The girl’s head is bent as if in prayer, her hands bound tightly together at the wrist. Her bare feet are still against the cold sand, the last thing she ever felt before she breathed her last…

When the body of a teenage girl is found in Rydal Falls’ churchyard, Detective Morgan Brookes abandons her own birthday to attend the scene. In the dim evening light, Morgan can just make out the girl wrapped in a pristine white sheet and is certain she’s been left here for them to find.

The autopsy identifies the girl as sixteen-year-old Shea Wilkinson, and Morgan’s heart cracks with sorrow. The beautiful teenager has been missing for weeks, could she have been suffering all this time? When she learns the sand on Shea’s feet is from a nearby island, Morgan leaves immediately, determined to find the killer’s hiding place and stop them in their tracks.

But scouring the windswept beach, Morgan can’t find any sign that Shea was ever there. And then her phone rings with devastating news. Another girl has gone missing, a young nurse called Milly with the same blonde hair and blue eyes as Shea.

Morgan won’t rest until she has returned the kind, cheerful girl to her distraught parents. But Milly was last seen chatting to one of Morgan’s colleagues on the force… Refusing to think the worst, can she trace the clues and get inside the mind of the most cunning killer of her career, before another innocent life is lost?

My second book by Helen Phifer...yes, I know that it's book 7. The book has plenty of the "thriller "element to give the reader all the thrills, chills and shocking moments that they can handle. Again, it seems that Detective Morgan Brookes draws murders to her small village. This time her team investigates a dead body found in local churchyard ditch and things start to escalate in an alarming way. They have to ask if there is a deranged killer in their small village and could the killer be someone that they all know? I enjoyed and felt that it was worthy of a 5 -star rating even though the ending was a bit abrupt and didn't completely answer all my questions or all the questions the team had during the investigation. I am looking forward to seeing what Morgan is up to next...and, where her relationship with her partner, Ben, is headed. It was good to see a few new characters make an appearance, and I liked what they added to the team. I don’t know if they will be back, but some guest appearances would be nice. Morgan is again a danger" magnet". If you've read any of this series, you will know what I'm saying. If you haven’t read and met Detective Morgan Brookes, I do highly recommend this series. You can easily start this series with this one, or any of the first 6 books, but I know that may not work well for everyone, but you wouldn't be entirely lost. I didn’t mention on of my favorite characters, Declan...but I have to give him his due credit. He is written as one of the kindest souls I have ever encountered whose job it is to deal with the dead. He has the most caring manner. I love the character of Morgan Brookes and believe if you are a Mystery/Suspense/Thriller fan that and you will like this series and its characters also.

Silent Angel (Detective Morgan Brookes Book 7) by Helen Phifer

Congratulations Helen Phifer for writing another 5-star Morgan Brookes novel. I love every page of Silent Angel! I follow the Detective Morgan Brookes series, but the books can also be enjoyed as stand-alones.

Synopsis:
Detective Morgan Brookes is called to a churchyard when the body of a young teenage girl is discovered. Sixteen-year-old Shea Wilkinson is identified as the victim. Soon after finding Shea's body, Milly a young girl Morgan is acquainted with goes missing. Milly was last seen talking with one of Morgan's teammates on the police force. Is there a connection?

Silent Angel is nail-biting and suspenseful. I was totally absorbed in the story from the first page. It is a fascinating and fast-paced book. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys intriguing mysteries with romance woven in. The characters are relatable and soon feel like family. As a huge fan of Helen Phifer's writing, I read every book she writes. She always delivers a delicious high-octane story.

Silent Angel (Detective Morgan Brookes Book 7) by Helen Phifer is available on September 28th. Don't miss this wonderful edge-of-your-seat thriller! (5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)

Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture, for sharing this brilliant continuation of the suspenseful Morgan Brookes story! Your kindness is appreciated.

It’s Morgan’s birthday and she is ready to have a night out with her partner Ben. But Police work is never 9-5 and Ben is called to the death of a young girl whose body is found in the local church yard at Rydal Falls. Her hair has been cut off and she is covered in a white sheet. While Morgan is waiting for Ben, she gets roped into the investigation.
When Morgan attends the autopsy, they find out that the body is of a sixteen-year-old that has been missing for weeks. But the girl has only been dead a few hours. So where has she been? She also has sand on her feet and petals from a flower that is only grown on a nearby island Morgan goes to investigate.
She then hears that another girl has gone missing, Milly who is a nurse the nearby old peoples home that Morgan has met. Such a happy Smiley girl. Her first thought is the local new vicar that has recently arrived at the church where the first body is found. As her first instincts say that there is something not right about him. She needs to find Milly and fast before she ends up dead.
Thank you Bookoutre for a copy of Silent Angel from Helen Phifer. This is the seventh book in the Detective Morgan Brooks series and for me this is another 5-star read. This is another fast-paced unputdownable thriller, with lots of twists and turns. and I especially love the character of Morgan she is not afraid of getting stuck in and not afraid to get into dangerous situations. This is a great read 5 stars from me.

SILENT ANGEL is the Seventh book in a police procedural series featuring Detective Morgan Brookes by Helen Phifer. I have read all of the books in this series and this book is a definite winner! Although this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the books in order to get a full history.

The books in the Detective Morgan Brookes Series:
BOOK 1-ONE LEFT ALIVE
BOOK 2-THE KILLER’S GIRL
BOOK 3-THE HIDING PLACE
BOOK 4-FIRST GIRL TO DIE
BOOK 5-FIND THE GIRL
BOOK 6-SLEEPING DOLLS
BOOK 7-SILENT ANGEL

This is my review of Sleeping Dolls.

This is DC Morgan Brookes first day back at work in the CID office, in Rydal Falls, known as CAST, Crime and Safeguarding Team, after a run-in with The Travelling Man. She had been abducted and injured by a serial killer named The Travelling Man, who now was in jail.

The cast of the small control team includes:
Sergeant Ben Matthews
Detective Morgan Brookes
DC Amy Smith
DC Des Black

Detective Morgan Brookes and her boss, Sergeant Ben Matthews are a couple, and Morgan has finally moved in with him.

When the body of a teenage girl is found in Rydal Falls’ churchyard, Detective Morgan Brookes abandons her own birthday to attend the scene. The girl is wrapped in a white sheet and her hair

The autopsy reveals that the body is of a sixteen-year-old, Shea Wilkinson that has been missing for weeks…but only dead for a few hours. When Morgan is told the sand on the victim’s feet is from a nearby island, Morgan is off to investigate.

But then Morgan hears that another girl has gone missing, Milly who is a nurse at an old age home, that Morgan knew. Is the new vicar involved? Morgan needs to find Milly fast before she ends up dead.

This is a fast-paced crime thriller with intriguing characters with a plot filled with twists and turns.

Many thanks to the author, Bookouture and Net Galley for my digital copy.

Detective Morgan Brookes and Sergeant Ben Matthews are about to celebrate her birthday. However, a phone call to what turns out to be a gruesome murder scene interrupts their plans. Morgan is hit especially hard when she sees the barely identifiable corpse. Morgan, Ben and their colleagues begin interviews to try and see what they can do to identify the killer. One of those that are interviewed is a visiting vicar.

It doesn't take long for the body to be identified as a missing 17- year old teenager. As Morgan and the others work on this investigation, not only is the vicar on their radars, but they do wonder if perhaps the killer could be among their ranks. Perhaps more than ever before, Morgan can't help but to rely on her sixth sense when it comes to what is going on around them. When a tragedy that is too close to home happens, the Morgan and the others cannot help but be that much more vigilant.

One thing is for certain. This killer is smart and elusive. Then when another girl named Milly turns up missing, not only must Morgan work even harder to find the identity of the killer, but she must also strive to stay alive at the same time. Helen Phifer has kept this fabulous series strong with excellent stories and compelling characters and always leaves readers for a desire for more.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Silent Angel by Helen Phifer is the 7th in the Detective Morgan Brookes series.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Series Background:    (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books)
Morgan Brookes is living her dream.  She is a Detective Constable for Rydal Falls.  She works with her boyfriend, DS Ben Matthews, whom she recently moved in with.  Other members of the team include, DC Amy Smith and DC Des Black.  Their new boss is DI Mark Howard, and the jury is still out.  Their go-to Forensic Pathologist is Declan Donnelly.  After losing her mother,  Morgan finally got to know her dad, but Stan is now dead.  Meanwhile, she has learned that her biological father is a rapist and a killer.  Morgan's aunt Ettie is considered a "witch".

My Synopsis:    (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
A girl's body is found in the churchyard by the new Vicar.  She is identified as 16-year old Shea Wilkinson, who went missing 4 weeks ago.  The autopsy showed she's been dead for about 3 weeks, meaning the perpetrator kept her alive for at least a week.  The only other clues as to where she was held was the sand on her feet, and some flowers that were sprinkled over the body.

When another young girl goes missing, Morgan and the team are determined to find her before she too ends up dead.  But one of their team ends up missing as well, and questions abound.

My Opinions:
I really like this series, although  I am not sure where the author gets her titles from.

Morgan may be a little reckless, but her heart is definitely in the right place, and I like Ben, Cain and Declan. The characters make a good team.

The plot was well thought out, and the pace was fast.   Suspense continued to build throughout.  The ending was good, although I wish a few things had been rectified  (I'm not a fan of things being left hanging).  I do have a suspicion or two about where the plot is headed next, but I guess I have to wait.  I'm definitely looking forward to seeing if I am right.

Anyway, I'd definitely recommend this series.  The books are always a fast and entertaining read.

I am excited to be taking part in the #BooksOnTour #BlogTour for Helen Phifer's latest Morgan Brookes crime thriller SILENT ANGEL.

I'm a big fan of Helen Phifer and was thrilled to dive into Morgan Brookes' latest escapade. Although this is the seventh in the series, it can easily be read as a standalone and you don't really miss out on anything. Although having met the characters from the beginning you are able to get more of a feel for them with each installment so if you get a chance to go back and start from the beginning, then go for it! You won't be disappointed.

Admittedly, I found it difficult to get into this one not due to anything the author may or may not have done but because of the headspace I have currently found myself in with my personal life...although reading is a wonderful escape for the most part, I found it hard to keep up due to my own circumstances. But SILENT ANGEL is still an entertaining fast paced crime thriller and fans are reunited with their favourite characters once again.

It's Morgan's birthday and she and partner Ben have booked the weekend off to celebrate, beginning with an enjoyable and relaxing night out. But the crims don't work regular 9 to 5 hours and Ben had hardly stepped out of the shower when a phone call comes in about a body found in a churchyard...and in the middle of a power cut. The body is that of a young girl but her age is difficult to determine due to decomposition. The post mortem reveals the girl's identity as that of missing 17 year old Shea Wilkinson who disappeared from Blackpool around four weeks ago. She had been dead for around three of those weeks, so what did the killer do with her in the week after her initial disappearance? And since her body has only just turned up, where has she been in the meantime? She certainly wasn't in the graveyard just a few days ago on Mother's Day when the place would have been swarming with loved ones paying respects to their mothers or grandmothers.

Whilst investigating Shea's murder, another young girl the same age disappears after the church spring fete held in the grounds of the retirement home just across from the church in which the first body had been found. Milly works as a health aid at the home and has been excitedly planning her upcoming 18th birthday in which she intends to include the residents of the home in which she works. Morgan's suspicions immediately fall of the new vicar who sparks Morgan's antennae that something with him is not quite right.

But then one of their own disappears and the race is on find both Milly and their colleague before fate intervenes and it's too late. Morgan refuses to give up and continues to search for both of them despite her boss removing her from the investigation and placing her colleagues, partner Ben and sassy Amy on compassionate leave, and shipping her off to another station to work out of. Morgan is sure the incidents are all linked and the same person is responsible for them all. But who? Morgan is determined to find out whatever the cost.

Helen Phifer delivers another exciting installment in this edge of your seat series. I love how Ben and Morgan's relationship has developed and she has bit the bullet and moved in with him at last. I love each of the recurring characters and their unique personalities, bringing a fresh and vibrant feel to otherwise grim circumstances. I love Declan, the pathologist, and his quirky assistant who always has a new hair colour with each book, CSI Wendy as well Ben's own team of himself, Morgan, Amy and Des. The jury's still out on their new DI Marcell (Marc) Howard who entered in the previous book. I think I miss their old DI, who sadly retired, as much as Ben and Morgan do.

I love the location of Cumbria and the Lakes District, taking in the small locales around the beautiful setting I can just about visualise despite never having been there. I always look forward to what Helen Phifer brings us next, whether it be a standalone or another Morgan Brookes. Either way, I'm never disappointed.

I would like to thank #HelenPhifer, #NetGalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #SilentAngel in exchange for an honest review.

Silent Angel is the 7th book in the Detective Morgan Brookes series and it is one that I very much enjoy. In this outing, Amanda forgoes her birthday celebration when she heads to a crime scene with Ben. A young girl has been found in a ditch in the churchyard wrapped in a white sheet. Her hair has been cut off and she is only a teen who was picked up while waiting for her sister to pick her up. She had been missing for two weeks and Morgan is concerned about what she may have suffered over that time. Forensic evidence shows that there is sandy soil on her feet that comes from a nearby island, so the team heads over to see what they can find out. When a second girl of similar age and appearance is reported missing, the team step it up to find Milly alive before they find her body.

Silent Angel is another well written crime thriller that had me guessing until the end. There were a few suspects, one being the local vicar, who recently moved to the area and found the first body. He and Morgan had a very odd relationship and he gave me the creeps. There was also some suspicion toward a police officer who was last seen in the company of the second young woman who disappeared. Now they also have to find their colleague as well as the missing girl. This book had me on the edge of my seat and I wanted Milly to be found alive, she was such a wonderful character. I found this book to be fast paced, gripping and it kept me guessing. I enjoy the team that Morgan and Ben work with and there is some problems with the team in this book that needs to get sorted. There is some romance, great friendships and a wonderful team atmosphere that keeps me reading. I am already looking forward to the next book in this series.

Silent Angel is book 7 in the DC Morgan Brookes series by Helen Phifer. This series just gets even better if that's possible! It's Morgan's birthday and she is getting ready for celebrating with Detective Sergeant Ben Matthews at a pizza restaurant in Ambleside, Cumbria when a call comes through for Ben. A girl's body has been found in St Martha's churchyard, Rydal Falls; sixteen-year-old Shea Wilkinson has been missing for weeks.

I was wrongfooted again in this one, blindsided by the clever twists and misdirection. Helen Phifer's superb and explosive writing with its flashes of humour continues to wow me and it will be interesting to see what's in store for DC Brookes in the next instalment.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Bookouture via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

Great book, seventh in the Detective Morgan Brookes series. Morgan and fellow detective’s search for a young woman’s killer, while investigating the disappearance of fellow officer Des and another young woman, Milly.
I was glued to the pages and couldn’t stop reading. Another awesome book by Helen Phifer! I’ve read many of her books and they do not disappoint.

I love the Morgan Brookes series by Helen Phifer and look forward to the next book as soon as I have finished the current book. Silent Angel grips you from the start and doesn't let go. You will tear through this book having to know who is doing these horrible things? What started out as a weekend of birthday celebration for Morgan turned into something quite different. As Ben and Morgan were heading out to celebrate a call came in that a body was found at a church cemetery. Ben had to go but told Morgan to wait in the car until he was finished. He didn't want Morgan working on her birthday weekend. If you've read any books in this series you know that Morgan did not wait in the car. She helped interview people at the scene and helped with the investigation.

The girl who was found is a teenager that was murdered a couple towns over and brought back here to dump. They know this because of the sand found on her feet and the unique flowers that were laid on her. They were from a beach area in Barlow. This confuses everyone as to why someone would go to the trouble of doing this? Why weren't they seen bringing the body back and carrying it into the cemetery? Could it have been the new vicar who just started with the church and mentions the BTK killer? Why would he know about that?

As they're working the case another teenage girl goes missing and Morgan interviewed her at the nursing home across the street from the church cemetery regarding the dead girl. Morgan really liked her as Millie told her about planning her 18th birthday party to have at the nursing home so all of the residents could help her celebrate. Millie was almost home when she was taken and her parents are distraught. Morgan and Ben go to work on her case and believe it's connected to the first dead girl.

This book has some heartbreak, twists, and turns like all of Helen Phifer's books. The book is now available and I couldn't recommend it highly enough! I rate this book 5 stars and can't wait for book 8 in the series! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy in exchange for a fair review. #SilentAngelDetectiveMorganBrookesBook7 #NetGalley

A local church becomes the dumping ground for bodies. A virile new vicar seems a little off. The team takes a hit and some changes occur for Morgan and Ben.
I held my breath as the story unfolded. I did emit a wail of protest as things occurred that I didn’t want to see happen.
The detective work was good as the case unfolded and Morgan pursued the bad people.
I am impatient to see where the author takes Morgan and Ben in the next book.
Fast paced action and lots of sleuthing to read!
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the early read.

Birthdays are supposed to be a celebration, spent with loved ones, and maybe there'll be presents and cake, as well. Detective Morgan Brookes does get to spend her special day with her loved ones but also with everyone else at the crime scene they've been called to rather than at the pizza restaurant with just her partner, Ben.

Their victim had been missing for a while but Morgan hadn't given up hope of finding her until she arrived at the scene. After new clues are discovered, Morgan and Ben, who is also her boss, begin to widen their search but with problems mounting outside the investigation they can't risk losing their focus. As others are reported missing and the stresses and responsibilities are threatening to overwhelming the team they all know failure is not an option.

This is such a good series, book one was brilliant and every installment since has been of an equally high standard or even better! This time I was left open mouthed on numerous occasions and desperately needing to know what would happen next but not wanting it to end.

There is such a familiarity with the main protagonists and location now that it is easy to slip into Morgan’s world from the very first page. This doesn't however mean there are no surprises and with the ever evolving back stories I hope there will be more to come in this excellent series before too long.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. The entire series are first class reads and all are highly recommended.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Silent Angels' by Helen Phifer.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Helen Phifer, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 28th September 2022.

This is the seventh book I have read by this author. It is also the sixth book in the 'Detective Morgan Brookes' series but can be read as a standalone. I have previously read  'Find The Girl' (book 5 in this series), 'First Girl To Die' (book 4 in this series), 'The Hiding Place' (book 3 in this series) , 'The Girl In The Lake' (book 2 in the 'Beth Adams series),' The Killer's Girl' (book 2 in this series) or 'One Left Alive' (the first book in this series) and LakeView House (standalone) which I also recommend anyone and everyone read!!

I was originally drawn to this book by its  eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that this book is 'An absolutely addictive page-turner! Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Lisa Regan and Rachel Abbott.' I am a huge fan of all three of this authors so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Helen and if this is half as good as' Find The Girl' (book 5 in series), 'First Girl To Die' (book 4 in this series), 'The Hiding Place' (book 3 in this series) , 'The Girl In The Lake' (book 2 in the 'Beth Adams series),' The Killer's Girl' (book 2 in this series) and 'One Left Alive' (the first book in this series) and LakeView House (standalone) it is sure to be a page turning read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture  that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue, 56 chapters and an epilogue  The chapters medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in Cumbria, UK 🇬🇧 The bonus for me of books that are partly or fully based in the UK is that I live in the UK and have sometimes visited places mentioned in the book which makes it easier to picture. I have actually been on holidays to Cumbria so it will help me picture everything.

This book is written in third person perspective with the main protagonists being Detective Constable Morgan Brookes and  Detective Sergeant Ben Matthews  The benefits of third person perspective with multiple perspectives are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

Wow!!! Just Wow!!! I did not see that one coming!!! Yet another absolutely unputdownable page turning book from the extremely talented Helen Phifer!!!

This book is  fantastically written and such an addictive and compelling read. Excellent descriptions making it so easy to imagine what's going on. The book cover and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.

The storyline is an absolute roller-coaster ride filled with suspense, crime, drama, red herrings and is an absolutely explosive psychological thriller that kept me up until late at night. I just could not put it down!!! I completely blame Helen for the bags under my eyes!! This is just one of those series that I have no idea how as each of them have been explosively addictive but Helen manages to make each one better and better!!! This is such a high accomplishment and it is exactly why I cannot wait for each of these fantastic books to be released. Whether part of this fantastic series or standalone Helen completely sucks her readers in to the depths of each storyline and manages to completely captivate them until the very last page!! . Helen completely emerges the reader into the storyline and there is just no escaping so be warned!! Do not start this if you have plans for the day 😂 It gets harder and harder to surprise me when it comes to crime books after reading so many yet Helen manages to do it absolutely every single time!!! Helen please let me into your secret as I have no idea how you do it but each book gets better and better!! The storyline itself was very realistic and I must admit I had no idea that she had worked in a police team until the letter at the end of this book but her experience shines through when your reading. My heart absolutely broke by a certain event and along with another matter I really really cannot wait to see how the team recovers from these bombshells. I was absolutely she'll shocked and had tears streaming down my eyes. I won't say anymore as I don't want to spoil it for future readers but OMG Helen 😭 It is always a strange experience reading one of Helen's books as her storyline and writing skills make you want to keep flipping the pages until the end but then when you get there your absolutely gutted as you have to wait for the next book in this absolutely fantastic series that ticks each and every box!!

Congratulations Helen on yet another absolutely addictive, unputdownable explosive success!! Your books keep getting better and better which is incredible as I have loved each and every one of them. As always, looking forward to the next installment in this epic series!!

Although this is the seventh book in the series I had absolutely no problems reading it without the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.

Clear your schedules as you won't be able to do anything else the second you turn the pages on this explosive action packed psychological thriller that will tick absolutely every box!!

I loved meeting all the characters again. They have definitely become like friends to me over these books and it's always sad to say goodbye to them. The characters are all very strong and the fact that Morgan and Amy are such strong females was definitely a bonus with me being female myself. I love Amy and Morgan and her relationship with Ben and would love to read more about her as always. I'd love to read more about Ben, Morgan and a few others actually. I am looking forward to seeing the relationship between Ben and Morgan progress and I liked the way they had quite similar histories. I also enjoyed the progression of friendship between Morgan and Cain who I really liked and enjoyed getting to know more in this book. I absolutely adore Cain who is such a sweet and kind hearted, not to mention sexy part of the team!! He has the perfect qualities of a police officer. I have always had fun watching the sarcasm and snipes between Amy, Morgan and Detective Des. I had started to warm to Marc in the last book but OMG I could kill him. What is the pri&k playing at, seriously 😡. That man has got a serious chip on his shoulder and I hope someone smashes it off in the next book!! I absolutely LOVE Amy with her sarcastic say it as it is, larger than life personality and I loved meeting her again. Declan the pathologist is another big character for me and I really love his funny yet caring and compassionate personality and always look forward to seeing him. I love him more and more with each epic, suspense filled addictive page turning novel in this series!! Theodore is a very strange character and I am intrigued to see if we get to see more of him soon!! However, you can't love everyone and apart from that horrible cow I just cannot wait to meet the rest of an amazing team who I have grown to love!!

Well done on yet another massive success Helen and here is to the next success in an amazing series 🥂 🎈 💐. This is EXACTLY why your one of my favourite authors and this is one of my top 3 series'!!! 😍

I used to read the blurbs of every book before I decided to buy/read them. I stopped doing this a while ago. Why? There are several things to answer this question with. I sometimes find blurbs too revealing. I don’t want half the book told on the back cover. Sometimes I find it too confusing, so I left those on the shelf too.

There is one thing that works for me each and every time and that is the front cover. In the first place it’s the image that has to attract my attention. If that activates something in my brain, it’s a winner. I was never disappointed. If I loved the image, I loved the book. The title is the second thing I look at. If the image and title are a match made in heaven, I am a happy camper and if the author is a favourite one I do a little happy dance. If the author is new to me, I do a happy dance too. 😊😉

So one look at this book and I was in. A church is often creepy, especially at night and when it’s surrounded by fields and nothingness. And the title ‘Silent Angel’… Well, that says enough. 😊

Last but not least the author. She created an amazing series with Morgan Brookes as one of the main characters and each part is a winner.

Morgan herself is a winner too. Saving victims, catching killers… those are two goals she has to achieve. Putting herself in danger? No problem as long as she can close a case with a positive outcome.

I love the closeness of the small police team. They all have each other’s back. There is one rotten apple though. I had the feeling and hope they would have adapted and fitted in now with the rest of them, but I sadly he does not see the light yet. 😉

Abduction and murder are central in this story, but love and friendship play a big part too.

Morgan Brookes is not a traditional police officer, but you just have to love her. She is great. 5 stars

Thank you

4.5⭐

Detective Morgan Brookes is back with a rare weekend off ready to celebrate her birthday with boyfriend and boss Ben. When a black out happens and a body is discovered in a grave yard.

So with plans cut short. Ben and Morgan head to the crime scene and encounter a grisly site and a vicar who has a peculiar fascination with serial killers.

But surely he can't be the killer, can he?

And as Morgan, Ben and the rest of the team begin to investigate they find some odd coincidences. That Morgan is sure are connected.

And the body? Well that belongs to a seventeen year old from Blackpool. But how did she end up over eighty miles away in Rydal Falls?

But just as the team begin to answer that very question. Another girl disappears as does a member of the team. And as they scramble to find them both an order is given that sends those left reeling.

And with good pacing, twists, shocks and a killer I didn't expect. This was another great addition to the series and one I would happily recommend to others.

Morgan Brookes, my favourite harbinger of doom is back and as per norm a trail of death and devastation quickly follows.

This time Helen really threw me for a loop with the amount of suspects she casually added to the mix. A very unusual vicar who knows about the BTK killer and two of her own colleagues had Morgan questioning everything and everyone. With new boss Marc doing all he can to split the team up, will this be the end of the dream team?

This was probably the most graphic and nail biting book of the series. What sets this apart is how much I have come to care for the characters. Even Milly the latest victim was so easy to like and that made the hunt for her whereabouts even more dramatic. But killing off a regular character and exiling Morgan was very bold, ballsy and completely unexpected.

This is an absolute breath stealing read but for the love of God Morgan please stay with Ben or Cain at all times as my heart can’t take much more.

Another brilliant crime thriller from Helen Phifer.
I love this series and this is definitely one of my favourites.
With a body found in the grounds of the church, Morgan and Ben head out to investigate.
Morgan is meant to be having the weekend off for her Birthday but wants to help.
It’s not until they carry out the post mortem that they realise the body is that of a teenage girl, brutally murdered.
They realise she was abducted many miles away in Blackpool, so need to work out how she ended up here.
Another teenager soon goes missing and Morgan and the team know it’s a race against time to find her before it’s too late.
There’s a few shocks in store in this book which I definitely didn’t see coming.
A brilliant book, in a fantastic series.
One that I highly recommend.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Humdrum and Unfemanding

Morgan is an absolute pain. She's twenty six and behaves like a child, undisciplined, no self control, often plain stupid and we're supposed to find that endearing. She's a police constable but she runs around as though she's the senior officer in the cases cases she's involved with. She's a liability and everyone around her is supposed to look after her. Her red herrings and hunches pop up all over the place, distracting the fictional characters and the readers and are never explained away. It's not endeearing,, not even entertainment. Just tedious.

When the body of a teenage girl turns up at the church yard, Morgan and Ben won’t be getting their night out. Who could have done this heinous crime? Morgan and Ben face the toughest case of their career when another girl goes missing. Could it be one of their own?
Yet again Helen knocks it out of the park with this one. I’m already excited for the next book. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Silent Angel is the 7th book in the Detective Morgan Brookes series, and once again Helen did not disappoint! I’ve been a big fan of this series and was excited to be selected for this newest addition!

Morgan and Ben are off to celebrate Morgan’s birthday when they are called to the scene of a body found. They discover it’s the body of a 17 year old who’s been missing for several week, and the book just keeps you guessing in a who done it whirlwind as another girl goes missing. I thought I had it figured it out several times but Helen kept me guessing until the big reveal. I couldn’t put this book down, especially towards the end. I felt like one storyline was left unresolved, and I don’t know if that will continue in the next novel, or if it was just dropped, so I’d like to see if that has any resolution eventually.

Thank you NetGalley, bookouture and Helen phifer for my ACR!

4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐🎧

This book got under my skin more than any other, I was shocked and frustrated!
I didn't know what to believe or who to guess to be the killer.

Everything that happened in this book I was shocked by.
I don't have anything else to say.
Again I am loving the narration.
