I’ve heard it all before. I need to grow up. Take things more seriously. Stop making headlines for anything other than my game.

Even though it wasn’t my fault that I recently got into a fight at a bar over a woman…yeah yeah, no one wants anymore excuses. My agent just wants me to overhaul my public image before I lose my contract.

How to do that is a mystery until my temporary housecleaner, Gemma, makes me an offer that I know I should refuse.

She asks me to pretend to be her boyfriend to keep her ex away. That’s easy enough. I’m a big guy—intimidating to most (though not to her)—and I have money and power as one of the top defensemen in the NHL.

But what do I get out of it?

The rehabbed image I need to keep playing the game I love.

Being in a relationship with a single mother tells people that I’m mature and serious. Two things they say I’m not. This could work… so okay… I take her up on it.

Even though it’s all pretend, I like that she has something else in her life besides me. Her sassy independence inspires me to be a better man. The kind of man that she could really fall for.

It’ll take a lot to convince her that I’m serious about changing, but I’ll stop at nothing to claim both Gemma and her daughter as mine.

After 26 years in Corporate leadership at a Fortune 500, I discovered people within the organization lacked integrity. I’d always known deep in my soul that I was trying to fit a square peg in to a round hole since I’m the typical creative type. I miss my staff but I don’t miss the corporate world. It’s been said that the Universe will let you know if something isn’t right for you. The first time, it will hit you with a pebble. Then a brick. Then a boulder. Let’s just say that I got flattened. When my fifteen pound toy dog, Nigel, was threatened, I knew it was time to say goodbye.
It’s true.
Here’s what I found within the first thirty days of being free. Writing stories from my heart that readers love means more to me than working myself in to an early grave for people who only care about their bottom line.
My heart has never been more full and my soul has never been more satisfied.
I’ve never worked so hard in my life but it doesn’t even feel like work. It’s worth it. All of it. Because it’s about the joy that’s found within the journey. The highs and the lows because I get to write stories for all of you.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, enjoying and recommending the stories that I write. When you share my work with others, nothing is more rewarding. Your word of mouth is my very best friend … that, and your reviews. There is nothing more important to me than all of you.

I don't think I can stress enough how DEEPLY in love I am with Iced! Even though I'm not really a sports fan, and I know next to nothing about hockey, I absolutely adored this book. Sweet, creative, funny, emotional, well-crafted story, great writing, entertaining, and HOT AF...it's definitely one of my top reads in a long time!

The main and secondary characters are all so well done, and they have a permanent place in my heart! From the very first scene, I immediately wanted to be friends with Gemma so bad! As the story progressed, I loved her more and more. Brielle and Gran too, I swear I want to be adopted by this family!

I giggled so much reading this book...from the hilarious conversations with Genghis Coon to the cougar-next-door Phyllis, the antics of the teammates and the adorable teasing between Gemma and Kane, Iced truly had me in stitches.

I was almost certain there was no way that Kane could ever deserve Gemma when we first met him, but oh my word that man changed my mind SO quick! There are not enough words to describe my love for him. Before Iced, I *never* would have thought I'd be swoony over a rich jerk athlete of any sort, but Kane redeemed himself thoroughly and is in my Top 3 Book Boyfriends ever now. This man made my knees WEAK!

The chemistry between Gemma and Kane is just phenomenal, and it was so easy to fall in love with them while they fell in love. They're just so absolutely precious together in every interaction. And the chemistry in the bedroom, WOW! I love steamy on-page sex scenes, and Iced *more* than delivers here. Every single one is fantastic, but the couch scene has to be my favorite...it was HOT AF and felt so real.

Bravo to Colleen Charles!

Hockey romances really are my favorite. Like, if it's a sports romance, I'll probably read it, but if it's hockey, I definitely will. Though this seems to be the last book in the series, it was my first and I really enjoyed it. I teared up at some points, (why was I literally crying on the MBTA?) and laughed a lot. It has all the best aspects of why I love hockey romances, well except the actual hockey part. Hockey is like the only sport I enjoy watching, but I hate reading it. I barely understand sports so have breakdowns of certain plays that have no impact on the plot, I just don't really care.
But Single Mom x Playboy ? SIGN ME UP! I loved them and their banter. I wish that Brielle's garbage father showed up a bit more to raise the stakes, but my heart broke for that little girl, so I'm glad once he was gone, he was gone.
Could use some editing of cutting down certain parts and building others up. But I loved this one.

“Iced” is a hockey romance by Colleen Charles, and it’s the seventh book in the ’Minnesota Caribou’ series but it can easily be read as a standalone story. I knew I’d enjoyed the work of this author before, but I was still surprised at how easily I was pulled into the story.

Kane is a 27-year-old player for the Caribou who’s been with the team for just about a decade; he was drafted into the NHL straight out of high school. He’s a good guy, but he’s immature and doesn’t believe himself capable of maintaining a relationship. He ends up in a position where his next contract with the team may not happen because they expect more from him than just his excellent hockey skills – they want him to finally start acting like an adult. Gemma is the single mother of a nine-year-old daughter. The father of her child is her immature ex-boyfriend who’s never shown any real interest in being a partner or a parent. He’s never paid a nickel and child support, and has never come through for her or their child. Money is always tight, so when her friend who’s married to a pro hockey player tells her that one of her husband’s teammates needs a new housekeeper, Gemma jumps at the chance to make some additional income. From their momentous introduction things move quickly into fake relationship territory. He needs a steady girlfriend so he looks more mature and stable, and she needs the extra money he’s willing to pay for her to play that role. Of course, the line between fake and real is quickly blurred.

I enjoyed the interactions and banter between Kane and Gemma, and between both of them and her daughter. The daughter is an excellent secondary character, as is his hilariously cranky cat. There’s more depth to both of them than you might expect. When Kane screws up and causes a lot of misery for Gemma and her daughter, he hurts himself as well. The grand gesture he pulls off in an effort to make amends will melt your heart. His teammates, their grandmothers, and all the assorted other secondary characters round this out with enough lightness to balance the seriousness of the story. I read this straight through the end and enjoyed it all.

Ok readers, I’m in LOVE!!!!! Kane was so much more than I could have EVER expected!! The layers to his character are deep and ready to be uncovered by the right woman. He’s a major player, never with the same woman, always on the prowl for puck bunnies, but never for anything long term. Normally this is not a character I can fall for. However, the character development done by Colleen Charles make it impossible not to deeply love him!! Not only does he prove to be a phenomenal boyfriend but he plays the role of stepdad pretty dang well too.

Kane is a player with a reputation for fights and puck bunnies. He needs an image overhaul and his friend thinks a fake relationship may be the way to go. Max is a fantastic best friend by the way. He brings tons of humor to this book. Gemma is Kane’s new housekeeper, friend of a friend, and single mother with a deadbeat ex. They agree on a mutually beneficial fake relationship. We romance readers know this is going to lead to real feelings.

These characters are absolutely fantastic! I couldn’t get enough of their story! Gemma’s love of making up lyrics to songs to match situations is downright hilarious. Kane’s attempts at being top boyfriend and step dad material are heart melting. The ending of their story literally made me cry! Both from humor and from the deep feelings that were expressed. There was even a surprise that I didn’t expect but had me happy crying. There isn’t a moment of this book that didn’t make me happy. Even the inevitable drama and problems that came up added so much to the story. I haven’t even mentioned the scorching hot steam of this book yet. These scenes do a fantastic job giving the readers the spice they are looking for while still building the connection between the characters. The very first spicy scene does so much to show that we are about to experience the layers of Kane. The subsequent scenes show the comfort that is building between them as things move from fake to real. There is so much to love about this book that it should definitely be the next thing that you read.

4.5 stars. Kane, the male lead, has been a player all his adult life and, having become a professional hockey player straight out of high school, has never had any problems. Now, his contract is under threat because his poor PR appearance.

Gemma, the female lead, was a teen mother who has been looking after her daughter solo because her daughter’s father is a jerk. Up until now, he kept dropping in and out of their lives but now he’s caused another pregnancy and just wants to sign over his parental rights.

Both of them need to improve appearances and a fake relationship seems like a great plan…until real emotions start to get in the way. But they’ve both got real emotional challenges to overcome…

This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a great reformed player romance. I enjoyed Gemma’s verve and entrepreneurialism. I enjoyed Kane’s hidden sweetness. I empathised with Kane’s family of origin issues and understood why he’d made the choices he had. I appreciated his self-development and his active choice to choose Gemma and her daughter. I enjoyed Gemma’s genuine care and devotion to Kane as well as her family of birth. I enjoyed the erotic intimate scenes and the actual relationship development incorporated in them. I enjoyed the secondary character integration. Whilst I haven’t read any of the other stories in the series, this story stood totally alone though I think it would have been enhanced if I’d read the others.

This was a single mother bad boy sports romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this sports/romantic comedy story. It was funny, steamy and heartwarming. The character development especially on Kane was very well done. Would definitely recommend.

Gemma Sorensen is a hard working entrepreneur with a nine year old daughter, Brielle. She owns an Etsy shop specializing in arts and crafts. The father of her daughter does not provide any support and has asked her to sign off on him giving up parental rights. She and Brielle live with her grandmother.

Kane Wilson is a defenseman for the Minnesota Caribou NHL hockey team. He is commitment averse and enjoys playing the field. He is owned by a Maine Coon cat named Genghis Coon. During his contract renegotiation he is told to revamp his image as a manho and fighter. He is in dire need of a cleaning lady.

They meet when Gemma's friend Cora asks her if she would be interested in a part time job cleaning his home. He is having a party for his friends and teammates that night and she works miracles getting the house presentable. He later asks her to come to the party. At the party his friend Max suggests the two begin fake dating to show he has improved his image. They have a few dates and then hook up. Their relationship transitions into a real relationship until he is injured and his pretentious father trash talks Gemma. She is hurt he doesn't stand up for them and breaks up with him. They eventually reconcile and get their HEA.

Kane Wilson has been given and ultimatum by his agent clean up your act or kiss your contract with the Caribou goodbye. Kane is freaked he was drafted write out of Highschool to play hockey sure he's a player and a little imature but he's 27 and the idea of a relationship even a fake one makes him want to hide and puke he's know for his puking good old mouth wash. Enter the new house cleaner and him all in the buff and you have a true romantic comedy.

Gemma Sorenson single mom with and etsy space and a ex who won't win father of the year anytime soon and did I mention that Gemma needs more cash flow her friend hooks her up all she has to do is clean up for one huge hockey player of a man child with a serly beast of a manecoon cat what could go wrong he's naked the first time they meet and his friend suggested they fake a relationship no strings attached that's until Gemma catches the feels for Kane Mr. Comitmit Phobe with parental issues granted his Dad is really awful but when Kane dosen't stand up for Gemma against his Dad he may have just lost the women he's figured out he loves.

These too mesh perfectly he's a Sci-fi nerd and she likes to make up words to songs there cute together he's more then he thinks he is and she rocks as a single mom loved the ending when Kane stands up too his Dad.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

This is book number 7 of the Minnesota Caribou series and focuses on Kane and Gemma. Kane is a professional player with the Minnesota Caribou who has gotten himself into some hot water with the press and his team. He has been living a stereotypical immature rich athlete lifestyle for years and has a tendency of getting himself into some trouble from time to time because of it. Gemma is Kane’s new house cleaner and a single mom to an amazing 9 year old daughter. With both of them needing help for different reasons, they strike up the deal of fake dating. For Kane it’s to improve his image and for Gemma it’s to avoid her ex. What started off as a mutually beneficial fake dating agreement moved from fake to real as they spent more time together and found that they each had qualities that drew them in. I love how much Kane grew as a person over the course of the story. He was definitely able to redeem himself as a partner to Gemma and as a man. I loved when he FINALLY stepped up to his dad and took charge of his life and what he wanted in his life. He finally went after what he wanted in life and ended up so much happier in the process. This was a great story and a great addition to the series.

Kane Wilson is a star hockey player for the Duluth Caribou with an image problem. His agent says he needs to clean it up soon or he won't be playing for the Caribou much longer. Gemma Sorenson is a single mom of a nine-year-old daughter, Brielle, with an ex who wants to sever his parental ties. She's in need of more work and her friend suggests she work as Kane's housekeeper since it could be long-term work. If there's anything that Gemma doesn't want is to be mixed up with a self-absorbed womanizer, but she needs the money. This could be beneficial to them both. Kane is shocked to see her when she arrives at his home; well, I guess it would be more appropriate to say that Gemma was shocked when she met him. Kane is intrigued by her quirky attitude and the fact that she's underwhelmed by him. They agree to fake date, but it turns into much more. This story is filled with endearing characters; a dirty-girl, cougar neighbor, a kick-ass gran, a precious daughter and the bewitching Ghenghis Coon! I loved Kane and Gemma together and their passion was off the charts, but the minute his father arrived with his insults and ultimatums, all bets were off. I didn't know if Kane would be able to redeem himself, but with advice from his teammates and their wives, he proved he deserved Gemma and Brielle. Fabulous story!

Minnesota Caribou Book #7

Kane Wilson is 27, a professional hockey player for the Caribou's and was drafted right out of high school. He's been told he needs to grow up and clean up his image and to stop making the wrong kind of headlines or he could lose his contract.
Gemma Sorensen is a single parent of a 9 yr old girl Brielle. Her ex boyfriend and father of her child wants to sever his parental ties and has been a lowlife the whole time. Gemma is doing everything she can to survive and get by and raise her daughter so when she's told about making some extra money being a house cleaner for Kane she figures why not, money's good.
They both need to pretend they have someone in their life and are in a relationship, so they agree to help each other out and to be fake dating. Kane doesn't do relationships more like one night stands so this should be a new one for him. Can they pull it off? They have the chemistry but there's more than just the 2 of them and someone could get hurt.

4 stars
I loved the bantering between them and of course the cat is hilarious.

Colleen Charles’ latest installment of the Minnesota Caribou Hockey series (Book #7) ~ Iced, is a wonderful, exciting, and emotional read with plenty of heart, heat, and sizzle to toast your toes and make you cry! Iced is the story of a single mother Gemma Sorenson, who lives with her grandmother and is raising her precocious 9-year-old daughter, Brielle (who positively steals the show from the other characters with her straight-forward, take no prisoner’s attitude, and tug-at-your-heart innocence). Gemma’s ex-boyfriend, Brielle’s father, has just re-entered her life to legally disown his daughter. The story develops a new trajectory when Gemma cleans the home of Kane Wilson, one of the professional hockey team player’s who is about to get cut from his team because of his womanizing and bar-fighting behaviors. Read this novel and learn what happens next. Be warned, this read will require a box of tissues and lots of A/C, but this book is a keeper that will light up your heart!.

I’ve never read anything from this author before but this was fun. The characters are a bit immature but in a good way. They both had a bad go at relationships of love and family. Gemma is a struggling, single mom with a absentee deadbeat baby daddy. Kane is a messy, man child who’s not parents weren’t warm or loving. They meet to help Kane clean his house and his image but they end up helping each other heal. Gemma has to learn that not all men are going to hurt and let her Brielle down. Kane has to learn to grow up and stick up for himself. This story is funny, immature and just an all around love able tale. It’s got some spicy to it as well as an HEA.

This was one of my favorite books by Colleen Charles! Kane is actually pretty sweet and swoony despite his reputation for being one night stands, bar fighting and adolescent behavior. He steps up and makes an effort to change his ways while fake dating:real dating Gemma.

Gemma is a tough single mom willing and determined to be the best mom for her daughter Brielle. I loved the Sorenson women - Gran, Gemma and Brielle.

Genghis Coon was awesome, and I loved the side characters. I laughed and giggled through much of the story, and then gasped at a few of the emotional scenes.

The ending is awesome and I’m hoping for future books in this series.

Fake Relationship

Kane is a NHL hockey player who’s image needs some improving. Gemma is a single mom who’s trying to avoid her ex at all costs. They strike up a deal to help each other out. Pretend to be a couple and he will protect her from her ex while improving his bad image. Kane will loose the bad boy hot shot persona for a more mature adult.

It was all supposed to be pretend but somewhere the line got blurry and they formed real feeling for one another. A very sweet sports romance with a tough alpha male and a damsel in distress. Overall, cute and enjoyable storyline with great characters.

Kane & Gemma

I totally love this series.

Kane is the perpetual bad boy, Peter Pan of the Caribous, so when his manager tells him to get serious if he wants to renew his contract because he's having a hard time renegotiating his friend and teammate, Max, comes up with a plan for Kane to have a fake girlfriend.

Enter Gemma a hardworking, single mother with a snarky sense of humor and an ability to make up song lyrics that reflect the situation she is in. She takes on the role of Lanes housekeeper and fake girlfriend. He gets to clean up his image and she has him keeping her deadbeat ex away from her. Deadbeat ex has new pregnant girlfriend who doesn't want his 9 year old in his life and he willingly signs over parental rights.

Great story, love the series- want more!!!

This is one of those books that just seems to solidly deliver everything you're looking for. A fun story, complex characters, deep emotions, chuckle inducing humor, and generous amounts of heat and heart combine into a book that once you pick it up, you're not going to want to put it down. I adored this couple. Kane and Gemma had me all up in my feels and left me totally swoony. They are the type of characters that are so easy to see pieces of yourself in. To say that they tugged on my heartstrings is putting it mildly. This is another wonderful entry for this series that never disappoints me. This is my volitional, forthright review.

Het begin was denk ik het leuks. De rest didn't make sense... Like zn imago? Oke.
Gelukkig verder geen drama met haar ex.. jeetje wat een klootzak.. if they can't make you come, they ain't the one.
Zijn vader was ook echt een lul! Ben blij dat hijzelf wel oke geworden is. Ondanks dat hij een enorme fboy was en bindingsangst heeft gekregen...
Er speelden diepe dingen af, maar we gingen er niet diep genoeg in...

Clean up or get out! That’s the choice Kane is given. He’s a rich, enticing, athletic man-child and a jerk but he has to change his ways if he wants to stay on the team.
Gemma is in a bind and needs extra cash, so she takes a job cleaning Kane’s house. Throw in a very cute kid, a very cranky giant cat, a hilarious first meeting and you are in for one heck of a great, fun read.
Needless to say Kane makes some serious improvements and we get a well deserved HEA. Sweet, funny, steamy and with some of the best characters I’ve had the pleasure to read, you’re in for a real treat.

This is Book 7 in the Minnesota Caribou Series by this author. It is a steamy sports romance between Kane and Gemma. These characters are likeable, the connection strong, the chemistry combustible, and the unique plot makes for an entertaining read. It is a bumpy ride with some drama, humor, steam, twists and turns, and engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. A fun read with a happy ending. It can be read as a standalone but you enhance your reading pleasure if you read the other books in the series.

Kane... his fighting and manwhore-ish ways are causing trouble with contract negotiations. He needs an image overhaul, including a relationship. Gemma... this amazing single mom is cleaning his house for some additional money. The last thing she needs is a relationship. The banter between them is priceless, and her descriptions of his dirty house are hilarious. Her silly made-up song lyrics... her adorable daughter, Brielle... his crazy cat, Genghis Coon... their mutual friends from previous books... All combine to take this fake relationship and turn it into one that's real and forever. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Gemma and Kane are my new favorite couple!! They are just what the other one was needing and they didn't even know it at the time! Kane Wilson is the big macho hockey player that is a bit of slob. His friend's wife sends Gemma over to clean his house for him. She can see through all of his crap, and calls him out on it, when no one else will. Gemma is a little standoffish and guarded because she wants to protect herself and her daughter from anything bad. They keep their feelings hidden from each other, but soon realize just how much they are in love with each other.

Funny, steamy, and sweet hockey romance!! This was an amazing read with amazing characters! There were many funny moments, and the comaderie between the friends is fabulous. Watching Kane and Gemma grow as people and together, and the way Kane is there for Brielle(Gemma's daughter) is heart warming. This was a great add to her series, however I feel it can be read as a stand alone. Great read, looking forward to more from this author!!.

Can this bad boy of hockey redeem himself in the eyes of the single mum?

I'm a sucker for ice hockey romance & the author delivered a 5 star read with Gemma & Kane's story. He's one of the top defencemen in the NHL that needs to overhaul his image or he may lose his contract. She's his temporary housekeeper & needs helping deterring an ex. Her solution is that they fake date each other. Will they cross the line from fake to real?.

Gemma and Kane decided to fake date to help him clean up his image and to help Gemma keep her sorry ex away. They just get along well and their personalities mesh. They also have mad chemistry. Kane is a complex guy in a pretty package. While he comes across as a tool, he’s really a nice man. Gemma takes the time to get to know the real Kane. Turns out that this couple is perfect together. Together they find true love. I really enjoyed this book.

This was a fun fake dating romance with very little angst, but plenty of sweet moments. Kane came from wealth, but it had a price. Then he was handed more right out of high school and never had to be responsible for anyone but himself. Gemma was the exact opposite and had to be responsible for not only herself, but her little girl. When the two spend time together, Gemma shows him what a real loving family is like and he can't help but fall in love. The trope has been done before, but the characters make Iced worth reading.

A cute sports romance story.

A cute addition to the Minnesota Caribou series! Kane is in desperate need of help cleaning his home when Gemma enters his world. She’s is just trying to make extra income and when she finds this new gig she gets more than she expects.what happen was a highly entertaining sports romance with likable characters and a cute storyline. I loved Gemma’s character she is fun, feisty and brings that unexpected to get Kane life better. This was an enjoyable addition to the series that doesn’t disappoint.

I loved this story. It was so funny. The characters’ personalities, their interactions, their thought—all excellent. Even the cat is awesome. Kane goes from the immature player to a true family man so fast. Gemma has some understandable insecurities from her past that she allows to get the better of her sometimes and Kane fumbles a bit from his own issues, but they see each other. Just can’t say enough good things.

Gemma is the single mom of a 9 year old girl with wisdom beyond her years. Takes up a job as Kane’s cleaning lady to earn some extra money.
I loved the Star Wars themed surprise birthday party and may have gone to one of those in recent years.
The adoption of Brielle had me in tears. I was a single mom when my husband and I started dating. He also did a step-parent adoption of my daughter. So this one hit me on a lot of levels.

I loved this book! Gemma and Kane are perfect. This story pulled me in from the first page and it never let me go.

Gemma was a spitfire from the start and fit Kane perfectly. I loved the relationship that developed between them. It was also great to catch up with other players and their wives from the team.

This book had steam, love, great supporting characters, and heart break. I was sad when it ended because I loved the characters.

I would recommend this book!
