Edit po miesiącu: Zmieniam z 4 na 5 gwiazdek, bo często do niej wracam myślami i już mam ochotę na reread.

No fajne to było, ale z drugiej strony — takich historii poznałam już tysiące w trakcie swojego życia i nie potrzebuję kolejnej. 90% seriali dla nastolatek ma fabułę 1:1.

Miałam dużą motywację żeby przeczytać tę książkę i okazała się być świetną rozrywką.
Może za kilka lat technologicznie coś się pozmienia i Lottie będzie mniej "na czasie" i aktualna, ale z drugiej strony dojrzewanie jest takie samo niezależnie od realiów, więc ta książka ma jakąś szansę się "nie zestarzeć" Świetnie są tu oddane dziewczyńskie problemy okresu 10-12 lat . Ta książka mówi językiem współczesnych dzieci, bez przynudzania i moralizatorstwa, ale też z pięknie wplecionym wartościowym przesłaniem
Jest pisana w formie pamiętnika, ma mało tekstu, są rysunki. To się naprawdę sprawdza i "chwyta"
Bawiła mnie choć nie zawsze, bo żarty czasami są na poziomie 10-12 lat ale przecież o to chodzi. Ta grupa jest targetem

To mogł być mój pamiętnik, gdybym prowadziła go mając 11 lat. Szczery, wyolbrzymiający problemy, które dla 11- czy 12-latki są problemami naprawdę wielkiej wagi. A do tego bardzo zabawny! Pokochałam Lottie i na pewno będę chciała przeczytać też kolejne jej pamiętniki.

Lottie brooks is 11 turning 12 and her life is about to officially start. She begins to experience the life of a year 7 and all the worries that come along with it. After her one and only friend Holly moved to Australia it feels like the end of the world for her.
As an adult this book is a comedy, getting to read about the dramas of an 11 year old is completely hilarious and i promise it will make you feel so relaxed realizing how everything feels like the end of the world at that age.
2 issues with the book:
repeatedly refers to secondary school as high school.
group texts are some times layout that text from her friends are on the side lottie’s messages should be.
As an adult this book is a comedy, getting to read about the dramas of an 11 year old is completely hilarious and i promise it will make you feel so relaxed realizing how everything feels like the end of the world at that age.

My 10yo daughter read this book in a day and loved it. This was her review:
“I enjoyed this book more than you could imagine. I found it EXTREMELY funny but also EXTREMELY relatable because Lottie’s life could probably relate to a lot of 12 yo girls now!!!!!”
After she finished it she came to me to talk about growing up, puberty etc and was v open about her worries and questions. I can’t be sure if it was this book that prompted it, but I’m guessing so - and am v grateful for it as a result!

Järjekordne raamat, mida lastekirjanduse riiul tohutult vajas - mõnus, lihtne, lõbus, kuid olulisi teemasid kajastav päevikustiilis raamat põhikooli teisele astmele. Oluline sõber lapseeast väljakasvamise teel ja ma isiksuse kujunemise esimeste sammude tegemisel. Ja no mina sain ka mõne korraliku õppetunni nii et igaüks leiab endale midagi.

Lottie ma prawie dwanaście lat, jej najlepsza przyjaciółka wyjechała, a na Instagramie nie ma wielu obserwujących. Na dodatek martwi się, że ma mały biust, by nosić stanik. To pierwsza część serii. Czy sięgnę po kolejne?
„Dla pełnej jakości faktów: był bardzo cienki i prawie niewidoczny gołym okiem, ale jednak”.
Wiem, że sięgając po tę książkę, będzie skierowana do dzieci w wieku szkolnym. Szczerze mówiąc mam do tej historii neutralne odczucia. Pamiętam, jak to było ze mną w tym wieku, chociaż czasy podstawówki i gimnazjum nie były dla mnie dobrym okresem. Myślę, że główna bohaterka przeżywa te same rozterki, jak każda z nas na tym etapie swojego życia i naprawdę byłam w stanie ją zrozumieć, natomiast nie było tak, że została moją najlepszą przyjaciółką. Okładka bardzo mi się podoba, a ilustracje w książce są naprawdę dobrze przemyślane.
Żenujące Życie Lottie Brooks polecam przede wszystkim osobom w wieku 9-12 lat, jednak nie mówię, że osoby starsi czytelnicy, jak i ciut młodsi nie będą się dobrze bawić.

Lottie Brooks is about to start secondary school without her best friend Molly. Therefore she has a plan to join the popular girls in order to avoid being made fun of! However, that might turn out not to be a great idea...
This is a good introductory book to topics related to puberty (body changes & hormones = boys!) and all self consciousness in the pre-teens phase.
Katie Kirby is also the author of Hurrah for Gin!
Recommended by a flatmate, this book was just the right level of silliness I needed to counterbalance a quite heavy non fiction!

Een best leuk boek over een meisje dat graag populair wilt worden en alles wat ze meemaakt. Ik vond Lotte soms best een toffe meid, maar soms wilde ik haar gewoon even doorelkaar rammelen. Ze heeft echt een leuke en lieve vriendin maar die is niet popi genoeg dus ja.... Ze bleef maar bij het gemene meiden groepje en leek ook af en toe niet te snappen waarom haar andere vriendin niet zo blij was met de zaken. Hallo, die meiden waar je bij bent zijn gewoon gemeneriken en daar wil niemand gevonden bij worden.
Verder veel andere problemen, zoals broertjes, behas opvullen (arme meid), long distance met je beste vriendin praten, huiswerk, leuke jongens (en wil je echt voor die populaire gast gaan of toch voor die andere nog leukere en lieve jongen). Ik heb vaak lekker gelachen en ik vond het formaat (dagboek + meer) erg leuk gedaan.
Lieve schrijvers kunnen we alsjeblieft even goed neerzetten hoe hamsters zijn? Hamsters horen NIET bij elkaar, vooral niet twee syrische hamsters/goudhamsters. Dat is niet veilig. De kooi die wordt getekend is VEEL TE KLEIN. En onze hoofdpersoon voelde zich even schuldig tegenover de hamsters omdat ze geen vega wilde eten, maar hamsters zijn omnivoren en eten maar al graag een stukje vlees, dan wel in insecten vorm (of als ze bij mensen zijn ook wel eens wat ham of kip of andere dierlijke eiwitten. Ze hebben zelfs die proteinen nodig.

Lugesin, et end kurssi viia, mis on praegu noorte lugejate seas populaarne. Kiita võib humoorikat stiili ja ajaüleste pubekaprobleemide käsitlust (esimese rinnahoidja elevus, peerukotist väikevend, kuidas olla 5. klassi kõige kuumem beib jne). Siiski rikub seda teemakäsitlust popkultuuriliste viidete rohkus, mis paigutab teose väga kindlasse aegruumi. Kui ma tunnen 3 aastat pärast raamatu esmailmumist, et see on aegunud, siis see ei ole hea raamatu tunnus. I highly recommend this book for children. I think middle grade kids will really enjoy it because it touches on just about everything that happens in middle school. Lottie‘s best friend has moved away and she has to start middle school with no friends. Her mother has also announced that she is pregnant. Her little brother is very annoying. I look forward to reading the rest of the books by this author and Lottie tells kids that it’s OK to be the quiet one. it’s OK to wear whatever you want, and it’s OK to be yourself.

My 11-13 year old students are OBSESSED with this series at the moment so I figured I'd take the first one home for the holidays to see what all the fuss was about. And then I read the entire thing in one sitting and cackled from start to finish. Genuinely, I get why they're all obsessed. This was hysterical and very cleverly done. I reserved the second one at my public library as soon as I finished this because I need more of Lottie Brooks in my life.

Not as good as the hype
I purchased this book for my 9 year old but decided to vet it myself first before letting her read it so this is based on my views.
Having been an avid reader of Judy Blume and Georgia Nicholson in my own youth, I had high hopes for this (along with the bordering on sycophantic reviews on Facebook).
This is a book written by a middle aged, middle class woman writing about 11 year old trials and tribulations. It reads exactly like that to me, a grown woman writing about puberty.
Some of the phraseology used, I can't see the current pre-teens using at all.
It's also pretty cringe/cliche. Out of touch parents referring to "insta what's it". Now unless you started having children when you were 70, the parents of current 10/11/12 year olds will be well aware of the names of Social Media.
Most of us don't refer to the "birds and the bees" when talking about sex to our children either.
The only thing I really liked about it was that it made me realise I'm not an embarrassing parent!
My daughter may love it on the other hand but can't see her knowing what words like "penchant" mean. We shall see!

I loved this book so much!
I was a big fan of the Georgia Nicholson books when I was younger and this had the exact same vibe only it was more up-to-date.
I was either laughing out loud or sympathising with the main character during every page of the book and I felt so connected to Lottie. I genuinely think this is a character that a lot of girls will be able to relate to. The entire cast of characters were phenomenal and well developed.
The pacing was brilliant - it wasn't too slow or repetitive, and it had just enough action to make it exciting and realistic.
I particularly adored how this book tackled a lot of topics that are very prevalent in today's society such as climate change and social media. It is so important to have realistic books like this that tackle these subjects in a fun and interesting way while also showing the severity of the situation.
I can't wait to see where the series takes us and to see Lottie grow!

My daughter read this book in less than a day. She loved it so much, and for a while, all I could hear from her were giggles.She read most of the other books too and loved them as well. Great read, especially for girls 9+. She told me it was hilarious, and in it were characters based on the kind of people everyone will meet, or has met in their lifetime.Also includes embarrassing but realistic situations we have all been in before.
