This is book two of the Julie Farlow FBI Mystery Thriller series and the main characters are FBI Agents Julie Farlow, Leo Finch and Jeremy Crinn. Farlow faced a lot of evil in her last case, ending up in the hands of the sick criminal herself and having a broken arm as well as numerous nightmares to remind her of what happened to her and the other women caught up in it all. It also brings back a lot of what happened when she was younger and her parents were killed and her twin sisters went missing, never to be seen again. She had enough issues dealing with lead agent Finch last time and he seems to hate her on sight and doesn’t like to rely on her excellent instincts about what links there might be in a case right in front of them. She is having issues getting the FI shrink to sign her back as fit to return to work, but that soon becomes superfluous, when both she and Finch receive packages to their homes, with a human hand in each! The boxes have been wrapped in a distinctive wrap of fabric which was a special order and links to both Farlow and Finch’s families. The hands were cut off a man while he was still alive, but have had the fingertips and any chance of getting the body parts identified, made so much harder. Because of the personal links and the nature of the items being a possible threat to them both, their director, Kronnig, sidelines them and puts both of their partners, Horne and Michaels, on the case as leads. That doesn’t sit well with either of them and they decide to work as much as they can on the side, to work the case for themselves.
Farlow of course wants Crinn to help them, but Finch still dislikes Crinn and doesn’t trust him, even if he is very protective of Farlow. He knows a bit about Crinn’s criminal juvenile record and doesn’t think he should be in his position, but it was the director herself that hired him and he exceeds in everything he is asked to do especially when it comes to computers and technology. A killer is clearly playing with them and sending them ‘gifts’ with strange verses attached. Each is obviously linked to the first gift they both received, but is getting more personal at each step. Somehow the killer knows details about both of their pasts that they haven’t told anyone at all. Farlow has locked up all the things that happened in her childhood and only her nightmares bring it back up. She hasn’t made any mention of it to any of her colleagues and certainly not to Finch! Finch tries to act as if his legacy as an agent and his family’s legacy is all important and is hiding something from his own past that might destroy all he has worked so hard for. The killer is leading them to a place neither has ever wanted to go back to. The victim whose body parts are being left as a puzzle for them to solve, has still not been identified. Crinn also has some issues to resolve outside of the bureau HQ, something that is extremely unusual for him, seeing as he lives on the top floor of the HQ, behind a secure locking system and bulletproof windows! There is far more to his past than we know, or anyone else other than Kronnig. His expertise though, is going to be key to helping them find the killer. That is, if the killer doesn’t find them first! Another twist to the tale as the killer involves others as puppets to play tricks on the pair.
Whether either Farlow or Finch will still have jobs with the bureau after matters go wrong when they try to work separately on the case, fed up with the slow moment of the two leads, Michaels and Horne. Is up in the air. They need to get results and fast, before the case is completely taken away from them and their past secrets revealed to all. This is definitely not a book to read is you are squeamish, as the storyline gets quite graphic in parts, as the FBI agents are given sick gifts by the killer, hoping to make them follow and play his game as he has planned. The final twist about who was ultimately behind everything that happens, is a shock and may leave a thread still dangling over their heads, even after the main case has been solved and the sick killer caught. Missing fingertips are just the start of this sick game and it takes a while before either agent can make a connection to the killer and his poor victim. Many more people die along the way, innocents caught up in the killer’s games and the puppets he uses to set up each part of the puzzle. A shocking case for Farlow and a new side of Crinn is revealed to her and Finch, which should make her afraid, but he is also so protective of her and always manages to get through her hard shell somehow. I can’t wait to see who Farlow is teamed with next and where the relationship between her and Crinn may go next, as she still tries to avoid any romance. I look forward to reading what comes next and would recommend this series to anyone who loves a good thriller and a difficult procedural case for the FBI and its agents. I've read several books written by Levi Fuller; he is becoming one of my favorite authors. He has done a great job at writing a good book; I will definitely be reading more of his books.

This is the second book in the Julie Farlow FBI Mystery Thriller Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Julie & Leo; they are FBI agents that receive packages with a severed hand that’s missing the fingertips. She’s still on benched waiting for clearance that she’s mentally fit to return to duty after her last case. When her boss refuses to let her work the case they decide to investigate on their own.

This is my first book by this author and definitely won't be the last. As soon as I finished this one, I went back and read the first one. There are no spoilers in my review. Here's what you need to know: This one does just fine as a stand-alone. Well-written edge-of-your-seat thriller that is just plain hard to put down. Twists and turns weave you through a story that grips you and keeps you guessing until the very end. Nonstop action will keep you glued to the pages. Get this book, you won't be sorry.

Julie Farlow and Leo Finch are receiving gifts. These gifts are grisly as they contain body parts from a living human being. Will they be able to save him? What message is the perpetrator trying to send them? Julie and Leo have to use every resource to stop their tormentor before he kills. Another page turner from the talented Levi Fuller which is mind-blowing.

Criminal minds

Great page turner but I got lost somewhere along the way. Don’t understand how the killer knew so much about Finch and Farlow. In this FBI thriller, you are introduced into the mind of a sadistic killer who plays a sick game with the two FBI agents whose lives are inexplicably intertwined.

This is another great book second in the series, same characters and an excellent read. Cliffhanger ending which I found perplexing, I like an ending but means I will have to get the third book...another day spent reading, I read this in one day , it is that good.

Secrets

Someone is "stalking " agents Finch and Farlow, putting them in danger . First by sending gifts. Each is taking the clues and tracking them individually . Is that what he wants?
Typos however story moves well in spite of them .

confusing

Did not like the end. End was corny and made no sense. Could have ended in a different setting. Confusing at times.
