This poetry has fully invaded me. Ms.Malinenko's words are so precise with emotion of any given moment, so precise in painting her reality. These gracefully complex poems are deeply personal and I felt them outgrow my tiny bones. My favorites are 'MSKCC', ' Mammogram(24)', 'My Kind of People', 'Los Fridos' and 'The Year of Hell'. I know I will be called back to this collection many times. It haunts.
There were three or four poems I really liked, but overall it just felt like this collection wasn't meant for me. I think others could likely find more value in it than I did- no hate on it at all. Not every poem is for everyone!
