~ Familiar Strangers (Hawthorn Academy Book 1) -- Aliyah has her work cut out for her, and her family isn't very much help. Actually, some are a hindrance to her growth and progress in a new school, especially her brother. What do you do when your sibling acts like you don't exist once you get to school, but was so happy to pack your bags so that you could get the best experience that the school offers, plus you'd finally be attending the same school -- back pain, you know, from the knife that they stabbed you with. Luckily, she's not the only First Year student. Why worry about a back-stabbing brother when you have a bully to contend with?
~ Acting In Kindness (Hawthorn Academy Book 2) -- Cowardice can tear a family apart, especially when it's by your big brother, and his lifelong goal was to protect you from harm. Whose gonna protect Aliyah from him? Relationships and friendships get tested, and who's gonna come out on top? Hopefully, everyone will figure out whether they're ready to put their big boy/girl panties on and do what's right. It's not like they don't know about Karma (I say); Coincidence (they say). Besides, most things you do will come back tenfold, and I'd rather that be of the "good" variety.
~ Fire of Justice (Hawthorn Academy Book 3) -- Aliyah is learning that lies by omission aren't as harmless as one thinks. You may have the best intentions behind not telling the truth, but it could hurt those you care for and the trust they place in you in return. Sometimes, the adage about things being too good to be true is far more real than you believe.
~ Learning to Give (Hawthorn Academy Book 4) --Seems like the Fairbanks hold the monopoly on bullying. Aliyah can win for losing. She may wear her heart on her sleeve, but bad people taking advantage of her kindness says more about them than it does about her. Maybe her brother Noah will finally get his head out of his patootie long enough to protect her. He gives more grace to the bullies he hangs out with than to his sister.
~ Light of Equality (Hawthorn Academy Book 5) -- Well, the plot thickens. Perhaps, but trouble seems to find more than its share of what people have asked for. We see more Providence Paranormal College Alumni in this book than in the previous ones. Unfortunately, there are Supremists in every corner of life -- real or fictional. None of us, and I do mean NONE of us, is pure anything. We are a collaboration of a diverse universe, and we're all the better for it; otherwise, we'd become like those paper people connected, looking exactly the same. How boring!
~ Worthy Lives (Hawthorn Academy Book 6) -- Oh no, say it isn't so. Tragedy comes to Hawthorne Academy, and it's a doozy. This just goes to show that evil is a learned behavior that is nurtured by its own. It's not inherent or ingrained at birth. These young, impressionable minds are so vulnerable to these evil, ruthless, and disturbed adults for a possible future that they won't be able to live in for any given time to reap the benefits of their benevolent behaviors and deeds. Come on, Karma, and bring your brother, Coincidence, with you, with a force to be reckoned with... and then some.
~ Mind of Distinction (Hawthorn Academy Book 7) -- Changes and revelations. Things are changing at Hawthorn, and it's not all good, or it's not at all good -- however you want to take that statement. Evil has taken up residence, and it'll be hard to exorcise its demons without authoritative assistance. How will the gang survive their third year? Here's hoping they do well with a lot of grace, hope, mercy, support, and love. Heck, throw the kitchen sink in there, too. I have a feeling they're going to need it.
~ Speaking with Care (Hawthorn Academy Book 8) -- And the hits keep coming. Aliyah's trying hard to keep her sanity, but with all the nefarious adults nearer than before, it's hard to stay calm without wanting to burn the place down. We're coming to the end here soon; however, I have a feeling that this will extend to the next two spin-off series within the Revealed World Universe. Whew, I feel like George Jetson when he asks someone to get him off this crazy ride.
~ True Dedication (Hawthorn Academy Book 9) -- The losses just keep happening. Greedy people are doing horrendous deeds to acquire more than they have or ever need in life. Everybody wants to be King/Queen of the world, but doesn't deserve the title. Those who deserve the title don't want it, not for themselves but to help others. Aliyah and the gang have a fight of their life coming, and not everyone will go unscathed. I know one thing: I'm ready to stick a fork in this series because I'm done. I can't wait to see who shows up in the third installment of four, in the Reveal World Universe. On to Gallows Hill!
