She owns and operates a successful cleaning company, and she's got a daughter and dozens of employees to take care of. So she's not quite sure why she's downloaded Getaway Bay Singles, the new dating app everyone in the bay is buzzing about...
But of course she so knows why—she's lonely.
When she meets a nice guy named Ted, they talk and flirt, and then decide to get together in person. Katie's not sure if she's risking everything, but lots of people meet someone online these days. She shows up at the arranged meeting place only to find her ex-husband waiting there to meet her.
Theodore Fleming had love when he was younger, but no money. Now that he's finally made his billions, he thinks his chance at happiness is in the past. Until the only woman he hasn't gotten over sits down across from him and asks if he's Ted. His Getaway Bay Singles app really does match up the right people.
Now that Theo and Katie are on the same, beautiful island together, old sparks are rekindled, and he wonders if they could have a second chance at love and marriage.
Can Katie bring him into her life, her daughter's life, and manage her business while he manages the app? Or will everything fall apart for a second time?
3-time USA Today bestselling author Elana Johnson writes adult contemporary beach romance. She is the author of over 130 books across two names, and there's nothing better than sun, sand, and swoon-worthy kisses! Unless it's a sweet-and-sexy cowboy - read those under her pen name of Liz Isaacson. Or an emotional, heartfelt women's fiction novel - read those under her pen name of Jessie Newton.
That is really what I'd call a second chance since the chance is with the ex-spouse. Not a typical plot. What are the chances that 20 years after the divorce you both move to the same island and get matched up on a dating app? It must be meant to be. They fell back into love very easily so their old feelings hadn't moved that far to begin with. Theo said he'd never stopped loving her and was glad to see that she was his date. And Katie was at the very least still attracted to him.
I liked the main characters and Katie's daughter Heather. She was quite mature for a 10 year old which I suppose comes from being an only child to a single parent. A lot of one on one time with an adult can do that. She was also quite sweet.
My one dislike in the book was the whole idea of a Nine-O club - exclusively open to billionaires. That just bothered me. It made me think of the whites-only clubs of the past and made me feel uncomfortable. I'm sure I'm out of touch with how billionaires spend their time-(ahem) Okay I'm definitely out of touch with all things billionaire but like I said, I felt uncomfortable.
Other than that one minor thing I enjoyed the book.
Sex: some kisses Language: no Violence: no

“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” Theo Fleming had taken six attempts at building a business before finally succeeding. During his first two failures, he’d been married to Katherine, aka Katie. Tired of being in last place to his dreams, she’d left. During the ensuing 20 years, she’d remarried and had a daughter. Then her husband was busted for drugs and sent to prison. Katie and Theo’s paths cross again. Now with a second chance at love, can Theo adjust his priorities to work less in order to spend more time with Katie and her daughter?
Johnson explores life choices and their resultant consequences in a way that captures readers’ attention. The value of money—how much is enough?—versus the value of having a life with people you love and who love you in return are questioned. Once again, Johnson creates a couple and circumstances that cause readers to cheer for them to find a way to make the necessary changes in order to be together.
Getaway Bay Singles was for your dating service. I love the unusual plot, of nature having a hand in them getting together again. Nothing like both of them having an alter identity, and when meeting they use to be a Mr and Mrs.couple. Katie joined because she was lonely, and then going home to a ten year old daughter, Chatting on line with a guy called Teddy, he was witty and smart, his profile picture was a cartoon rendition. One last thing she needed to tell him, and that had cooled things with men in the past. Hearing a voice that reminded her of melting chocolate and marshmallows. Her date had arrived, would they stay and catch up, since it had been twenty years. I loved the plot, the way they meet again, and would there be second chances. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
I really liked this book and series. First I enjoyed it being about older people like myself. We can't all be 20. I like the tone of the book, not sure how to describe it. Katie moved to Hawaii to get away from her second husband, who went to jail, and start a new life with her daughter Heather. She had started and ran a successful cleaning business. She decided to use a single's app. When she agreed to a date, it ended up being her first ex-husband. They still liked one another and built a relationship. She finds out he created the dating app and many others and is a successful billionaire. Heather likes him as well. One of the issues they had previously was him putting work before her. He still has problems with that and their relationship has issues. Does he convince Katie to give him a third chance?
This is a great second chance love story. Theodore and Kathleen were married over twenty years ago but Theo was always working trying to start up a new business and when the second one failed and left them beyond broke Katie divorced him. Now he is a billionaire and has never remarried because he is too busy working all the time. Katie is divorced again with a 10 year old daughter and owns her own cleaning business. They meet as Katie and Ted through a dating app and have been talking through that for a while and decide to meet. Imagine the surprise when the finally meet face to face and who they really are. Will they be able to have a second chance at love or will Theo still work all the time and not have time for Katie and her daughter.
I love being able to walk back into the same setting for each of these books. It begins to feel familiar, almost like home (it doesn't hurt that it is tropical since we never know what our weather will be like from day to day ;) I like the persistence Theo shows as he continues trying after multiple failures until he finds something that works. I like the story showing that aging doesn't place us on the shelf & life doesn't stop because we aren't young & beautiful anymore. Theo has more challenges to face as he finds that he wants more from life than just work.
I’ll be honest, with the silver fox on the cover, I was wary of this one and thought it would be my least favorite of the series. In addition, we haven’t seen these characters in previous books. However, it was completely different from what I expected and I really enjoyed it. I adored 10 year old Heather and all the adventures these three had. I’m sad this series is ending but excited to go start another series in this town.

Katie the first time through didn't take her views for richer or poorer seriously. If she would have stuck with him she would have spared a lot of headaches for both. It's upsetting in life when things don't go as planned, and those that really love us should understand. Theo made mistakes sure but he kept trying finally realizing what really made him happy. Unfortunately most women give the impression money matters more than love and family. Good read makes you stop and think about yourself and where your at emotionally
A good story of having a chance with a love from the past. After two divorces Katie moves to Hawaii with her 10 year old daughter to start over. Over 40 years old she texts with a man named Teddy who is everything she wants. When they meet it turns out it is her first husband who she left because of broken promises. Have they both changed enough to be enough for each other and for her daughter?
I loved this second chance romance. Theo and Katie married when they were young and after several failed businesses and not enough time together, Katie left the marriage. 20 years later, they meet through a dating app. I loved that they got their HEA but they did have to overcome past trust issues. I thought that Katie's daughter Heather was a great addition to the story, I liked hearing about the friends from the previous books in the series. This is a great story to end the series!
Theo and Katie had been texting back and forth through a social dating site. They finally decide to meet and were they ever surprised! Can there really be a second time around after so many years have passed? Oh, no doubt! Great story about how things can change over the years but still have renewal.
Theo is a workaholic because he wants to succeed at his self-starter business. He has priority issues. Katie is happy with her business but makes sure she has time for the important things, like her daughter. Katie held back and there were things mentioned about her ex that were not resolved. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
This book reminded me of that song. The struggles were real for Theo and Katie and i wasn't sure if they'd get it together. Workaholics are difficult to get to relax! Loved this series and I'm kinda sad it's over! Don't skip any of this series, trust me when i say, you don't want to miss anything!
This was a beautiful romance about second chances. I loved the storyline, the characters and especially beautiful Hawaii. This book is recommended for those who love sweet romance.
It's unusual to read a romance about older people. This one did it well, nice, without bring "gushy". I especially like Heather. Would have liked a bit more depth in the characters, but a nice evening's read.
Loved it! The characters are well written and their reactions to the believable situations seem real. I love that he figured out how––and followed through––how to win her back!
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Teddy and Katie meet through an online dating site. They spend some time getting to know one another through texts. When they finally meet for dinner, the fun breaks out! It is funny at times, sad at other times - and it is always an enjoyable and clean read.
This is a sweet and down to earth kind of romance with adorable characters and tough decision and unexpected family and second chance that comes with understanding and forgiveness.
Theo and Katie's story is a great second chance story. Being set in Getaway Bay makes it even better. It is truly a goid reminder that we need to give all we have to a relationship if we want to have that commitment given to us.
I've really enjoyed every book in this series so far but this is my favorite. Love the second time around is special and seeing the sacrifices needing to be made to make it work was very satisfying. I really didn't want this book to end.
I couldn't wait to read this story. A middle age romance compared to a youthful marriage.Older and wiser destiny stepped in along with a mature ten year old. You will root for this couple!!
I was going to rate 3.5 stars but rounded down when I couldn’t find “The Billionaire’s Ex-Wife” on Goodreads. It appears to be a recycled story that they slapped a new title on. The story was okay but ended abruptly at the 90% mark. No epilogue. Just boom, done.
Sometimes it's the second chances in life that being you the most happiness. This is such a sweet romance that will have you cheering for a happily ever after.
Best characters - Theo and Katie!. Katie¿s daughter, Heather is a fun character. She is ten going on thirty!! The Nine O Club is a fascinating organization and it appears in other books and series as well.
