Two hot Gargoyles. One serial killer. And the worst case of being hard up you've ever seen.

No, I'm not hot for the criminal, just the two Gargoyles I have to work with to catch him.

One of these guys broke my heart twelve years ago. The other is my partner with the Supernatural Branch of the Seattle PD. Both should be off limits but my body isn’t getting the message.

When the three of us go undercover at a local ‘den of iniquity’ to catch the killer, all the lines get blurred. Now I’m on the brink of falling for not one, but two growly Gargoyles.

If this goes sideways, getting carved up by a Jack the Ripper copycat will be the least of my worries.

Warning: Bound is a standalone monster romance. It has a Daddy Dom Gargoyle, a cinnamon roll sub Gargoyle, ‘fun’ with food, fights that turn into something else, and a chilling murder mystery. It is intended for mature audiences. CW include: death of a parent in the past, stalking in the past, abuse by a partner in the past, graphic crime scenes. This book has much darker themes than previous books in the series. Please consider this before reading.

Devil’s Temptation is her first straight up romance and is the first book in her Celestial Superheroes Series. She writes Urban Fantasy under T.L. Heinrich because there are just too many stories in her brain for one pen name.

Bound was my first work by Trish Heinrich, but definitely not my last.

Stella is a Mundane Human on the Supernatural division of the Seattle Police Department. Together with her partner, half Gargoyle Isaac, they are tasked to investigate a series of murders taking place at an "adult" club. Stella has a long history with this club, but a complicated piece of that comes in the form of James, her full Gargoyle ex boyfriend. These murders may be linked to a magical artifact he is after and the three of them are forced to team up to stop the murders.

+ Badass Woman in a Male Dominated Field
+ BDSM Dynamics
+ MMF Poly Relationship
+ Mysterious Magical Artifacts
+ Copycat Murders

Stella is tough, and she has to be to be taken seriously in her role, but I love the vulnerable side we see with her as the three of them come together. I'll admit, I didn't want James anywhere near her or Isaac the sweet cinnamon roll, but when their tension built and eventually exploded, my reservations about him were gone. All three of them bring something to the dynamic that is vital and I don't see how they would work without one of them. The way that their relationship evolved in the bedroom was a delight and incredibly hot.

The mystery and action were fantastic. I love that it was connected to Jack the Ripper. The scenes were incredibly graphic, so do mind that if you like your mysteries a little less intense. Trish does an amazing job with the world build and I am definitely looking forward to reading Feral now and seeing what little connections and easter eggs I might have missed reading this as a "standalone."

Yes yes yes

Okay ya'll. Grab a cup of coffee and settle in, because we're going in deep.

Let's start off by saying I loved the previous book in this series, Feral, but it was a slowburn and those do something unmentionable to my soul. I was expecting the same, and I braced myself for it.

For no reason. This was not slow at all.

It was fast paced, from the very start. Minor spoiler/trigger, from the very get go, there is alcohol as a coping mechanism. It is not consistent throughout the book, mentioned a few times, but it won't take away from it. Stella is a Mundane or a human, however you want to put it. She had the spunk and sass and a genuine don't mess with me vibe and I adored her. Throw in her work partner, Issac who is half Gargoyle and the tension is there, the heat is rising.

And then comes James. A blast from the past for Stella who has his eyes on both Issac and Stella... and also a job to do. Throw all of this together, a few murders, secret groups with agendas and the question how does one do it with a ghost... and you have the masterpiece called Bound.

It was perfect. The perfect mixing of so many good tropes, great characters and vibes that matched them and the spice to make you turn red and need one of those personal cooling fans.

This series is pure magic, the writing is impeccable, I don't have a single complaint or suggestion. I don't know how the next book can top this one. I don't.

Wow! I think this is a favorite of mine!
It’s even better than Feral, and 100% without a doubt my FAVORITE monster romance!
The Dom/Sub relationship between the 3 of them as well as the Artifact hunting! I selfishly want more of them! What happens to them now? I could read a whole series just about the 3 of them!!

Good but not my fave by author

I’m always a bit leery of romances starring a cop, which is probably silly. But Stella was a bit too emotionally stunted for my tastes. Sometimes it seemed like Isaac was the only reasonable partner.
The safe kink was a nice touch - with safe words and signs. Not my fave kink, but still done well. The plot had some predictable parts, and some serious issues were not as well addressed as I would have liked. However, there was a twist that I didn’t expect, which is always a plus.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: murder, torture, gore, abuse (off page), grief

Holy hotness, this book was steamy! Bound was my introduction to this author, and damn, can she write a spicy s3x scene. Who would have known that gargoyles have special equipment and know how to use their tails to the satisfaction of all? This book was also my first foray into gargoyle romance, and I doubt it will be my last.

We have Stella, a Mundane human, a member of the special Supernatural branch of the Seattle PD, and her partner, Isaac, a half Gargoyle. They are investigating the horrific murders of Mundane and Supernatural couples, all tied to a s3x club in the city. A s3x club Stella is intimately familiar with since she worked there as both a Sub and Dom before joining the force. To interrupt their investigation comes her ex, James, the Gargoyle who broke her heart, who is part of a highly specialized organization created to remove dangerous charmed artifacts from the world. These murders may be related to the use of one such artifact.

The sexual tension between Stella and Isaac is high with unrealized attraction. Both parties are interested, but Stella will not cross the professional line. Then comes in the ex, and while feelings between Stella and James may not be dead, the trust is gone. Add in some intense chemistry between Isaac and James, and you have a recipe for scorching hot s3x. Expect visits to the sex club; Sub, Dom, and switch action; and ample usage of all appendages.

I loved how the story was more than the s3x. The overarching mystery drove the plot and was interesting in its own right. It is great when a romance can balance the spiciness and plot this way. I cannot wait to jump in and read some other books from this series.

This is an excellent book for all of you monster lovers out there! Enjoy!

ARC from author! No spoilers in review!
Wow loved this! Started in the afternoon and had to be told it was bedtime, by my husband, at the grand old age of 53, in the early hours the following morning. I was hooked from the word go.
We have Crime, Detectives, sexy Gargoyles - oh my! BDSM and Spice all set in the atmospheric Seattle of the Authors yesteryear. (Tip: strongly recommend not skipping the authors introduction as it adds to piquancy of this Seattle).
The 2nd book in the Monsters & Artifacts series and is a stand alone but featuring familiar characters we met in Feral.
It is fast paced with just enough back history angst to give character depth, tension is HOT, Spice Steaming and BDSM scenes are some of the best I have ever read.
On the darker side than Feral with some triggers relating to Stella's past, bloody crime scenes etc so readers to take note of the content warnings, it is MMF and for mature readers. This is NOT a read where you use your imagination but where your fantasies come to life!
Last but not least; the artwork - Stunning! Would read this book based on that alone. One for the bookshelf not just the digital library.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Bound is a feast of emotions and sensations that Trish Heinrich has served up. I was thrilled, flushed, saddened, and elated. Sometimes I got all of those in the same reading session. If your idea of spicy romance would be at home at a Thai restaurant and crime stories make you giddy, stop what you’re doing. Get this book.

Heinrich’s Monsters and Artifact’s series is my Sexy Indiana Jones series. I absolutely loved the play with lore in Bound, just as I did in Feral, the first book in this series. Bound allows even more backstory, which I appreciated. It gave me a deeper “oh shit” moment at the climax.

Halfway through Bound I realized this is the second book I’ve read that purposely tries to portray BDSM and is set in Seattle. Unlike Fifty Shades of Grey, Bound portrays actual BDSM dynamics so I recommend this book to reinforce what consent and boundaries actually are.

Speaking of consent and boundaries, this is a gritty crime drama almost as much as an erotic romance. Approach this story with respect to what you are actually up for. I don’t have trauma related to abusive relationships or murder so I was fine. If you can handle it then the red herring and suspense will be legitimately thrilling. If not? Then, nope.

OMG this was so freaking HOT. The smut in this book is top notch, touching on what feels like every kink in existing!!! It's explores polyamory in a way that doesn't shy away from feeling of jealousy, which is super refreshing. Trish faces issues head-on, and has the characters discuss their feelings with honesty.

Stella is unbelievably sassy and strong, which I LOVE in a female main character. Both James and Isaac are possessive, but in very different ways. James is stoic and dominant, while Isaac is friendly, open, and needy. The three of them together just make so much sense!!!

The story was dark and gritty, if a little predictable at times. Nothing beats gruesome supernatural murders in the heart of Seattle. My only complaint is that the final conflict felt a bit rushed. I wanted things to be a bit more drawn out (and angsty).

Overall, this was a FANTASTIC book, and I will definitely be continuing the series!!!

This was everything I have been waiting for and more! I loved the dynamic of these three and how they were all so...into each other. I am poly myself and my dream dynamic is something very similar to this. (Sorry, but its not as fun when its only two men focusing on the woman at all times. They all need to be equally into one another for me to truly enjoy it.) As for the plot of the story, holy Hecate! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time reading this, it was so well put together and I simply couldn't put it down until I was finished. This is so wonderfully written and all three of the main characters mesh so well and have their own voices. I was utterly enchanted. Definitely read this!

A gargoyle romance that is definitely hot but has so much more than that. The story is a detective story with a very dark evil. Stella is human and knows all about the paranormal that live with and around humans. But there is even some secrets she doesn’t know. She and her partner have been tasked to solve a murder and stop a serial killer. The two will soon become three as part of her past comes back. Things will go from bad to worse but they won’t stop until they stop the killings. Secrets will be found out and feelings will heat up. The story gets pretty damn hot as it is a mmf.

New to me author...

I loved the story. Smutty monster/human pairing romance with a serial killer murder mystery! MMF. Sassy and witty. Lots of interesting dynamics between the characters sexually and not. The relationship between Stella & Isaac, cop partners inside a supernatural special division, is tense with a heavy undercurrent of lust and something more. Then enters a blast from Stella's past, James, who shakes up everything for all of them.

I adore these polyamourous f*ckers.
Stella is the definition of badass, I kneel before you, mistress.
Isaac ist just so sweet but nonetheless hot as hell. He truly is the cherry on every pie.
Daddy James is the possessive force that sets your soul on fire.
They are all brave and vulnerable. Im addicted.

Besides the main chars I really enjoy the storyline, these artefacts are a thing. I would do a lot of things to see the Archive with my own eyes.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you, Trish Heinrich, for sending me an ARC!

Trish Heinrich blew me away with Feral, the first book in the Monsters & Artifacts series, because it was an amazing wolf romance that got me out of a DEEP reading slump so I was ecstatic to receive an ARC of her upcoming release: Bound. Bound is set in the same universe as Feral with some slight crossover but if you absolutely wanted to skip Feral, you could, I just wouldn’t recommend doing so.

Again we have the adventure and fun that comes with the artifacts in this world while also weaving in danger and mystery that comes with our main characters trying to catch a serial killer. Check the triggers!

In Bound we have our three main characters: Stella, the “mundane” (aka human) detective, her gargoyle partner, Isaac, and the gargoyle who broke her heart years ago, James.

This book had me on edge with the mystery of the murders while also rooting for the characters to get together. And trust me, they do (multiple times 😉).

Stella, James and Isaac were fun characters and each had their own personality. I loved seeing their relationships develop with one another and as a polyamorous couple. The beginning took a minute for me to get into but once it got good, it remained that way. I could definitely relate to Stella with her struggles to open up and let anyone too close. Isaac and James were just as hot together as they were with Stella. This is a not one you want to read in public.

The ending was sexy, action-packed and all wrapped up in a nice bow…just the way I like it.

I enjoy Trish’s writing and stories. I will continue to root for her and read/recommend her work. Thank you, Trish, for the ARC and everyone go read Feral before Bound comes out so you’re all caught up!

I messaged Trish for photos of the dong, don’t hate me.

Honestly this book was delicious! It got deep and I was here for it. The plot that carried on from book one about the archives was heavily outweighed by the personal growth of each character and I was lapping it up! The bdsm and poly relationship references in this book were so tasteful they had me sobbing! Nothing felt out of place degraded or overshadowed!
The HEA was a long road and the sexual tension the lust and the lack of self control was on point!
I can not wait to see where these stories go next

Title: Bound
Author: Trish Heinrich (@trishheinrich)
Pages: 310

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thank you to @trishheinrich for the ARC of this wonderful book. I am so thankful I got to read and review it. This story will be sticking with me for quite some time.
~
Stella didn't expect to be solving a case about a serial killer by going back to her old life a Dom in a BDSM club. She definitely didn't expect to drag along her irresistible Gargoyle partner, Isaac, or the Gargoyle that broke her heart, James.

But here she is and she doesn't think the Jack the Ripper serial killer is the most dangerous thing she going to face.
~

GUYS! Run and read this book. It's a MMF BDSM romance with an amazing plot, and interesting magic system and irresistible characters.

Stella, damn that girl has gone through a lot, but she's so strong and brave! I adored learning more about her and taking the journey with her as she learnt to trust her Gargoyle mates.

Isaac, 100% my favourite characters and the character that balances Stella and James, calms down the situation and fills in the gaps in the relationship.

And then Daddy James... Guys he is the perfect Dom for the above two and goodness does he love them. His protective side comes to the front throughout this book and I adored it!!!

The three of them work perfectly together and made perfect sense. The angst, the longing and then when they finally get together had me on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed their dinamic in the bedroom but also as a romantic relationship.

The plot was wild and a lot darker than the first book, but let me tell you - I was invested! As I was reading I wss also really happy to see that the author did her research when it came to the BDSM aspects and treated that part of the storyline with the respect it deserves.

~ A definite recommend if you're looking for a spicy Gargoyle romance with twice the fun and also so much sweetness (mostly from Isaac) that your teeth will ache ~

Good mystery laced with heart warming love smut

I wasn't expecting a tight little mystery with my smut but I was pleasantly surprised to have found it in this book. I typically flip flop between urban fantasy and paranormal romance books but this mashed my two favorite genres together in one place. The mystery didn't require Sherlock Holmes level deduction abilities and the romance had just the right of kink to keep things steamy. This was a hit for me.

🔥 “I haven't had dinner yet, and since you clearly don't want food, but you want to be licked and bit, you're going to be my plate.”
~~~
I really loved Stella! She’s a brave, feisty and strong woman. Even more, she’s a capable detective and a total badass. And she’s not afraid to speak her mind or face any danger thrown her way. But she’s quite stubborn and, with a past like hers, she struggles to open up to anyone and tries her best not to let her emotions get the better of her. Nevertheless, she’s so awesome!
And then, there are the two sexy Gargoyles! Agent James Carmichael and Detective Isaac Garret were magnificent males - fierce, protective, dangerous, lethal and very skilled in their work. Even more, I loved how sweet and adorable Isaac was. And Daddy James was so ferocious and deliciously possessive. I loved them so much!
I loved everything that happened between those three. Stella and James had a past neither of them had gotten over and it took time for Stella to start trusting him again. And when Isaac is added to the mix… Oh, talk about tension and sexual frustration! I really loved how intensely they were into each other and I really enjoyed how their relationship developed, not only as a trouple but also with one another. And when they finally gave in to their undeniable need for one another, the spice was spectacular! I loved the D/s dynamics - it was scorching hot and checked all the boxes about consent, boundaries and aftercare. And those naughty Gargoyle tails! Stella, Isaac and James were not only so perfect for each other, but they were also a spectacular team - working tirelessly to solve the murders of Supernaturals and Mundanes.
In addition, the storyline was fantastic! A serial killer, using a dangerous supernatural artifact, is on the loose. Moreover, secret societies are adding even more complications. And with all the thrilling suspense, gruesome murders and unexpected turns of events, I was glued to the pages till the very end.
Overall, the story is a marvellous read! It’s filled with danger, suspense, violence, action, darkness, betrayals, mystery, twists, scorching hot romance and magnificent characters.
I loved it!
Jack the Ripper's knives are loose in Seattle and it is up to a couple supernatural branch detectives and their liaison from the Secret Archives in London to catch the viscous killer under the influence of these diabolical knives and stop the brutal rampage. It's going to be a challenge to keep things professional on this case though as things turn personal - in more ways than one. If fact, there were a couple scenes where I think our MCs got distracted and forgot just what they were supposed to be investigating.
This book is Warehouse 13 meets Sens8 set in an alt Seattle somewhere between 80's glam rock and 90's grunge but totally modern. You've got these artifacts that need to be neutralized, and a bit of a police procedural tracking down the unsub, but running intertwined with the gruesome murder mystery is this totally steamy passionate tension simmering for the first 40% of the book until it explodes all over the page romance. And the relationship is just beautiful. I love how Trish draws her characters and Stella, Issac and James are no exception. Strong personalities, lots of history and current secrets and conflict that they need to work through. Like the angst in their relationship is real - and the way they build trust and open themselves to each other is so raw and genuine. The three way bond they forge is complex in its give and take and I really appreciate that there is so much focus on respect, consent, openness and honesty. Def read the content warnings though - this book gets dark, violent, rough, and kinky - not necessarily all in the same scene. NSFW.
Book 2 in the Monsters & Artifacts book, this can absolutely be read as a standalone. It is really only tangentially associated with the previous book. Ends with a teaser for the next book that does tie into the previous book and the Celestial Superheroes.
Trish Heinrich is an incredible author. This was my first introduction to her work and I am totally out of my reading slump because of this book!
This is the second book in Trish’s Monsters & Artifacts series but it can be read as a standalone without any issues. (As I read it)
It’s was action packed, had a great mystery and WOW does Trish know how to write a great spicy scene.
I loved all the details about the supernatural creatures, the characters were extremely entertaining and had me hooked. I was on the edge of my seat reading this mystery.
The main characters: Stella, Isaac and James were extremely well written and I love them so much, the emotions, drama and tension were top tier.
I will definitely be reading the rest of the books in this series and keeping an eye out for anymore books by Trish. This read was incredible, loved every second.
The book is good, well written, but I had a hard time connecting with the characters.
I appreciate the author writing a book that offers fans of stories with LGTBQ+ characters something well written to read. The characters in this book are unique and diverse without being cliché. Its nice to see authors offering a variety of MF/MM/MFM/FF relationships in their books now. This book's main characters were in a MMF relationship, so the 2 male characters and 1 female character are in a 3 way relationship, not just 2 male characters sharing 1 female character.
While I enjoyed the characters, I had trouble feeling connected to them. Not entirely sure why either. Maybe that's just me, but I think other readers may feel the same way.
Overall, this book has a good plot but is fairly predictable. I would normally consider this a light read with some spicy scenes except some of the subject matter is rather gruesome so I would mind the trigger warnings. These characters are investigating murders, so the details could be upsetting for some readers. While I don't dislike this book, it leaves me with no desire to read any others in the series. I just feel neutral on this book.
Two quick Notes:
I received a copy of this book as an advanced reader but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
2.This is book 2 in the series, Monsters & Artifacts, but can be read as a standalone.
What I Liked:
🔪 Trish Heinrich’s writing style really clicks with me. It’s intense without being too much. And damn does she write some top tier spicy scenes. 🥵🥵🥵
🔪The dynamic in a MMF book can sometimes be cheesy or fall flat. This book does neither. I felt that the trio really had separate identities but all came together as a unit.
🔪This series has been great so far. I love learning about the Supernaturals and the Secret Archive. I look forward to reading more in the future!
What I Didn’t Like:
🔪 Let me just say, the cover of the book is….not great. If I wasn’t given this as an arc I don’t know if I would see this cover and want to read this book. But it’s literally the ONLY negative I have.
Final Thoughts:
🔪This book is DEFINITELY not for everyone. It is firmly 18+ and has BDSM, stalking, and blood. You NEED to read the CWs before this one for sure.
Gargoyle delight
A great gargoyle and human throuple happy ever after. The main human female character Stella working as a cop for a supernatural agency has been done before. And her being the outcast of the group as well. But I thought this one was done a little differently. It definitely was enough to keep me interested in the story. Also, it’s a slow burn romance but I didn’t mind that so much. I loved that she and Issac worked together so they had history as colleagues. James, their mate, unbeknownst to Stella is an old crush/flame that hurt her and left her. She’s bitter about it. And surprised he was brought in on the serial killer case she and Issac are working of supernaturals being murdered.
It’s a unique story line. If you like monster romance as well as mmf, I highly recommend it. A little sex club kink and heat is served up as well. The supper table trio sex was umm….shall I say Filling. No doubt Stella was Stuffed afterwards! Lol. 😉
