Cathy Liggett is a New York Times bestselling author and an ACFW Carol award winner. She is also an Ohio girl who never dreamed her writing journey would take her across the world and to Amish country, too. But she's learned God's plans for our lives are often more creative than the ones we imagine for ourselves. That includes re-meeting her husband at a high school reunion and marrying three months later--over forty years ago. She enjoys visiting kids and grandkids, spoiling the family pup, and knitting too (if the pattern isn't too tough!). This is a sweet and heart warming Amish romance. The two main characters were Leah Zook and Zack Graber. Both characters had suffered from hurt and broken family relationships in their past. Both needed to forgive and move on in their lives. Leah and Zack became friends with each other and soon felt an attraction that began to pull them together. Both had secrets they kept from each other. In order for their friendship to become a courtship they must be open with each other and they must learn to trust one another enough to share their secrets about their past. Can Zack and Leah forgive both of their families for the things that happened in their past and move on to find true happiness with one another?
I loved this book because all of the characters were an important part of the story. Both Leah and Zach went out of their way to help people who needed their care. Both Leah and Zack actually had their own challenges too and they were moral support for each other. Both had to learn to put their trust in God and each other. I thought the book was entertaining , an easy read and a page turner. The book has a beautiful ending and l felt the time I invested in this book was well spent.
I recommend this book to readers of Amish Fiction and Love Inspired books.
I loved this story with compassionate Leah and prodigal Zach returning to his father’s farm when Leah contacted him. The characters were dimensional with obstacles to overcome for each of their past. A beautiful story of hidden secrets, pride broken, forgiveness, hope, faith and love. This was an inspiring read to show no matter the characteristics or skills of an individual, life could bring one to seek answers and God to bring peace for a new life.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit without any obligation to write a positive review. I have shared my own thoughts.
I enjoyed this book. I liked seeing how the different characters found forgiveness and healing. I liked that Zach and Leah worked so well together and how when they were honest with each other, they were accepted for who they are. I liked seeing how all people healed as things were discussed honestly. I also liked seeing the romance blossom between Zach and Leah and how their priorities changed as they got to know each other more. I thought this was a sweet story.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
I found this to be a well written story-filled with compassion, secrets, faith, trust and some pride. Leah is a care giver to an older gentleman, Ivan, who was injured on his horse farm. He struggles physically and mentally with not being able to train horses. Leah reaches out to Ivan’s older son Zach, for help and is surprised when he shows up. Imagine the prodigal son showing up after 5 years of not being in contact with his dad? Can Zach help save the farm or will he try to sell it to help his father be financially set for life? Can they mend their relationship and will his dad be receptive to his return? What secret is Zach keeping from Leah and will their relationship develop into one filled with trust so that Leah is willing to share her own secret?
All words and opinions are my own. I was given a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit and the publisher for my honest review.
This has been a nice story that examines relationships. I especially liked learning more about Zach and why he left home so suddenly. When he returns several years later to help his dad out he wants to mend their relationship. We slowly see why he left and how his dad is slow to forgive him. I really enjoyed watching these two interact with each other. It reminds me of the story from the Bible about the prodigal son. However the father in this story isn’t as welcoming as the one in the Bible. The author illustrates how pride can interfere and cause tension when a relationship has been damaged.
Leah is a very giving person. All her life she has cared for others and never once complained. The hurt she experienced from her ex-fiancé has caused her to be cautious of building a new relationship. I cheered for Leah as she began to open up a little to Zach and how she encouraged him to not give up on his reconciliation with his dad. She is very compassionate and shows grace to others. Will she learn to trust again after something that hurt her deeply?
When secrets between Zach and Leah start to be exposed the author shows us how important it is to be honest with others. I liked how these two discover that they have been afraid of allowing each other into their lives for fear of rejection. With Zach’s secret it affects his father in a big way. How will he explain to his dad what he wants to do with the farm? Will it cause them to drift further apart? Leah admits that her eye sight is becoming a problem and is afraid to tell Zach for fear he won’t want to be around her. What a great example the author has given us. We need to learn to swallow our pride and let others into our lives. When we learn to trust others we can begin to allow God to help us. As we turn away from people, we allow division to separate us from others as well as God.
This has been a good book to learn about trust and forgiveness. The relationships between father and son are repairable if they forgive each other and begin to see how important family is. Leah has a journey that will find her on a road to trusting God to heal her eyesight. “The Lord does provide healing in many ways, doesn’t He? If we’re open to it, that is.”
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
Amish Fiction is my absolute favorite genre of books to read. Trusting Her Amish Heart by Cathy Liggett is the latest Amish Fiction book that I have read. Cathy Liggett is a new to me author and after reading this book I am in search of more of her books.
Leah Zook has been betrayed and gone through many heartaches, but she has found something that makes her happy. She is a caregiver for Ivan Graber. Ivan Graber owns an Amish Horse Farm and when he is injured, Leah gets in touch with his son Zach. Zach hasn't seen his father in 5yrs since they had a falling out. Leah is hoping that Zach Graber will make amends with his father and she also hopes he will fix the Run Down Farm and save it for the family. Leah feels she is not worthy to be loved because of her past betrayal and heartache, but she finds herself falling for Zach, and Zach is having feelings for Leah. Zach and Leah both have secrets that could hinder the relationship between the pair. Does Zach make amends with his Dad and help repair the farm? Will the Secrets be revealed and can the pair have a relationship?
I truly enjoyed this novel, from the very first page. The book is a fast read, but one that engrosses the reader from the first page. Leah has a caring heart, even when hers has been betrayed and broken. Ivan may be down and injured but he is a wonderful character and his willingness to see his prodigal son is heartwarming. Zach realizes that the accident that happened years ago was an accident and wants to make things right with his Dad. I LOVE how Leah and Zach connected throughout the book and their hearts knew the secrets needed to be revealed. The characters all rely on God to guide them throughout the book. This is a book about forgiveness, trust, faith, and love. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Amish Fiction. FANTASTIC BOOK!
Trusting Her Amish Heart is a book about Leach and Zach and takes place in the country, where Leah has been caring for Zach’s uncle. It’s an easy read with all of the features you would expect in an Amish genre type of story. Family, farming, simplicity, and wholesome values are found in this book.
One thing I did notice, as an author myself, was the frequent use of adverbs. Writers are usually advised to stay away from those, so I was impressed that this author found a way to incorporate so many into her writing. The characters aren’t in as deep of a point of view as other stories I’ve read. It didn’t detract from the story in any way, but was noticeable and kept me from entering into this story as much as I have with others.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review, nor was I compensated in any way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
What a wonderful story! This is the first book that I have read by this author, but definitely not the last. I really enjoyed the way the relationship built between Leah and Zach. It felt very authentic and developed naturally. They were likable characters, who were strong in certain areas and had insecurities in others.
Zach and Leah both had things on their hearts that they were keeping quiet about, both for different reasons. I found that their reasons made a lot on sense, especially as Leah’s were based on fear and uncertainty. But I loved the way they both ended up having realistic and mature conversations about their feelings and their concerns. It was refreshing and was a good indication of a relationship that would be strong.
I enjoyed this story from start to finish and look forward to reading more from this author.
(4.5 stars)
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
If you’re looking for a quick read with a sweet romance, then look no further than this charming story! I loved Leah’s quiet, yet sweet, personality set against Zach’s strong and eager-to-please character. While they were almost “thrown together” in a manner of speaking when Zach returned home to help his ailing father, there was no mistaking the chemistry between these two in their first meeting.
The only complaint that I had was that this really did not seem like a traditional Amish book. Yes, there were numerous uses of their German dialect, but there was very little about the story that made it “feel” Amish. Zach’s character had left his home once he came of age, and thanks to some successful business decisions, had become quite wealthy. Leah had been cut off more or less by her immediate family, and relied on her extended family for support and lodging. Neither of these things represented the typical Amish values that I have read in hundreds of other Amish stories. And unless I missed it, there was nothing about them going to church, nothing about their local bishop, and nothing about activities that the Amish normally do to help one another. Usually whenever a member of the community is sick or unable to care for their land or animals, there are numerous people willing to step up and lend a hand. If not for Leah becoming Ivan’s caretaker and his son coming to check on his property, he would’ve had an even more difficult recovery because there was no mention of anyone even offering to help. That does not ring true to the Amish culture based on my knowledge. This story could have easily been any other Christian romance, but I guess making it Amish helps the publisher sell more books?
This book read like it was part of a series as there were numerous supporting characters and relationships that were included. I enjoyed how easily this story flowed and the author’s writing style, and believe I’ll be searching out more to read from this charming Sugarcreek community. I just hope those stories will be more representative of the Amish than this one.
Author Cathy Liggett’s book is a heartwarming Amish romance, so if those stories appeal to you I can highly recommend it.
Both Leah and Zach are well written and strong. I liked getting to know them. Liggett does a good job of describing her settings so that the reader can feel as if they’re there.
A story of second chances and redemption, we see how pride and secrets can affect relationships. I appreciate how things were handled gently, and how they were resolved. And if you throw in a chocolate chip cake, well even better!
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
Probably my favorite I've read of the Amish books. I loved the setting, characters, message and horses. Would love to read another book by this author.
Trusting Her Amish Heart is an uplifting inspiration romance by Cathy Liggett. It is the first book I have read by this author and it was a great introduction for me. I enjoyed this sweet story between Zach and Leah. I was curious as to see how the pair would react once secrets were revealed and wanted to keep reading to see how it would all end for them. It was quite easy for me to read the whole book in one sitting.
I believe fans of clean Amish Inspirational Romance will want to read Trusting Her Amish Heart. I am giving it four and a half stars. I am will be looking forward to reading books by Cathy Liggett.
I received a paperback copy of Trusting Her Amish Heart: An Uplifting Inspirational Romance from the publisher but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
Trusting Her Amish Heart by Cathy Liggett An Uplifting Inspirational Romance Her heart may learn to love again… But can it trust? Running from betrayal, Leah Zook finds purpose caring for the older owner of an Amish horse farm. But when he's injured and his estranged son returns home looking for redemption, Leah's resolve is tested. The mysterious Zach Graber has all the power to fix the run-down farm—and Leah's locked-down heart. But together will they be strong enough to withstand his secret…and hers? This is Leah Zook and Ivan and Zach Graber's story. “Did you bring me something for the pain?” As Leah Zook carried a small tray into Ivan Graber’s bedroom, her heart wrenched at the sound of his groaning voice. After placing the tray on his nightstand, she settled into the ladder-back chair by the older man’s bedside. She couldn’t help but notice how the glow from the lamp cast even more shadows on the widower’s already ashen face. “I’m sorry, Mr. Graber, but it’s not yet time for another pain reliever.” “There may be a chance your other son could help.” “Zachary?” His expression grew even more grim. Leah realized too late that for reasons unknown, it was the first time she’d ever heard his other son’s name cross Ivan’s lips. “He doesn’t like horses, and I’ve done fine without him the past five years. I can do the same now.” Zachary Graber hadn’t played basketball for years. So he was very thankful that he could still sidestep quickly enough to dodge a large skillet sailing through the air toward him in his daed’s moonlit kitchen. With equal deftness, he tossed aside his duffel bag and managed to catch the woman who was falling toward him too. Grabbing her around the waist, he pulled her protectively into his arms where she went limp, most likely too stunned to struggle to break free. However, just to make sure there’d be no more flying objects, he gingerly removed the heavy frying pan from her grasp. He set it on the countertop out of her reach. After steadying the woman on her feet, he kept his hold on her. He couldn’t hide his amused smile as he stared into her wide-open eyes. “I have to say, I’ve been wondering what kind of greeting I’d get after being gone from this house for five years. But this—” He choked back a chuckle. “It was like nothing I could’ve imagined.” True, he hadn’t been expecting any grand fanfare, but dodging a frying pan was totally unforeseen. I recommend reading. Trusting Her Amish Heart by Cathy Liggett is a wonderful well written 5 star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Cathy Liggett. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. more books by Cathy Liggett Her Secret Amish Match by Cathy Liggett The Sisters of Sugarcreek by Cathy Liggett Their Amish Second Chance by Pamela Desmond Wright and Cathy Liggett The Stitch of Hope Collection: Beaded Hope / Sisters of Sugarcreek by Cathy Liggett
I just finished reading Trusting Her Amish Heart by Cathy Liggett. It is a heartwarming Amish story about love and learning to trust. You will fall in love with characters Leah Zook, Zach Graber, and Ivan Graber. This story will capture and hold your attention from the very first chapter until the very last page! Once you start reading you won't be able to stop reading and put the book down! I kept saying, I'll read just one more chapter, but I just couldn't stop reading! This story has a very simple beginning with Leah Zook taking care of Ivan Graber as he recovers from an accident with an uncontrollable, untamed horse. It's amazing to read this well written story that begins with such a simple opening. It is also a very realistic story. There are many scenes in this story that were totally surprising and unexpected! Secrets are revealed that are surprising too! I highly recommend that you read this book! I guarantee that you won't be dissappointed! I also wanted to share that I have read many Amish fiction books and that Kathy Liggett is a new Amish author to me. This is the first book that I have read that she has written. (She has written other books)! I look forward to reading more books by her in the future!! After reading this one book she has become a favorite author that I want to follow and read all of her books!
I loved that for a quick read these characters had depth and were realistic in their thoughts and feelings. Sometimes our deepest hurts are based upon a cloudy judgement and I loved how they grew and learned to talk to each other to work things out. It was enjoyable to watch secrets unfold as they learned to trust each other and find forgiveness. Zach and his father both had misconceptions and to see their relationship heal as they learned to be open was refreshing. This book had so many nuggets of wisdom in a small package. This is my first book by this author and I was engaged with her writing style from the beginning. I received a complimentary copy from CelebrateLit. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
This story was absolutely wonderful! When Ivan becomes injured Leah becomes his main caregiver. But as the chores around the farm start adding up she reaches out to Zach. One problem though, Zach and his father are not on speaking terms. By the time Leah figures that out though, Zach is at the door and ready to help. He only plans to be there until his father Ivan is back on his feet. And being the caregiver on the farm isn't what she feels called to do either. They both are temporarily together to help Ivan at first, but then it becomes a fast friendship. They have a lot in common, and both are loving and godly people... and yet as much as they are sharing with each other they BOTH are holding a secret. Whats to come of this friendship? Whats to come of Zach and Ivans relationship? What are Leah and Zachs secrets and when they do get out ( which they will) what will happen next?
Both main characters Zach and Leah are just wonderful people. You can't help but want nothing but good to come for these characters. But they are both hurt from past disappointments and they allow that to delay opening up fully to each other. That was a huge mistake, even if it was to protect the other. But when the secrets come out, can they forgive, can they trust God with the outcome, can there still be a possible future?!
Special Thanks for Cathy for gifting me this book. It wasn't in exchange for a review, but rather I won it, and I am SO thankful I could read about Leah and Zachs story.
Now I just need that chocolate chip cake recipe!!!🥮
I want to do justice to this wonderful story with my review. Honestly, if I could give it more stars I would. My first book of Author Cathy Liggett to read and I can't wait to read more.
From the very first page to the last, this story had me wrapped in it. From the sweet and witty chemistry between Leah and Zach. From the loveable young Samuel and the grumpy Ivann. This story was a sweet, comforting and peaceful read. A story that captures you heartstrings, as a peaceful ride on a horse.
Leah, has had her share of heartache, and yet finds good in people and in each day. Helping, sharing hope to all she comes within. Even though she feels like her heart is not meant to be loved, she loves more than she loves herself. Zach, is searching for forgiveness and acceptance from his father. But when an accident brings his father down, Zach finds this to be the answer to redemption after a terrible accident has him move away.
I truly enjoyed reading this story and feeling connected to the characters as sweet friends. And I liked how when troubled situations arose, they both found peace and strength in prayer and each other's friendship. Truly a remarkable story that will be a joyful to read.
Received an ARC complimentary from the author, All this is my own honest opinion.
TRUSTING HER AMISH HEART by Cathy Liggett is a sweet but sometimes frustrating story. Leah Zook has come to be the primary caregiver of her next door neighbor, Ivan Graber. Ivan owns a horse farm and when he is badly injured Leah calls his estranged son, Zach. Hang on readers, this is when the story gets very interesting. Ivan is very annoyed to see Zach standing in his doorway and tells him he doesn’t need his help. Zach is not going to be discouraged from his Dad and his stubborn ways so he stays. Can Zach help save the family farm? Does he really want to sell it so Ivan would be set financially and Zach can go back home?
Once I started reading TRUSTING HER AMISH HEART it was very hard to stop. Even though it is only 218 pages it is a very quick read that packs quite the punch.. My emotions were all over the place and Leah won my heart right away. My heart broke for Zach with him not understanding the real reason why his dad keeps pushing him away all this time. Plus learning about why Zach left home five years ago was very emotional. Leah, Ivan, and Zach all have secrets and they really need to talk to one another and be honest and trust their feelings with what they all are going through.
In TRUSTING HER AMISH HEART I loved Leah and Zach, the primary characters, but also fell in love with all of the secondary characters as well. Every one of them has an important part to play in this heart warming story and even though I wanted to reach in and shake one or two of them every now and then, they all weaseled their way into my heart. The frustrating part was how none of them would talk to the others about what was bothering them or what was on their minds. My emotions were all over the place and I was even reaching for the tissues quite a few times. Zach and Leah are both hiding from something in the past and are afraid of being exposed at any moment. Will they learn to forgive themselves and begin to live again?
I received a complimentary copy of this book from CelebrateLit. All opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given
Trusting Her Amish Heart by Cathy Liggett is a heartwarming story. I thought it was well-written with developed, realistic characters. I enjoyed getting to know Leah, Ivan, and Zach. There are some great secondary characters as well (that Samuel is a pistol). I enjoyed the lovely descriptions of the area. Ivan’s horse farm and the surrounding area sounded peaceful and a great place to raise a family. I like how Zach and Leah started off. I started reading Trusting Her Amish Heart and quickly found myself drawn into the book. I could not wait to see how everything would play out. There are some touching moments with my favorite is between Ivan and Zach near the end. This scene explains a lot about Ivan. I like how the characters would turn to God for guidance and strength. They know that He is there for them in the good times and the bad. The story has secrets, faith, compassion, trust, pride, and forgiveness. I found Trusting Her Amish Heart to be an uplifting tale with afflicted vision, a laid-up grumbler, an opportune arrival, boisterous grandsons, chocolate chip cake, and finding forgiveness.
Sometimes I am just wanting a sweet romance. That’s when I love these Amish fiction romance novels. They’re just the best! They read quickly and wonderfully. The characters are amazing and always leave me feeling so good when I’m done reading. Not only do they have amazing romance but they also have characters that steal your heart and a great solid Christian base.
Need a book that you can let your teenage girl read? Have a teenager that loves a good romance? This is the book for them. Plus it also has horses and what girl can resist a good horse novel?!
You need forgiveness and healing to move on in your life. Both for us and for the characters in this novel. The story is amazingly written. The characters stole my heart. It’s like the prodigal son story from the Bible but with a unique Amish twist. You’re going to love it!
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
I have come to love reading this author’s stories. This uplifting Amish story has an interesting storyline that revolves around the themes of trust, reconciliation, and compassion for others. The main character, Leah Zook, is a wonderful young woman who is busy helping others in their struggles, whether it’s caring for her injured neighbor or tutoring children who need a little extra help in school. But Leah soon finds that she’s facing an unexpected complication in her own life and that she is the one who finds herself needing some support and advice. Leah and Zach Graber soon come to realize that they care for each other, but they also each realize that it takes courage to put aside past hurts and begin to trust again.
I enjoyed reading Leah and Zach’s story. Both of them were easy characters to like and to hope for them to find their way for a happily-ever-after together. If you love clean, sweet, inspirational stories, be sure to read this one.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Trusting Her Amish Heart is written by Cathy Liggett. This is a heartwarming Amish Inspirational Romance. Leah Zook and Zach Graber were both great well developed characters. They both had a lot of hurt, baggage and held secrets. Leah has been caring for Zach's father - but when he is injured Zach comes back home. Zach and Leah both have an attraction to each other - but there are the secrets that are holding them back.
The author did a great job writing characters that had caring hearts. Leah, with caring for Zach's father. Zach, who left home abruptly is now trying to mend that relationship with his dad. We are not told immediately what the wedge between the two of the are, but as you read the reason will unfold. The story focuses on forgiveness, trust and relationships. Both Leah and Zach need to trust God, and each other to see things through.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.
Trusting Her Amish Heart grabbed my attention from the very beginning. I loved getting to know Leah Zook and discovering what made her run away from her family. Caring for her elderly neighbor who owns a horse farm gives Leah purpose, but after an injury forces her to reach out to his estranged son Zach Graber, things become a little more challenging for Leah.
As she works to heal the rift between the two men, she also deals with her own challenges. Secrets that the two keep from each other, but finally being honest with each other heals past hurts and allows them to pursue a future. Other characters in this book help bring the story to life.
So if you enjoy Amish stories filled with faith, family, and friendship, check out this book for yourself.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
This is a really well written story. I liked the characters and how the author talked about healing. There are different ways to heal and different things that need healed, but for some reason that stood out to me the most about this story. Forgiveness and moving on happens along with it and I just really felt that.
Zach and Leah were great characters that have both been hurt. I loved that they were realistically hesitant to 'put it all out there' and how the author worked through things. I truly do enjoy a good Amish story and this one really was good.
4/5
Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book via Celebrate Lit. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.
When you've been hurt, especially by family, trust is a difficult thing to hold onto. This is true for both Leah Zook and Zach Graber. They've each had their share of issues with family which has caused both to struggle with trust for fear of being hurt. Even so, they each have a kind and caring heart and this is just one thing that draws them to each other and plays into their budding friendship. As they work together to help Zach's father, their relationship begins developing into something more. However, each one is holding back from being completely truthful for fear of hurting the other or being hurt. As they move forward in trusting God and each other, their story unfolds into a beautiful story of love, faith, hope and trust that is truly uplifting and encouraging.
I really enjoyed this book! This is the second Love Inspired book I’ve read by this author and she has now become a “must read”. I was drawn to Leah because she was so caring and somewhat alone in the world although she had a good relationship with her cousin which I enjoyed. Leah had challenges with her eyesight which added to the story. Zach was a likable character too and his situation of working through his relationship with his father also added to the story. If you like Amish fiction, I highly recommend this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming Amish romance. Opening up and trusting God and others can be hard. I loved reading and watching this story unfold between Zach and Leah, and many of the other characters. This book was a page-turner with a beautiful ending, and I can't wait to read more from this author.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book; all thoughts are my own.
I really loved this book. It is a story about two characters who always put others needs ahead of their own needs. The book has a surprisingly twist turns the end of the book. This is a tale of forgiveness and faith. I will be looking for other books by Cathy Liggett. If you like horses and the Amish genre I encourage you to get yourself a copy and read it for yourself. I received a complimentary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.
Don't ask me why I read this. This features a lot of people who want forgiveness due to different things as well as some relationships which could have been better if they just talked and listened for a bit. Plus forgive your family which in the one instance was... Well, I thought it wasn't great. I haven't read a lot of Amish romance but this is VERY clean. There is absolutely no steam so don't expect it. It also features a lot of God and community. Not for me!
