I have such a soft spot for these books- I know you're supposed to read them with kids but I can't wait and end up reading them by myself!

In 'Sherlock Bones and the Horror of the Haunted Castle', Sherlock and his sidekick Jane Catson have been asked to investigate a haunted castle in the Catpathian mountains (not a typo!). The mysterious ghost is stopping the new owners from moving in, can Bones and Catson help to work out what is going on?

With their trademark flair for investigation, interspersed with lots of puzzles to keep your own little grey cells ticking over, this is a great introduction to classic crime fiction, fun for all the family.

Perfect for spooky season! This book is a great read with fab illustrations and a variety of puzzles to solve along the way.

I haven’t read the previous books in the series but will do now – and you don’t have to to enjoy this one. The duo of Bones and Catson is a fun pairing and kids will enjoy their adventures. I really like an interactive element in a book, so the puzzles are great – and will definitely help engage those youngsters who aren’t the biggest fans of reading!

This book is great and has everything you need – a captivating story, fun main characters, great illustrations and an exciting interactive element. Highly recommend!

Such a great read for spooky season! (Even if i am a little late to the game 😂) This book is a great read with amazing illustrations and a variety of puzzles to solve along the way! I love interactive books, especially chapter books, so this one was really just amazing. Sherlock Bones and Dr. Carson are hired to investigate a ghost at in Transylvania. Bones is convinced there are no such things as ghosts... but even he's at a loss to explain the creepy sounds and strange goings-on that he and Catson encounter after a night in the crumbling kennel!

Sherlock Bones and Dr. Carson are hired to investigate a ghost at a kennel (aka castle) in Transylvania.

This one was so fun! It was the first of these I’ve read, but I definitely want to go back and read the other ones! I loved the characters and the story was fun and captivating. It also has fun puzzles for kids to do. This combined my two childhood loves - dogs and mysteries so I think children will love it. I just wish there had been more illustrations because they were so cute!

Filled with puzzles and games, this book is a delight for all ages, but is specifically for middle grade readers.

I love the spin on Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. Loves of anything Sherlock Holmes will find this series fun, full of adventure, and entertaining.

I am a huge fan of the series and have every book of the series in my collection already. I also bought multiple copies of the series to be given to my students as gifts.

It is a very well written story with cute illustrations and engaging puzzles. I have to say though that the mystery can be easily solved as the clues are a bit obvious.

I really enjoyed this fun mystery with puzzles included. I enjoyed the subtle changes to names to fit in with the cat and dog characters. I would definitely recommend this for younger readers who enjoy puzzles and mysteries.

I really liked this book! I recommend this to kids who dream of becoming detectives, trying to find a first case, and who like cats or dogs! This is a great activity book, and there are loads of pictures in it! I really recommend it from 5 year olds to 10 year olds:)
