A vampire’s fangs aren’t the only deadly fangs. Baxter is on vacation, or at least, he’s supposed to be. Finding dead supernatural creatures put a wrench in that, but as soon as he finds out what’s going on, he’ll take time off. Sloan never wanted the responsibilities of being the pack beta, but he can’t say no when his brother asks. Now he’s in charge of the pack and keeping it safe, which is a problem, since dead vampires have started popping up close to their territory. Someone is trying to start a war between wolves and vampires, and they might just manage. Even if they don’t, vampires and wolves are dropping like flies, killed by a new drug no one knows anything about. The threat the pack is facing is new and more dangerous than anything they’ve ever had to deal with. Sloan and Baxter have each other, but will they be enough to save the pack?
Catherine is the creator of several series, most of them paranormal, including the Whitedell Pride Series and the Gillham Pack Series. While she graduated in translation, she decided to go the writer’s way because it was more fun to create her own stories and characters. She’s been living in Italy for more than twenty years, but she’s a daughter of the North—Belgium to be precise—and she misses it so much that she’s already planning to move back. She loves pizza—probably too much —her pets, and of course, books. She sneaks some reading time in her schedule every time she has five minutes free from writing, demands from her various pets and son, and lastly, housework.
much better than the previous book. Loved Sloan and Baxter's story. Enjoyed seeing Robin and Kieran again as well. i really liked how Sloan and Baxter's relationship developed. They were enamored of each other after meeting in the previous book, but now we get to see that love develop. It felt much more organic and less forced for me than Robin and Kieran's relationship. Tensions are still high between the wolves and vamps and the deaths haven't helped matters. But, love can overcome all, right?
2.5-ish. It was a cute, short story, only 120 pages long. But it was incredibly repetitive to the point of getting annoying, specially on the first half. I thought it would get better after the recap (I can only be told Robin is a vampire who is alpha mate to the alpha who took the post from his evil father so many times in the first 20 pages... and beyond. Did I mention he's a vampire alpha mate to the alpha who-?) I admit I ended up skipping through some sentences and still not missing a thing. If you took out all the repetition it would probably be half its length.
Anyway. Not to repeat myself like the book by being repetitive and all, but: - Not a lot of substance to the story - Still overall an ok fun time if you ignore repetition - Highly repetitive otherwise
