Unholy Trinity #4

Cara: The King

Rate this book
CARA
I was always the girl that kept a smile on her face even when everything was falling apart.
I did what was asked of me
as any good mafia princess would.
I was also the bastard child of the Volpe family.
The one they whispered about.
Until him.
Now, I am the devil’s favorite plaything because
I fell in love with a nightmare.
The Nicolasi boss.
The one they call the Mad King.

LORENZO
I made a deal with the devil when I decided to take what didn’t belong to me.
The one-woman everyone idolizes.
America’s sweetheart.
To the world, Mia Madden.
To me, Red.
I am not the hero in her childish story.
She has no idea what loving someone like me will do to her soul.
I want her regardless.
Because this city will be mine as I need a kingdom for my queen.

Adriana Brinne, is a new author who fell in love with reading from a very young age but never felt brave enough to share her words with the world. Born and raised on the enchanting island of Puerto Rico, Adriana’s tropical upbringing imbued her with a deep appreciation for beauty and storytelling. By day, she navigates the world of computer science as a full-time tech, but when she’s off the clock, she indulges in her favorite contemporary romances written by her favorite authors and binge-watches The Big Bang Theory.

Adriana’s writing is characterized by her love for sweet and spicy romance, soft yet strong female protagonists, and grumpy heroes who secretly adore them. While she delights in exploring a variety of romantic tropes, she steers clear of themes involving cheating or death, preferring to craft stories that evoke all the feels without those heavy dark elements.

5 Freaking Stars. Thank you so much Adriana for another beautiful book. This book made me smile, it made me feel soft and mushy at times, it made me want to throw my kindle at times, and it made me emotional.

Ever since we met Cara and Enzo in Andrea, I just couldn’t wait to read their story.Cara and Lorenzos story is not one of your soft and sweet romance stories. It’s different, unique, and darker.

Our sweet Cara. Cara Volpe is not your ordinary mafia princess. Cara may seem like she’s a soft heroine who needs someone to save and rescue her, but she’s not. Cara is strong and intelligent. She’s just so much more than what you would think she would be.

Lorenzo is a very dark, intense, and twisted person. You learn so much and get to know more about Lorenzo to see how he became how he is. Lorenzo is someone who loves to cause pain and misery to people, but never the innocent. Lorenzo sarcastic sense of humor had me laughing so much in this story. It’s one of the traits I love about him so much.

This book is divided into three parts. You get to see Cara and Lorenzo’s childhoods. They didn’t get a chance to be kids which caused them to grow up more faster than most children. You get to see how the two of them came together and how their relationship started.

You just get to see their past and present come together and create this beautiful love story.

I hope you all enjoy this book as much as I did. This book is a little more darker than Adriana’s other stories but you also get more. You get action. You get romance. You get crazy scenes but you also get tender moments. You get Lorenzo’s possessive side and feelings for Cara.

I love that Adriana get inspired by so many things when she writes. In her first three books she’s inspired by fashion, art, and then poetry. I can’t wait to see what she gets inspired by for all the other books yet to come.

All of Adrianas books so far are unique and different than other books I’ve read. Down from each character, to their personalities, their backgrounds, and their talents/hobbies.
And down to how every couple love story starts and ends..

This happened to me when I read Andrea, Lucan, and Fallon. And now it’s happening again. I turned to the last page and I get a little upset and emotional because I never want the books to end because how good they are. But then on the happy bright side it just prepares for the next couple who’s story she’s getting ready to tell.

And guess what? In this book you get to read a little sneak peak of the first chapter of our Ice Princess’s Ariannas story. I cannot wait to read more about her and Bastians love story.

This book is a interconnected-standalone and can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the first three books in this series and the novella to get to know more about other characters and just because the first three books are amazing.

Cara: The King - book 4 in the Holy Trinity Series

Another beautifully written story by Adriana.
With each book she writes it tops the last book, I don’t know how she does it. When reading her words you see the amount of work that goes into creating a story like this. The details. All the characters different personalities. It honestly amazes me.

When I first read Andrea book 1 I became obsessed with the twins. We’ve already had Valentino’s book (Fallon) and he story was special. He is so different to his brother. They have the same goals but different end games.
When I first met Lorenzo I knew I would love him. He is the one I’ve been waiting for since the beginning.

No lie this book has been my most anticipated read since the beginning of the holy trinity series and it did not disappoint.

Lorenzo and Cara story was everything I hoped it would be.

He is the true King of this series. We had to wait for it to come but it came and I loved every minute of it.
He’s dark, cruel to his enemies, he’s a protector, a lover and a man who will do anything for the ones he loves. But he’s still the mad king and his darkness is dark.

He’s also funny, condescending and so patronizing. He made me laugh many times with just the way he spoke. His relationship with his brother and Luca was hilarious.

Care is sweet and loving. She is unsure of herself while growing up. She feels like she doesn’t fit into the life she is born into. She feels a darkness inside of her and she doesn’t know why.
But the darkness belongs there right along side Lorenzo darkness. It just take some time for them to reach each other.

There story starts from when they are young. They grow up together with the rest of the other families. As they all grow older her brother Luca decide it’s best Cara leaves and tries to live a life away from there cruel world. She ends up living a wonderful life but something is missing and she know what that is. But he never came for her.
Years past by Lorenzo grows an empire while waiting for the right opportunity to take back his queen.

“You wanted to push me away. Now, you get to watch me leave.”

“My world is wherever you’re at.”

And he take her back but not without any drama. This book is full of it and I absolutely love that. I was consumed by the plot from the beginning right until the end.
Some new faces have been added which is amazing, show there is more to come within this world. Also loved seeing how the other families have grown throughout this series.

I highly recommend reading this book. It can be read as a standalone you do meet the other characters from the previous books and you even get to see some events that take places in the other by Enzo’s pov. Loved that Adriana added them parts.

If you have time I would start with

book 1 - Andrea
book 2 - Luca
book 3 - Fallon

Every time there was a storm outside, I found him. The most beautiful chaos.

Thank you Naya and Adriana for giving me the opportunity to read and review Cara - it means a lot to me!!❤️

I’ve been obsessed with Lorenzo and Cara ever since Andrea’s book, and since then I’ve been gathering all their crumbs! I really enjoyed them so much, they were magic together.

Cara Mia Volpe My girl crush there! I’ve been curious about her character because I first thought she was a meek and sometimes loud girl with a crush on her brother's friend. But as I read the previous book from the series, I knew this girl had fire! I really like that she didn't shy away from any challenge Lorenzo brought though I wished she gave him an actual challenge to win her!

Lorenzo Antonnio Nicolasi His whole name. That's it. I've been so obsessed with Lorenzo, I mean, just reading his whole name I knew this man will send me to therapy, lol. I love how dark his character was but also Lorenzo is a softie for his family and Cara! Though I side-eyed him in some scenes because I wasn't a fan of some of his choices but other than that, I liked him!

What a ride! We finally have their book. The wait was definitely worth it because Enzo and Red's story was good. I enjoyed the pace of the book though I wished some scenes had been explored in depth but nevertheless I liked it. There are a lot of revelations and new characters introduced! I can't wait to know more about them!

I loved Enzo more than I thought I would.
And I loved how we get their story from the beginning. Watching them grow up and form such a beautiful connection was so precious. That was my favorite part of the book.

I also loved Cara's 'glow up'. I loved how different her attitude was, and yet, at her core, she was the same.

I'm really excited about the character that was introduced in this book. The whole situation kinda broke my heart and I hope this character will get their own book and finds someone to make him happy like he deserves.

Cara "The King" is the fourth book in the Holy Trinity series. It was my most anticipated book in the series. Lorenzo is my favourite mc from the whole series. I was waiting to get into his head. And I'm so glad I finally got to read this book.

Cara and Enzo are so perfect to each other. They have had their connection since the moment they met. She was the light to his darkness and also he was her dark knight in disguise. Cara also had her own darkness. Enzo quenched that side of her. Both their backstories were filled with pain and suffering. And that's what made them bond together. Their connection and intimacy was so intense.

My main highlight of the book was Lucan. My man came in like a King he is and to show he is the best brother in the whole world. And the lengths he would go to protect his family. He always proves he is the best man in this whole series.

I loved all family moments and cameos too. I missed them all. And it was amazing seeing them once again.

I can't wait to read the next book. I know it will be as amazing as this.

Thank you, Adriana and Naya for giving me the arc.

Finally reading Enzo and Cara's story, it was full of love, twists and pain.
From Starting to finish the way Adriana has written this story was full of rollercoaster ride. I loved Lorenzo always from the starting of this series and finally getting to read his story was everything. And Mia ahhh she was so perfect. The off-the-chart chemistry between these two was everything!!
And getting to meet all the side characters new and old once it was so good.
I'm so so excited to read the next book in the series.

I'm rereading the entire Universe to write my reviews. Lets start with the Characters,

Cara I really liked a lot her character. She was strong, she made sure she had opinions of her own regarding not only Lorenzo, but the Mafia and her life as well. I really like that she pursued her own dreams while she knows that her good life its not just due to her success but the people that love her and support her.

Lorenzo, my favorite Psycho. I knew he was going to be my favorite from the start and I was not wrong. Yes, he is a psychopath with a hard understanding of feelings but like he said, that doesnt mean he does not have them, and like Cara, you need to look closely, not only here but also in other books. His actions speak volumes more than even other characters that you will consider correct.

Now onto the Story In other books you know she has this “child crush” with Lorenzo like others like to point out, but once you are in her book and you see all the background they have together, OMG. You have never expected them to be actually that closed.

I really loved that this was not an instant love and that we had enough of their relationship developing when they were kids. I also think that the fact they did not had sex in those early ages helped a lot for them to later connect.

This was a book that actually was keeping you intrigued and you never knew who the main antagonist was, and all the links to the Bratva or mafia made it amazing, until, well, you know who the villain was. I honestly felt like this was so random and not interesting at all. I mean, if we would have seen or have a hint of him before, then it would have been shocked. But the kid of a guy that it was even dead before and we never even actually seen?
Thats what made the book lose one star. Plot twist or revelation must be shocking not leave you like “The fuck is this dude?”

Aside from that, I have to say this is the best book so far, the realest relationship, the one that I can really say they do love each other. And as per the author, the one that is not “that poetic I have to be amazing” style we see in other books.

Side Characters and Glimpse to other Books
〰️Nicolasi Family
I love the Twin relationship Enzo has with Tino. One of the scenes from the Past were Enzo is with Valentino, and Valentino says “She is crying” without saying who, because he damns well knows his twin. Or how Enzo is always complaining about his nephew visiting but he deep down is giddy about it? Yep, this is my jam

Cassius,meh, I still hate it.

〰️Vople Family
I loved to see a bit from Lucan again, and I dont get why we barely see them in the book, specially Roman and Andrea.

Aside from that, Giannas story is something I will be waiting very much.

〰️Parisi Family
Nothing aside Kadra being mentioned.

🧡 Cara "The king"  🌟🌟🌟🌟
.
This is the fourth book in the Holy Trinity series where we have Cara and Lorenzo as protagonists, I will say it, it is always a pleasure to return to this series.
.
The book is divided into three parts where we can learn about the childhood of both, how they meet and come to create this bond that only they understand, I would like to tell more but I do not want to give any spoilers and less than a book that is completely worth it.
.
But something that I am going to say is that Adriana did it again, even though this series is inspired by the world of the mafia, I can tell you that no book is like the other, each one has an original plot and is different from the one in the previous ones from the personality of its protagonists to the romance between the couple and that is not so easy to do but she achieves it perfectly.

The plot consumed me from the beginning to the end seriously there is a plot twist that I never saw coming, we have already known characters as well as new characters, I can't wait to read what else he hasn't prepared for the series especially I'm too excited for the Duet of Ariana and Bastian.
.
This book can be read on its own, but reading the first three books in this series is recommended to learn more about other characters.

I honestly feel split in between both Nicolasi twin boys.
I know, how can you feel like you’ve fallen for a psycho , yet that’s exactly what happened.
I absolutely loved how we actually glimpses of their past -both Cara and Lorenzo. Lorenzo was always and odd boy. One who didn’t really know how to express his feelings, if he even had those. He just didn’t react “properly” to things in life. It’s almost like he didn’t care for anything or anyone. The only that he cared for was his twin brother. And even then, he never really showed those emotions.
That is until he caught a glimpse of Cara when she was 9 years old, and he was 11. He caught her jumping in puddles of water outside. And something about her just piqued his curiosity. He seemed to be enthralled by this young girl that seemed to have a spark of a fire in her eyes. So little by little, he started coming around. He didn’t understand why he he kept returning, only that he didn’t mind being around her. And he hated being around other people - just not her. He tolerated her.
Their friendship grew - because that’s exactly what it was. Though for her, it was so much more. She had the hugest crush on this boy that was always brooding, but always seemed to take care of her and protect her. He always stood up for her.
I think that was my most favorite part of the whole book - was that friendship that slowly turned into more. Unfortunately for Lorenzo, he wasn’t allowed to “have” feelings for her because everyone thought that he was sick in the head and wouldn’t be right for her. But how wrong they were. He was exactly what she needed. And because he cared for her in his own way, he allowed for things to happen a certain way - so that she could have the freedom to live a life free of the Mafia life. Free of the burden and just live. I love how selfless he was in that moment. Though they all thought that he was mean and rude. But he had his reasons.
That is, until the time came for him to claim her as his queen. And what a claim it was. Holy hotness! Every single feeling that he repressed in front of others, he didn’t hide from her. Or maybe she just knew him enough to know what he was feeling. And she was okay with it - which is why I felt like they were the most perfect couple.
Yes he was a crazy bastard that thrived in chaos, but he loved so deeply! And this book showed exactly how hard he loved!!

This Holy Trinity Series is an entertaining read; we learn so much about the three families with each story. Cara, book 4 is all about the red-hair sister of Lucan and Lorenzo Nicolasi.

Why was Cara the only person in the Volpe family with red hair? Why did people whisper about her, and some call her names to her face? Who is the real Lorenzo Nicolasi? He always remains in the dark and never says much. After reading about them in Andrea, I have been so curious to know more.

In Cara, we learn so much about Lorenzo and his dark ways. But we also see how much he does for his loved ones. Yes, he is a dark underground mafia Capo who loves to cause pain, but only to those deserving! The way he chooses his men is also quite different from what his grandfather did before. These were among the things that endeared me to Lorenzo even more.

Cara always knew that the boy next door who kept her company in a rainstorm was different, and she loved him. But, she also knows that he treats her other to anyone else. Does that mean he loves her too?

Cara and Lorenzo's story has so many twists, emotional events, and deep personal reflection before we get to a happy ending for them!

I love this series and this author's style of writing. Her characters are well developed, you can picture them and they know their personality just by reading the stories. The character, and the plots I find so refreshing. I can't wait to read more from Adriana Brinne.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:

Action-packed, Easy-to-read, Entertaining, Page-turner, Romantic, Steamy, Unpredictable, Wonderful characters

I really enjoyed this story, Enzo & Cara were a great match, however the first 20% of the book it's in the past when they are kids, and the way they talked and things they did were very grown up and not believable, even if they were part of the Mafia world.

Also, I get this is a dark romance, but some of Enzo's activities were way too descriptive and uncomfortable to read, other thing that made me uncomfortable was the amount of blasphemy on this book, Mafia Dark Romance books not always has to be filled with blasphemy and questioning God's existence, and it get to the point in this book that it was so much and so repeated that I had to take a break.

After that break it was very hard for me to connect back with the story, mostly because of real life situations, the story was good and interesting, and the characters had great chemistry, I just read it at a bad time, I know that if I decide to reread this book, I would definitely enjoy it more.

I really liked this one!

I loved Cara and Lorenzo and it was a lot of fun reading the chapters from them in the past growing up, I was really interested the whole time and wanted to know what would happen next.

The present tense chapters were just as fun and honestly I loved the push and pull these two had with each other and the possession the both felt.

The plot was fun, it was definitely character focused like the other books but I felt like this was a bit more plot heavy than the others which was a fun change. I liked all the interactions with the other characters and the hints we get for books to come!

𝟰 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀 ✯

i honestly really liked this book :)

ive read adriana's books from the beginning and ive seen so much improvement as a writer from her, its absolutely lovely to see her journey and how far she's been going

➳ this book was cara & enzo's story and i think it suited them so well. who knew the devil held a sweet side? for starters, these two are absolutely perfect for each other and the way this book was formatted into 3 major parts was really smart because we saw into 3 different times of their lives. this was really important because their story had not only sparked from when they were little but also the plot had also sparked from there. the parts were well paced and we got to see the characters turn of age into having their own individual personality and i honestly really thought it was quite interesting to see how they visioned the (un)holy trinity and what their goals were

➳ when it comes to the characters, i really liked cara and her journey to becoming who she was as a hollywood star. then there's enzo, who had my heart from the beginning. i loved to see his inner demons, his thoughts, and just HIM and i honestly ate up all his chapters from the start. andddd must i say, they had such a genuine connection from the start, with such growing love, it was honestly so cute

➳ another factor i loved loved LOVED is that the trinity is slowly becoming a real found family. technically they have been one for a while but to see them getting closer, and them having their moments was really something to savor and i honestly have all of them highlighted, even the smallest things

➳ also this might be weird to mention but i can see the love adriana holds for each individual in this series and how there isnt any favouritism that shows; it is kinda rare to see sometimes in certain series but i loved seeing her show the adoration she has for everyone and what they do

➳ lastly, i really liked the building blocks from the past books, and the ones in this book for the rest of the series as well as next gen already, it has me quite curious and intrigued.

this couple holds a special place in my heart right after the other 2, and i genuinely really liked this book, there were so many factors that i could talk about that i really enjoyed; this book has amazing tropes that i personally would say have been done justice ◡̎

thank u adriana for the arc once again, i cant wait for arianna and bastian next <3

“Him and I? It always felt like we met each other in every lifetime.”

Cara “The King” is the fourth book in the Holy Trinity series and it’s about Cara and Lorenzo.
I really enjoyed this book. I adore every character in the series and it’s always really exciting to read about them.

“That night was the first time I told Lorenzo a secret, but it wasn’t the last. I told him all my secrets because he eventually became my most treasured one.”

Lorenzo Nicolasi is the definition of boy obsessed. I really liked him since Andrea’s books. Reading his POV was really exciting. Even though he is different, darker than others, the way he cares and loves his family made me love him.
Cara is a princess. A mafia princess. She is sweet but also strong and intelligent. I knew I would adore her.
Enzo and Mia…they were born for each other. It’s clear from the begging.

My favorite man…Lucan Volpe. The best husband, father and brother. I will always adore him. I loved his bond with Cara.

I've been waiting for Lorenzo and his crazy since we first met him in Lucan. When I say crazy, I mean just that. This book is so unique and I loved that it was divided into parts and we got to see the transition in their relationship.

Lorenzo was a freaking pyscho and Cara was perfect for him. She wasn't an extrovert but didn't shy away from his brand of crazy, in fact, she was all in since the very beginning. She knew exactly how to handle him and girl was strong. I really liked that Lorenzo didn't 'change' for her. He was himself and she was herself, they accepted each other. Their story was so beautiful, it all comes together perfectly. I think this is Adriana's darkest book yet. The world this woman has created is so good. Each couple is different yet all in the same mafia world. I can't wait to read Kadra's and Arianna's!

Cara 'The King'

Finally we get to read about Cara & Lorenzo‘s story. As always Adriana‘s writing got even better with this book and it was really easy to read it.
Cara & Lorenzo‘s story is intense but so beautiful. They truly are soulmates.
I really enjoyed reading about them and to see the characters of her previous books again.
In true Adriana style we got a little teaser of her current work at the end of the book which will be my fav ice princess’s Arianna‘s book. Can‘t wait for her to tell us her & Bastian‘s story!! 🤍

This was perfection. It was an amazing read. Lorenzo is an anti-hero who makes you love him. You'll fall for him just like Cara did. Cara my sweet girl. Despite how nice, kind, loving she is, Lorenzo's darkness attracts her. That's why she doesn't just understand, she lives and breathes it. She tamed all his demons and wrapped them around her little finger the moment he first laid eyes on her. The best part is that he didn't realize it himself. Their journey was beautiful, painful, full of secrets, challenges.
