In my original review I purposely didn’t rate this book even though I DNF’d it a little after 50% because it was a debut and I wanted to be nice since this book wasn’t for me. Now however I am creating an “authors I won’t read again” shelf and spilling some tea. 💅 This author comments on her reviews when they are negative and the things she says are super disrespectful. It must be hard to release a book into the wild but once it’s out there, it’s going to be loved or hated and goodreads is for readers not authors therefore we can say whatever we want about a book good or bad. For an author to release a debut book and then attack her readers for not liking it is a bit crazy and even though she’s been called out on it repeatedly she continues to comment except now it’s to point out whether things reviewers say are true or not. As a reader that puts me off so bad. I hated what I read of this book but because it was a debut I was going to give this author another chance.
But just recently I learned this author has been involved in even more controversy. She joined a reading challenge group on Facebook, promoted her book until the group chose it with the stipulation she would award prizes to the team who won but then when her team lost, she removed herself from the group and has ignored all emails and messages from that group and their members. Learning this made me even more disgusted by this author and there is not a chance in hell I’m ever reading another book by her. She even commented on this review but it wasn’t mean because I didn’t rate it. Well I’m rating it now and boycotting this author.

I really liked the sample of this book but unfortunately it just did not hold my interest. I try not to rate DNFs unless I read over 50% and I’m right on the bubble so since this is an author’s debut book, I’ll be nice and leave no rating.
I enjoy dark smutty mm books with morally gray characters but I just could not get into this book and that’s an issue when I’m at 50% and still don’t care about either main character. Caden is on a road trip to nowhere trying to get over his grief at being cheated on and goes into a tattoo parlor at his next stop. He gets the words “Beautifully Broken” on his collar bone to feel anything besides his pain and is instantly drawn to the tattoo artist, Ryder, despite never wanting a man before. Ryder was an addict but got his shit together working at this tattoo parlor but he has a “feral side” and is looking for the perfect boy to break. Once Ryder gets a taste of his “pretty boy”, he is determined to keep him no matter what.
The blurb promises kidnapping and to me that screams dubcon especially when this claims to be dark romance but unfortunately for me it didn’t deliver. Ryder threatens Caden with a knife to the throat when he tries to leave town but once they go to Ryder’s place, Caden just gives in without any fight. Caden starts calling Ryder Daddy and it’s very kinky the stuff they do together but it’s all consensual. There’s knife play in this with Caden cutting Ryder’s neck with a penknife and I kept thinking “If this was an actual kidnapping, Caden would use that knife to get away” so it just took me out of the story.
I think most people would just read the smut and be good with the kink but I went into it expecting Ryder to be a lot more ruthless because of how he was depicted in the blurb and unfortunately I lost interest quick. And because I lost interest, it made me pick up on things that may not have bothered me otherwise. So, this is most likely a me and not the book thing. For a debut novel, it was written well although it does have some typos and since the author reads and comments on her reviews, I’ll turn my highlights on because I notice everything. I also kept getting confused about whose POV I was in based on how the dialogue was written. I’m not even sure how to explain it although I did highlight examples.
An example would be (& no this isn’t an actual sentence from the book):
“The dog is red” he smirked. (But the “he” who smirked wasn’t the one who said the dog was red so sometimes it was confusing knowing who said what, when. Does that make sense?)
All that said, I’m interested to see what this author does next because I think it can only get better from here.

Y'all, I'm more disappointed in myself. This book was dark, fucked up and bloody crazy, AND i loved it. I just can't believe my sad attempt at appreciating it. Like, I COULD DO BETTER at showing my love for this book while I was reading it.
This book is not for everyone, so don't mind me while I say, it feels good to finally read a MESSED UP character doing messed up shit and bloody THRIVING.
3.5 stars ⭐ because formatting is MEH and some spelling errors but I'm looking forward to more dark content from this author.

Oh my goodness, that was lousy. I should have read some reviews, but I only read knife/blood play and thought I needed that now.
I've read a lot of really trashy books, but even among them were some that were well written. But here the writing is just so insanely bad...words fail me.
The dialogues were sometimes hard to understand because you often didn't know who was saying what, the plot wasn't plausible in any way, the characters' thoughts didn't explain their actions. I don't need a manual for a novel, but everything should make a little sense.
I'm usually super tolerant because I know how much work it takes to write a book, but this is more of an insult to every other writer.

I loved this one, though have one or two things I didn't enjoy, so I couldn't give the 5 stars.
A dark and so sexy story, with several funny moments.
Loved Ryder, he's crazy.
Caden in the end became a strong character and Ryder submitted to him. That, I thought it was strange. Don't get me wrong, I prefer when it's a versatile couple, but Caden becoming so dominant when he was the sensitive one... Was strange.
Caden's girlfriend had betrayed him, so he went on a journey to clear his head.
When he chose to get a new tattoo in a town he was passing by, he met Ryder and everything changed...
This is my kind of favourite story.
Not the typical stereotypes.
Caden just fell in love with Ryder, by him, not the gender, not the labels, just him...
I REALLY LOVE THAT!
And, of course, this story is sexy as hell!
A lot of triggers, knifes, blood, dubcon sex...
So, if is not your thing, you probably won't like this book.

We are first introduced to Caden, a broken hearted young man, whos hit the road to get far away from his cheating ex. During a stopover in a small town, he meets resident tattooed bad boy Ryder.
From there things move real fast between them, Ryder is one hot animal in the bedroom. He likes some kinky fuckery. Yes, this book is more smut than romance. I'd recommend checking the triggers. If you like reading vanilla sex only, then this book ain't for you.
There are some real sweet moments, where they show there vulnerability, it was very moving. There is no epilogue, however the last 2 chapts skip ahead to 3mths and 6mths.
"Don't fucking tell me what to do" I say through gritted teeth. Dragging my knife to start to carve the letter R into his left shoulder blade, feeling like a weight is starting to be lifted off me as he cries underneath me. I can't help what I like, and what I need, I’ve never been afraid to admit that I'm a sadist." - Ryder

I absolutely loved this book! I saw a tiktok about it and instantly had to read it! I'm usually let down but that was not the case with Beautifully Broken! I loved the dynamic of the MCs Ryders personally absolutely melts my heart tough guy with a marshmallow center. And Caden is the absolute best. A sweet guy with a heart of gold. But don't let his good boy vibe fool you. 😉 I also loved how Meagan didn't throw in some extra unnecessary crisis. The story flowed perfectly! I can't wait to see what she writes next a new insa buy author for me!

Beautifully Broken is a gloriously twisted and dark MM read. Broken hearted and newly single, Caden, is on an impromptu roadtrip. When he enters the small town of Latter Hills County, he crosses paths with a sinfully attractive tattoo artist called Ryder.
Oh boy, these two sickos... They called to all my dark and obsessive romance needs! I absolutely loved Ryder, gotta love those morally grey lunatics that stop at nothing to get what belongs to them.

Beautifully Broken is a short read that Packs a punch. These two leave no stone unturned when it comes to pleasure and pain. I am no stranger to dark romances and nefarious characters but even I felt like clutching my pearls at times, lol.
I really loved Caden and Ryder's story, with the darkness came the light and actually ended up being a rather sweet romance in the end. I could have quoted this book to my heart's content, there was so many great lines. I really recommend this book for lovers of morally grey characters who are redeemable, stalking/kidnapping and a toxic relationship you can't help but love.

Beautifully Broken is a short read that Packs a punch. These two leave no stone unturned when it comes to pleasure and pain. I am no stranger to dark romances and nefarious characters but even I felt like clutching my pearls at times, lol.
I really loved Caden and Ryder's story, with the darkness came the light and actually ended up being a rather sweet romance in the end. I could have quoted this book to my heart's content, there was so many great lines. I really recommend this book for lovers of morally grey characters who are redeemable, stalking/kidnapping and a toxic relationship you can't help but love.

Cadens sexual exploration and maturation
Was hot to witness. Definitely did not expect either character to be a switch. Ryder is sadistic bastard with a softer, more vulnerable, side that only Caden can unlock. Seeing Ryder evolve from obsession to love as well is what made this story. For me, especially as an author, character depth and evolution is what keeps me interested and Meagan accomplished that. As she stated, there wasn’t a super intricate plot but it really didn’t need one if you are a fan of love stories filled with steamy, downright sinful, love scenes. The only thing that could have made this book better for me was one more boy😈😈

Funny story. I come across this book when it showed up on my fyp on TikTok. And to put it mildly, I was intrigued. 😏 And when the author wanted arc readers, I couldn’t resist.
This is not a book for everyone. So if you have any triggers, you should check them out in advance. But I Will say that the boys get a very gratifying happily ever after. 🥰
Caden is suffering trough a bad brake up, and on his way home to his home state, he thinks it’s a good idea to get a tattoo.
Caden feels an instant connection to Rylan, the tattoo artist. Which makes him question everything he knows about himself. Because Caden is straight, right? Or is he? 😏
So why not just drop that said tattoo artist another visit? Yeah good idea! From here on out, the book take a dark turn. But I absolutely loved that. The sexy times is 🔥🔥🔥

I'm finished reading and I want to cry 😭. Ryder's backstory was so heartbreaking 😥 but luckily, Caden is there for him no matter what. Their love is beautiful and so freaking real❤️. The spice, gosh , 100000000\10🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵. I recommend Beautifully Broken to anyone who loves a dark, messed up , possessive love interest and his equally possessive messed up , pretty boy❤️❤️

The only thing this book has done for me is verify I’m more fucked up in the head than I was already aware. The toxicity of Caden and Ryder was beautifully perfect, and their connection was fierce! Finding love with someone just as twisted as you is insanely perfect, with a lot of dark and contorted excitement to follow!
Please, please, please take heed of the triggers since this book is definitely not for everyone. It’s dark, twisted, and kinky with a tad bit of praise going on between these two men. This is basically a book of twisted smut scenes with minimal storyline with exploding chemistry!

Had the absolute pleasure of reading this book as an arc, and let me tell you I was captivated from the beginning, The tension and passion between Ryder and Caden was breathtaking and while the spice was an absolute treat! I love that Meagan captured how Caden felt in his most vulnerable moments after seemingly feeling unworthy of affection and falling for some one he never thought he would. Ryder oh our wonderful Ryder sure was a wild ride, but once we came to know him, his dark side makes so much sense. Love, love, love this book and can’t wait to see what future treats are in store. ❤️

The author stated that this book is a MM dark romance that's probably 75% smut 25% plot/character development. There was a list for the TWs in the beginning of the book for those that may need to know them (which I completely love when authors do this). It was a quick read at under 200 pages. This is the authors first published book.
So, I liked the idea of this book. I love a hot MM bi-awakening/GFY story. I love a good dark romance. I especially love switching/versatile in MM books. This book tried to hit all of those points and was just okay for me. I didn't find it particularly dark, hot or smutty. The MMCs don't even have sex until around 60%. Just blowies and handies, which is fine but doesn't rank as smut for me. I also didn't like HOW the MMCs switched. It didn't come across as organic (i like when both are ok with or curious about either role). The MMC that was dominant for the majority of the story, just transformed into a puddle of goo seemingly out of nowhere for no reason. And I read a lot of MM and I'm just not a fan of NEVER using lube!
I'm not trying to be harsh or overly critical. The writing was not bad. The story was not bad. I didn't want to DNF at any point. Yes there are some issues and incorrect word usage, but these things were minor for me and can be fixed with editing/proofing etc.
Overall, I didn't love this book but I didn't hate it. I would read another book by this author.

This book should have been a DNF, but i was in a reading challenge and wanted the bonus points for this dumpster fire. This book was just all around very poorly written. The connection between the 2 main characters is forced(literally). The MM romance is very uncomfortable. The plot was basically no existent, and the story was all over the place. It's like the author thought up as many kinks as possible and just threw em in a blender without a lid and let them vomit on the pages.
On top of the terrible writing the author has shown her true colors in the last month. This author is truly very greedy and selfish.

Please check the TW and don't take lightly, but if your ok with them you'll enjoy this. I definitely enjoyed their toxic, and wild ride and look forward to more from Meagan.

This was a debut book for this author and overall it was pretty good. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book. 😊
Caden just broke up with his cheating girlfriend of about 2 years. He leaves the state and on his drive stops at a small town tattoo place. Here he meets Ryder the tattoo artist. Ryder becomes obsessed with Caden. Caden is attracted to Ryder as well which unnerves him since he has never been attracted to guys at all. There is a few times Caden tries to run away from Ryder but Ryder’s obsession will not let him go. There is a nice HEA though for them.
This story does have a lot of trigger warnings so make sure to read those. I enjoyed the knife play, blood play, etc. The sex scenes were good and there was a lot of them. 🔥
This book was duel POV and it was hard sometimes to tell who’s POV it was and I got confused a few times on who was talking. There was a few typos in the story but nothing that was overly distracting.
If you like dark and obsessive MCs you may want to try this one.

I have been looking for that kind of book for a while. It is a fast burn, it's hot as hell, it makes you question doesn't this go beyond consent in some moments. But this is what I needed to read and it fully met my expectation. And there were enough warnings what kind of book it will be. I must admit the blood play didn't turn out to be my thing, I never read about it before. But the chemistry between Caden and Ryder was like fire and it was great pleasure to read about their dark passions.

When I got a chance to arc read this, I was so excited! Loved the triggers, I like it twisted, a bit kinky and dark. That said this book is not for everyone. If you’re looking for fluffy, sweet stories, this is not the book for you…
I loved the characters from the start. Broken and different, but so perfect together… Caden is messed up after a break up with his girlfriend, and decides to pop in for a tattoo. Ryder has issues of his own. But when they meet spark flies 🔥🔥🔥 Loved their chemistry! And yes, it’s a beautiful HEA at the end!

Edited update #2: Beautifully Broken has a new cover, and the second edition will be releasing September 1st, 2023. It has been edited and re worked with reader suggestions in mind. I value the criticism that readers provide and use it to improve my writing and craft. The new edition will have a new cover, along with updated paperback formatting. Those with the old format will have to redownload, or ask for a return if it was the paperback version. I highly suggest doing so once the second edition is posted.
This was my first book, and I fully understand the faults, and have taken notes on the negative reviews on how to grow in my writing. This book was written and published with as much as I could put into it at the time. Again, this was my first book, and a learning experience.
Other notes in regards to what will not be changed and i am not considering with myself and the editor in terms of the feedback:
-Not every author writes in lube, because readers can use realistic expectations as they see fit, depending on the scene being portrayed in the book. In my opinion personally, If lube is needed, a reader can then assume lube is used.
Very commonly in MF books, lube is never mentioned once because readers and the author assume the FMC is ready to go, but not every women can naturally be lubricated due to many different medical reasons, yet readers and authors just assume everything is ready to go. Obviously MM is different, but why can't readers uphold the same automatic assumptions for two MMC's? As a reader of MM, I've read several books where lube was not mentioned and I immediately and logically assumed lube was used. Sometimes mentioning lube 'conveniently being right there' is awkward and ruins the scene for me as a reader. I wrote this book for me, with my preferences.
Also to mention: using cum as lube is hot. This is Fiction.
-This novella is for the smut, not for the plot. The "plot" is just filler content. The plot will not be expanded, just simply edited grammatically, etc.
Therefor, this specific criticism will not be taken into consideration with editing. I apologize if that is something someone as a reader needs in a book, but it is not what I as the author find I want to add into this specific book. (In my next release, Nightmares of Apollyn, lube is mentioned.)

Sometimes mentioning lube 'conveniently being right there' is awkward and ruins the scene for me as a reader. I wrote this book for me, with my preferences.
Also to mention: using cum as lube is hot. This is Fiction.
-This novella is for the smut, not for the plot. The "plot" is just filler content. The plot will not be expanded, just simply edited grammatically, etc.
Therefor, this specific criticism will not be taken into consideration with editing. I apologize if that is something someone as a reader needs in a book, but it is not what I as the author find I want to add into this specific book. (In my next release, Nightmares of Apollyn, lube is mentioned.)
