Holy Cow! Mind-blown! I didn’t think Danah Logan could top In the Dark, but somehow Out of the Dark is better! Just when you think you’re on the cusp of getting all the answers, Danah throws you another bone, a small piece of the larger puzzle. There was more than one time while reading book 2 where I was left absolutely confused by the larger mystery surrounding Lilly.
In book 1 we know there’s a mysterious Him who kidnapped Lilly when she was younger. In book 2 we learn his identity and I was not ready for the revelation. I knew from the subtle hints who the mysterious Him was, but what I didn’t expect is his connection to Lilly. In this book, we dive deeper into the identity of Lilly’s parents and get introduced to another unknown character, Her.
I cannot believe this is Danah Logan’s debut series. Danah has managed to convince me the villain doesn’t deserve to be treated like the villain, that he’s deserving of redemption. Without spoiling too much, let’s just say I wasn’t fully ready to love Him, quirks and all, as much as I do.
Lilly and Rhys’ relationship also progresses in this book. Lilly and Rhys are not hiding their love for each other and are much more open about their feelings, whereas, in book 1, there was a lot of secrecy in their relationship. Wes and Den also have a lot going as they’ve been dragged into the events of Lilly and Rhys’ lives. I know the author has books for these characters planned and I’m really looking forward to seeing things unravel from Wes and Den’s perspectives.
Out of the Dark brings us answers, but also questions surrounding the events in Lilly’s past. Suspense, mystery, intrigue, and romance. This book has it all and I’m looking forward to the conclusion of the series because I can’t wait to see the epic ending Danah has in store for us!
