I read this bad boy in less than a day! It was DARK, INTENSE and oh so dirty! Just how I love them!

Coming home, facing her past to keep herself safe from someone who has found her despite all the things in place to not allow that happen. She runs from one threat into the arms of 4 darker ones. Ones who aren't ready to allow her to have redemption. That must be earned after all that she has done. Some want to bring her pain without the pleasure, some want to help her find her true self that is hidden in her soul and some want to guide her to find comfort in things that are out of the norm.

I'm not sure who I like out of these guys -the brothers, the detective or therapist. I think I'm leaning towards Oliver and Paul. I loathe Davis!

This story is wild. It's gritty. It's sexy and captivating. The allure is for sure there.

Ok so this one was better than the previous book. You get to find out why they behave the way they do so certain things do make more sense.

I’m not quite sure who proofread or edited this book but there are so many spelling mistakes and wrong word placements it feels like an essay someone did at school before spell checking it and at times that became really annoying!

This one was really good as well. I didn’t know how the characters would get back together after the ending of the first, but they wasted no time. The character interactions in this one I enjoyed a lot more. This one also ended on a cliffhanger as well and I’m so excited to read the next one. The character arc of Katie is becoming really interesting especially at the end of this one.

This one took me a while in theory, but in actuality I was just super stressed the past three weeks and barely had time to read. In reality, I read this in about 3 days, on Goodreads it says 21. Alas, we persevere.

The first one is more true crime leaning and this one is literally just smut, but I feel like we’re finally digging a little deeper on the characters motivations and their personalities, so no complaints from me! This book was hot with a capital H! Absolutely loved all the kinks explored and the sexuality explored by literally everyone.

Super excited to see how this wraps up in the final book, especially after that cliffhanger!

I can not with these

These books feel very much like the epitome of a guilty pleasure. I know I shouldnt love it like this but I do and I wont stop. If cliffhangers and unanswered questions were lethal then these authors would be seriously dangerous. So I'm just gonna be here, on the very edge of my seat waiting for the next installment.

Oooh, does Katie come home

Kate rejoins the fold, and it is brutal. Does she want forgiveness? Does she get forgiveness? Does she burn the entire family down? You must read this to find out!! Definitely a must read.

PUSHING BOUNDRIES

I'm not sure whose boundaries were pushed more.... mine or Katie's but dear lord, I may need church after this. I absolutely love the storyline in this series but really wish it wasn't so rushed. Once again spicy x100!

This is a the second part of a very twisted story. My first thought was, and still is, actually a warning. This story contains a lot of material that would definitely trigger some people. There were moments throughout that I felt I needed to take a break from all the craziness. If you are going to read this, be aware that this is not a HEA type story. This is a raw, gritty, danger-filled, traumatic, scary story filled with so much sin that you will probably never be the same after reading it.

Having said all that, I admit there were some parts that were very interesting. I like that, even with everything Kate had to endure throughout, she managed to find a way through it all. Her tomentors are now her teachers, or conditioners rather. They have each grown to like her in some way, even if their idea of expressing those feeling still baffel me.

It was interesting, and sometimes unsettling, to watch what Katie had to endure and give up to make amends with her 'tormentors'.

******************************************************************

In the second part of the story Katie learns that being in Witness Protection isn't as safe as she thought. After learning this, she heads back to the waiting arms of the very same people she was trying to escape, back the the arms of those she betrayed.

Now that they have Katie back at Davneport Manor, they teach her exactly where her place is and all the skills she needs to be one of them. Jack rejoins the group after being released from prison as well. This part of the story allows us to see much more of the guys that exist behind the cruel facades. They all of super dark streaks inside them, each one needing a different flavor of 'fun' to satisfy them. Katie is being 'trained' in all of them.

Davis is the cruel one. Of course, they all have cruel streaks, but his is more pronounced because he doesn't trust her regardless of what she does to earn back their trust. Davis is the one who tests Katie's threshold for brutality, her ability to give and recieve it. At this point, I think his feelings for Katie are mostly made of lust and distrust.

Paul is the manipulative one. He acts so clinical and calm, even seeming sweet and charming sometimes, but he is still cruel in his own way. He's the one who pushes her boundaries and tests her limits of pain. I think his feelings for Katie are a bit clinical. He desires her on a carnal level, but he mostly wants to test her. Though, once he lets his carnal beast loose, we see a whole new side to him.

Oliver is the semi-sweet one. He's gentle with her even when he's being cruel. He doesn't subject her to pain and brutality. Instead, he is the one who teaches her restrain and the art of depriving oneself and others. Oliver is the first one to admit that his feelings for Katie go well beyond just lust or the desire to possess and own her. He actually is in love with her. He wants her to be his in more than just one way. He wants her mind, body, soul and heart.

Jack is the biggest enigma of the group. He is the dark and brutal killer. The one that scared me the most in the beginning of the story, but now he seems to have mellowed a bit. At least in regards to Katie he has. He admits to wanting her to be his, to wanting her to desire himself because she wants to, not because she has to. I think his feelings for her run much deeper than we have seen. I believe he loves her the most out of the group but, due to the trauma of his past and the years since, he isn't sure how to express or even accept those feelings for what they are.

I'm looking forward to seeing if Katie survives her injury and how the men react to her getting injured. I'm also interested to see how they go about finding their mom's killer and who it turns out to be

Again, I caution anyone who is going to read this to be aware that this story contains a lot of material that could and probably will be triggering for some. It raw, gritty, brutal and sometimes I had to take a break to recoup from the feelings it caused in me.

Kate is back at it again being unable to escape her stepbrothers or their friends once more. It seemed like it would be a cake walk once she was placed in witness protection to avoid them for the rest of her life even if it was destroying her family back home to see Jack in jail for a crime he didn't commit. Kate was content to let him rot until the Binder came back and threatened her. All of a sudden she is calling up Oliver and begging for their protection. Why in the world would they ever even consider protecting her with the way she betrayed them? Also, why would she choose to go to them instead of going to the FBI and tell them she is receiving death threats? That part of the book was a head scratcher when it first happened but throughout the story we start to get a little more insight into Kate than what she presented at first. She secretly loves the abuse she is subjected to, which is not surprising since that was really her first sexual experience. She is afraid to want what they provide and in doing so rages against it to the extent of stabbing them in the back to get away from them. Kate is frustrating. Girl, either you love the way they treat you or you don't. You can't have it both ways.

I did like seeing a lot of them start to soften a little with her and it becomes more apparent why they treated her the way they did (or even still do). Paul is a mental man. He wants to creep into her head and make her realize who she is even though she wants to deny it. He forces her to think about how she is treated and why she should accept it instead of raging against it. Jack sees her as an innocent doll that needs to be hardened. She needs to be stronger and he pushes her and pushes her until she had no choice but to strike back. He turns her from a meek mouse into someone to be reckoned with. Oliver has always been the softer of the two brothers but he knows that Kate does not seek out comfort from anyone and it has eaten away at her. He forces her to confront this and to learn to come to him when she needs to be calmed down instead of internalizing it and being destructive. And Davis... I don't know about him. I think he's still teetering on the edge of things but I think he wants her to be a vital part of a team and not just a liability so he tears her down so she will feel she needs to prove him wrong. I don't like Davis.

I may have been critical of the first book in this series and was glad to see a little more growth in the second. Like with my realizations about the men and what they were really after, I realized that the authors were trying to hold a few things close to pull their readers along a rollercoaster ride. You are meant to hate all the men in the first book and then in the second realize what they were truly doing. You were meant to see Kate as a sad victim before watching her build herself up into a strong woman. I am curious what the next book will hold.

3RD BOOK COMES OUT NOVEMBER 30, 2022. This series is super dark and super confusing because most of the time i don’t get the mission of the guys and the work they claim to be doing to help the community. They kill bad men who hurt women but hey they consistently hurt their sister and mentally and physically abuse her. They say they are teaching her lessons and training her and she does seem to like it most of the time but she also doesn’t always seem happy so i get kind of confused how I’m supposed to feel while reading this book but i also kind of loved that haha. This is why i love reading because you can feel so many different emotions through a book about the story and about it’s characters.

Anyways this series starts with the stepsister coming back to live with her brothers, her mom, and their dad. She has been away at college ever since they attacked her and all hacked off on her face after she snuck upstairs on them back in high school. They warned her to stay away so when she didn’t they said they had to punish her. She lost her virginity that night to one of her stepbrothers, oliver, but no one knows i don’t think besides his brother jack. Davis is the detective of the friend group while Paul is the towns therapist. With their connections they help eachother find bad men who hurt women. They have been hunting their mothers killer along with the binder, the towns serial killer. They find out after investigating that there are two of them and they are brothers. They get attacked in the woods by one of the brothers and jacks is able to kill him. The next morning after they had sex she turns everything on jack and blames him as the binder killer. The fbi puts her in protective custody and she goes away for 3 months. She stays away from the brothers who are pissed at her for blaming jack until the binder sends her pictures of herself sleeping and she asks oliver for help. Oliver agrees to help as long as she agrees to bring theirs, mind, body, and soul and she has to tell everyone she lied about jack. Which she does and the whole town turns against her but they agree to protect her. The judge does make her go to counseling with Paul as her punishment. The men basically just spend the second book using her and demanding things of her. But they also say towards the end that it was all for her training and to get her ready to kill the binder when he comes for her. Anyways since her “lying” about jack her mother has been in shambles so Kate throws a party to get everyone to like her family again. Well during the party the binder sneaks in and attacks her. She finds him off and right when the guys find her she attacks him but not before he shoots her in the stomach.

REVIEW:

I enjoyed the second book in the series! It’s entertaining and thrilling and sexy.

Kate might not be the brightest crayon in the box though. She’s kind of a dumb dumb. But she’s not annoying enough to put me off the story so whatever.

I still like the guys though and their crazy asshole ways. I do wish Paul got at least one POV though, but he doesn’t in this book though, which was kind of weird.

As far as theories go, now I’m suspecting Paul’s dad as the one who killed their mom. He’s totally suss! And I think he’s over-drugging her mom too. It all just seems so weird.

The sex in these is steamy but I’d definitely love some more group action going on. The scene with Oliver/Kate/Jack was super hot though.

Overall another great installment. It’s another cliffy too so I’m excited to jump into the next one to see how it all turns out!

P.S. Was hoping for some m/m in this one (like was hinted at in the first book), but no m/m in this one! :( We will see what happens in the final book!

Dark, Thrilling, and Unpredictable

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

OMG, what a thrill! Captured by My Stepbrothers, the second installment in the Family Confessions series by A.K. Rose & Angel Lawson, takes readers on a dark and twisted journey that will leave you breathless. Let me start by saying, if you're not prepared for a rollercoaster of emotions and intense themes, this book might not be for you.

As someone familiar with the authors' work, I dove into this book expecting a wild ride, and I was not disappointed. The story picks up from where the first book left off, plunging us deeper into the lives of the Davenport brothers and their intricate, often disturbing world.

This is not your typical romance or light read. It's dark, depraved, and filled with thrilling horror elements that kept me on the edge of my seat. The authors do not shy away from exploring taboo topics, and they do it with a rawness that adds to the overall intensity of the narrative.

One of the aspects that both intrigued and challenged me was the complex dynamic between the characters, particularly the Davenport brothers and their relationship with their sister. The vigilante angle adds another layer of complexity, blurring the lines between justice and vengeance in a way that makes you question your own moral compass.

Overall, Captured by My Stepbrothers is a gripping read for those who enjoy dark, psychological thrillers with a touch of forbidden allure. Just be prepared for a wild ride that will challenge your perceptions and leave you eagerly anticipating the next twist in this captivating series.

📚 Title: Captured by My Stepbrothers
👩‍💻 Authors: A.K. Rose & Angel Lawson
💀 Chaos Rating: ★★★★★ (5 Skulls)
🌶 Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 (5 Chilly Peppers)

My Blog: https://markedandmorbid.wordpress.com/

Review:

Y’ALL. This book?! Absolutely unhinged in the best way. 5 skulls. 5 chilly peppers. No notes.

I’m feral. I’m obsessed. And I’m currently booking my one-way ticket into the twisted world of the Watkins brothers.

The suckling kink?! Do not even get me started. I didn’t expect to be blushing this hard while also cheering for revenge and healing. The layers of trauma, desire, chaos, and power shifts? Whew.

Her relationship with Ollie is pure fire. 🔥 The tension. The broken pieces fitting just right. But I also love how she balances the heat with Jack and Paul — it’s spicy but emotional, too. I’m deeply intrigued to see how things develop with Davis in the final book. There’s so much unspoken tension building there.

They’re inching closer to unaliving the last Watkins brother and honestly? I’m here for it. Justice, rage, and spice all wrapped up in one hell of a ride.

If you haven’t read this yet and you’re into:

Reverse harem

Dark themes

Trauma healing through intimacy

Found family (with knives)

Smut with a plot (and then more smut)

...then RUN, don’t walk.

I’ll be buying the pretties that A.K. is slinging, because let’s be real — I devour everything her and Angel drop. These two know how to write messy, sexy, damaged, and addictive.

Final thoughts:
Captured? More like ensnared — and I loved every second.

After the cliffhanger from book one, I couldn’t wait to see how the second installment in the series would pan out, and it was brilliant! There were twists and turns throughout this book - that had me hooked. The development of relationships between the four MMC's and Kate was 🤌 and unlike the first book, it wasn’t all angry and tense. There was lots of teasing, edging, and even some tender moments. Don’t get me wrong, there was still degradation and depravity, but it was great to see the characters grow.

--
The one thing I didnt quite understand about this book, Kate was in witness protection to keep her safe from her stepbrothers and their friends, yet at the first sign of danger, she runs back to them. It doesn't make any sense, and considering the feds were on her side? I just didn't get it. But she returns home and rights her wrongs, tarnishes her reputation by recanting her testimony, but will she live to regret her decision?

So I think this sequel to Angel Lawson and A.K. Rose's "Hunted by my Stepbrothers" is actually quite different from the first book. I think the authors made all of their characters more rounded, while the first book felt more like watching a horror movie with more loosely drawn characters. Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoyed this episode-feel of the story, which is published in episodes on Kindle Vella. But in this sequel Kate's relationship to all four guys and the rest of the characters gets more fleshed out and developed. This makes especially her scenes with her brothers and also Paul more intense. Davis, however, is still slightly aloof and not as interesting as Jack, Oliver and Paul.

About the story: After getting Jack falsely arrested in book 1, Kate is living in a small beach town as part of her witness protection program. But Ryan's (one of the serial killers of The Binder-Duo who Jack killed at the end of book 1) brother Christopher Watkins has hunted her down. Panicked Kate makes a rash decision to seek protection from The Binder....

This sequel has, as I said, less horror-sequences, but I liked how Davis and Kate got to explore Marcus' mansion. Also, it was interesting to read more about the Davenport house with its secrets. Kate's whole situation in there (and this time with her mother and step-father present) reminds me of V.C. Andrews books - where young girls are often trapped in creepy homes with weird and scary family dynamics.

I am really interested to see how the series will continue and end (if the next book is really the final one). The hunt for Jack and Oliver's mother's killer is still not finished and I like how the authors set up many red hearings but also (probably) clues so far. I wonder about Paul's dad and at one point I also thought about Paul (as in one scene he was strangely omitted), but Marcus also seems very suspicious. So yeah, I really cannot wait for the next book!

There's a lot of hypocrisy, even if you ignore the lack of realistic reactions from every character.
I really don't understand what all the fuss is about getting together with a step sibling. I don't believe sleeping/marrying a stepsibling is 'Scandalous!' unless they grew up together (from an early age) & have thought of each other as brother/sister. Otherwise, it's just a bit strange, & who cares if people think that. Nothing wrong with strange.
But I understand that in some overly repressive circles, it is considered a 'taboo' - But in those circles, nearly everything is & often the upper echelon is doing it & a lot worse ie break laws.
The only issue, as I see it, is the awkwardness of having to keep seeing each other at family occasions/events, etc, if it doesn't work out, but that can be sorted with time.
Nevertheless, I don't think calling each other brother/sister or stepbrother/stepsister is sexy at all. Defining the relationship in those terms makes it seem incestuous, which it isn't & is very off-putting. I also don't like women calling their male partners 'daddy' (or 'zaddy') it really weirds me out.

great series that keeps you wanting more

I really wasn’t sure when I read the first book if I would even continue the series. But the ending threw me off so much that I decided it was worth continuing. I’ve actually enjoyed this book a lot more than the first, which is unusual because I feel like the middle book in a three part series is usually kind of filler.

I do find the writing style to be somewhat juvenile and I noticed that there are a lot of grammatical errors in the text. I think that’s what makes the difference between this being a good book series and a great book series. Just for an example there’s a chapter in this book called Davies, from his perspective, but then the author talks about Davies in third person instead of first, and then I realize that she meant to say Jack. So the grammatical error is kind of kill me and if it happens once fine, but it’s happened multiple times and I really feel like getting an editor to go through and fix some of these mistakes would be super beneficial.

Unpacking the Drama: Book Two of the 𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 Series

Book two of the 𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 series pulls no punches, diving straight into the messy aftermath of betrayal, secrets, and fallout. I devoured this story, desperate to know how the characters would navigate the consequences of their actions, particularly Kate, whose betrayal left Jack, Oliver, Paul, and Davis reeling. Let me say, I’m not a fan of Kate. Her actions were selfish and caused untold damage. At this point, I can’t imagine her redemption. Still, the book does an excellent job of showing that actions don’t occur in a vacuum. The ripple effects are massive, heart-wrenching, and thought-provoking.

The pacing is intense, keeping the reader hooked. The writing explores themes of forgiveness, self-discovery, and accountability without becoming heavy-handed.Instead of providing easy answers, the story challenges the reader to engage with intricate moral dilemmas. While Kate’s choices made her a tough character to root for, her journey is compelling enough to keep me turning the pages.

If you enjoy emotionally charged stories with complex, flawed characters, this book is a must-read. On to the final book.

Loooovvve this series

this series is so addicting. It picks up where book 1 left off. Kate is in witness protection after framing her brother as the Binder. She is living her life and thinking her step brothers and their friends. She wakes up one day and finds pictures and a note from the brother of the binder. She makes a deal with Oliver, her stepbrother, to recall her statement so that Jack can be released from jail. She has to admit to her relationship with her step brother and is forced into mandatory counseling with Paul. Davis is still on the force and is helping the brothers with their search for the binder.

The book was so good and the smutt was extra hot. This book was a page turner and I absorbed it.

After Katie lied about Jack and sent him to jail she went into hiding until the trial. But when the binder found her she asked for their help. The guys didn't trust her but agreed to help her as long as she followed the new rules. While she thought that they hated her and used her, without her knowledge they were training her to be a hunter like them. Their lessons worked out perfectly. She craved the darkness and found out who she truly was. The only thing left was to stop Binder forever.

I usually don't like books that are so dark but for some reason, I keep coming back for this series.
I like how much Katie has evolved and Jack also changed so much, he shown a more vulnerable side.
I still dislike Davis he is such a jerk. My favorite moment in this book was the ending.

Captured. Sigh.
I really love to hate these guys. Especially Davis.

“Jesus, Katie. Never in my wildest dreams would I foresee you becoming this.”
“Become what?” I ask, watching him as he flicks the cooled ice off my nipple.
“My darkest fantasy.”

The action in this one was great and I am so invested in what will happen next!
These guys get worse and better with each book but they are perfect for Kate either way lol.
I love all of their dynamics.

I must confess, I read or listened to all three books before coming to review so I’m being vague as to not spoil anything.

If you’ve read and enjoyed either author before, you’ll like these books.

I wasn’t sure I even wanted to start this after I finished the first one but I did. It started better then I thought it would and the story wasn’t to convoluted but, dear book gods! Please someone edit this! That is my biggest complaint for this and book one. They have potential, they were written for Kindle Vella and it shows in some of the writing, such as mixing up characters talking and events that took place and who was do in the original scene. Over all I’m glad I gave this a chance and will be waiting for book three’s release and hopefully an edit for smoother reading. Would definitely read again if this happened.

Pure adrenaline

This book did not go the direction I thought it would at the end of book one. I wondered what they were all going to do about the loose end, Christopher. But why didn’t he just grab Kate to begin with when he took her picture when she was still in witness protection?
And what a crazy arrangement with Oliver! That is a huge price to pay. I’m actually surprised that the other guys went along with it. Especially Davis. He seems like such a loose cannon.
As things started to change, you just never know what is real or just an act. Hard to tell how things are going to go moving forward. I’m anxious to see.

I TOLD YA’LL IT WOULD COME BACK TO BITE HER IN THE ASS… I will admit tho, her punishment from the guys was TAME. They could’ve done soooooo much worse lmao.
The scene at Club Hades- specifically the group scene with Kate, Oliver & Jack was HOT AS HELL. Goddamn. One handed read for sureeeee.
Something suspish is happening between Kate’s mother and Paul’s father- I mean the guy is a creep and Kate’s mother is beyond drugged up. I’ve just got an icky feeling about those two.
And that goddamn cliffhanger man, I was just about ready to throw up. I knew Kate had it in her but fuck, I didn’t see that shit coming.

well I liked Katie a little better in this book

I still don’t totally like Katie, but I love the guys and their mission. By the end of book 2 I started to like Katie a little bit and hopefully in the next book I will like her a little more. I was thinking that Derek might be the boys mom’s killer, but he has known the family so she would have known him and wouldn’t have had to tell him she had kids. Wonder if Hades is their mom’s killer? Can’t wait to find out in the next book.
