Kasey Michaels is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of more than 100 books (she doesn't count them). Kasey has received three coveted Starred Reviews from Publishers Weekly, two for the historical romances, THE SECRETS OF THE HEART and THE BUTLER DID IT, and a third for contemporary romance LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY (that shows diversity, you see). She is a recipient of the RITA, a Waldenbooks and Bookrak Bestseller award, and many awards from Romantic Times magazine, including a Career Achievement award for her Regency era historical romances. She is an Honor Roll author in Romance Writers of America, Inc. (RWA)

Kasey has appeared on the TODAY show, and was the subject of a Lifetime Cable TV show "A Better Way," in conjunction with Good Housekeeping magazine, a program devoted to women and how they have achieved career success in the midst of motherhood (short version: "with great difficulty").

A highly praised nonfiction book, written as Kathryn Seidick, "...OR YOU CAN LET HIM GO," details the story of Kasey and her family during the time of her eldest son's first kidney transplant.

Kasey has written Regency romances, Regency historicals, category books including novellas and continuities and a few series "launch" books, and single title contemporaries. She has coped with time travel, ghosts, trilogies, the dark side, the very light side, and just about everything in between. Hers is also the twisted mind behind her ongoing Maggie Kelly mystery series starring a former romance writer turned historical mystery writer whose gorgeous hunk of a fictional hero shows up, live and in color, in her Manhattan living room – to melt her knees, to help her solve murders, and to leave the top off her toothpaste. And, says Kasey, she's just getting started!

Series:
* His Chariot Awaits
* Lion On the Prowl
* Crown Family
* London Friends
* Chandlers Request

This wasn't my favorite. I sort of felt like I couldn't believe the relationship between the h/h. It was sort of there to be there. But there wasn't much behind it. Not sure why. But clearly there is a goal here :).. to get to the last book so some won't catch me as much as others.

Spencer Becket returns home from the war having lost a portion of his memory. It doesn't seem to matter much to him until a fiery redheaded woman appears at his home late one night, announcing that he is the father of her unborn child. Being the honorable man that he is, he immediately, unquestioningly, insists that they marry.

Instrumental in keeping Spencer and the other soldiers alive after a deadly battle during the war, Mariah Rutledge is a survivor. So when she finds herself alone and pregnant after the men desert her, she sets out to find Spencer Becket, the baby's father.

Although theirs is a relationship based on propriety, Mariah and Spencer's attraction for each other grows with each encounter. Mariah likes the Becket family but worries that they are involved in illegal activities which could endanger her and her baby. When Spencer refuses not only to confide in her but outright lies to her, she takes steps to find out what's going on, on her own. Can their growing love survive once the secrets all are known?

A Most Unsuitable Groom is the fourth in the Beckets of Romney Marsh series.

Kasey Michaels has created characters that are endearing and fun. I have only one more to go. I have read this series a little out of sequence but it still comes together well.

More like 2 and Half stars.

I had a really rough time with this. Maybe because I came into the characters and the backstory four books in. Maybe because I never really got enough time to like the characters. Maybe because I got no fucking answers in the book.

For starters, there's basically no character info. Just here they are, she's pregnant, fix it. I got no real feel for either of their personalities except for that they're both incredibly stubborn and stupid. The two of them fought the same argument every chapter. They seemingly fell into love out of no where, just one minute she's all against being a pirate and the next chapter she's trying to earn her way into the family by any means necessary.

The mystery was not a mystery. You're told who the bad guy is. The threat of Napoleon escaping was an unneeded intrigue and a complete hindrance to the plot. How there was any romance in this at all is beyond me.

This felt a lot like a filler book. Like the author is tying up loose ends but can't be bother to really think of a good plot or romance to do that. And it would help if she tied some of those loose ends off, except she didn't, other then Spencer settling down and I guess finding his true love? Yeah... I really struggled with this book.

I couldn't finish this book. It wasn't bad, but it was the same old secret baby formula. Not my thing.

surprising there are so few reviews of this title of the series. vaguely remember reading it, as did go through the series, but just wisps of the plot. remember the bed they shared when she first came to Romney Marsh, remember her red hair, and the alienation from the family, but that is it. and i don't think will reread it, was read in 2019 when anything was grand to block out trump.

Sagas suck you in and then you have feel you have to read all the books. With this saga I've been able to skip 2/4 books. The last one sounds a little more promising.

Spencer Becket went to war in America, getting caught in the American War of Independence and he came back battered and bruised and with a section of time missing due to injuries. He wonders what happened during that time but is reassured that this isn't all bad as he brought with him two men who are quite fond of him.

They aren't too surprised when they see Mariah Rutledge again, Spencer remembers some details about her, but they are all surprised when they realise that she's heavily pregnant.

Marriage follows but so does the intrigue and mystery of a plot to bring down England. A plot they feel they have to do something about. The past is coming to haunt them and to involve another person.

Mariah is a great character, full of vim and vigour and more used to a life on an outpost rather than the staid life in England. She made the book for me. Spencer wasn't as strong a hold.

Spence has returned from Canada in this novel as Napoleon is breaking free of his island prision.

The Beckett continues to be an enjoyable ride through the twist and turns and secerts of the Beckett family Seven siblings who are not really related.

I don't get the title... considering the girl he's quite suitable! The story is rather dull but the characters and dialogue is good. They get some good sparks flying but somehow it still falls through.

The problem with series is eventually the author runs out of how to continue them without becoming both predictable and repetitive. I am now, after book four, tired of the plot tired of the green eyes and tired of the adversary the author created. I'm skipping the next books and going straight to the last one and wrap this thing up.
