Great read. Very touching story of the life of a Medium Psychic Healer and her guide, Grey Eagle. Rosemary born and raised in England had a harsh and cruel childhood filled with abuse and lack of love, marries hoping for love and gets deceit. Her troubles continue until friends show her her psychic powers are a gift not a curse, and teach her to accept and learn. The stories of those she helps are very touching, and will bring tears of joy to those of us who have lost loved ones and know they are still with us.

I really enjoyed reading about Rosemary's experiences, and the case book was especially interesting. I do not doubt that her experiences are true, as I have had many encounters with the spirit world myself, and a lot of the things she shares in her encounters are consistent with my own.

However, I learned the hard way long ago, when I was looking for a spiritual teacher to guide me, that just because a person is spiritual, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are enlightened. It was a shock to me when I realized that, as I was young at the time and expected to find gurus I could look up to. Now I understand that mediums, healers, and spirit workers are all just regular human beings like the rest of us, and they have their own flaws the same as everyone else.

So having said that, I want to say that I respect Rosemary Altea for her work, her role in this world and in the spirit world, and for the difference that she has made, but there are certain beliefs and principles that I don't agree with her about spiritual learning and understanding.

Also, while I enjoyed the case book and the stories about her experiences, I sometimes found her telling of them to be a little grating on me. Some people come across better in real life than on paper, so perhaps she's one of those people for me.

I’ve had this book for a while, but apparently according to Spirit, now was the time for me to read it.
Not knowing where in my big library of books I was to find it, spirit made it readily available for me, as it was sitting amongst my books for sale, as I own two copies.

It was disturbing to read about rosemarys childhood and family background, that made me sick and sad and heartbroken - and angry! But to read her testimony’s of how she helped bring other people healing and comfort, even in some of their darkest and hardest moments, was inspiring. And also how finally, people were showing her gratitude and recognition and she could shine, as just herself.
And so is life apparently; a mix of such darkness and harshness, but also of light and kindness and love, that traverses time and space.
Thank you Rosemary Altea, for how you have brightened the lives of others, shared your gift, and how much more of life there is, with the world.

I must also note, that reading-wise, or written-wise, it was sometimes a bit hard to follow along or read, the way the book was structured and written. Reading a translated version I have a feeling it made matters a little worse. But I still liked the book, overall.

Someone recommended I read this book suggesting that I might find comfort in the notion that even though people pass away, they are still with us and see us. I guess that part was kind of comforting but I thought the first part of her book where she talks about first seeing spirits and thinking that she was crazy was much more interesting than the latter part of the book when she talks about her spirit guides and all the rest of it. Better written than the book by John Edward.

HER FIRST BOOK, TELLING HER LIFE STORY, PLUS MUCH MORE

Rosemary Altea (born Rosemary Edwards) is a British author and medium. She wrote in the first chapter of this 1995 book, “I grew up in two worlds, one a world of ghosts and specters, as real as I was, the other a world where what was real was always something you could explain, or touch and see and show others so that they too could see. One world was terrifying, the other cruel and unhappy.” (Pg. 21)

She recounts, “My church, as I still like to think of it, is called the Church of Christ, and although I rarely visit Leicester these days, when I do and I drive past that small Baptist church and see the wall that I used to sit on with my pals, I feel a pull at my heartstrings. As a teenager, whenever I felt sad or alone, I would sit on that little wall and talk to God.” (Pg. 34-35)

She acknowledges, “On many occasions since I have become involved with the ‘paranormal,’ as it is called, I have witnessed mediums working in ‘trance,’ and I always ask the same questions: Is it real? Has that person really been taken over by some spirit entity who is speaking through them, or is the trance self-induced? Unfortunately, most of the time I have had to come up with the all-too-usual answer: that the ‘medium,’ consciously or otherwise, is faking! There are many reasons why someone might fake a trance state. Some people so desperately want to be mediums… not only to be able to communicate with the spirit world, but to be seen by others to have this ability… at the beginning of my development it was impossible for me to tell the fake trance from the real, both with myself and with other people. So the only way I felt I could make sure that I wasn’t being fooled, that that I wasn’t fooling myself, was to remain critical and in control of all situations.” (Pg. 40-41)

She explains, “I am often asked, How do I see these people, these ghosts from another world? Throughout this book and in the numerous stories I have told, you will see that there are many different ways. But I never see them as ghosts, as flimsy or intangible, as so many people imagine them to be. In fact, I believe from my many experiences that the spirit world is more real, more solid, than this earth in which we live. In truth, ours is a world of illusion… A ‘ghost’ is seen to walk or to pass through a wall. We presume that the ‘ghost’ has no real substance. Yet we know that in reality it is the wall that is not solid, that has no substance. Could it be, then, that the ‘ghost’ is more real, more solid, and therefore able to pass through the wall because THE WALL is merely an illusion?” (Pg. 81-82)

She observes, “Most spiritualist churches run on a shoestring, and speakers go around the country, working without pay, claiming only traveling expenses. All of the churches I have ever worked in support themselves on a voluntary basis, and this church was no exception…” (Pg. 96)

She states, “Animals also survive death, and for those of you who are animal lovers, or have had a loving and caring relationship with one or more of God’s small creatures, I can tell you that many times I have seen animals in the spirit world, dogs, cats, birds, and so on.” (Pg. 111)

She asks, “But do we all journey toward the light? Does God accept us all? Even those who have committed evil deeds? It is my belief, based on my experience, that the answer is YES. I do not believe that anyone who wishes to be embraced by the light is ever turned away.” (Pg. 134)

She asserts, “It is also possible for those in the spirit world to see farther then we can, and so they are able to give help and advice concerning the future. And part of my pleasure comes from being able to help set people on the right track, of watching as enlightenment dawns with the knowledge that not one of us is alone and without aid of one kind or another. Even when the outlook for the future is not so good, those in the spirit world are able to give good and sound advice that will often ease a situation, giving strength and hope that the bad times will not last forever.” (Pg. 150-151)

She says, “The power I possess, combined with the power of the universe, enables me to be what I am, to dare to be, to dare to be myself. I have made a vow a promise to God, to the universe, to all of those in the spirit world. I made this vow a long, long time ago, and it is this. Whatever you may call it, this power that I have, this gift to see, to hear, to communicate, to travel, to heal, I will use this power for good and in the way that the universe demands is the right way---in a way that will heal and ease hearts, bring joy and light and, I truly hope, enlightenment.” (Pg. 240)

She suggests, “Each of us is born with the light within us, the light that is the light of the soul. If we choose to recognize and to nurture this light, then, when we die, we will go to the light, to be embraced by it. If we choose to live in darkness, while on earth or after death.’ if we choose to allow the light to diminish, then we choose a dark place. But always it is our choice. I am saying that there are no fires of hall unless we choose it to be so.” (Pg. 262)

This book will be of keen interest to those studying mediums, and similar spiritual topics.

This has to be the most profound, insightful and inspiring books I’ve ever read on the afterlife. I’ve read so many books like this but this one answers questions I didn’t even realise I wanted to ask. Love her honesty also - not afraid to go into a lot of detail. It’ll be a long time before I read anything like this again because this book will be hard to live up to 🤗

This is a great story told by someone who spent her life as a medium and a healer. I am fascinated by both and write many fiction books about the subject, but reading a first hand account is really amazing.

Google her...she appears to be an absolute fraud who uses her services to amass wealth. So, this book is essentially fiction....not to be trusted.

If you take it for what it is, someones sharing of their own experiences, it is quite enjoyable, uplifting and inspiring.

I liked this book and found it interesting, and I loved the stories about the people she had read. Other from that, I found it a bit of a slog.

To be honest I struggled to take aspects of this story seriously which detracted from my interest in it and made it a harder read than I anticipated and hoped for. No offence intended to Rosemary but they always have grand and lofty guides and not someone more relatable to most people. There were enough times to be noticed where Rosemary's account of her experiences contradicted themselves which made her story hard to believe in places. Its still worth a read though.

I felt at home reading Rosemary's story. If you have a potency with spirit or energy, you will find a friend in Rosemary and a healing power in her shared story.

A mí me gustó mucho.
