Ashe has been drawn to the water for as long as she can remember. But when an ethereal creature lures her to the depths of the ocean during her first visit to the sea, her life changes forever.
Lord Landric Vallance is supposed to be finding a wife. When a beautiful woman rescues him from a stormy shipwreck, he questions whether she could be the one he is searching for.
Will Ashe and Landric be able to live happily? Or will the mysteries surrounding Ashe, and what happened to her that fateful day, drive them apart?
It was actually a decent story. Zero heat but satisfying still.
You can say it's a retelling of the Little Mermaid where there's a curse passing down one by one by girls with beautiful voices (but no real mermaids people though).
This was surprisingly good!! The story is engaging; somewhat predictable but not in a bad way. I like how there’s romance, mystery, danger, and supernatural happenings, but none of those things are the focus. It wasn’t too much of any element; it was a fun and comfortable read. I enjoyed it immensely!!
This book made me want to cry, but also, smile and laugh. Poor Ashe, since the very beginning all she went through, but Landric was so sweet and patient with her and helped her through it all. Another bonus was that it was a clean read. I'm going to keep an eye on Ms. Kassidy to see what she writes next
This was a very good first book from this author!!! I 💙LOVED the storyline, pacing of it, and the sweet romance between Landric and Shae. They where such a cute couple. I 💙LOVED how Landric managed to get Shae to laugh even though she had no voice. I also 💙 LOVED the nickname he gave her, and how smart Landric was when something was bothering her. Shae was also smart in that way, and I 💙LOVED how Landric supported her. I do wish that their was more inspiring quotes in this book. The quotes I found where near the end, but it still deserves 4 stars. I just think she could of stuck some more inspiring ones throughout. Other that that I MOST DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this book. It is a a very good Little Mermaid Retelling. I did 💙LOVE the map at the end also, and I must mention the GORGEOUS COVER. It is so eye catching and was one of the reasons I decided to take a chance on this book. I am glad I did and I cannot wait to read more of her books.
This book was amazing!!!!! I’ve been bawling the past half an hour 😭😭😭😭. I started it last night and finished this morning. It was such a sweet retelling of the Little Mermaid—I loved how much more meaningful and loving their relationship was (because they knew each other much longer than 3 days). The way to break the curse was also so much more meaningful than a simple kiss. Their love for each other is so strong, which is different than the original little mermaid— whose relationship could’ve only gotten to the stage of like/lust in 3 days. I also loved that Ashe was still a human (no tail)— similar to Kiera Cass’s story: The Siren (which is still one of my favorite books in the world). If anyone reads this wondering if they should read the book—READ IT!!!!

Summary: Once upon a time, a young girl with an awesome voice and a love for swimming is stolen by a siren. This forces her to take the siren’s place as someone whose voice enchants anyone who loves her (or at least is physically attracted to her), compelling the enchanted victim to drown themselves in the sea. The immediate consequence of this is that she speaks when she is returned to the land (without any understanding of her curse) and inadvertently causes her beloved elder brother to drown himself in front of her (Eep!).
Completely traumatized, she goes on to live a more isolated life until she is able to find an enchantress who agrees to take her voice away completely (along with some of her memories of being a siren). This gives the muted/sign-language-using girl a chance at a somewhat normal life/romance with a shipwrecked cinnamon roll.
But as their romance grows, some of her memories return—leaving her scrambling for a more permanent solution (that won’t end with her inadvertently drowning her new husband and everyone else who has come to love her).
Pros: Though fairytale retellings are everywhere lately (and I’m not complaining!), it’s rarer to find a TRUE LM retelling that captures the dark beauty of the original—with or without the romance readers have come to expect. That is what this story did, reminding me a lot of Kiera Cass’s The Siren and Kate Stradling’s Brine and Bone, and since I loved both those books (and wrote my own LM retelling along a similar vein), I loved this one too.
Even more impressive considering that this is the author’s debut!!!
I just loved the way the siren-lore was handled. I loved the cinnamon-roll prince (he’s a lord in this one, but still basically a prince) and all the strong family relationships. Their romance was so sweet and a stirring contrast to some of the darker aspects of the story.
And the overall theme of love and sacrifice was just really beautiful. 🙂
Cons: I could quibble about a few writing things and how some of the reveals were handled, but the end was still really beautiful--I just love that the author didn’t shy away from letting the prince be more of a hero and a really good guy (which is a beautiful part of more traditional fairytales that I still LOVE and hate to see removed from a lot of the more “modern” interpretations).
Conclusion: Awesome debut. And I know that I have been giving 5-star reviews out like hot-cakes lately, but I really, really mean it this time. I loved this book, and it got me super excited to read more from this author.
Read it if you love more traditional fairytales and sirens, sweet marriages-of-convenience that turn into love, and all things stunning and beautiful!

This was a great book with an amazing plot! I loved Landric and Shae's relationship and how they trusted each other. I do feel like the relationship moved a little fast though as it was kind of like at first sight and then an immediate marriage. I also feel as though the writing style was quite simple, although it was nice and sweet to read. I loved the different take on the Little Mermaid. Amazing book!
This was an amazing retelling of The Little Mermaid that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the book! The little twists and the differences from the original story made it a fascinating read, and I loved the romance and the way each character showed their love for each other! I don’t want to give away the ending, but.. Wow!
Really enjoyed this Little Mermaid retelling. It didn't quite suck me in at the beginning and I felt thr shipwreck was a but rushed but after that the story really pulled me in and I loved it!
I really loved reading this wonderful book! I loved the characters and the plot! I had a hard time putting this really wonderful book down! I absolutely loved this retelling of The Little Mermaid! I will be reading the next book in this really wonderful series!
