The entire series is fascinating but the revelations in this one are absolutely head-spinning. Jayne and her sister are both facing some fierce enemies in this one, the worst of which is their own mother. Jayne is determined to find her missing father, adding realism to the fantasy that is the book’s genre. I enjoyed the interaction between the characters and the fast pace. I especially enjoyed Jayne’s quick wit and her sister Sophia’s abilities being discovered and used to thwart evil. I don’t read fantasy often but when I do, I read a Jayne Thorne book because the plot is well-woven together, intricate enough to hold my interest and includes complex and well-developed characters. This book is the third book in the series but can easily be read and enjoyed as a standalone.

I love this series! Jayne’s love of books really resonates with me. An incredibly fun and entertaining story. The way this story ended blew me away. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Jayne and company.

This is a good Continuation with more information and depth given about many of the characters. Many of the situations that occur are easy to guess before they happen, but still enjoyable book. Narrator does a Great job with the various characters voices and the entire storyline.

Oh heavens, I forgot how much I love Jayne! Well, in my defence, it's been a while since I've read the previous book and although I remember her fondly, I forgot just HOW fondly! I love her non conforming attitude, heck her attitude in general turns my lips involuntary into a smile. She has this knack of drawing havoc to her, and searching for a specific Grimoire together with her partner Tristan, all sorts of havoc ensues!
Tristan, arrogant, condescending, pompous Tristan, Jayne's words, not mine, I actually think he's cool, albeit a bit delusional. His agenda is a little suspect though, I know, I know, his background....and with his mom rivaling Ruth for mom of the year, let's just say, neither will be winning any mom prizes! Oh, sorry, Ruth just happens to be Jayne's and Sofia's mom..a mom who tried to kill her own daughters. What she's become is too horrific to contemplate, yeah Ruth, you play with fire, you're gonna get burnt!
But this, this, this.... complicated scenario between Jayne, Sofia and Cillian is KILLING me! I'm equally appalled, equally upset, equally in a mindspin at this situation! The pain I'm feeling for all of them is immense! You see, I LIKE Cillian, I LIKE Tristan and I love both Sofia and Jayne, so I'm not sure how I want THIS to pan out.... although, the enemy/partner playing out is actually quite comically, ummm, intriguing. Sofia, on one side of the world world with Cillian and Jayne on the other with Tristan, the.....developments are amusing and emotional. Not so amusing is how Sofia struggles to accept and access her magic, I get why she's reluctant but with what's descended on her, goodness, she gets a wake up call in a hurry! I'm constantly vacillating between, Jayne's my favourite, Sofia's my favourite, so I guess they've both captured me good and solid.
It was great to see Amanda playing a bigger role, my word, between La Liberte, the Kingdom and the non magical police, she certainly has her work cut out for her. Trying to keep the flames from engulfing all of them, while trying to preserve the Torrent, not an easy task when everyone wants to control the Torrent. And when things REALLY start hitting the fan and revelation after revelation is dropping like shrapnel, I'm left agog, wide mouthed agog! And just as I succeeded in closing my mouth, it dropped even further! These characters are simply divine, all of the above, the children, yes there are cool kids too, to Quimby, who reminds me so much of "Q", you know, James Bond Q, they're so delightfully real and feel like long time friends.
This book has everything going for it, the plot, the characters, the pacing, the storytelling, the tension, the mystery, the horror, the scheming, the magic, and best of all? There's libraries.... lots and lots of libraries and Grimoires, so yes, EVERYTHING! A highly addictive, enthralling, captivating and all round remarkable, breathtaking, phennomenal read!

This book deals with battles on two fronts, Jayne in Rome and Sophia in Argentina. Jayne is paired up with a person she despises, a former enemy and Sophia is with her Rogue Cillian. Jayne is trying to find an elusive grimoire and Sophia is trying to get an old friend of her father’s to join her cause.
There is plenty of action and adventure in both fronts as the sisters face sinister forces they’ve encountered before, with Jayne meeting up once again with the two psychotic mothers who run terrorist organizations, her own mother and Tristan’s.
You can read this book without reading the previous books in this series but you’ll be missing the background of these two sisters and how they came into the powers they’ve gotten now, so I would urge you to just get the previous two books and read this series from the beginning!
I really enjoyed all the drama and the fact that in the end, Jayne receives another totem and finds herself bounded to a Rogue who neither wants but have to accept nonetheless. The action is nonstop and you’ll be turning the pages just as fast as you can!
I enthusiastically recommend this series to all who enjoy reading action/adventure novels with magical
overtones to add to the excitement you’re reading!
This series just gets better and better and one can hardly wait until the next book comes out to continue this exciting story and see what happens next!

Action Packed Urban Fantasy
The 3rd book in Jayne Thorne, CIA Librarian, is jam-packed with adventure, action, and magic. Reading how Jayne and Sofia come into their powers together with Tristan and Cillian made for some excellent character development. Tristan, once an enemy, is now Jayne's partner on a CIA mission to find another necromantic grimoire linked to The Fire Goddess in Rome. Working together after being enemies and the still fresh memories of the torture endured by those she loves, Jayne must set that aside and bond her magic with Tristan to finish her mission.
Meanwhile, in Argentina, Sofia is learning her powers with Rogue Cillian, and the bonding experience is still in training with new revelations that are amazing tidbits.
The revelations are shocking, including one we know who actually had Guardian Magic and a huge secret that will all be revealed.
Tons of action as the team takes on the Terror Organizations trying to get the necromantic grimoire first is an adventure that has so many interesting pieces. I felt just as invested. The mole in the TCO is revealed towards the end, and I feel book 4 will expand on this. Joss Walker and R.L. Perez made an outstanding team to bring the Fantasy World into my thriller mind and want more of it. My favorite librarian. Excellent 5 star read even if fantasy and magic isn't your usual genre.

The Thorne siblings need to find Henry Thorne their father, who had been a guardian but who had disappeared, however they are sent to different countries by the CIA who they work for, on different missions. Jayne is sent to Rome with Tristan, a partner she cannot stand in search of a grimoire and a fire goddess, whilst Sofia is now partnered with Cillian, who is a shifter and who is her sisters ex boyfriend so the situation is tense in her case too. She is in Patagonia and both siblings are being hounded by their enemies, members of the terrorist organisations known as La Liberte and the Kingdom whose leaders are the evil and powerful Ruth Thorne, mother of the siblings and Gina Labelle, Tristan's mother, to top it all Hans Kaufman an ex guardian has become a traitor and turned against the guardians. This book is full of magic wielding, very tense and emotional episodes, a demon and a couple of goddesses plus sentient grimoires, all of which make for a very exciting read.

I absolutely loved this book. I have loved this entire series so far. This is book 3 is the Jane Thorne CIA Librarian series, and if you haven't read the previous 2 books, I definitely suggest you do. I loved submersing myself in this world and seeing as Jayne's powers grew and she learned more about them. Add in the broody Frenchman Tristan and I was all for it.
This book also brought more clarity about one of the side characters, Amanda, and I really enjoyed getting to know her better and learning more about her tragic back story.
Sofia, Jayne's sister was even more pivotal in this book and on her own, less connected to Jayne. It was nice seeing her come into herself more also.
I definitely recommend this book.
This book also brought more clarity about one of the side characters, Amanda, and I really enjoyed getting to know her better and learning more about her tragic back story.

I don’t know what it is about these books, but I thoroughly enjoy them. I think part of it is the way Jayne loves books and is a librarian, and that really dovetails with me. Anyway, this latest is a non-stop action-filled adventure with Jayne in Rome with Tristan trying to find a grimoire before their mothers, their enemies, do. We learn some interesting secrets in this one, and there is a fascinating reveal. I love how well-written and engaging this series is, and I am more than ready to read the next one in the series. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Two sisters both desperate to find their father, who had been presumed dead, but now has been in hiding for all those years.
So, as both are CIA operatives, they have also had to conform to the cases assigned to them.
Both are fighting the evil that wants magically enabled beings to control non magical beings.
It's a fit on multiple sites and against multiple players. All of which will stop at nothing to achieve their goals.

Another great installment in the Jayne Thorne series. This world is such a delight, in-depth and compelling. I love how all of the characters are developing throughout and how we learn nuggets of the world as they do. That type of exposition release is so satisfying because it really immerses you in the immediacy of the action. I cannot wait to see the continued expansion of the world. I cannot recommend this book (or this series) enough.

Jayne and Tristan are on a mission to find another grimore, while her sister, Cillian, and Amanda are are trying to help a Guardian protect one of the hidden access points to the Torrent. They are all in for big fights and also learning more about what their magic can do. These books are action packed, with great characters and storylines and I am really enjoying the series.

Jayne is my kind of librarian - a book dragon! I LOVED this instalment. Many things are coming together ... The world building is great, as is the character deveandvplot movement. Note there is some swearing; not egregious, and it fits into the dialogue appropriately. I received a free copy of this book, with no obligation.

Wow. Joss Walker did it again. I mean, there was never a dull moment. There was always something going on, moving the story forward. Wonderful layering of the new characters with the old. I loved having Sofia on the front lines, finally accepting her destiny. Jayne is so off the cuff with her magic but brilliant. She just has this instinct of what the right choice is. I can't wait for more.

J.T. Ellison (aka Joss Walker) fan here. And a fan of the previous Jayne Thorne/Guardians books. However, this book just could not keep my interest. Lots going on and the ending brings even more intense possibilities to the series. Only three-stars due to above lack of interest. My issue, I believe because the five-star reviews are well-done and make sense.

2.5 stars, rounded up to 3. I found this audio series at the library and it was a somewhat entertaining fantasy.
Jayne and Sophia's story is entertaining if a bit immature at times.
This is the last book in the series that is at my library and for now, I will stop listening to the series for now.
