You know that old saying "Take it to the grave?" It’s usually used to show how important a certain piece of information is, how deep and dark.
But what if you never meant for someone to find out? What if you were the person who found out?
Camille had felt for years that her marriage to Nick was falling apart, that the shiny facade was beginning to dull. She assumed even their tight-knit group of neighbors turned friends were beginning to suspect as much. Finding Nick’s deepest, darkest secret only served to prove things were definitely over.
Only she hadn’t realized how serious Nick took that old saying and intended that she do just that.
A year after the group had finally moved on from the idea that Camille had left her husband for another man, her neighbor Tara discovers a body beneath her home one morning as she was taking her service dog for a walk.
Camille’s body.
As the investigation unfolds, the group begins to question everything and everyone, even each other.
Lots of twists and turns! The author came to our book club meeting, and it was so interesting to hear her insight to the novel. Loved the Houston setting!
This book was a modern "who dun it". It was very intense in the middle through to the end. This is a tale of how "things aren't always what they seem". I found character's thoughts and feelings demonstrated by the abused female characters to be very accurate given my familial history. There are few typos in this book which was kind of disappointing. I'm finding typos more and more these days. Author may want to consider getting a better editor.
A lot of twists and turns in this book. At first it was hard to remember who was married to who and which one had kids. But it got better as the book evolved.
I loved this book! The setting and people reminded me of my own neighborhood, so everything played out in my mind like it was happening nearby. I love the characters and twists in this book. One of my favorite books by Aimee Pinard. My book club loved it, too. I highly recommend it!
