One of the things I love about Diana Jayne alias Donna Jay is that her books are never the same. They are different in the most wonderful way and she doesn’t shy away from maybe a bit more difficult topics. Like in What Memories Are Made Of. It's exactly one of the things I adore so much about this story.

What we get this time is the journey of Georgina (George), who thought she has a stable life which means a loving family and a stable long term relationship. But one incident changes her life and nothing (aside from her relationship) is the same anymore. It's actually how the book starts, with a huge bang. George starts to question her whole life including people she thought she can trust. She also is put in a position that is difficult to bear. My heart broke for her several times. Just imagining your whole foundation slips away and you have no idea what's even true anymore.

But there is one person who is there for her and she can still relate on, which is her girlfriend Tania. Tania who is such a wonderful character and I definitely developed a huge crush on. There were times in the book where I wished we would have gotten her POV, just because of my crush. Lol Don't get me wrong, it was perfect the way it was and it wouldn't have made sense to switch to her POV. But when you have a crush it's possible you become a bit irrational… I am sure many others will fall in love with her too. She is just this wonderful person you can relate on but, and that's another thing I loved about her, even she has her breaking point. But no worries there is no unnecessary drama and they actually talk in an adult way. They also get some very beautiful intimate moments together, moments I appreciated very much. To see that it's possible to still have that after several years together was just beautiful to witness. My heart just fell in love with this couple and I was so happy especially about one scene in the book. I cried tears of joy because it was so beautiful.

For me it was wonderful to accompany George on her journey. I was actually surprised more than once. I think most of all because I am used to some directions in the books I usually read. For me that was so refreshing, then as soon as I thought something is going to happen in a specific way, I was surprised by a whole different outcome. It's when I felt like in real life. Lol And this just reminded me of something I almost forgot to mention. It's another thing I appreciated very much. In this story we get characters with common jobs and they can't just buy everything they want.

Aside from George trying to find herself again, we get once more one of the most beautiful sightseeing trips. This is one thing I mention in every review for this author, these trips make me wanna visit New Zealand every time. This country just has to be one of the most beautiful ones that is out there and you just feel in every book how this author loves her country. The way she describes the places and also includes her humour to do it is amazing. Which brings me right away to one of my favourite topics, her humour. That one is totally my kind of humour and I don't think I will ever get enough of it. Yes I also had to cry several times in the book, but in the end I was just happy and finished the book with a huge smile on my face. And now it’s up to you to give this story a chance. I really hope you will because this story deserves to be read. 🥰

Let me tell you about a wonderful story that will give your heart a ride. There are not many stories that begin with a couple already in a long-term and stable relationship, so I was loving this before I even read it.

That doesn’t mean that there aren’t some rough patches for the MCs, but one of the things I love about this author is that she doesn’t shy away from tough subjects. I never give spoilers, that’s a given. I will tell you that Diana Jayne develops strong characters with fabulous personalities and depth. She gives the reader a realistic story with scenes and circumstances that feel as if you are a part of them.

And the very title of the story elicits a question that we may all have at some time in our lives, but for the MC in this story, it hits her in a way she never expected. Gosh, I love how Jayne shows the feelings of her characters.

I had tears of sadness and empathy, and tears of joy—I’m willing to bet you will too. And plenty of laughter in the dialogue between the MCs as well as with supporting characters. And oh I love the spunk both Tania and Georgina show. This story held me from the very first line to the end. I love a story that also hands me a few surprises within and Jayne certainly did surprise me a few times. Just sayin’!

If you are like me, you also enjoy learning about the places characters visit or live—and New Zealand has a multitude of stunning places that Diana Jayne shows us. I want to visit New Zealand just to see the unique creatures that live there—including the people. Grab a chance at a pre-order for the second book from Diana Jayne—your heart will thank you.

2nd book I’ve Read by this pair (or so good the same person wrote it twice?) - loved this book - really good story held together by brilliant main characters and an ensemble of real people. Highly recommended.

I am generally not a fan of books with established couples. Usually when the main couple starts off happy, something happens in the middle of the book to break them up and cause me angst. I was happy to discover the best kind of relationship between the main character and her partner.
Obviously, the romance was not the main focus of the story, but it made my heart happy to read about a supportive wholesome relationship where the characters deal with their issues as it comes.
The main focus is George's journey of self discovery precipitated by a shocking declaration. The family theme is central to this story and beautifully developed. The relationships between the characters were realistic and heartwarming. Despite the deep emotional themes throughout, there was no unnecessary drama. Instead, the characters dealt with their issues in a down-to-earth kind of way.
The theme of grief is also well-written and although central to the story and emerging right from the start, it's not too overwhelming as to make the reader uncomfortable. It deals not only with grief over the loss of a loved one but grief of a life and self George finds herself questioning.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Not only did I love the characters but it also had just the right amount of feeling for me without the emotional drama being overdone.

This a book I know I will reread several times. To me it is a feel good book. The love between George and Tania is so strong. The way it is described in the book, I can feel it. They are always there for each other. It does start with a tragedy and life altering event. But the love and support is there in the beginning till the end. And I love that about this book. There are ups and downs for George, but Tania is always there. I just felt so uplifted. I did love learning about New Zealand. To me it is a big part of the story that I enjoy. I look foward to the next book. I did receive an ARC but these are my own thoughts.

I enjoy DJ's stories about normal people living normal lives and facing normal challenges. Quirky families and outrageous friends, but not too much angst, and not too much sex.

This novella has a bit of extra family dynamic, but not based on gender biases. The challenge presented is straight-forward with reasonable reactions by everyone. Lots of warmth and understanding all around.

Plus we get to explore a new section of New Zealand!

I never cry when reading books….until now! I think I was moved to tears several times by how certain situations were so beautifully written. I fell in love with love, wishing I could be in their world. Georgina (“George”) and Tania were the perfect couple, together nine years before they married. There was no real angst between the two, but there were some seriously challenging situations for George, all soothed by the love that Tania bestowed on her. We all wish we had a Tania to make us feel so much love.
This book also had so many delightful moments of humor that drew chuckles out of me. I hope my review doesn’t give the impression that it’s a yawning, sappy romance. You will LOVE George and Tania and finish the book feeling so happy that you read it.

It is warm, loving and heartwarmingly beautiful.
It's the loving relationship between George and her fiancée that grabbed me right away.
How they gently prove their love again and again and give each other security.
Romance may not be the central theme, but it is an enormously large part of the story.
George and her family have already taken a devastating blow from the loss of a loved one, but what follows is even harder for George!
I don't want to spoil anything and go into details…

This book brought me to tears (more than once), had a wonderful happy ending, left a warm feeling inside me and a smile on my face.

I read an ARC for an honest review!

Who Am I? is a lesbian romance about love, family, and parenthood that challenges the reader's emotions the whole way through. It's a sad, sorrowful story that starts with the death of a loved one and the reveal of a painful secret, but which finds its way to a happy ending.

When Georgina (George) Wilkes loses her mother in a tragic accident, she doesn't imagine that her dying words will open an even deeper wound. Not only is she forced to confront the revelation that her dad is not her father, but she has to deal with the fact that her siblings have been party to hiding that secret for years.

Her fiancée, Tania, is her rock throughout the ordeal, the one woman on whom she can always rely. The emotional turmoil does put some stress on their relationship, but their love is so strong and so beautiful that it really is a joy watching them pull one another through. They undertake a journey of discovery together, and even if their search doesn't have the happy ending they hoped for, it ultimately brings them full circle to an acceptance of those who love them.

Who Am I? is equal parts family drama and lesbian romance, with a supporting cast of siblings, spouses, cousins, and characters who give it color and life. There are two more tiny characters introduced before the end who transform the final chapters, and while there is still an element of uncertainty to it, the happily-ever-after ending is delightful.

Who am I by Diana Jayne (Donna Jay) is a sweet romance featuring an established couple. It’s a story about loss, learning new truths and finding out that blood is not needed to call someone your family.

This book is such a sweet and beautiful romance. I love that the couple are already together and that we get to see how the navigate life’s ups and downs.

George and Tania have been together for 9 yrs and are planning their Wedding. A phone call then a confession from her dying mother, turns George’s life upside down. Luckily Tania is there to help her through it at her own pace.

This book is such a joy to read, because it makes you realise that if you have the right people around you, then you can survive and over come even the hardest of life changing events. Watching George come to terms with a new normal with her person there to help was wonderful. These ladies warmed my heart and it was a refreshing change to read a romance without any relationship drama. In fact throughout the book their relationship just got stronger and stronger.

The epilogue in this book is one of the most satisfying I’ve read. It left me knowing that all is well and even though life is sometimes devastating, there can still be a happy ending.

Go grab a copy and be prepared to be wrapped in a warm hug.

This is a lovely book about loss, love and family. George’s life couldn’t be more perfect, loving family, gorgeous fiancée, a job she enjoys and about to get married. But, he life is thrown out of balance with a deathbed confession setting George to find out what really matters in life. There is no aghast in this book, just well written, with a meaningful storyline and a HEA. Also great descriptions of New Zealand. Really enjoyed this easy read on a Sunday afternoon.

If this novel doesn't grab you from the first couple of pages, I'd be extremely surprised!
Georgina, aka George, has her relatively normal life rocked to the core. She has a loving fiancée and loving family but this is something that she has to come to terms with on her own. This book has everything and it also makes you think...what would I do if it was me? I loved reading it and I confess that I was brought to tears a few times but then I was laughing out loud. The wonderful sights and scenery of New Zealand, lovingly described in the book make me want to hop over to NZ in the summer and check it out. I have also found that I have now a new appreciation of Kune Kune pigs!!!
Diana Jayne (or Donna Jay) never disappoints and this novel is thoroughly worth the time to read and enjoy. Do yourself a favour and get it.

To me this was a rather difficult reading since the event that led to Georgina's discoveries is the one thing that keeps me awake at nigh once in a while. So I felt it for her. The bit she learnt was something I'd never seek an answer to if I was her. But it was rather pleasing seeing how she dealt with things when confronting it and the outcome even better.

I loved how supportive Tania was of her and how the couple was, in a very human and sort of flawed way, on the same page. This is one thing I love about Donna Jay, she makes her characters real, personable and don't make they suffer too much before their HEA/HFN. She's not mean hahaha. It's comforting.

Oh, and it managed to add a health amount of comedy –considering the heavy theme –, my my it got a few laughs out of me. The couple's banter was very amusing.

Heartfelt and cathartic!

A wedding is on the horizon when Georgia's life changes in an instant the moment her mother voices a long kept secret upon her deathbed. But her amazing and loving fiancee Tania helps her every step of the way. The love and support is beautiful and truly undeniable. We all could use a Tania in our lives. This book could have gone in so, so many different ways, but this fabulous author wrote it within such a warm, nurturing environment. This secret began a journey that will make the reader angry, then laugh, then cry - omg, all the "feels!" And along the way, we get a little taste of New Zealand. This is a book I highly recommend!!! Brava!!!

I love lesbian fiction that isn't just a cute girl meets girl. I mean, I love those, too, but seeing an established couple gives you a different perspective... and what a perspective it is! The journey and the themes throughout this novel are definitely well presented. Understanding "Who Am I?" is something that's interestingly presented in this book, while also entertaining throughout. I turned the pages, wanting to know where it was all heading, but also not wanting it to end. Who Am I? by Diana Jayne is a novel that will stay with you, and yet also entertain you. I highly recommend it!

Sweet, funny, sad, euphoric - an outstanding and very original WLW story

Delightful humor and captivating characters - and an unusual story - captured my interest right away. Although yes, there's also a tragedy early on, one which impacts the course of the whole novel. But the mood improves - with help from the witty dialog - and a sweet, delicious love story emerges from the sadness.

Things slow down and get a bit predictable near the end, but I still very much enjoyed this book. I'll be looking for more by this author.

Secrets

This story explores what happens when a family secret calls into question who you are and what it means to be parent. I really liked how the strength of Georgia's relationship with Tania and the love they shared helped Georgina navigate a tumultuous situation that could've easily taxed their relationship. It also illustrates the benefits of having a strong, supportive family bond. Blood doesn't make you family..... Shared experiences, memories, moments and love does.

I read an ARC of Who Am I? by Diana Jayne. I can’t recommend this book enough. You’ll love the MCs. It’ll make you cry (I did, anyway). It’ll make you laugh. It’ll make you think how four little words can change your life. This book comes out on Aug 28th and is up for preorder now.

This is a heart-warming tale of a long-established couple growing closer as they deal with death, a long kept family secret, marriage and children. The story arc encompasses emotionally difficult material without straying into melodrama. Overall, a very good read with a satisfying conclusion.

Lovely

The only reason I'm giving the story four stars instead of five is because it doesn't seem to have a singular plot of its own from beginning to end. There's a lot of little subplots going on, but there was no real beginning middle and end. Otherwise it was a lovely story.

Great story

So many lesbian romances are about meeting a new love. As exciting as those are, we really need more of this kind, as well. A couple that has been together for quite a while, and going through life's ups and downs.

Nice NZ story. Established couple. MC gets told by her dying mother that her Dad is not her biological father. She makes her promise not to tell the Dad. That's where it all goes wrong for me. This whole time the Dad knew. The whole bl* family knew.

Isn’t it strange how one phone call can change the course of our lives? Georgina and Tania have their future all planned. A wedding to celebrate their love, a family to start and a life together to build, until a phone call and a disclosure throws them a curve. Four words spoken by a loved one send them on an adventure to Stewart Island. I enjoyed the trip, that Diana takes us on down the coast to the third isle that makes up New Zealand. (Did you know there’s three islands?) You’ll need to read the story to hear the words that begin a search for answers for Georgina. This story will have you feeling all the emotions. I laughed, cried, felt anger and celebrated with Tania and George through this book. Diana has written a great story of love and discovery, that I think you will enjoy like I did.
