THE TRUTH COULD SAVE HER ... OR DESTROY HER

Twenty years ago, Lucas Walker was seventeen, in love with Tansy Gerard --- and framed for the murder of Tansy's twin brother. Now he's back in New York, an ex-con, and worlds away from the Soho lofts and park-view penthouses in Manhattan's elite --- men like rich and powerful Carlton Sanford ... the man who framed him. And the man who's about to marry Tansy.

Lucas can't let that happen. Tansy is reclusive, ethereal --- lost in a world where her brother is still alive. Secret meetings with Tansy are a balm to Lucas's scarred soul, yet his very presence could shatter the illusion that keeps Tansy safe. But Sanford is dangerous. Lucas must take the risk and prove what really happened that fateful night. Or Tansy will be lost to him forever ...

A letter to Rod Stewart resulting in a Cinderella birthday for her daughter sowed the seeds of New York Times and USAToday bestselling author Jean Brashear's writing career. A lifelong avid reader, at the age of forty-five with no experience and no training, she decided to see if she could write a book. It was a wild leap that turned her whole life upside down, but she would tell you that though she's never been more terrified, she's never felt more exhilarated or more alive. She's an ardent proponent of not putting off your dreams until that elusive 'someday'—take that leap now.

Over fifty published novels later, the five-time RITA finalist and RTBookReviews Career Achievement Award winner has accumulated a whole passel of war stories to swap and loves nothing better than talking writing and books with readers and fellow writers.

And she'd still take that leap, war wounds and all.

Mercy

This book challenged my brain a bit. I enjoyed it, but it switched characters more often than I'm used to and I would have to backtrack a little at times to figure out which character it was. Still a good story and I liked it.

Another success Jean! I can definetly see another series in the making. Whether it be Sweetgrass or New York City - you make your characters so realistic and your style of writing places the reader amongst the family of characters. I highly recommend this author!

Too many words. I know doesn’t make sense but most of the words were insignificant to the story. The plot was good but I got frustrated wanting to stay in the core of the story. Hard to keep the interest in it.

Wow, what a story! Violence, tragedy, self-sacrifice, denial/fantasy, protection, strength and three love stories.

ARC for honest review with no compensation,

WOW so different from the Texas Hero’s series but what a well written, emotional book by Jean Brashear and hard to put a label on it. Some might say it’s a romantic suspense, but it has so many facets that I can’t decide….

Lucas Walker has spent the last 20 years in prison to protect the love of his life, Tansy Gerard and to protect her at all costs. When he finally gets out of prison and wants to move on with his life away from the turmoil of what happened 20 years ago, he finds he can’t move on because Tansy has been left in the make believe world of what happened that awful day and nobody helped her to come to grips with what happened so she is left to be in both the real world and make believe at the same time.

This story has many interlocking pieces, letter kept for 20 years, Tansy’s make believe world, her sisters and their problems, her father and his agent, Tansy’s kidnapping and the mystery behind the death of Tansy’s twin brother Paris.

Will Lucas be able to help Tansy and bring her back into the real world and solve all these mysteries of what happened 20 years ago or will he finally turn his back and begin his own life now that he is a free man????

Wow! I don't know what you would call this. Romance? Romantic Suspense? Psychology in familial relationships? It started out slowly and picked up speed by chapter three.

This book was so not what I expected. It was so much more. Lucas and Tansy's story is interwoven with her sisters, Mona and Kat. Mona and Kat each have their own stories with their significant others.

All of the pain, sorrow, confusion, and ugliness go back to a moment in time before Lucas, Tansy, her twin Paris, and her sisters were even born.

This book creates a whirlwind of emotions. There is so much going on, it sometimes seems like it is too much, like the emotions might be overwhelming, but they aren't.

Mercy is one book I HAD to finish. I didn't want to wait until the next day, so I read until the wee hours of the morning. It was difficult to write this review without giving anything away. This is not like the writer's Texas Heroes series. It seems more intense, a tad darker. I would definitely recommend it.

I only wish we could see what happens with Lucas and Tansy after the dust settles.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

This was an emotional read for me at times, but it was so worth reading. I absolutely love Lucas and the sacrifice he made for the woman he loves. This book is not just about Tansy and Lucas though. We also learn about Mona and Kat and their lives. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a romance that's unlike any other.

There are many adjectives that describe Ms. Brashear's writing, but in a word, Mercy is brilliant. Filled to the brim with such sensitivity, poignancy and passion, it leaves us in awe as we turn the pages. I don't believe authors should ever get pigeon-holed in a specific genre and when they write from their heart, their stories will always be treasures, no matter what.

Lucas Walker and Tansy Gerard had an exquisite love and friendship, that was destroyed in a heartbeat, when Lucas was charged with killing Tansy's twin brother. After serving 20 years, Lucas is days away from his release. When he learns that Tansy is going to be married to her father's friend and business associate, he realizes that he must find a way to keep that from happening.

This complex book, as far as I'm concerned, deserves the highest accolades for its unusual plot and fascinating characters. I fell in love with Lucas for his breathtaking substance and spirit and Tansy for her heart-wrenching vulnerabilities. Reading Mercy will restore your faith, if ever you lost it. Please read this extraordinary book! If I could give it 20+++ stars, I would.

A heartbreaking story of love, lies, betrayal, suspense, and truth. This is a very good story that keeps you interested from first page to last. It was great. I haven't read a book this good in awhile. They were in love. He took the blame to hide and protect. She believes a lie. Take it from there and read it. I consider it a must read. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

This book was not what I expected, but that is not a bad thing! I have read a few of Ms. Brashear's other works, but this book stood out. I'm not quite sure how to classify it, but I guess I'll go with romantic suspense...ish. This was a powerful and emotional read. I'm not sure I've read anything quite like it before, which is a nice change of pace since typical romances have seemed stale to me lately. The characters have a lot of depth and complexities, and it was great to learn more about them as the story progressed. There is a lot going on in this story, and I found that I preferred the main story to the sub plots. Overall, a very enjoyable book!

Who deserves the mercy, the one who did the deed, the one who was charged with the deed, the one who ignored the signs, or the one who instigated it? This is an interesting book and it doesn’t slow down. I recommend it for those who want to know the why of the story.
