each other and with Grace. No jealousy between them. A++ for not going down that common sinkhole.

I do have to say there were some slow moments that I felt could have been removed without affecting the plot or character development while helping the pacing. Also I’m always iffy on when there’s a new partner introduced to the relationship super late/next book because I feel like either said partner doesn’t feel as compatible/connected emotionally to the FMC or the other men in the harem get pushed to the back and forgotten. But I’m not saying that will happen, I’m still excited to see how this goes!

Great new series!

I really enjoyed this book! Years ago when she was 5, Grace found out who her mates would be but was moved away by her parents. Now years later, she's forgotten all about it and living with a man who is becoming more and more abusive since she gave him a daughter instead of a son. Her grandma helps her get out of the situation but not before she saw him shift. Now she's back in her original hometown and all sorts of weird things start occurring. She's reconnected with two of her childhood friends, Barrett and Conrad, and finds out that she is fated to not only those two but Conrad's two other brothers. The triplets and Barrett try their best to woo her but her ex is determined to find her and her daughter.
When he does find her, he hurts her so bad she nearly dies, but thankfully Ethan is able to change her into a wolf too. She's not just a wolf though but moon touched and now the Luna of the pack.

The rogues aren't done and they have to gain as many other packs together in order to fight.

Loved this! I cant wait to see what happens next!

Going back home

Eating 3.5

This one had it's ups and downs for me. Absolutely loved the premise of the book and really enjoyed it until past the middle part closer to the end.

After running from her ex and getting involved with childhood loves/friends Conrad, Griffin, Ethan and Barrett who knows that she is their mate, the guys have to find a way to introduce them to the fact that they are shifters. This part and the beginning of their relationships development was great. The downfall for me was when the character just changed quickly overnight. I can get how being bitten can change you, but she went from super scared to leading them in the blink of an eye. Towards the end the dialogue between the characters seemed stale and like they were saying exactly what they should in the moment instead of being authentic to the character. Ex. When Barrett was expressing that he felt left out or a lack of attention.

I still enjoyed the book based on the beginning and the relationship build up, despite the bumps.

First half was awesome! Pacing was great, story line was great, etc… then second half when she moves in with her mates, it just gets weird. They say don’t rush her into bonding then literally the next page is her bonding. All the action was way rushed at 75%. It’s like the author kept going ‘I want this to happen’ then halfway through changing their mind saying ‘I now want this to happen with the characters’. Nothing sequences right. The baby girl was pretty much an after thought when she was a big party of the story line before. Details are very muddled.

If she had kept going at the pace from the first half and ended the book with the attack on her, I would have read book 2 to see if she was alive. Instead she went from dead to alive miraculously. Then suddenly she’s a powerful Luna who can tell when someone is attaching with absolutely no feelings. No feeling for pain, no adrenaline, no nothing. Basically this is where the author changed from bring us into a story to just telling us about a story that happened.

Another in a list of disappointing stuff your Kindle day picks. You get what you pay for, friends.

I can see how this book would be a very cathartic exercise for someone going through a terrible time in her life. Otherwise, I don't see much value in the book itself.

The MC feels like a shell of a person in much of the book. The characters do things that make zero sense. If your ex is a vicious serial killer and is on the hunt for you and your infant daughter, it is an excellent time to just run off to work in a bar leaving your daughter in the care of virtual strangers even though you don't need the money...

The writing belies a lack of understanding of basic English sentence structure, replete with missing verbs and unfinished clauses. At one point the MC is explaining facts about the guy she is talking to like he wouldn't already know these things about himself.

Ultimately, this felt like reading a first draft. If that doesn't bother you, you'll enjoy this book.
