Ever wonder what would happen if a Hallmark romance movie crashed into a Russian crime drama? This, you'd get this.
Gina, 19, is obsessed with Dmitri, 37—go ahead and clutch your prude pearls, then pick a different book. Also, why are you even reading these reviews if that makes you cringe? The title literally says Forbidden Age Gap Romance 🤨.
Anyways, now that the killjoys are gone, Gina is hardcore simping over Dimitri, a grumpy, muscled, undefeated underground boxer with a dark secret. Her bestie is like, "Girl, I'm taking you to see him fight b/c I'm boning one of his minions." Gina is like, "Bet." Fast forward a couple of pages and insert any convenient plot point that guarantees Gina and Dmitri end up alone in a room together. And since this book is barely a full-length novel, Gina amps up her stalker to 100% and says, "If he doesn't want me, I'll just climb through his window and sleep under his bed." We all laugh that off in the next chapter and dive into the steamy, forbidden age-gap romance.
Gina, even though she does some things that will make you look up and make sure everyone is reading the same sh*t, she kinda does exactly what you'd expect from a 19-year-old with no life experience.
Dmitri is a Russian Alpha, and if that doesn't make sense to you, I suggest you start with a different book.
Listen, this book is ridiculous but in the fluffiest way. Once you get past the "how do we get these two in the same room?" setup, there's nothing to complain about.

Gina, 19, has had an obsessive crush on Dmitri, 37, for ages. She finally goes to one of his underground fights and meets him. The sparks are instantaneous but because she's the daughter of the chief police, Dmitri pushes her away. He's totally captivated though.
After a hilarious voyeuristic event, Gina eventually wins Dmitri over. They fall for each other pretty quickly... and things heat up. ;)
Gina and Dmitri are absolutely perfect together- they have such amazing chemistry. You can feel the love between them as you're reading. This author definitely brought these characters to life. I loved every page of this book. It will give you butterflies! Five stars.

2,5 💫 | Para ser un libro de Sonja, me sorprendió que hubiera ruptura del tercer acto. Fue leve, pero igual no me lo esperaba.
Eso sí, este de mis menos preferidos de la autora. Mis favoritos siempre serán los Melnikov ✨.
Además, este protagonista al principio fue un imbécil, lo que le bajó muchos puntos (tampoco fue una mierda, pero para mí es un no). Y ella estaba loca jakajja se le metió al departamento y el muy idiota ni en cuenta.
Me reí mucho así que para pasar el rato estuvo muy bien. No sé si leeré el siguiente (Nikolai).

Even when she’s in a scary precarious situation she’s getting wet and thinking about licking the heros tattoos and rubbing her pussy on his leg. Yes. She’s literally fantasizing about humping his leg 🙄🙄🙄 Girlfriend? Are you ok?

1.5* Really badly written. There’s parts that made me laugh, so I gave it an extra star.
Dmitri is a Russian owner of a fighting gym and a nightclub. Gina is a …….WHAT? What does she do? What does her mum do? Apparently we just have to read lots and lots of sex and that’s it! We know her dad is the chief of police, as he’s got a vendetta against Dmitri. Why does he? The whole book is basically Gina throwing herself at Dmitri and them having sex. HAVE SOME PRIDE WOMAN!!
Gina is a 19 year old virgin, who comes across as a 13 year old. After watching a video of Dmitri fighting, she convinces herself that she’s in love with him, and saving her virginity for him. 😱 Honestly she comes across as a crazy stalker. Dmitri tries to resist her but can’t, and they’re soon madly in love. 😂
There are parts of this book that are okay. Sadly not many.

She pursues him, constantly offering him her frigging virginity. IT’S MADNESS! Then when they do have sex, it’s endless. She’s a virgin, he’s huge and she’s not sore at all? After they have endless sex without a condom, Dmitri realises she could be pregnant. 🙄😂😂😂😂

Me gusto es un libro la verdad para pasar el rato y no darle tantas vueltas al asunto en su trama, el age gap esta en lo insano perooooooo como digo es solo para para entretenerte, si trata de tener profundidad en ciertos temas, pero no soy fan de las tramas donde la protagonista es la que se arrastra o ¨ lucha¨ por la relación mas si es una piba de 19 años :/
El tipo no se comporta como un señor, actúa mas de la edad de ella , lo único que tiene de maduro es su edad honestamente, si ponen el topic de ¨AGE GAP ¨en un libro se debe notar no solo decir que es mayor y ya.

Second read JUNE 2024:
I wanted to see if this is still a 5 star read for me so I decided to read it again. I pretty much take back everything I said in my first review below because I HATE that she throws herself at Dima so much. Even after he’s been an asshole and tells her to leave and never come back she decides to break into his apartment and look around. Like girl get a grip. Her obsession is borderline annoying. I would get it if she’s actually met the man before but she’s only seen his videos online, she’s definitely an obsessed fan. I wanted him to chase her even just a little bit. Also I don’t really buy their attraction. So this is more of a 3.5-4 stars for me. Crazy how my tastes have changed so much.

This was my first book by this author and I was so pleasantly surprised!! Gina has been obsessed with boxer Dimitri forever and she finally gets a chance to see him fight in person! Naturally Dima was an asshole at first and usually I HATE when women throw themselves at men who are assholes to them but for some reason this was done so perfectly. Gina has stalker tendencies and I thought she was absolutely hilarious. So while her body was betraying her, usually I would be rolling my eyes but in this book I was laughing my ass off because Gina’s inner monologue was so funny. And even though Dima was an asshole, he wasn’t one for long and he ended up being soo sweet to Gina. The only thing I would change is the amount of sex scenes. There were way too many for this short of a book and they were longer than I usually prefer even though they were pretty hot. I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read the rest of the guy’s books.

I am in LOVE with this book. I just cannot say enough! The world-building, I loved this whole setting and the characters are fantastic!! I'm going to be reading about any and everyone connected to this story! I love the innocent tones, the sexy ones...every aspect was just perfect. This couple was SMOKING together! They positively light up the room and send fireworks into the air.
She was fascinated with him, but he tried to resist. Not for long...
LOVED THIS!!! I will be DEVOURING her backlist and looking forward to many more reads by her! Oh, a real man, no manwhores, attraction, steam, love...protecting your girl?! I am a puddle. They are perfection-sweet yet sexy. I felt so connected to them both. I felt for the two and was actually shocked at the mentioning of the Bratva, usually they are in deep which I don't mind at all, but this didn't need the added danger. It had it's own as well as all the sexuality you can possibly stand as these two cannot stay away from one another. She was too sweet and funny, but so responsive to her man. He is strong, but his mind is filled with thoughts of his girl. Sigh...perfect. I absolutely loved how everything turned out and am dying for more AMAZING writing, storylines, and sexy, sweet couples!.

So I got this book because I read two other series by this author that I loved, so I figured this set would be just as good. Unfortunately I was severely disappointed. I don’t mind a good age gap, but only if the characters are appealing and Gina just didn’t do it for me. She sees one video and is obsessed to the point that she breaks into his home, and then pees in his yard. I almost DNF there but as I said, I had high hopes. So I read on. She supposedly spends a whole week with him and lies to her family even though they start throwing around the I love yous and talk about being together. If that’s the case, and you think you’re mature enough for a relationship with a 37 year old then just tell your parents. I mean I really hated that she kept lying about him. Fast forward, she gets threatened and he tries to back away from her. Very typical. But literally she’s like I don’t know what I would do if we aren’t together. Again, obsessive, not sure that’s healthy love. But it gets worse because she goes back to his place and beats on his window in the rain until he finally lets her in. I’m sorry but these are all red flags to me. Maybe as I have kids that are close to her age I don’t want my kids thinking that kind of behavior in a relationship is healthy at all. I skimmed through the rest of this book and I have to say even the ending was anticlimactic. I don’t plan to read more in this series, I may just have to enjoy the other series I do like and leave the rest alone.

This is book one in The Russian Boxing Club series and it is Gina and Dmitri's story and what a great start to a new series and new author. Gina is the police chief's daughter and she has a crush on Dmitri who is an underground fighter and has rage and demons but she is prepared and determined to break down his walls until he lets her in and she is so stubborn but will it work especially as he constantly pushes her away for her own good. Dmitri grew up on the streets and when everything fell apart he moved to America and now has a successful business but at night he does underground fighting and he also doesn't let anyone get close to him until he meets Gina who is stubborn, doesn't give up, the police chief's daughter and tempts him like no one else ever has but the stakes are to high and he needs to stay clear of her even though he wants her but how will it all turn out. The chemistry and connection between Gina and Dmitri is so strong and intense and I couldn't put this book down and had to keep turning the pages and it had great characters and a storyline that pulled you in and it was so addictive. Sonja Grey is a new author and writer and I enjoyed reading this book so much that I can't wait to read more of her book's in the future.

Great start to Sonja Grey
I've read all of Sonja's books except the Russian Boxing Club Series. This book is a great start to her writing style.
I'm very glad that we get a bit of a description at the start about nicknames and dialect as it helps immerse you in the book. I'm also glad that we get an explanation about the accent. Usually, we are expected to accept incorrect pronunciation and grammar even with accents. But Sonja has used that to emphasise the thick Russian accent. (Which alot of other authors just expect us to believe they have a thick accent but can speak perfect English.)
The storyline is emotive and sensual. The scenes are many and sexy.
There are only a few things I wish we had:
The wedding
Finding out about the pregnancy (I just really enjoy being able to read a bit more of an extended version of the pregnancy and the alpha male over-protectiveness)

My Russian Obsession by Sonja Grey
This woman can do no wrong when it comes to her writing. Sonja's books will for ever be my happy reads! My comfort when I just need to laugh and smile. I adore her characters. First off everyone needs a friend like Jamie! Her friendship with Gina is magic! Gina is exactly the FMC that I have grown to love with Sonja's writing. She is tough and determined and you need that in a woman when dealing with these stubborn MMC. I quickly fell for Dmitri, how could I not though. I will say his stubbornness made me want to wring his neck but that's par for the core with these morally gray men. 😏 another amazing read and I can't wait to start on the next book. Which might be the only problem I have. Once I start a series by Sonja Grey I have to finish it.

After reading the prequel to My Russian Obsession I couldn’t wait to start Gina and Dmitri’s story. I loved Dmitri so much. He was a lot older than Gina, and at times I think their age difference was evident. Gina did do things that made me cringe, and her behavior at times was both laughable and a little eye rolling. But I loved them both. The chemistry between was excellent and I really liked and appreciated Dmitri’s wanting to make sure she was sure about them before they did anything. He was so protective of her, it was really sweet. I loved seeing Jaime and Aleksei, I really fell in love with them in the prequel.

Oh my gosh I’m still chuckling over Gina being a crazy person 😂 I for sure thought she would be caught by Dima that night but I did not expect her willingly divulging the information at the station. Oh gosh I was laughing so hard. As a Russian speaking person myself I really enjoyed the part where Gina was laying into Dima and teasing him, “being raised by a bear” and so on. So many books that have strong Russian mmc’s usually end up having really weak fmc’s but Gina was such a badass and always stood up against Dima when she needed to. Sonja Grey I swear can do no wrong with any of her books.

Gina had crushed hard on Dmitri, but she was a shy, a police chiefs daughter! and he didn't know she even existed until he sees her at one of his underground fights. Their chemestry is instant but he pushes her away, if only he knew how determined Gina is to prove to him there meant to be, well written steamy, age gap, innocent/criminal romance, thebstory keep ypu on your toes, with funny moments down right hot scenes and more!.

Amazing!! I couldn’t stop reading, I kept on telling myself I was going to bed but stayed up and read the whole book! Dmitri and Gina, wow they are such amazing and it’s instant attraction for both of them. There’s just a couple of things, she is the police chiefs daughter who has been trying to arrest him for a while and she is only 19 to his 37. Will Dmitri be able to stay away??

This is the first book of Sonja Grey I have read, I really enjoyed it for her first book it’s quite brilliant. I can’t wait for more of this series and to see who gets books.
I am hoping Nikolai and the granddaughter of Paddy get a book, I think that would make for a great story.
I enjoyed all of the characters in the book, they were well written and stayed in character throughout the book. The writing is enjoyable and doesn’t take away from the story.

Dmitri and Gina
I enjoyed this book.I found Gina's blind stalkery adoration a little over the top in the beginning of the book but she chills slightly as the book progresses.I liked Dima' s caveman speak.You showed his strong Russian accent well.Gina going from virgin to sex addict was a little much.I am about to start book #2 next. Sonja Gray hasn't written anything I haven't liked yet.

Dima and Gina
This was a really cute story. She falls first and hard. I thought the characters were well written and developed nicely. 4 stars because of the broken English spoken by the MMC. Sometimes his English flowed well and other times it was broken like the author forgot. I preferred the broken English I thought it was really cute and charming wish it would’ve been that way through the whole story.

I love Sonja Grey's way of storytelling!!
I have been putting this series off, idk why. This book is definitely on the lighter side of dark romance.
It was such a great way to start the series off!!
Gina is a spitfire and maybe slightly unhinged but equally as sweet and strong-willed!!
Dimitri fights his feelings at first but, in the end, knows that she is the only one for him!!

Cuando leo un libro de Sonja Grey ya sé que voy a encontrar un insta love, un final feliz y una buena mezcla de drama y humor. My Russian Obsession no fue la excepción. Gina es una protagonista fuerte y divertida que no se deja intimidar por Dima, y su relación tiene momentos intensos, tiernos y también graciosos. Es un libro ideal para distraerse y pasar el rato, con una historia ligera, entretenida y con el toque romántico que siempre tiene Sonja.
