At the heart of the conspiracy, the only way to win is to sacrifice everything.

Captain Jet Dawson is ready for an end.

An end to the betrayals that have stripped away the foundations of the world she knew.

An end to the threats closing in on her from every direction.

An end to the running and fighting that have left her beaten down and second-guessing every decision and every loyalty.

But what end will she find when the web of deceit has tightened enough to choke her?

As Jet steps into the final battle, her odds of success low, the consequences greater than she could have imagined, she must be ready to walk away with nothing if she wants to save everything.

The series wrap-up, which is always my favourite part to write.

Justice to those who deserve it (usually).

Everything as it should be (at a cost).

Obsolete is no exception. I adored writing this conclusion, but, as all endings are, it's bittersweet. I'll miss these guys and all they've done for me.

Ghostmaker 3: Obsolete

I had the pleasure to finish reading an ARC copy of Obsolete this weekend. Like the two books before it I found it almost impossible to pull my mind out of a chapter to pay attention to what was going on in the room around me.

This is the book where each of the main characters have to draw upon all of their skills, strengths, and remaining supportive relationships to stop the conspirators from succeeding.

During the first two books we have gotten to know Jet, Gideon and Madison. Obsolete starts with these 3 main characters crossing the wall from the mundane world to the supernatural realm to lay there case before the Queen. I have been to Ottawa a few times for conferences, and once for a short vacation, so I have recognized different locations in Ottawa - but I have never been to the McKenzie King Estate. After reading about the gateway to the supernatural realm I spent time searching internet sites for pictures of the sections of the estate described :). I am still wondering who Meril is? Is she one of the Fae, a spirit of the land who has walked Turtle Island with the First Peoples, or something else.

One of the key things I appreciate about this book is how Madison finds a trusted partnership in Malcom a human man, war veteran, and surgeon able to understand and accept her and the supernatural world. His medical allies save Jet’s life and lay the foundation for future medical support.

In the final show down with Michael, Gagnon, and Dougall the battle is for hearts and minds as well as a physical conflict. When the battle is ultimately won at great personal cost the foundation for a better future for supernatural and mundane in Canada is laid.

If you enjoy a well written urban fantasy, with strong characterization, set in Ottawa you cannot do better than the Ghostmaker Trilogy.

What an amazing conclusion to the Ghostmaker trilogy!

Like the first two books, author Krista Walsh takes us on a suspenseful, high-risk adventure with Jet, Gideon and Madison as they figure who they can trust in their efforts to take down the corrupt leaders in SMOAC - the ministry in the Canadian government for supernaturals.

In this book, we are taken 'beyond the wall' to where the Queen of the supernaturals holds court, to the underground labyrinth of Ottawa, to some more familiar locations in the city for those who live here IRL, and more. I literally LOL'd when I read the reference to the Rideau Street cave-in, because anyone living here at the time would know what a big deal that was for Ottawa.

Elements of the supernatural world and details oh-so-casually included in the first two books pay off in the third and this speaks to, in my opinion, the level of care and thoughtfulness that Walsh put into creating this world. There are also tidbits that to many readers, may read as a just casual descriptions but to public servants, they are like little tributes to the work we do. Also, the reference to Sir John A. Macdonald drinking...hahahahahaha

The ending of the book - and the trilogy - was extremely satisfying. It felt like all the loose ends were tied up and the MCs were ready to take the next steps in their lives. That said, I would absolutely love to read more books set in this universe!

The author kindly shared an eArc with me in exchange for an honest review.

I received an Advanced Reader copy of “Obsolete.” This is my review:

Threats, passion, and conclusions.

For me, I felt like I learned so much about the magical abilities and the magical world the characters live in while reading “Obsolete.” In this third instalment of the Ghostmaker trilogy tensions run high, battles are weighted, and the outcome could go either way. Every moment from the onset of book one in this trilogy leads to the conclusion in book three.

This series is a fun and interesting urban fantasy read.

Wow...talk about a climatic conclusion! Or should I say the author saved the best for last? The cliches can go on and on but the truth is I loved the third and final book in the Ghostmaker trilogy. If you have made it this far you know Krista Walsh has created yet another believable world with wonderful characters in her most recent urban fantasy. Jet, Gideon and Madison have already mastered their supernatural gifts but in Obsolete their abilities are taken to an even higher level as they learn to trust their emotions, not just each other. This finale is action packed and kept me reading well into the night. I definitely recommend it to all but I strongly suggest the reader start at the beginning with Book 1. You won't be sorry.

Book three of this incredible trilogy is perfect.  I just finished it and am left staring in the middle distance, knowing that nothing else I do today will match this feeling.

Romance? ✔️ adventure? ✔️ suspense? ✔️ depth? ✔️ imagination? ✔️ resolution? ✔️ power? ✔️ joy? ✔️ grief? ✔️

Did I cry? Absolutely. Did I laugh? Yep! Are these people now going to remain in my head? 100%

The book ties up everything so satisfyingly, but not in some candyfloss ending. There is so much grit to these people, this story. All I can say is that you need to read this whole series. What are you doing still reading this review? Go! Read this series!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review. This one really tugs at the heart strings, but you have to stick with the heroes till the end, I refuse to include spoilers, so that's all I'll say about that. Just know that our three heroes are put to the test yet again, and not everyone they thought they knew is really on their side. Once again Krista Walsh gives us great characters and immersive storytelling.

Obsolete is the third and final book in the Ghost maker trilogy. This one too is super fast paced and it keeps one on there toes throughout the whole story. I loved reading it and it worth the 5 star rating.
At the heart of the conspiracy, the only way to win is to sacrifice everything.
Jet and her group step into the final battle, her odds of success low, the consequences greater than she could have imagined, she must be ready to walk away with nothing if she wants to save everything.
Will they be successful and change what was done wrong to her wonderful home and protect the Mundane (humans) of Ottawa? That was the question that went through my mind when I was reading Obsolete. The ending was perfect but I was also sad as that meant this world of characters was now complete.
So if you love Wonderful Endings, Shocking Battles, Romance and Friends helping Friends then this trilogy is for you.

This is the final book in the author's Ghostmaker trilogy. If you haven't read the previous two, I suggest you do so you know who all the players are and what's been going on.

Before I continue... I've received all three books in the trilogy in advance in return for considering writing a review. Not only am I reviewing all of them, I bought them all, too!

At the beginning of the book, Jet, Gideon, and Madison head through the archway and into the Queen's realm, and it's all described so beautifully - not just the realm but the Queen herself! I didn't want to leave, but there was so much to do in "our" realm.

The stakes are never higher for our protagonists in both realms - for their lives, certainly, but also with work, politics, the Queen, and in their personal relationships. This author is incredibly good at making you feel like you're a part of the action. I felt every anxiety they had and every bit of joy and romance and fear and all of it.

Although I've finished this trilogy, I'm not finished with these characters. I WILL be reading this series again!

Epic conclusion of the Ghostmaker trilogy.

Wow, this book wrapped up the series in a way I didn´t expect, the author threw in more twist and turns. I kept reading and wondering if Jet, Madison and Gideon would make it through to the end.

There was betrayal, forgiveness and in the midst of it all, love found a way...to be almost torn away.

So happy I picked this series up!
