Ridge: Day Two really expanded the world that I was introduced to in book one. Shawn PB Robinson is writing an epic fantasy here. His character are so developed. His world is so stuffed with history and tension. The plots move at amazing paces, bringing us all over the place to fit together a complex puzzle. I just LOVE these books so much. They are so worth reading.

Continued Quality, Excitemrnt, Challenges, Tribulations Galore. Not to be missed.

Consistently building on Ridge Book 1's bedrock, Book 2 seemlessly carried me on into a richly rendered sequence of events and, at subsequent times, surprising changes in established World Order .

Nothing will be the same for the People of The Ridge after events in this book. Old Friends, now Enemies. Feared Foes, now. ..? Friends. .? Family, together. The Ridge, Disordered!

For a recuperating Hamel, challenge upon challenge, Olmosites and The Beasts, through a whirlwind of events bringing both chaos and disorder on an unprecedented scale.

Challenged, Tired, Torn, Lonely, fighting not only for the future of the People of the Ridge but, he realises, himself.

Leaders are lonely, Hamel is no exception. Current circumstances have left an increasing burden on an already wearied Man, Parent, Leader and his once honed body.

Finding numerous signs of the Olmosite long term planned. betrayal and coincidentally a possible cause for the Onset of The Beasts, it is his unchallenged perception that is the key to survival for the People of The Ridge.

In Ridge Day 2 the writers solid style continues unabated. Its fine balance of furious action through minimum words per paragraph.

The story never truly slowing yet allowing time for key characters to be seen to be themselves, their real selves, allowing the reader, in this case me, to connect with and appreciate each individual character.

All in all, Ridge Day 2 is a superb book, as Ridge Day1 was . Seemless progression. Well written. Beautifully oonceived on all levels

In time its quality will shine through for all to see!! A delight."

Wow, I have to say "Day 2" was even better than "Day 1"! The world-building was fantastic, I loved getting to know all the Ridge people and their culture. Hamel is no longer the main character, but part of an ensemble that quickly grew on me. There is tons of character growth for Gollos, as well. And best of all, despite establishing that the Ridge army has the best-trained soldiers, there was never a time when they came off as overpowered or safe from losing. Each battle had me hoping the characters being followed wouldn't die, but unfortunately, some of them do.

Thankfully, the mystery with the Beasts begins to get resolved in this book, there wasn't much about them in "Day One". But now I'm impatiently waiting for the next Ridge novel!

This book brought even more depth to the kingdom where the People of the Ridge live. The story continues with more intrigue, suspense, and betrayal. Can't wait to see what Ridge: Day Three brings.

I have read most of the books written by this author and this series is many levels above his children's books. While the point of those books is to revel in silliness and entice young and reluctant readers, this series is much more serious and is for those who love great worldbuilding and well-developed main characters. While the first book focused on Hamel and his disgrace, and his subsequent infiltration of Olmos, this book primarily takes place in Ridge, and Hamel is more in the background as you learn a lot more about Ridge's politics and the military structure. We also get to know Gollos a lot more and the conflict she feels between what she has learned all her life and what she is now observing in Ridge. Even better, we finally learn about the Beasts and why they've been attacking Ridge for so long. This story was full of action, twists and turns, and I loved trying to guess what was going to happen next. While Robinson's underlying humor is evident in this series, the story is much more serious with plenty of losses, some of which had me tearing up. The ending did seem a bit abrupt, which made me suspicious, and it leaves you hanging, but thankfully, I have the third book ready to roll!

I loved the first book in the series, I am not sure that I have the same feelings about the second instalment.

That is not say I did not enjoy the book, the story of the people of the Ridge and Hamel, is a completely inthralling story.

It is very different to other books I have read which is why I enjoy this.

Looking forward to the next book and finding out where this story will go, so many twists and turns, who knows where and how this end.

This was a fun book to write! It was exciting to take the journey started in Ridge: Day One and show how that laid the groundwork for the next steps in the story! I hope you love Ridge: Day Two!
